  1. Is tonights game (Tue) more important to nike than the Beavs?
I haven’t checked rosters for how many instate guys are on each squad, but CW motivation should mean both teams will take this game seriously.
However, with the game at Eugene and the conference series at Goss it seems to me the Beavs have the upper hand. If the Beavs win the quacks should be somewhat demoralized facing 3 in the home of the Beavs.
OTOH, the Beavs aren’t likely to be as down if they lose. Make any sense?

Not saying it isn’t important to win every game.
    Thoughts?

    • It’s pretty equal in importance for both teams. Oregon has to keep winning to host and the Beavs need to win to keep the national seed alive. Puts a lot of pressure on the team that loses to win the weekend series.

      • I disagree. Other than beating your rival, this game has zero impact on Beavs ability to get a national seed. Win P12 = national seed. Period. End of story. For the Ducks, it’s much more important and could be difference in hosting or not.

I would say hard yes. The ducks are quickly becoming a bubble team and their RPI will be extremely critical. The games that can boost their RPI the most is the series in Goss. The next most is probably the game today. It doesn’t hurt them much to lose RPI wise but wins would be huge for them.

  2. Oldbeav and NiceBeav,

Can you man the fort? I’m leaving early in the AM and will be back Saturday night. Go Beavs!

  3. We gonna learn something about Mitch here?
Bazzana didn’t make a move to run on his hit which was right on the line; ruled fair and putout. Not a good look.

Duck on Beaver crime. Dillon Brooks ejected for flagrant foul on GP2 on a fast break. He left the game and is getting an x ray on his left arm. Looked like he landed on it awkwardly like it hyperextended.

  5. Dukart gets a chance to make up for his baserunning mistake, Bazzana on 3b with two out. A chance to double the Beavs lead.

EDIT/ADD: Sorry, guess I jinxed him

I just logged into some P-12 broadcast, these Quack broadcasters are insufferable idiots, no other way of describing it. Are they using fraternity brothers?

  7. 2-0 good guys, last of the 8th.

Hopefully Verburg can get these last 6 outs and call it a night

  8. Anyone else surprised to see Gretler come on for Dukart for defense in the b9?
I’d have expected him to ph for Dukart, but defensively? He’s good but Dukart is acclimated to the game.

    • Maybe to get players use to being “on call”? I always liked how Casey would do these almost riskless moves throughout the season…. keeps players engaged IMHO

        • Yeah Casey would do that for base runners too. You get a fresh set of legs, and give someone a chance to play in a key situation — by tournament time these kids are tough as nails, and you have tried&true options in case someone gets injured or isn’t playing well. 2018 a perfect example of guys stepping up all over — starting pitching sucked Abel stepped up, Kwan hurt Jack Anderson/Preston Jones stepped up. Lots of role players becoming hero’s come tournament time.

  9. Not a good win, a great win. To shutout a team that hits as well as the Ducks and at their place, it’s a great win.

Lots of momentum going into the weekend series. Oregon has to be demoralized not being able to score runs against the weekday guys. Now they have to face the weekend guys on the road. It certainly helped that a loud contingent of Beaver fans have been at the mid week games. This weekend games are sold out so it’ll be loud and very unfriendly for the ducks.

    • First time they’ve been shut out this season and the first time since Wasikowski became the head coach.

    • They have faced Hunter (twice), Verburg (twice), Brown (twice), Townsend, Carpenter on a meh night, Sebby on his worst night and Hibbard…and scored 2 runs in 18 innings on their home turf. In fact Boyd scored just as much as them on just homers.

Now they get to face Hjerpe, Kmatz, Pfennigs, Ferrer, (good) Sebby, (good) Carpenter and hopefully even Lattery on our turf. Have fun Ducks.

  10. 3
    1

OK, Beavs got a look at 7 nike arms (3 of them less than a dozen pitches). Quacks saw 4 Beav pitchers but only 10 from Brown.
    Any advantage there?……I’m thinking no.
If we see the Cooper Hjerpe we have been accustomed to, and if the bats come alive in the first few innings, I could see a sweep this weekend. Time to step on the scrawny quacking necks!!

    • The only repeat arms they are likely to see are Brown, Verburg, Sebby, and Carpenter…maybe Townsend. The Sebby and Carpenter they saw were no where near their best. I think its safe to say they will need to really improve at the plate.

      • I’d say it was probably more of a strategic intentional foul early enough in the game to get GP2 out of the way since he was the main defender against Ja Morant in game 1. GP2 had an opportunity to really shine in a high level playoff run and Brooks pulls that kind of garbage. Typical loser Duck…just cheat if you can’t beat them straight up.

I’m not really a fan of the Warriors but I will root for GP2 to succeed.

I don’t think he meant to hurt him. He meant to send a message, Payton talks a lot so he was due a hard foul in my eyes. That being said, it wasn’t just a hard foul it caused an injury. There is no place for that kind of foul.

Regarding CJ, I think you meant most politicians. Plenty of examples from both sides. Until we get the money out of politics this will never change. I wish people would vote in some of these alternative candidates who aren’t just Republican or Democrat. Other countries actively do this but the US hasn’t in a long time.

            7

It not be a question whether both sides cheat, but the majority of cheating in elections does seem to happen in major metropolitan precincts historically, and those areas have been generally controlled by Democrats for the last 50-60 years.

I challenge all of the objectors to watch “2000 Mules” by Dinesh D’Sousa this weekend and then comment on whether the Dems cheat or not. I think it has been a one party charade for the past 40 years anyway, so you’ll get no argument from me regarding R’s cheating and benefiting by it from time to time, but it is that D’s have perfected it.

          • Look up 2000 mules.com and it will get you to the main page. They have gone around the normal distribution methods because the expectation is it will be so impactful that normal theaters/video sites would suppress it. Stream it online also on rumble, all linked from that page I think.

Good lord that site is like a ye cancer. Anyways if you want to watch the virtual premiere it’s $20 bucks. Totally not another grifter bullshit movie.

Also cool that they charge more than theaters while not creating any jobs or supporting any economy. You would think such important ground breaking information would be free or a really low cost so toehold can learn the truth.

It’s in post production and not released yet. OH probably just got an email on it or some news channel said it was cool.

The book is 10% off and ONLY $27 on amazon. You can probably just look up the author/director and get the gist of everything he’s about. His 2018 movie death of a nation equates the Democratic Party to fascism and nazi’s so that didn’t age great.

          • They actually used geospatial cellphone data to prove people came “near” the location of dropboxes multiple times. Like, you know, on their way to work and back home again.

