  1. Hard to care but 2-2 gets them to 8-10 in conference, 16-14 overall. Win a game in the PAC tourney and the NIT is very possible, win 2 and its a virtual lock.

Of course they gotta win 2 first.

What is unreal is how Oregon is somehow on the NCAA bubble. Ridiculous.

  2. Why the fuck was Cooke tossed???? I didn’t see anything on the replay that warranted an ejection. But I did see a chicken shit smack to his head by the USC player. Unreal. Luck o the beavs

    • What’s the point of wasting time at the f-ing monitor if you are just going to ignore the facts to protect your shitty, fragile ego? SC player basically threw a punch (more like a bitch slap), he should miss a game.

      • Sometimes I think those ref huddles aren’t about the correct call, but how to save face once they realize a bad call was made. There also must be a power dynamic amongst the three refs and seniority and “head ref” must be at play. There’s just no other way to make sense of it. They called a flagrant 2 and there was hardly contact?? They also had to have seen the head slap by the SC guy.

        • I think you’ve got it correct with the “save face” comment. Why else would they stand there in that huddle and cover their own mouths while they discuss? They trying to make sure any lip readers in the audience can’t “listen” in on their discussion.

I tend to think they decided at that point, they wouldn’t let OSU lose the game based on the fact OSU had a big lead and lost their point guard for no good reason. You may have noticed on the play where Brandt nearly got the 10 second violation, one ref was going to call the violation before that same ref that booted Cooke came running in to say they got the timeout called in time. (Of course the Beavs turned it over immediately after that, but that’s another story)

  3. Luck O the Beavs. USC’s Tyrell smacks Cooke in the back of the head as Cooke runs by, then a few seconds later, they come together ever so slightly (no elbows mind you) and Cooke gets a flagrant 2 and is ejected? WTF Pac-12 refs???

  4. Cue the Beaver meltdown. 23 point lead down to 10 with under 3:00 to go, and the team shows no urgency to get the ball past mid court before a near 10 second violation. Were lucky to get a timeout

  5. Another great decision making coaching job by CR….The poorest coach I have seen at Oregon State…Barton foul and he’s laughing in the team huddle on the floor. Embarrassing for Beaver Nation but I am sure BDC will find a way to extend CR’s contract!

    • His assistants are coaching harder than he is. He’s just sitting watching it all go down while the assistants are up and yelling instructions to the players. He’s more checked out than Beaver Nation.

  6. So CR pulls the second coming of Dean Smith out of his ass and almost costs the team a game. Sue me, but I kind of wanted to see a complete collapse in hopes the pressure would be turned up further. The win only means anything if they somehow get a NIT bid and BDC rewards CR for it.

    • I say no more extensions until he gets this team to the dance. NIT is a step in the right direction, but does not warrant an extension. But as we all know BDC rewards mediocrity. I have my doubts that CR can get the Beavs to the big dance

      • A lot goes into it, but an NIT bid would suggest a finish ranked as a team in the upper third of college basketball. I think anything short of winning at least 2 of the next 3 and/or at least a semifinal appearance in Vegas, and POOF go any NIT hopes. CBI very likely unless they can somehow get past UCLA or Zona or both. But they had better play better than they did tonight, because then the CBI picture gets murky. Hell, even if you picked five of Jacks’ cats at random and threw them out on a basketball court they might play better than CR’s Beavs did during that 2nd half.

        • You seem to obsessed with my imaginary kitties. Should I be worried that that’s a euphemism for the two females in the house. If that was the case, then I’d like to have a talk with you one-on-one.

17 wins is the benchmark for the NIT. Our RPI will rise five points after each of the next three games. And it will rise an additional four to seven if we win one.

  7. I think 1 more regular season win and a tournament win gets them to the NIT.

They’d be 8-10 in conference play and 17-15 overall. That is right on par with the record of the last few teams to enter the NIT have.

I think the key will be how many NIT bids get taken by regular season conference champs. As a Beaver fan I think we need to support most small conference tourneys going chalk.

  8. Final record will probably be 15-16. Won’t beat UCLA, especially if their two starters are reinstated, two losses at home against the Zona’s then a quick one and done in the tournament. Will that trash the dream of CBI glory? JB

    • Considering they went with a 14-18 record one year and I believe 14-17 another they should be good to go for the CBI at 15-16 unless it is no longer affiliated with the Gazelle Group, then CR will be in trouble.

  9. BASEBALL:
According to the Barometer, the rotation for this weekend will not include Jake Thompson. Schultz, Wetzler, Fry, and Moore will be starters.
Did I miss something about Thompson? Casey has talked about getting Schultz back into the pen, not this weekend I guess.

    • If Schultz wants to start I think he deserves the shot considering how he’s pitched and the fact that he’s a SR.

Threre was a MBB game last night? Totally missed it.

P-12 clears Cooke to play on Sunday. No news on the officiating crew though.

  10. 7 turnovers in the first half. This is about to get ugly.

Looks like the grapplers are on their way to back-to-back conference titles, beavergopher!

  11. Beavers lead UCLA 38-29 at the half. Beavers outrebounding UCLA by 10 and holding the Bruins to 38% shooting from the field, 20% from three

  12. Brandt has a guy boxed out and then doesn’t even bother to jump to grab the board. Roberto then has a mental error on defense that leads to a bucket

  13. Classic Oregon State. Team is just beating themselves. Missed free throws, missed wide open threes, lazy passes, driving into traffic.

  14. Beavers down 67-61. Biggest reason for deficit is the foul line. 11 of 20 on free throws. The usual suspects are doing what they do. Moreland and Collier 2 of 8 from the foul line

  15. Down 7 with 2 mins to go, told the wife to turn the channel – CR can’t close out a game to save his life. I hate being correct……

    • The game was lost because Hallice Cooke couldn’t make an uncontested shot to save his life or make a smart decision with the basketball as well Moreland can’t make free throws
