  1. Haven’t we not lost to Stanford in like 10 years though? Hopefully the rain chills out, it was pouring in Corvo just a couple hours ago.

  2. Parker just said Casey is talking to Stansbury at the game so my hunch is Stansbury made the call today after a convo with Casey to have a camera from the outfield again. Liking Stansbury so far and definitely a good & appreciated decision for the OSU fanbase.

    • Are you sure? The last comment I heard from Parker re: Stansbury was that Tinkle and Stansbury were talking to each other out in Banners.

      • Was it Tinkle? OK thought I may have heard his name but convinced myself otherwise. Still Stansbury is at the game with Rinks to boot right when we see the change, tells me he may have been involved. Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the first game with views from behind the pitcher again? I watched one a couple weeks ago and it was thru the net. Think this is first game with the nice change.

        • Yep, Tinkle and Stansbury in the house. Blazers advancing to 2nd round tonight and wanting to watch baseball games because it is a pleasant experience again makes for a good day. Would like to beat the Cardinal to make it a great day.

    • Their reliever, Hock, is nearly the same size (6’5″/220lbs) as our boy John Pomeroy. Tonight he was just as effective!
While tree did, indeed, give the game away, got to give the Beavs credit for hangin’ in, staying close, and taking what they were given. A game like this should fire up the Beavs for the rest of the weekend.
One positive, the pen wasn’t taxed. Only 11 pitches by Fehmel.

One more thing: Luke to start tomorrow, Jake…no no, it’s TBA to start Sunday.

      • I agree but the bat went cool out there in spots.

On that close play at first I would agree with Parker on this one it looked like Casey was trying to get kick from the game.

        • Casey may have wanted to be tossed, but he was right about the call. Replay left no doubt.

Yeah, the bats went cool, against a very good arm; did ya notice Ice’s continuing K’s?

There was some pretty good D by the Beavs to keep it close……Nobach to Ice for one. Grenier handled a nasty hop at third too.

  3. Well that’s one way to win.

Really need to sweep here. With the standings bunched up as is, moving up one game isn’t going to do it.

    • Beavs have a “good” number in the loss column and hold tie-breakers with UT and WA so they are in reasonably good shape. Need to just keep winning series. The one down in Tucson will be huge.

  4. Guys still impatient at the plate. In the middle of the game when the Stanford pitchers were struggling to throw strikes and issuing walks, they were let off the hook by Beavs swinging away on 1-0 and 2-0 pitch counts. Coach needs to step in and control the at – bats more. Didn’t need to go to ninth inning for the guys to take pitches to get on base.

  5. Of course my NY Jets take him…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaAq_ATFrmI

Reminds me of my observation about Seth Collins. You’re not changing a 49% completion percentage ever. I might waiver from 46 to 53% good year vs bad, but it’s not going to mid 60s.

I haven’t watched this Penn State QB enough to know what the issues are (awful WRs/line?), but I looked up his HS stats and he completed only 51% of passes vs high schoolers. The Jets are just an awful franchise.

    • it was a nice day outside in the willamette valley and some of us had no desire to stay inside and watch a baseball game streaming online. I checked in a few times on the radio and it sounded like the bats just weren’t there. Really need to win this series on Sunday. Guess who has the worst record in the Pac-12 over their last 10 games? If you guessed Stanford, step up and claim your prize. The fact that Utah is alone in first place after Saturday games shows how pathetic the conference is this year. If they win the Pac-12 don’t expect any regional hosts or anyone winning a regional for that matter. It’s already looking grim for any team from the Pac-12 to get out of the regionals weekend. May only be a 1-2 bid league this year.

      • I also only checked in occasionally. Noticed Ice spent a lot of time out on the basepaths which may mean today is a test of the fatigue theory discussed here a while back. Also, he struck out once from the right side.
Last I heard, today’s pitcher was TBD. Can’t go to Church this Sunday on little rest, maybe next?

  6. Pac-12 beach volleyball championship on PAC 12 network today. That’s a thing?! I might have to take a peek – uh for research purposes

  7. Nice early lead….don’t think we’ll shut out Stanford so need to get 3 or 4 more runs with this pitch staff.

  8. After 3.5, Beavs up 5-0. Jake pitch count=40 and he has faced the minimum. Often, the 4th or 5th has been trouble for Jake, not likely today.

Hey, with Gretler already in as DH is there any reason in another inning or two to move Ice to DH and Gretler to C? Might give Ice some needed rest and yet have him available for D if either Gretler’s play or the game situation required it? Probably too much trouble for the slight amount of rest it would give Logan.

  9. Well, how ’bout that; Jake can’t respond after an infield throwing error. 5-3, Fehmel on in relief.
Jake leaves with 2 down and two on. 3 BB this inning!

    • After the first BB a 4 strike (correction, 4 pitch) K, not sure he should have been pulled at that point. However, after the next BB, yup, little chance Jake was gonna recover. But, “too late” leaves him in for another BB and a 2 RBI single.

  10. Beavs win 11-4 to take the series. Washington won already and UCLA/Utah play this evening at 6. If UCLA can avoid being swept, Beavs would only be a game out of first.

    • Nice to have the tie-breaker between both of these teams….gotta get something out of this Arizona trip. I don’t want to speculate and shake the JuJu tree….

  11. Fully expecting Isaiah Hodgins to choose WSU tonight. Should have been a sure thing for out staff. Hopefully he can be convinced to change schools between now and february, but this would signify a momentum shift for WSU recruiting.