Also, it’s appalling to think someone would drop off another person’s ballot, like for their elderly parents or neighbors. But I guess it’s legal.

I’m just glad someone finally has the evidence so they prosecute these mass offenders and get that damn election overturned already.

Nuc, I know you and I have disagreed in the past over a few things. Why so bitter? If it is nothing, move along and let it flounder. Are you concerned it may upend your viewpoint of the world? Why should you lash out, mock and revile…trying to dismiss the rationale for how a film is distributed is a nice effort to distract from the actual topic of massive election fraud.

Cause there’s no real evidence and this dude is just taking money from people peddling bull shit. He’s a leech extending a disproven story that people want to believe so they don’t have to admit they are befuddled and bamboozled.

Explain why tickets to a diff oral release in their own platform is $20.

They are fucking shit bag grifters creating division for their own monetary gain or to extend power. It’s sick.

“A man only hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest”

I for one have seen enough to make my ears prick up over voting fraud for over 20 years.

Ask yourself. Why are some so adamant against voter ID when you have to have a valid state issued ID to do so many other things in every day life? Rent a car. Get a hotel room. Buy beer. Those are only few examples.

It has nothing to do with racism or whatever against lower income folks.

It’s because it would take away a well used form of fraud.

Ballot harvesting is nothing new. And I believe several forms have been going on for quite sometime.

If you have nothing to hide, why are you against having a valid state issued ID to physically go to a polling center to vote?

Vote by mail needs to disappear. Voting days need to be a national paid holiday so folks can get out and go to the polls and vote and not have to worry about not getting paid for having to take a day off from work.

The federal government has meddled in foreign elections as well. No reason to think they wouldn’t do it here. And that goes for both parties.

Ya’ll are aware there are other parties out there than the two biggest, right? You want change? Stop this “vote blue no matter who” or “vote red until I’m dead”.

There should also be a max on campaign contributions, all contributions need to be transparent to the public on who/where they came from.

Term limits also need to be implemented. I have a serious problem with someone getting rich off taxpayers being a public servant for life.

The only ones against this are the ones that have something to hide.

Individuals are supposed to be elected to represent us, WE THE PEOPLE. Not bought and paid for by corporations/businesses. Trump was right about one thing. Drain the swamp. Government and politics is a fucking swamp and many of those in power will do anything to stay in power. On both sides.

That won’t solve everything, but it’s at least a start and we can go from there. Enough is enough.

          • 3
            4

Mostly in agreement minus what you think about ID laws, the research just doesn’t back that opinion up. I’d be fine with vote by mail going away if there was a federal holiday but that ain’t gonna happen.

Id love to vote for a different party but there isn’t one for the policy I want. My GOP friends don’t get that I really am not a democrat, I am a socialist but the politicians that create policy I support are entwined with the democrats. The only real option is to vote for socialist policy supporting democrats.

Maybe you can explain this one cause its so weird. Same friends always attack democrat politicians but never policy. No matter how many times I explain it they can’t understand that I don’t give a shit about the politicians. All I care about is the policy and the voting record of the people I want to elect. Someone making fun of Pelosi or Biden means nothing to me, they are old ass centrist democrats who actively get in the way of most of the policy I want. Why doesn’t anyone ever attack policy like state funded school lunches or federal funding for mental health resources for people under 25?

Campaign contributions were unlocked by the citizens united SCOTUS decision. Its fucking lunacy but no one wants to fix it because thats like asking the horse to take off its own feed bag when its hungry. Its probably the most important thing the government could do but they don’t.

Term limits are so needed. Congress is completely full of old farts. Theres plenty of anecdotes from doctors about prescribing dementia and alzhiermer meds to representatives, senators and even judges. I’ve always thought it would be a good idea to make the presidency a single term of 6 years as well. Then atleast they wouldn’t spend half their time working on their fucking re-election. There should be independent mental health testing of all elected and appointed federal officials (id prefer state too but yeah right).

At the end of the day the partisanship is basically just rich people playing with media to make wedge issues matter more and keep people distracted. If you look at opinion polling on policy when a party is not mentioned Americans actually have vast overlap on healthcare, elections security, election funding, cannibas and all sorts of other shit. The powerful just keep us on a hamster wheel fighting over peanuts while they eat the steak.

          • A socialist, eh? What’s your ranking in the “Squad”? Can you get me a date with AOC? Never mind, she’s too fucked up.

          • People are against voter ID because it’s a version of a poll tax, and it also doesn’t prevent voter fraud. Also, vote by mail needs to be expanded, and will continue to be in more states. Nebraska is even on board.

          • If the US rigs elections in Latin America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, what makes people think that it doesn’t happen here? It’s absolutely happening now, as it did in the past, under both parties.

Also, keep in mind it was the Republicans who were responsible for getting money into politics in the first place. “Lobbyists” was coined during Grant’s time in office.

          • CJ you just exemplified the exact question I had. I don’t give a shit about AOC. I like tons of the policy she pushes but my support has nothing to do with her as a person. So owning me with whatever that was does literally nothing.

You don’t even know what I support cause you never asked. You literally see socialist and insert whatever politician you hate and then think that they somehow represent everything I think. That’s not how it works if you move past hero worship.

and one last thing for tonight………..which probably will make several people here go REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE…..

Dear all you insufferable skanks out there,

Your body, your choice? Totally cool with it. As long as YOU and whoever you chose to spread your legs for PAY for it. No more taxpayer funded abortions.

            Cool with that?

          • 3
            1

Totally cool. Hyde amendment has been in place since 1980. Only allows federal funds for rape and incest. ‘Free’ abortions are mostly paid for with private donations to organizations like planned parenthood. 16 States provide funds for various kinds of elective abortions but that makes a lot more sense than federal funds since states control their own funds and the people who live in a state have far more effect on policy than federal policy. Yeah m actually totally in agreement since Oregon is going to end up paying for a bunch of elective abortions in Idaho when SCOTUS ditches Roe.

            2

Did you read it? Thanks for the link it’s actually fascinating. His conclusion (it’s murky as hell) is they 1000 abortions a year are directly paid for federally and those fall under the Hyde exceptions. Where it gets really wild is all the federally subsidized insurance. Insurance that’s federally subsidized is not required to pay for abortion but it’s also not banned. So private companies that take federal money can still pay for medically necessary (determined by doctors and by state so this has massive variation) procedures.

Essentially he says I was MOSTLY right but it’s way more nuanced and obscure than I thought.

Not sure if you were just being an ass or encouraging but I guess trying harder was fascinating so thanks.

          • 2
            1

            Did you read it?

