Lady Beavs can clinch the Pac-12 tonight. I read they are 0-28 all-time at Stanford. Is that right? If so, that is crazy. More Beav incompetence that hopefully comes to an end tonight.

Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t 2 of their 3 losses when Wiese got hurt? And the other just a 3 point loss to Tennessee. That’s impressive. I think this is a final 4 team based on how they’ve played. Unlike last year, they are more consistent and seem ready for bigger challenges this year. Tonight’s a big one and great test. I think the Beavs are the better team, but given their track record at Stanford it’s hard to pick them. Still, I think they eek out a close win.

8pm on Pac-12 network.

  1. “Lady Beavs can clinch the Pac-12 tonight”

No, they cannot. The Pac-12 champion won’t be decided until Sunday. A loss in either game this weekend and an ASU sweep in LA would give ASU the Pac-12 title. Beavs biggest test is tonight. ASU plays at UCLA on Sunday. You are correct that the BWB have never beaten Stanford at Maples

    aaaaaaaaaaand FIRST!

      • realistically he is probably correct. Win at Maples and they probably have it locked up. I can’t seem them losing to Cal. Biggest game in program history tonight imo with the biggest monkey on their back having never won at Maples.

      • They would clinch a share of it and the number 1 seed for the conference tournament. If they finish tied with ASU it would be a shared title. Even though the Lady Beavs won the only head to head meeting. ASU certainly has the tougher road swing at USC and UCLA

  2. Hope the gals win, but if I had to bet money, I’m taking Stanford. They almost won here, and their place is the WBB version of the USC Coliseum for football. We never win there, period.

Then again, we’ve never had a team this good :)

    • I read the story on the link but don’t understand the “karma” part of your comment.

You’re saying that young lady at U of Oregon deserved a torn ACL? She had it coming, huh?

      Wow!

          • Maybe you need to grow up and move out of your mom’s basement and then stop yourself next time you want to proclaim “karma” when a womens college basketball player has a knee injury. I read that player’s bio, she has a bunch of U of O and pac12 records, and has donated time every week during college helping disabled kids. Not like she’s some academic fraud case or has a police record and has got away with crimes or something.

I get it, you like to be the anonymous internet tough guy who spends all day talking shit on this website. But when you go cyber bully on a women’s basketball player, it just shows how much of a piece of shit coward you are.

    • Looking at the box score Brunner has even shot a basket yet. That seems weird, she’s their best player. Anybody watching? Did she get hurt?

  3. I think what I hate most about OSU is that they/we hold almost every record or ‘streak’ in incompetence. 0-29 at Stanford is up there.

    • well this one’s over. They better hope ASU loses to UCLA on Sunday.

BTW, Angry that statement is not true. Northwestern has never made the NCAA tournament in men’s hoops. The only P5 school to never accomplish that. There’s futility records out there that belong to schools other than OSU

      • I said records or streaks. I’m not sure if 0-29 is a record, but it sure is a long streak. Civil War football is a bad streak…almost ten years now. The men’s tourney, etc. The futility is just annoying. It doesn’t seem like any other pac-12 school has this level of futility.

    • Angry, you mean the wicked football losing streak that OSU has going AT USC. Hasn’t it been like 100 years since we got a road win down there?

  4. Just like I was afraid of, blew all the energy against UCLA and came out crappy for what was obviously going to be the toughest conference game of the year.

Congrats to ASU and the crazy realtor

    • for what? They’ve only clinched a share of the conference title. BWB can still earn a share of it. Just need to win Sunday and hope UCLA gives them some help. BTW, UCLA is unbeaten at home

  5. Conference championship and final four teams do not get smacked by 20+ twice in a season. Discouraging because if this isn’t the year, when will it be?

  6. Scott R got schooled. No adjustments and let the game get out of hand. SW hogs the ball too much and gets the team in trouble when the gal guarding her is quicker. Dribbles into double teams. Ruth and Gabby only ones that seemed to be awake. El Mucho Choko!

  7. Sunday is it. ASU/UCLA at 11am, BWB/Cal play at the same time. UCLA probably wants it just as bad since they own the tie breaker over Stanford and would be the 3rd seed at the tournament. Those top 4 are already locked in to a first round bye. I have a feeling the BWB and Stanford are gonna be seeing each other again in the conference tournament

      • betcha a six pack that doesn’t happen this year.

quarter final game will be against one of these four,

        Cal, Utah, USC or WSU

        • Who would’ve thought we’d lose to 9th place Colorado last year? This pathetic performance looks like the meltdown at the end of last season. If the team makes it to the conference tournament finals or the NCAA elite 8, I’ll make a donation to both AB and OSU.

          • while this team is a year older, have you forgotten that Stanford is still a really good team/program?

Did it suck they played that badly and lost? Uh, yeah. But they’re still 15-2 and still have a shot at the conference title on Sunday.

I’m not saying they’ll win the conference tournament or get to the final four. Getting to the final four takes great players, great coaching and some luck. But I don’t see a first game conference tournament flame out or first weekend exit from the NCAA tournament either. These last two seasons have been some of the most successful in OSU history for the BWB. Only one team gets to hoist the trophy at the end of the tournament. I don’t expect this team to do that

          • What you say is true, but I still say this year’s team is gonna flame out like last year’s. It’s too late in the season to get blown out like this. Smacks of the latest #1 OSU baseball team that we knew deep in our hearts was in big trouble as they limped into the postseason, despite the overall body of work.

        • I checked the stats, and literally every conference opponent Stanford played at home did better than we did, except for Arizona who lost by 24 instead of 22. ASU beat them. Oh, and one of tree’s best players was out tonight.

In any case, at least I’m putting my money where my mouth is. Anyone want to take the opposite pledge and make a special donation if the women *don’t* go to the conference finals nor NCAA elite 8?

  8. Crappy day for the Lady Beavs. Hoops is non-competitive in their most important game of the year. Softball loses to Loyola Marymount with their best pitcher on the mound. I only mention softball because typically they can’t afford these types of losses if they want to make the tourney because wins are so much harder in conference play.

  9. I tend to agree with Scotty. Just a terrible loss for a senior laden team with a championship on the line. Out coached, out played, and out hustled. JW and SW, the team leaders, that were supposed to make this years team impervious to a shit performances were awful. Was the pregame meal turkey and stuffing? Three straight possessions where they literally threw the ball to Stanford while on offense. SR gets an F for the coaching job. Too busy whining to the refs, instead of making some adjustments.
