1:30 on Fox Sports 1.
Big crowd expected. If you’re in town go enjoy it.
It’s a 1:30 PST tip….
Today will be a war of attrition. Both teams have little depth so playing defense without getting into foul trouble is big. UW lost their big man that caused so many problems for the Beavs in the last matchup. UW is still a terrible 3 point shooting team.
UW is dependant on Williams-Goss. So shutting him down is key.
Gomis and N’Diaye should look to have some big games with Upshaw no longer in the paint.
huge game imho. win and the Beavs still have sliver of hope for NCAA tourny
Your eastern european stream
Big game. Gotta beat the dog today. Pesky leg humpers got the best of us last time on the news of no Victor Robbins and Upshaw was a monster. Gotta keep the home streak going.
Victor Robbins arrested for DUII, 7 games into his 10 game suspension. It was nice knowing you.
if we play UW in the pac12 tourny he might choose to start using heroin before that game.
What a dumbshit.
Me first attitude. Always has been
Jesus. What a dumb ass! Yes, Robbins will likely be dismissed from the team.
Name always made me think of Winnie the Pooh.
Daniel Gomis has zero lift in his legs. Leg injuries still having major impact. Likely never becomes player he could have been without leg issues. Still good defensively but can’t do much offensively because of it
he was always pretty limited offensively. I’m hoping he’s still not the player he will eventually become in a few years.
missed dunk said it all….
Looks like a good crowd.
Beavs getting hosed a bit by the officials early on
The defense in the last 2 halves of basketball has been absurd. Suffocating and smothering defense. Washington looks lost
If we were a little more competent offensively, we’d be up by 20 now instead of 8.
These fans are a bit nuts today.
anybody wanna get in the chat room?
Anytime Sanders touches the ball it’s a turnover lol
Should make a great WR!
Man, Sanders cannot give them any minutes. 4 on 5 when he is in there and Huskies right back in the game.
The walk ons just aren’t getting better in P-12 situations. I guess it’s the current reality at this time. Cheik needs to do something positive to earn more minutes. Ideally he should be playing 15 minutes or so as a seventh man.
Olaf is not getting it done once again. Any kind of physical contact and he can’t play through it. He had a nice run earlier this year but right now he looks completely overwhelmed
He travels pretty well.
Olaf MIA. One shot in first half, which was a miss. One rebound, 4 TO’s
LadyBeavs down 8 with 9 left in first half.
Finally the story on Gabby Hanson comes out: concussion like symptoms after UCLA.
It will be humbling if the Beavers drop two in a row. ASU looks in trouble with Cal, so this game is a good chance to regain sole possession of first in the Pac-12. Ratty first halves is going to do them in, if they can’t figure out how to get off the blocks a little better. Looks like WSU is shooting lights out so far.
Outside of the Reid, who is bull in the china closet, we’ve got nothing down low. Gomis gets the ball in the low post, and you can tell he feels like he should do something with it, but he doesn’t really know how. Need to learn the jump-hook or something.
That was one ugly half of basketball, whew. Lucky to be leading, I hope we sharpen up some in the second half.
Jarmal Reid’s foul trouble hurt Oregon State. Needed him out there when Olaf was stinking it up. He was playing alright in limited minutes. Beavers should be up big. Played great defense and only up 3 points.
I am stunned at the Robbins news. Is he even on the bench or is he in jail? I noticed the bail amount listed. Olaf and LMW need to get their shit together on the offense. I don’t like this waiting until 7 seconds on the shot clock crap either. They are passing up early open looks at times.
Connor reported he was on the bench and headed to the locker room with about 4 min left in the half.
The commentators are really bugging me. Oregon State was playing stifling defense most of that first half, leaving Washington at a loss. Yet they insist that it’s mostly due to Washington’s sloppiness, but when Washington got consective “stops” due to two sloppy Beav turnovers, it’s “good defense”.
LadyBeavs down 1 at the half, adjustments on D got them back into the game.