“As best I can determine, taxpayers subsidize roughly 24% of all abortion costs in the U.S. with 6.6% borne by federal taxpayers and the remaining 17.4% picked up by state taxpayers. If we apply the 24% figure to the total number of abortions, this is equivalent to taxpayers paying the full cost of 250,000 abortions a year, with about 70,000 financed by federal taxpayers and 180,000 financed by state taxpayers”.

            Which was my entire point.

            No more.

Planned parenthood statistics website (going off my poor memory here) showed that sexual assault and incest accounted for around 1.2% of all abortions.

The rest? All ooopsies or didn’t want the burden.

I am fine with those 1.2% being funded by tax payers $. I’m even fine with cases where there’s a medical problem and it’s needed to save a woman’s life.

What I am saying is for the almost 99% were because two people were irresponsible?

No more. You pay for that shit on your own. No federal, state or local taxpayers $ will be used.

Abortion should NOT be used as a form of birth control. There’s plenty of other readily available birth control methods out there.

You know how many oopsies I was a part of? Zero. And after I was done having children I did what most other men out there should do.

And achieving that wasn’t very difficult. Not saying that makes me any better than someone that did. I’m saying if I can manage that? Most others probably can too.

I find it extremely frustrating at the complete lack of empathy for a baby, fetus or clump of cells. Whatever you or anyone else wants to call it.

The lack of personal responsibility/accountability in this society is fucking astounding.

            It’s time some people started.

If you took that as a dig on you, I apologize. It wasn’t meant to be.

          • You need to read the whole article. That’s just the first paragraph. It’s way more than that.

And yeah oopsies is not the rest at all when it comes to the federal and state funding. Medically necessary procedures for ectopic pregnancy and still births are also under abortions and make up the vast majority of abortions a year. That is also the nuance. Those fall under insurance payments which is where almost all the federal funds come from in that Forbes article. For clarity im talking Medicaid, federal employee insurance, Native American insurance options, military insurance. The Hyde amendment and the intentionally murky stats of abortions just make it really obtuse and easy to cherry pick stats.

Like you said above Hyde exceptions and medically necessary just make sense and that’s pretty much what is funded. I’m not saying there isn’t some fed dollars going to oopsies and irresponsible behavior but thats actually criminal behavior which is a whole other bag of beans.

I agree with you though. If you are aborting due to mistakes I’m not interested in paying for it with tax funds. Legit curious how you feel about these tax priorities instead.

            1) Education
            2) Healthcare for all children and adults under 25.
            3) Food/housing assistance for all Americans under 18.
            4) Tied to all three but full funding for foster programs.

Research shows that investment in children to be healthy and educated is the best way to spend money in an economy because the payback on investment is absurd. Plus we’ll educated people have less unwanted pregnancies so we get a win on this societal wedge too.

          • Guys, please get back to Beaver sports, you are gonna fill this CW thread with unrelated stuff.

Beavs hold steady at no 2 in RPI.

Ducks at 22, Arizona at 39.

Stanford and Ucla dropping. Unless someone else rises up and wins the Pac-12 tournament? 5 bid league at best. Very too heavy this year.

If this were the SEC there would be 3 national seeds and 2 regional hosts. But whatever.

Just win series and the rest will take care of itself.

OT: looks like USC may get that Pitt WR who won Biletnikoff award last year, something like 100 catches, 1,500+ yards, 15-17 TDs.

USC @ OSU going to be a track meet of a conference opener. Hope Alton Julian is healthy and ready to go! He’s likely to be a real leader next year in my view.

    • Getting more real. I really don’t want GCU or Gonzaga. Both are good hitting teams that can get got in a hurry.

      • Agree. No to GCU and Zags. Put GCU in Spokane and give us some ACC and Big 10 teams. Shoot, I’d rather have SEC teams.

        • GCU and Gonzaga are two dangerous teams that I want no part of in the postseason. Both of those teams will be a tough out for whoever plays them.

          • Probably way to early to say but I wish we could have the ducks as our west coast team. Pretty sure there is a rule against conference teams being in the same regional though? Not sure but I think I saw that somewhere.

Mariners are back to being Mariners. This year is different… yah right. Kind of amazing how many fall for the hype year after year. “No really, this offense is legit! Great young talent. GM is a genius… blah blah blah”. What other franchise is ok with a GM spending 6+ years to rebuild a team to never make the playoffs.

    • Try being the Diamondbacks, team batting avg under .200!!!

There was a report saying the mlb changed the ball to decrease home runs. since every club is built for the three true outcomes, it’s deflating offense across the board. home runs are way down.

      • I’d much rather be the Diamond Backs than the Mariners. They’ve won a WS and made the playoffs in 2017. I’d bet they make it back before the Mariners do.

        • Fun fact, in 44 seasons, the Mariners have made the playoffs 4 times in 44 years. The mighty Diamond Backs 6 times in 24 years.

    • 1
      1

Lmao! Yep, it’s a young team on one of the longest road trips of the season. Not to mention, they had to play the Astros and Verlander is legit. If you can’t see how much this team is improved compared to last year, than I don’t know what to tell you. Dipoto has done a great job imo. Might not be the playoffs this year but it’s coming soon.

      • 2
        1

to add………….Got swept by the Astros, shut out twice and scored all of 2 runs in the 3 game series. You chose to only mention the one game against Verlander? Which also happened to be the ONLY game they scored against Houston and still lost by 5 runs?

“Might not be the playoffs this year but it’s coming soon”

Wasn’t last year either but you guaranteed they would.

        Typical Mariners fan. Delusional.

But you keep up that hope.

See ya at the all star break when they’re at least 10 games out.

      • 1
        1

Well I hope they make the playoffs soon but I’ll believe it when I see it. The last time they did Johnathan Smith was the Beavs QB in the Fiesta Bowl and Verlander was 18.

        • @Whiskey, your the one living in your delusions. You don’t follow the team and judge them on your memories of past seasons.

They were two games from the playoffs last season. So I would say my prediction was much closer to reality than anything you’ve said about them.

I’ll hold you to ASG prediction lol. We’ll see how close you are. I am gonna guess way off like usual.

You sound like others commenting on OSU’s baseball team earlier this season. Don’t watch a game but know all about how the team is run. Sorry it’s just not a good look.

@beaverpride, that 2001 season was awesome. Such a fun team. It still pains me that they set a record for games won in a regular season and then lay an egg in the playoffs.

This team has the talent but is young. It’s been a long rebuild with Covid in the middle but the team is finally on the right track. It’s hard to see improvement if you aren’t watching. Logan Gilbert is looking like the Ace of the future.

