Theses teams are pretty even, talent wise, and the Beavs aren’t very good in Arizona. Don’t have a good feeling about this series, but hoping they prove me wrong and bunt their way to a sweep. I’m thinking 1 of 3 is the likely outcome.

Game times are 7, 7, and 12.

Go Beavs.

  1. I’m afraid 1 of 3 is pretty likely as well.

Things that might make for 2 wins, or even a sweep: Temps in AZ should not be a factor, Grenier-Gretler-Harrison-even Kwan seem due at the plate, and (hold on to your hat, angry) Jake could take confidence from his last performance and get past letting things derail his concentration.

Of course, John Pomeroy could come in and dominate.

On second thought, yeah, 1 of 3 most likely but I’ll keep hopin’ for 2.

    • Arizona has been just as jekyll and hyde as the Beavs. This series could go either way. Utah is off this weekend and UW plays 3 at USC. Despite all the injuries if the Beavs want to make a move to the top of the standings they have to win these last 4 weekends. Arizona is right there as well

  2. Eckert has faced the minimum through 3, but way too soon to relax. He has only 23 strikes of 40 pitches; control not so hot but nice pickoff moves.

  3. Anyone else besides me unsure that the UA catcher made the tag on Billy King? It was close but I’m not so sure he tagged him.

  4. Travis starts the b6 with three straight balls then bailed out by a line out, how long will Nate watch this lack of control? Good D can only cover so many sins.

    • I guess the idea is that the pen has not been that great so you can’t burn them in game one…… but I don’t know

      • You can’t rely on them in the first, second, or third game. You’re probably right, no confidence in the pen and Parker mentions nobody is working in the pen. Anyway, Travis excapes the b6 with, of all things, a K.

  5. Cats pitcher at 90, two up and throwing in the pen.
Beavs pitcher at 94 and nobody working in the pen.
    What’s new.

  6. and the wheels have now started to come off 1-5 Cats with some bad fielding plays just to add to the salt that is this game so far

  7. 5-1 now in the 8th as the Beavs implode. Beavs hurt themselves by King getting thrown out at home and not getting in runners at 1st and 3rd with no outs earlier in the game. This one’s over. Move on to tomorrow. At least UW lost so the beavs aren’t losing ground in the standings.

    • Not only a disappointing night for KJ, others who didn’t get a hit=Ice, Nobach, Larnach, and Anderson.
Flush this one, hope Eckert tolerates the effects of 119 stressful pitches.

      • Who would’ve thought that at this point in the season King would be out hitting KJ (.286 v .284 after tonight)

        • He wasn’t exactly on fire.

Why is nobody seeing what I’m seeing? I used to think it was common baseball sense.

          Now… idk.

          • Okay, you who disagree. Show me how Ice was on fire. Go back and look at his numbers in conference and see if anything I’ve noted isn’t true.

  8. Same story as last night. Cats making Beavs pay (2 walks score) and Beavs not taking advantage of gifts (2 errors in one inning). 3-0 cats.

Cougs lead Utes but lots of innings to coug it. Hole leads forks

  9. Cats win Sat night 4-1 to take the series. At this point winning the watered down Pac-12 is more than likely a pipe dream. Beavs will probably still make a regional but the end result will be exactly the same as last year. Injuries suck, but that’s reality

  10. And today I learned OSU is going full-on SJW. Group PC-think and indoctrination over free speech and discussion. Sad day. Can’t support the Alma Mater anymore. Don’t even need to rehash the argument here, nor the predictable Jack responses.

Bye, Oregon State, we had some good years.

    • Where did you see that?

If that’s true, email me offers to purchase the blog, because I’ll be done with OSU as well.

          • I looked at the “Bias Incident Report Form”. While I understand there can be incidents at any place, that’s why you’re supposed to have frank discussion. Or the police, should it cross the line. “Bias Incident” reporting smacks of the SJW secret police.

I’ve been on the receiving(?) end of “minority” help in the past from ostensibly well-meaning organizations. It was kind of insulting that they thought my skin was so thin that I’d be bothered by some of the things they were worried about that happened to me. It’s amazing.

I could have filled out this form myself, after sitting through some of the ethnic studies classes I had to take…

          • Indeed, you can’t escape it these days. Still, I have my own sense of justice, freedom, and notions of what a university should be, and I will no longer support OSU financially, directly or indirectly, from now on. They no longer sufficiently align.

Universities are supposed to be havens of learning, debate, free speech, and free thought. NOPE. Now it’s indoctrination on PC-groupthink, biased studies, and hating whitey. Enough is enough. Free speech for “liberally-enlightened” me, but not for thee.

I actually used to be a huge liberal. Then I got out of college, got out from under my parents, experienced the world for myself, consumed media sources from every angle (even those I disagreed with.) Let’s just say I’m not a huge liberal anymore. I have to look back at some of the things I had pumped into me and actually believed and shake my head. But hey, if you believe the same things now as you did 10 years ago, you wasted 10 years…