Damn, Gabby limps off with help. Rough patch for that gal, hope not serious.
Cal beats ASU by one. Go Beavs.
Refs really just need to let these guys play. It appears they are consistent but it’s really killing the flow of the game.
Anybody else think the color guy sounds like Brock Douche Bag Huard?
That’s the name I couldn’t think of. But I thought the same thing while watching the broadcast version a couple minutes ago.
Connor has a short piece up on Robbins.
“During the under-8 media timeout, team trainer Tom Fregoso approached him and Robbins headed toward the locker room.”
This telecaster is insane. The walk ons are NOT ready for D1 basketball.
They were oblivious when the walk ons were in there and the Beavs immediately fell apart for that two minutes in the first half.
Tinkle has a puzzle piece on his jacket. What’s the significance?
Robbins’ behavior is puzzling?
Thanks, I figured it was reference to something health. But I was hoping it was representative of the teams future in some way. That this year was just a piece of next years puzzle or reaching out to some key recruit or something, but ok, artism, I’ll go down next week and get unvaccinated to avoid that!
Duviever (sp?) makes so many dumb mistakes. Great driver who still can’t finish. Then bonehead plays like stepping on the line.
He could average 16 to 18 points a game if he could eliminate the 2 or 3 WTF misses every game and consistenly nail the open three but I like his effort and power on the those drives. He’s going to be fighting for his share of the playing time next year with the other guards coming.
LadyBeavs ride Syd’s 3 and a FG by Gibson to a 3 pt lead with 11:30 to go.
Gabby back in, leg/knee must be OK.
N’Diaye contributing offensively? What is this tomfoolery?
Standing in the right spot on a couple offensive rebounds.
We have done worse than that in recent years…
Have to play smart and make FT’s.
Lady Beavs controlling things as the clock goes under 4. Strongest defensive effort we’ve seen in 3 games, without it they would have lost by 10. Game not over however. Glad the team didn’t fold down 24-10.
Jacobsen was annoying as an analyst, he’s praising Andrew Andrews play when the fucking Huskies are down 18 with 3 mintues to go and ignoring OSU. I think it’s still a little bit of ignorance and lack of respect from everyone regarding the Beavs. Almost like they really can’t quite process what Tinkle has done with this group.
Best home start in school history? Not bad…
Lady Beavs finish it off. Nice day to be a Beav.
Lady Beavs take it 61-56. Siegner ices the game hitting 3 of 4 FT. Big game next Friday vs ASU at home.
61-56, Ladies get it done. A real brawl at times.
Fitting, Gabby gets the final def RB as time runs out.
4 of final 6 games are in Gill, including the final vs Cal on the same Saturday when baseball plays a doubleheader.
No excuse to fail to support this team.
Agreed. Let’s fill up Gill for the gals. Softball lost to Cal Poly 1-0 in extras today. Finish 5-1 for the weekend… Not to shabby.
Connor tweets, “Tinkle said OSU “certainly (is) not going to turn our backs” on Victor Robbins in wake off DUII citation. Said he needed more info.””
I’d have to agree on that. It is dumb on top of dumb, but they are two separate issues. He needs some kind of help getting his head straight first. If we jettison him without discussion, then he becomes “former Oregon State guard” whenever he gets in or makes trouble in the future.
The kid needs a save. There will be discipline which is not concurrent. But we need a save as well. Tinkle needs to turn him around to prove he has the mettle for a big time job. And this is one of those instances. It can’t all be puppies and unicorns.
well, any hopes of ernie Kent beating the ducks are out the window 12 minutes in. dcks lead 23-4.
Okay, maybe this makes me a terrible person for saying it, but… If Robbins gets himself kicked off the team, isn’t that kind of a relief? I’m afraid his return would jack up the team’s chemistry at this point.