Julio Rodriguez is coming along. The umps have been doing him dirty but apparently they do this purposely for rookies. I didn’t know it was a thing

          • Agree 2001 was fun. Every day was a W it seemed. I also remember how frustrating it was to see management pinch pennies and not make key trades at the deadline to strengthen the team. I remember them noting that they were in this for the long haul and didn’t want to mortgage the future. We’ll, how did that work for you? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan and watch as much as I can stomach but I just don’t think there that close. Last year was misleading based on run differential.

  14. Beavs need to give Hjerpe some run support on Friday. Hasn’t got much help in the past two games. Winning the Friday game sets a huge tone for the weekend.

    • Totally, I get that Friday is probably the best pitcher the other teams got but they need to step up for Hjerpe. He’s pitching like a freaking animal right now and deserves anything we can get for him.

      • Hjerpe may not need any run support on FRIDAY, lots of rain in forecast. Wonder if a double header Sunday will be the response, big celebration of Pat Casey planned before the Saturday game, so maybe the schedule that day will not be changed.
But to your point, Hjerpe is “due” to get run support, his two losses are such a shame. Just a couple of timely runs would have him off the charts nationally.

          • Of course. That’s all true.
I hate to see the way heavy rain can make the game more unpredictable than normal. Although I do seem to remember a rain delay in post season that worked out well for the Beavs.

I know it was mentioned earlier in the thread, but my boy Kwan following up his Rookie of the Month with a walk off single? I don’t follow Major League Baseball, I follow OSU Players playing in the major leagues!

    • Hopefully they retain the #1 position. Pressure increases to win for those good enough to be chained with such weight of the #1 seed. Best to stay under the radar and get in the 3-6 seed range.

I’m ok, dudes. Had surgery this morning. Gonna try to find the beavs down here (I’m on Oklahoma) and veg out during recovery.

  18. If you can, read the story on Wade Meckler. Great story that is just starting. A true beaver. Always need guys like that on the team.

Use your phone and search for Wade Meckler. it’ll get you by the subscribe barrier.

  19. Looks like the weather will hold off enough for the game to get in. Probably passing showers throughout the game. Cold and windy too.

Statistically speaking, the Oregon pitching staff should have a lot of work to do this weekend.

Friday starter – RJ Gordan 6.27 ERA in conference play. Longest outing of the year was 5.2 innings.
Probable Sat starter – Issac Ayon – 7.15 ERA in conf play.
Not sure who they will start Sunday but they’ve had a few guys take a turn.

Total staff ERA is 5.14 in conference.

Beavs need to jump on the starter early and work the bullpen tonight. They do that and Oregon won’t have anything left on Sunday. Oregon’s coach tends to make a lot of pitching changes. 21 games in conference, 105 appearances by pitchers. in contrast, the Beavs have 73 appearances in the same number of games.

    • Hole/Nike does that shit. Paddletail Black is officially an OSU color yet here is Nike looking like our black squad (don’t see any of their green, who the fuck at UO thinks looking like your rival is right?). I guess if you want championships you emulate the champion?
      Pathetic!

  20. This duck pitcher really drags things out. 1st inning and he’s already thrown over to 1st 4 or 5 times it feels like.

    • I feel like the umpire told the catcher he missed that one. The batter had crouched down but it was clearly under his belt line in his regular stance.

    • Hope Mitch is talking to the team about this b.s…patience…

“This duck pitcher really drags things out. 1st inning and he’s already thrown over to 1st 4 or 5 times it feels like.”

“Nice of the umps to kill all momentum and allow the relief pitcher ample time to warm up”

  21. Hjerpe at 97 pitches is sent back out for the t7, Dorman better keep an eye on him. Should have a 5+ run lead but it’s only a 2 run lead.

  22. I passed out before catching a pitch. Can I watch today’s game on an iPhone anywhere? Never use my phone for internet unless I’m away so I have no clue if the usual links work. Can anyone put a link up on yt for the next two games? Would be nice to watch while driving home tomorrow too

College baseball games are tough to find a stream. If your internet or tv subscriber has PAC-12 networks you can usually stream it that way.

But in all honesty, the PAC-12 streams are a joke from my end. Constant freezing or dropping.

I’ll look for a stream tomorrow evening from our Ukrainian friends. Between that and my white privilege I still doubt I’ll find one.

      But I’ll try.

Rest up and get better hoss

      • Excellent thanks. I remember trying a while back and did find streams but they didn’t work well on a phone. Horrible experience so I never tried again.

        • Do you still have access to comcast/xfinity?
If yes, what usually works for me is to first log into the comcast account, then head over to the official Beaverbaseball schedule page and mext to the game they’ll have a video link that should open on Pac12 network.
It will try to route you to the Pac12 app, but there should be a small link on that page thay says “web experience” or something like that and it will bypass the app step amd steam to your browser.

Lots of hoops to go through, but worth the effort.

  23. OT: “Oregon State landed a premier in-state talent when South Medford junior guard Donovyn Hunter committed to the Beavers on Thursday.

…She is the Beavers’ first commitment for the class of 2023.

The 6-foot Hunter is a combo guard who earned first-team Class 6A all-state honors this past season. Hunter had about a dozen offers, including Arizona State, Washington and Washington State.

Hunter averaged 24 points, six rebounds, six steals and four assists a game in leading the Panthers to the 6A state basketball tournament in March. She was the Southwest Conference’s player of the year.”

  24. I think hjerpe really solidified his draft stock as a first rounder. Great to see him perform with all the scouts there. Especially when his slider wasn’t working that well.

    • I agree, he should go high.
Listened to PAC announcers just a little last night, they didn’t see any sliders the first time through the lineup but did call several later. Mitch was asked and mentioned that “you don’t want to show all you have” early.
Anyway, quite a performance in light of the weather, delays, etc.

A tweet from Aaron Fitt, “Cooper Hjerpe’s got it all going — electric heater, big tight sweeping slider for a strike (very effective front-door to lefties or back-door to righties), has gotten multiple swing/misses with a quality changeup…”

    • Is he draft eligible?
      Thought he was a sophomore?

Although, Covid probably changed everything and he’s probably anything on the spectrum from redshirt freshman to super senior at this point.

      • Nearly everyone is a year or two ahead of their “class”. I think nearly all of the sophomores are eligible.

This year’s team will take some heavy losses. But this is the impact from COVID and being a very good team. It’ll take a couple more years before all the guys who got a free year are completely gone.

Draft eligible “underclassmen” who have a good chance of getting drafted
        – Hjerpe
        – Boyd
        – Forrester
        – Frisch – if a team wants to take a chance.
        – Brown is eligible too as he redshirted in addition to the free covid year. Would be a true junior if not.

Of the juniors, I’d expect Meckler, Melton and Pfennigs to get drafted. Possibly Ferrer and Logan too.

Though with the shorter MLB draft, teams won’t take as many flyers on guys.

        • Damn, we’re about to get gutted. Didn’t realize so many guys could be gone. At least the high ranking will make OSU an attractive destination for transfers and Juco guys to fill some gaps.

          • Well there are some very capable guys who will be stepping in. Trosky, Guerra, Myro, Smith, Reed is the wildcard. And if the beavs can get their top recruits to campus, the drop off won’t be much. Wheeler will probably be back because of his injury.

Pitching will be where the impact will be felt the most esp if Pfennigs leaves.

  25. OT: Scanning through draft grades for NFL teams, it didn’t appear to me a lot of PAC athletes were drafted. I checked a site and saw that 25 PAC football players were drafted. The SEC had 65 players drafted, the Big Ten 48, and the Big 12 also had 25.

I was a bit surprised at the distribution of picks from the PAC: UCLA led with 6, ASU and UW 4 each, and USC 3.

Despite their hype, exposure, and early season (over)ranking, UO had one player drafted.

For Oregon State, the lone pick was by the Houston Texans, Round 5, Pick 170 (from Tampa Bay via New England): Teagan Quitoriano, TE, Oregon State. Hopefully he and Brandin Cooks get on the field at the same time…

I did notice this comical error in an S-I article RE draft picks: “Round 6, Pick 182: Darrian Beavers, LB, Oregon State.” I think Beavers was recruited by OSU, but went elsewhere (ASU?).

    • You are thinking of Anthony Beavers who had been committed to oregon but I think ended up at usc. He’s only a sophomore or freshman I think. The beavers were recruiting Anthony Beavers though. He was a four star so we weren’t in contention…….

  26. Any news on Wheeler? Noticed he hasn’t been playing and Fuchs has been DH. Feels like he’s regressed since last year. Was a spark in late season but hasn’t really taken advantage of the increased playing time this year. If he wasn’t a left handed batter I doubt he’d be in the lineup. Batting .256 on the season…you’d hope your DH brings more to the table than that.
Thank God for the free bases the Beavs get…that’s the catalyst of their offense. Offensive #’s still very middle of the Pac…would love to see some more hits and taking advantage of base runners. Bad weather last night but yet again quite a few left on base…14! Goodness. Me thinks those stats need to get better to make a deep run in post season.

    • I still think Melton should come after Forrester in the lineup. With all the walks Forrester draws, he can get on base and let Melton bring him home. Forrester just hasnt hit with the power needed for a cleanup guy this year.
Must be the slower base running speed that keeps him out of the first few slots. Was good to see Forrester grab an extra base last night on a duck fielding error.

  27. Wonder if the Beavs have a shot at taking over #1 after this weekend. Tennessee lost game 1 Thursday. Game 2 they were down 4-2 in the 8th when the umps called a weather postponement, and they’re finishing up that game now. And then another game later today.

    • Tennessee loses game 2 also, so chance they could go 0 for 3 this weekend. Beavs gotta capitalize and sweep oregon.

      • Vols have lost 3 of their last 5, with one of the two wins coming vs mighty (RPI 294) Alabama…A&M.
Bill’s fear of being ranked #1 (with which I agree) may come true on Monday.

EDIT/ADD: Another possible factor: Aaron Fit is in Corvallis for the series, does this make it more likely the Beavs move up??

  28. I think Tennessee holds on to #1 seed. Winning SEC and overall body of work is strong enough even if they sputter to end season.

    • 3
      4

Agreed. And me thinks the Beavs will lose the home series to UCLA somehow. I’m not impressed with the Beav ability to generate runs right now — especially against solid pitching of UCLA. The last three games are very telling against average Duck pitching squad, Beavs barely generating enough run support to win — wasting a Hjerpe gem against Utah. Hope I’m wrong and the hitting trends back to the mean against the Bruins, but I don’t see it. I’ll be in Corvallis for the UCLA series, it’ll be huge!

    • Is there a more unlikable team this year than Tennessee? Is it all the sec teams are assholes and that is a requirement for acceptance to their conference?

  29. Another cold wet and windy night of baseball.

Game plan is the same as yesterday. Get to their starter early and put the pressure on. Eventually the runs will come. I expect the duck offense to get going so they’ll need to score a bunch to win.

    • In 3 head to head games, oregon has 3 runs vs OSU pitchers. Maybe their offense just isnt as good as advertised?

  30. Ucla drops game 1 to UW. The lead is 2 games going into this evening.

No luck on a stream from our Ukrainian friends. Sorry Angry.

    • Could have had more. Bad mental error there on the steal attempt. Nice to see the offense waking up a little today. Keep it going Beavs!

  31. I’m sorry gang. I was at dinner, grabbed my sling tv app to catch some of the game and then Yucks scored those initial runs. Finished dinner and made it home to watch the game and now the Yucks scored 2 more to make it 6-5 Beavs. My bad. Turning game off.

    • He was safe.

Ironic you mention the lack of replay. During Parker’s in game interview with Pat Casey on the radio, he was critical of that fact.

    • The ump looked to be in a good position, it makes one wonder what the hell he was looking at? Seemed like a clear call and not that difficult.

      • I mean the tag was below Boyd’s chest area so clearly he has about two feet ahead of the tag. Yeah no idea what blue saw there. Thank goodness they got the home run call right. Of course duck coach complained.

  32. Is the Duck strategy just to try and really try and slow things down? Can’t watch the game, so curious what you all think?

  33. Whew! 8-7 final. That’s a win and another series W.

    That’ll do Beavs.

Bring the bats and brooms tomorrow

  34. So who’s available out of the bullpen after Pfennings tomorrow?

Really need to get at least 5 innings out of him imo.

    • I would think Carpener, and Sebby would be the only unavailable. Verberg and Brown should be ok to throw back to back days. Those guys need back to back days because they’ll be asked to do that in the postseason. Townsend is probably the first guy in after Pfennigs.

Lattery has to be injured since he hasn’t been seen for a while.

I would say this is one of the few games that isn’t a need to win or must win game.

  35. 5
    6

Impressed with Duck hitters in the last two innings, consistently patient and methodical — Pretty much not swinging at the first two pitches at all, frustrating the Beav pitchers with the inconsistent umpire. Thought the Beav hitters did very well up until the 7th and 8th innings, swinging on everything early in the count and making quick innings for the Duck pitching.
Tomorrow will be another hitting clinic! Will be lucky to sweep.
    Go Beavs!