I want him to pull it together for his own sake since it would appear he has substance and judgment issues, but as far as basketball goes, if he was DWI, just enough already.
i doubt he’ll play again in a Beavs uniform. Isnt this violation #3? They may not kick him off the team, but I doubt he has the mental toughness to stay out of trouble before next season starts. Really has let his team down as well as himself. too bad because he was starting to show he belonged in this league from a talent standpoint
Doesn’t make you a terrible person at all, but it’s too bad because Robbins was starting to emerge as the go to guy on offense. He was averaging close to 20 points per 40 minutes of play. That’s a huge deal for a team that struggles so much on offense. Wasted talent.
Despite the scoring, he has to be kicked off the team. WT’s first tough decision. Let’s see what he does. As a fan I’d like to see Robbins stick on the team, but I don’t see how you can do that as a coach and not imply there are different rules for different players and/or basketball players are above the law.
I don’t usually even vouch for 20 year old young men losing a lot of opportunity, but he does not deserve the privilege of playing basketball for Oregon State. This is just too much. Even with a clean slate, that’s 2 infractions.
Apparently, the initial suspension wasn’t for substance abuse, but DUII is a huge no no, especially when you’re ALREADY suspended. Just chill out, especially when you’re not of age. He’s gotta go.
Was H. Cooke transferring out and basically calling CR a crappy coach the final straw or did a few boosters twist BDC’s arm? All I can say is thank god. Imagine how shifty this team would be with CR still [not] coaching these same players. Even if da Beav’s don’t win another game, Tinkle should be Coach of the Year. He has been a miracle worker, plain and simple.
I’m kind of curious if CR had any idea the kind of player he had in GP-2 and IF he would have used him correctly. Fortunately, we don’t have to consider that scenario now.
Arizona upsets the Stanford women’s team
And Cal downs ASU, so OSU cinches up on Pac-12 lead.
I think the only way the beavs get into the NCAA is with an at large bid. Lack of depth will hurt them in the Pac 12 tourney. They aren’t built to win 3 or 4 games in a row. Finish in third place and then win at least one in the Pac 12 tourney is best case scenario.
Here’s what I think must happen for them to get a shot, but it could be fantasy with such a thin team. One injury, one foul out and it could all go poof.
Wins- Cal, USC, Utah, Colorado and Oregon
Losses- UCLA, Stanford,
21-9 regular season might give them a shot no matter what happens in the P-12 tourney, but one win should help solidify. Like I said not likely, but it’s crazy that we can have fun speculating.
They would need to beat Stanford. Not enough quality wins without that one. Would probably need to beat Arizona/Utah again in the tournament too
Without Victor Robbins coming back its gonna be tough, real tough.
Robbins should be suspended indefinitely (it would look really bad to bring him back this season–something the UO would do/does. But I believe in redemption. If he cleans up, is a good student, changes, then maybe he has a place on the team. If he is kicked off, he could start a spiral and may end up in jail forever. Rehab time.
It depends on where he stands under the athletic code. Generally athletes get three strikes. Coaches don’t have to give three, it just depends on the offenses. Looks like the suspension was his first strike and the DUI will be his second. The second offense is usually 50% of the season, so that would mean he is done and would miss some of next season.
BUT BUT, according to the beat reporters, Tinkle only found out about it after the game so I’d be pretty surprised if Robbins survived into the next season.
Nope, the first strike was in a previous season when he served a three game suspension for “violation of team rules”.
By my count he has had his three strikes.
It’s kind of interesting to me that although it happened last night apparently Tinkle nor any staff knew about the DUI before the game?
Not sure it Robbins didn’t want to be a distraction before the game and kept it to himself or what? And then he is led away from the bench late in game, so somebody informed someone on the staff and that action was decided upon.
I hope the guy gets help, hard to fathom the level of “screw up” on this one. Underage drinking for starters and then seriously compounded with a DUI.
Who was the big man who decomitted when CR left? Where did he end up?
Manderson? Wound up at Texas Tech
Yes, that’s one of them…….was there also another prospect at one point….Oliver? Maybe I’m thinking of another team.