  36. Cal just walked in the winning run with 2 outs in the last of the 9th to gift Stanford the W. Updated conference standings…..

    Beavs 17-6
    Arizona 14-9
    Stanford 14-9
    UCLA 14-9
    Oregon 13-10

3 game lead with 7 left. Just keep winning series baby.

  37. Last comment for the night……

During Parker’s interview with Pat Casey during the game, Casey mentioned he’s watched Tennessee several times this year and believes the Beavs are the best team in the country.

  38. 2
    1

Maybe I missed an interview with Canham during last night’s game. Anybody find it strange that on a night honoring Pat Casey, the PAC12 commentators interviewed the UO coach for like 10 minutes and kept showing the UO coach presenting Casey with the black bat. Anybody who was there know what that was all about?
Also they mentioned that Grant kid getting turned down by the Beavs and having extra incentive to beat OSU, EVERY TIME HE WENT TO BAT. Good god!!!
Typical Ducks right there taking advantage of the dam and pond the Beavers built. Unbelievable how much exposure the Ducks were getting on a night honoring an OSU legend.

    • They interviewed hjerpe last night. I’m sure duck fans weren’t pleased at every mentioned of Bill Rowe being part in of the title team in 06.

Pretty sure grant made it to campus but did not make it out of fall ball. That’s probably the most interesting fact they have about the ducks. Didn’t talk much about the other players.

      • Was glad the commentators kept jinxing that Walsh kid. They kept saying, “this kid is big”, “he’ll be a star”, “keep an eye on him”…. then he would strike out with runners in scoring position LOL.

    • The PAC network ought to have more explicitly recognized Casey and given more screen time to OSU given Casey’s made the Pac look great w/3 national titles.

Think its some holdover of the Luke saga?

    • Yeah I hope he didn’t give the Schmucks extra incentive with that little stint after striking out Walsh. A sweep would be cherry on top!!!

      • Ryan brown is a legend for that, Walsh is a bitch that tries staring down pitchers. If anything, walsh gives pitchers incentive to want to show his ass up

  39. Thought Dernedde had a quiet but very productive night. Two hits and three runs. That play hustling from second to score on a sacrifice ended up being huge. He seems to be seeing and contacting the ball very well.

  40. Did I hear that right? Verberg is the last guy on the roster who played for Casey? Shakey, but nice win last night. Sweep those Quacks!

  41. Patrick Riley, the ump that blew the call on Boyd (among others) will be behind the plate today if normal rotation of umps is followed. Just sayin’

BTW, I was on the 1b side, maybe not as close as orangejulius, but ya didn’t need to be very close to see Boyd was safe.

  42. Why is Fuchs still in the line-up? Pretty bad at bat with 2 on and 1 down. Batting .253. Missing a real DH that’s for sure.

  43. Pfennings has looked pretty good through 5. Not sure how much longer they’re gonna leave him in there.

    • 69 pitches, that 4 run lead may mean he gets a couple more batters, we’ll see.

Turns out Dorman calls on Boisvert; ending Pfennigs day, I don’t disagree with that move.

  44. There’s our boy Patrick umping behind the plate, calls a ball on a pitch that the quack (Kasevich) knew was a strike. Had to come back from taking a step back to his dugout. Even announcers noticed, calling it “not good look for the ump”.

  45. Wheeler getting an at bat in the 8th. Wonder why he hasn’t been playing? Also, great to have a 4-0 lead going into the 9th. 4 hits today.

  46. Can we all agree that this is one of the better OSU teams in recent memory? Strong up and down the line-up. Deep on the bench. Good pitching. They’ve won titles with less.

  47. 5
    1

I am going to have to upgrade my expectations to Omaha now.

This team was just laser focused today in a game that was perfect for a let down. They just don’t give in.

The 2017 and 2018 were expected to make it based on the talent the team had. This team doesn’t have the multiple first rounders like those teams. Just pure grinders.

    • When Rutschman gets called up, they will have 4 position players from that championship team in the majors. That’s pretty crazy…

  48. That makes up for last year…..need to do it at PK park next year!
Good solid win, beat the ducks at their own game today — homerun ball!

  49. Hoping they wrap it up next week and can use the UCLA series and the tourney to give some bench guys some playing time in case they’re needed for the post-season.

  50. Per Daschel…
“Oregon State’s Jacob Melton this weekend vs. Oregon: 7 -for-10, 7 RBI, 2 HRs.”
    Nice weekend indeed

  51. Updated conference standings after the weekend…..

    Beavs 18-6
    Stanford 15-9
    Arizona 14-10
    UCLA 14-10
    Oregon 13-11
    ASU 12-12

3 game lead with 6 conference games left. Need to finish ahead of Stanford since they won the series. Ducks only one game ahead of Sparky for 5th and guess where they go next weekend?

Stanford finishes at Utah and home vs usc. Need the Utes to get their shit together and at least take a game from them next weekend.

Huge series for the Beavs in Tucson next weekend. First, beat Portland on Tuesday.

  52. Not that it necessarily matters as much when the ultimate goal is getting to Omaha, but how does regular season conference record v. performance in the new Pac-12 tournament factor into determining “conference champion” now? Are the regionals/national seeds set before the tournament is played?

I seem to remember there being a lot of talk about how burned out LSUs arms were after going through the SEC tournament in 2018 before getting to the Corvallis regional/supers and how that tournament run didn’t do them any favors in the postseason.

    • If your teams seed is secure then the conf tourney means nothing. If you are on the bubble to host or just to get in, you’ll burn a lot of arms.

      • It really doesn’t burn arms. You can win it in 4 or 5 games.
        1) Hjerpe 2) Kmatz 3) Pfennigs 4) Hunter 5) Townsend. If they can all put In 60 to 70 you just keep the bullpen working with 1 or less innings.

Head home for the regional 5 days later. Repeat

        • Sure if you’re the beavs and can start 5 guys who can go deep into games and have bullpen arms who can throw multiple innings. Teams like Oregon or Utah don’t have that. They’ll burn every arm they have. Stick with guys longer than they normally would because they need to fill innings. Oregon could barely fill 27 innings this weekend. They’d have to fill 36 to 45 innings to win the tourney.

For top level teams, not as much of an issue. Bubble teams? A big issue.

          • It’s still 5 days rest if you go to the last game. That’s 8 days for the first starter. If a team can’t deal with a regional after 8 days rest they aren’t going deep anyways. I get that some aces might be be up pitching in the tourney on short rest and burn themselves for the regional but they should be able to reshuffle their starters around to get enough fresh arms ready to go. The only difference I see between this and 2 midweek games (the new norm) is people will care more about winning.

    • Right now I think the Beavs have hosting a regional locked up. National seed if they win the PAC-12 regular season championship.

Yes the conference tournament champ gets the automatic bid.

As for the conference tournament? Who cares. Don’t burn through your arms and if you get bounced it’s not a big deal. I’d rather save the arms for regionals.

      • Maybe good practice to go into the PAC tournament business as usual like a typical three game series, then go to the 2nd/3rd/4th string bench as others have hinted. Get the seldom used guys some playing time and reps.
Tournaments are stupid and only taken seriously by the bubble teams — somehow the committee will find a way to give the PAC the shaft if the 6th or 7th place regular season team wins the tournament. They will find a way to include an ACC team like Florida State, or Clemson — teams that historically underperform in the NCAA tournament. I already feel for the deserving PAC team left out, just as the Beavs have a couple of times over the past 10-12 years. Now if it is UO getting the shaft….then maybe the committee is on to something LOL

  53. Looking at Pac12 stats for the season so far, surprising how good all around this team is statistically.

Hjerpe and Melton should be pitcher and player of year. Melton is leading in all major offensive categories and Hjeroe is running away with the best pitcher stat wise.

Team fielding is the best in the conference, pitchers are #2 in strikeouts and far and away the fewest walks allowed. Dorman has adjusted, Mitch has adjusted and this team is every. bit the tough out that 2017-2018 or 2006-2007 were. The bullpen isn’t the team weakness any longer and the staff has done a great job developing the guys for the post-season.

Hjerpe, Kmatz, Pfennings are great starters, with Townsend and Hunter waiting in the wings. Ferrer, Brown, Verburg, Sebby and maybe Boisvert are all nails for the last month. Add a few other guys to fill in match-up wise and this team has a good depth of pitching for the post season.

On offense, they aren’t relying on one guy to carry them and the 1-9 line-up has proven to be a tough match-up for every staff they have faced so far.

I agree with the above comment regarding Omaha, it may be Omaha or bust for these guys after all. Perhaps with a few breaks maybe more than just getting to Omaha……Go Beavs!

  54. I think the Beavs go 5-1 to end the season in conference. 4-2 at least. Stanford needs Beavs to lose 3 and go 6-0. Hate the P12 tournament. I’d go with Hunter and Townsend. We’re a national seed unless we crap ourselves. Mitch has reloaded to the highest level. P12 Coach of the Year. Top 3 for National Coach of the year.

  55. Tuesday’s Portland game should be treated as a tune up for the weekend and an opportunity to let some of the non regulars to get in some action.

A lineup that would look a lot different. Let these guys show what they got.

    C – Smith
    1B – Wheeler
    2B – Guerra
    SS – Trosky
    3B – Dukart
    RF – McDowell
    CF – T Dukart
    LF – Kasper
    DH – Myro

P – Hunter, Thorsteinson, Lawson, Hibbard, Grewe, Case, Quinn

  56. Not gonna claim to be an expert since i haven’t watched one iota of sec baseball, but…..

Was looking over Tennessee’s schedule. They’ve played one common opponent, Xavier which they won 10-1 at home in a mid week game.

They’re record is 42-6. Of those 48 games they’ve played a total of 12 true road games (10-2) and 4 neutral site games (2-2). 30 of their 42 wins have come at home.

Looking over their SEC schedule they don’t play the top 3 teams in the SEC west (Arkansas, Texas A&M and LSU).

In their division they are one of only 2 teams above .500. The other being Georgia whom they host this weekend for 3 games. Vanderbilt is currently the 3rd place team with a 12-12 record.

I’m not saying they aren’t a good team, they’re obviously a very good team to win 42 out of 48 games. But I don’t think feasting on cupcakes at home OOC and not playing very many games against the better teams in the SEC has inflated their record.

You can put me on the record saying…..

    1. Tennessee will not get to Omaha

    2. Tennessee will not win the SEC tournament

    • Very good stats to back up your prediction. I haven’t seen any sec games either. I am personally curious if anyone has a valid argument for Tennessee. I saw something about them having 4- 1st round draft pick pitchers, but beyond that I know nothing.

Hopefully they roll thru more cupcakes and Beavs can take them down as they can be more gritted.

    • oh good lord, should have read…………

“I think feasting on cupcakes at home OOC and not playing very many games against the better teams in the SEC has inflated their record.”

    • 1
      1

Telling stat comparing UT and OSU’s resumes:

      UT opponents by quartile (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4): 14, 17, 5, 12
      OSU opponents by quartile: 14, 27, 3, 3

So 87% of OSU’s opponents have been Q1/Q2 compared to only 65% of UT’s. In fact, OSU and Nike are tied for the fewest games against Q3/Q4 opponents.

The thing that seems to be skewing SOS ranking is the heavy weighting of all these SEC teams with .500 conference records. Vandy, UGA, Auburn, and Florida are all in the top 15 in RPI and all are at .500 or within a game of .500 in conference play.

    • Whew, D1 out with the top 25 and, despite Aaron Fitt reporting from Corvallis, leave the Vols in the dreaded #1 spot.
The say, with a straight face I’m sure, that:
“…Tennessee still has more high-end wins against regional-caliber opposition, headlined by road sweeps of Florida and Vanderbilt, a home sweep of Georgia Southern, a home series win against Auburn and a 2-1 showing against Big 12 opponents at the Shriners College Classic.

      • 1
        1

Baseball america puts the beavs at #1.

But polls are what have you done for me lately, not really a full resume reflection.

        • Georgia….ahem Southern is the baseball juggernaut in the deep south, kind of like Alabama…ahem A&M

Lessons to be learned for all: any school with “Georgia” or “Alabama” gain in respectability as an opponent or as a regional power, for future SOS/RPI needs to help SEC continue to appear dominant in all things sports related.

          • GA Southern is nationally rated and #5 in RPI. I’d put them in a similar category to Gonzaga as a high-achieving small conference team.

  57. This may be an unpopular opinion, but just some food for thought……

If Jake Pfennings can pitch like he did Sunday and build up some more stamina in the next couple weeks?

I would consider moving him to Friday night.

    Friday – Pfennings
    Saturday- Hjerpe
    Sunday – Kmatz

Gives you that righty – lefty – righty weekend rotation. Keep your opponent off balance. Hey, it worked well many years ago with Dallas Buck, Anton Maxwell and Jonah Nickerson.

I’m probably crazy. Maybe try it in the pac-12 tournament?

    • Here is a text-based recap of all 17 Rutschman hits for those of you that would rather read the highlights:
      1. Batting Left – Bloop to Left-center
      2. Batting Left – Ground rule double down the LF line
      3. Batting Right – Opposite field blooper down the RF line
      4. Batting Left – Opposite field HR
      5. Batting Right – Opposite field double in the gap
      6. Batting Left – Double over center fielders head
      7. Batting Left – Line Drive Opposite field
      8. Batting Right – Line Drive into Left
      9. Batting Right – Line Drive over pitcher’s head
      10. Batting Left – Bloop to center
      11. Batting Left – Opposite field grounder in the gap
      12. Batting Right – Opposite field line drive
      13. Batting Right – Homer to left
      14. Batting Left – Grounder up the middle
      15. Batting Left – Grounder just past the 3rd Baseman
      16. Batting Left – Line drive down the LF line
      17. Batting Left – Bloop to shallow left-center

    • One of the last players he hugged on that video was number “17”. Even the dude’s mis-hits were falling. Dam smart hitter!

  58. OT: Have you guys seen the overhead video of the Kentucky Derby? Pretty incredible work by the winning horse/jockey to navigate from the back of the pack at the turn. 180-1 longshot wins the derby

  59. I hope OSU takes an early L in the Pac12 tournament and saves their main arks from having to pitch at all that weekend.
Good oppirtunity for many of their backups to get some reps on the field too. More to lose than gain from that stupid tournament.

  60. Question of the day. Since there is a lot of talk of who is better, Beavs or Tennessee.

Do you want the Beavs to have the #1 seed going into the tourney? Yes or No? They’d still be a top 8 seed.

Everyone should know where I stand.

      • Seeding shouldn’t matter. They should be motivated anyway…

Get the #1 seed and be the first #1 to win it all.

        • Whatever the seeding – I hope the NCAA doesn’t do it where two Pac-12 or west schools are assigned to the same super regional group. It always bugs me when they take two top teams who both have seriously good chances for Omaha – and then screw them over because, well – they like more SEC teams and their fans in Omaha.

    • I don’t want that #1 seeding, but Daschel tweets a counter argument……and indicates he (maybe) follows AB:
“I’m hearing some “don’t rank us No. 1” or “don’t want the No. 1 overall seed” regarding Oregon State baseball. Which is ridiculous. You want the highest seed possible. The best team the 1 seed faces on the CWS road is the 16 seed. The higher the seed, the better the CWS odds.”

If he’s right that “higher the seed, the better the CWS odds”……why don’t #1’s win more often? or at all?

      • He definitely does. The casual fan would be upset that they aren’t ranked #1.

I’ve been the main driver of opposing the #1 seed. I don’t know that many would have picked up on it on their own.

Since the postseason expanded to 64 teams in 1999, only one #1 seed has won it all. Miami did it in 1999.

  61. Jacob Melton comment on sweeping the Ducks:
“It means a lot. Oregon was a school that, out of high school, really didn’t give me an opportunity. Their prior head coach told me I would never be able to play DI baseball, so I’ve kind of had that as a chip on my shoulder the last two years playing against them. Obviously it felt good this year to come out and pick up five wins against them.”

That coach is an idiot to say that to him even if it was true. Just tell the kid he isn’t a good fit for your team and to try somewhere else. What an ass.

  62. NCAA boad of directors issued new NIL guidance today around boosters/colleftives getting involved in paying kids to come to their school.

Which amounts to wagging their finger at those peaky boosters, because they have no jurisdiction when it comes to punishing boosters. And they also won’t punish athletes who make deals with boosters.
So basically nothing will change. Although they should go after schools and coaching staffs who discuss recruiting with boosters and encourage these targeted payouts for specific players.

  63. In comparing OSU to Tennessee during Top 25 Chat, Kendall Rogers says Tennessee’s body of work “dwarfs” OSU’s, then goes on to say the teams are much closer than previously thought. Kendall used some poor choice of words there….anyways, glad they kept Tennessee at #1. They forget that they influence their overall ranking — basically introduce bias into their evaluation — not fully objective as they have to defend their current and past rankings. Again, I am biased too, but dam the Beavs are getting hot at the right time!!!!

Jayrok: You were clear last week that it would take a lot to move the Vols out of first place. Wondering how the conversation went after their series at Kentucky? They looked a bit more human. If they were swept, would your decision have changed?
Kendall Rogers: JAYROCK — Great question. Aaron, Roons and myself certainly discussed moving Oregon State to No. 1. OSU is playing at a very high level. With that said, the Vols have been unreal all but one weekend this season, and their entire body of work dwarfs the Beavs’ at the moment. It’s definitely a mulligan, but one mulligan that is definitely deserved. WTS – I think the separation between Tennessee and OSU is a lot less than I thought it was a week ago. I watched two of the games between the Beavs and Ducks and was extremely impressed with the Beavs. Getting Pfennigs back is huge for the Beavs, too. Check out Aaron’s piece today on those guys — great stuff.
Kendall Rogers: Also, just to get on the record, Cooper Hjerpe is my slam dunk pick for Pitcher of the Year in college baseball. Yeah, not exactly going out on a limb… but an unreal season. I was intrigued that Aaron thought he was a mid-first-rounder, too.

    • Funny thing is the Beavs bats just havent been very hot lately, but the pitching has been coming into form just in time for the post season.
Bow if the offense can pick up back to the clip they were hitting at the start of the year, it could be a pretty fun post season.

    • Tennessee had a mulligan when they lost back to back to Tennessee Tech and Alabama and now this is their second mulligan with a series loss to Kentucky which would be similar to OSU losing the series at Utah.

Tennessee is 11-5 out of their last 16 while beavs are 14-2 last 16.

We are five early season 9th-10th inning losses (Irvine, ASU, WSU, Stan gm1, Cal) from being better than the 2017 team which was the best team we ever had and according to Boyd’s world the best team ever in college baseball since 1995 Fullerton.

Our Boyd’s world ISR is sitting between our 2013 national semifinal team and our 2017 national semifinal team. This team has a higher ISR rating than the 2018 team of Kwan(MLB), Madrigal(MLB), Grenier(AAA), Larnach(MLB), Rutschman(MLB next Monday).

    • Looking at Beav schedule, it’s every bit as strong as Tennessee IMO. #2 RPI supports that theory. Basically Roger’s is saying SEC dwarfs P12. Bias opinion but who cares. Hopefully Tenn gets #1 seed and Beavs see them in Omaha. I think we’d fair well
