    • And for those that like to watch train wrecks it will be on the PAC12 network. In case you didn’t notice, ASU beat DePaul by 22 the other day.

        • I’m not sure yet. I don’t know how to process an animal, so I was thinking maybe taking a local training course. The guy who gave me the handgun/shotgun training teaches a hands-on course on that as well. It’s tough, though, because I’ve done conservation my whole life…I’m not even sure I can kill an animal. But I’m intrigued, and I really want to get off relying on grocery stores and such. Not just the cost, but the chemicals and processing. That’s the big motivation.

          • You should ask around and see if there is any upland game bird hunting to be had in your area. Grouse, quail, chukar, pheasant etc are all really good eating birds and the hunting is fun. Also usually takes place in decent weather.

If so, find the local skeet/trap range and get up to speed shooting clay pigeons, which is also a fucking hoot.

Did you get a hunting/home defense combo Mossberg with a long hunting barrel and an 18″ HD barrel? Pretty vesatile scattergun, I have a 590 out in the shop staged as my outside HD gun. Keep the Benelli M1S90 in the house.

          • There is definitely Wild Pig in Santa Barbara County. And a true conservationist would love for you to take a few. Find a good local butcher to process and package for you. I think CA requires a tag now. It’s all about the revenue.

          • Yeah there are a lot of wild pigs. The guys I worked with used to hunt them all the time for work, then take the bounty home and make sausage, etc. Said it tasted a bit like fennel (which grows wildly here). I never tried it. Wish I did.

There’s a lot of quail around here, too. But I never see any grouse, pheasant, or turkey. When I was living in North Dakota my teammates hunted/cooked grouse and pheasant (along with a half dozen other ducks and geese), and I didn’t love them…dried out so quick. The guys didn’t know how to prepare it, I think.

          • Upland bird is some of the finest table fare out there. Dried meat is just over cooked meat, and that’s where a lot of the “gamey” complaints come from in fowl or venison. Medium rare to medium mallard breast over a bed of rice is unreal…overcooked and it’d pass as dried out liver.

If you are looking into saving money, don’t have sausage made. Get a grinder and some seasoning that you like. I buy pork butts on sale and grind them myself…make sausage for about 1/5 the cost of Jimmy Dean. You’ll want to learn to separate the primal cuts into workable steaks. It’s pretty easy without much knowledge – the muscle groups are the cut lines, and you’ll learn pretty quick what will make steaks, roasts, burger/sausage.

I can about half of what most people make burger out of when I process an elk or deer. Canned venison is unbelievably good. Use it for sandwiches, tacos, sloppy joes, or just eat it cold out of the jar.

Not much goes in the waste pile.

          • agree absolutely about the duck breast. put kosher salt into whatever pan you’re using – high heat, start the duck fat side down in a cast iron stovetop pan for crispy or in a dutch oven for non-crispy until skin is browned – turn it over, moderate heat a little and cook until a deep rose color – if it’s being cooked in the stovetop pan, 10 – 15 minutes at the most, rice (some wild) and a radicchio and bitter green salad and you’re talking $100 in a 5-star restaurant.

          • Bingo…

My all time favorite is to flambe at the end with a little bit of bourbon, then pull the breast out, deglaze with a tiny bit of broth and pat of butter. Reduce while the breast is resting. Spoon over the sliced meat. You’ll wow your friends with this one…

          • Yeah, these guys just didn’t know how to cook it. They made amazing venison, though.

Have you ever had muskox? I had them in Alaska…so freaking good. I want to go back to Alaska just to eat muskox burgers.

I’m looking to save money, but more importantly I am looking to control our food chain a bit more. I am scared about some of the processing methods and chemicals used in our foods. Right now I am buying from a local organic farm, but it’s like $9 for a lb of beef. And I learn no skills. So if I hunt, it would be a great skill, but also get us off chemicals/processing and reduce costs. I just have to get over killing animals (I don’t even kill insects…it’s bad).

In the past year I’ve learned how to dehydrate fruits/make jerky, pickle, and vacuum seal. Also make all our cosmetics now, so handmade soaps, shampoos, etc. Again, to get us off chemicals and become self-sufficient. I might volunteer on the local farm just to see what I can learn. I’ve always had decent outdoor skills, but this past year I’ve been on a homesteading kick…I feel like Americans might need these skills again one day (…maybe soon). I’m a sponge GWH; give me anything you got. If there are any good books, etc let me know. This is pretty much what I do now instead of focusing on the god awful Beavs.

          • Puddle ducks (mallard, widgeon, teal, pintails, etc) are premium.

Divers go in the jerky/grind pile (ring necks, blue bills, etc)

          • Yeah the short barrel for HD, and a 24″ slug barrel for the rest.

I’m thinking about buying a SW 686 as well. I just don’t know if I want the 3″ for HD or the 4″ for range…also have to consider weight since the lady shoots…

          • Longer barrel = More weight = better accuracy and less muzzle flip and blast. Since you can’t conceal your own penis in California buy the longer barrel and get a decent belt and holster. You’ll probably want to pick up a vent rib bead sight bird hunting barrel too. Cheap and easy.

Is your 18″ barrel a bead sight? If it’s doing double duty as home defense you should look into mounting a tactical light. And fwiw I learned to love #4 buckshot up close in my USMC days. Fucking brutal out to about 25 yards. Whatever load you decide to use for HD, measure the length of the longest possible shot you could take in your house and go pattern your gun at that distance on down to about 10 feet. I think you’ll be amazed at how tight your patterns will be even with a short cylinder bore barrel. Rest assured that you will still have to aim to hit your target. This ain’t Hollywood, and 00 buckshot doesn’t pattern four feet across at ten paces :).

          • I need to research the shotgun ammo more. I just know birdshot, buckshot, slug, but not sure what the #4, 5 etc all mean yet. I just finally wrapping my head around the revolver ammo (thinking .357 or .38 special in 125 or 158gr hollow point is probably the best home defense round for that one). Ammo is quite confusing for someone starting out.

          • Here’s the simple rundown on shotgun shells:

12 guage shotgun shells are available in 2 3/4″, 3″, and 3 1/2″ lengths – check your owners manual. Generally a gun chambered for 3″ can handle 2 3/4″ shells as well.

Lead birdshot is genrally available in sizes from #8 to size BB. The larger the number, the smaller the size of the pellets, i.e. #8 shot = 450 pellets per ounce whereas #4 shot = 170 pellets per ounce. Small shot for small game (#8’s for for quail, dove, and target shooting) and large shot for larger game (#4 or #6 for pheasant, BB for turkey).

For waterfowl, you’ll be using steel birdshot (or bisthmuth or tungsten if you can afford it). Steel bird shot is genearlly from #6’s up to F. I think it goes 6,5,4,3,2,1,B,BB,BBB,T,F. I’ve never shot F’s, but have used T’s. Generally for geese I shoot 3″ BBB’s, and for ducks 3″ #3’s. (Kent is my favorite steel shotgun shell brand).

Buck shot is availabe from size T to OOO, in order from smallest to largest shot: T,4,3,2,1,O,OO,OOO. Do not confuse #4 buckshot with #4 birdshot – buckshot is gernally twice the diameter as birdshot. I’ve never actually shot buckshot, but some people do hunt big game (pigs, deer, etc) with buckshot. I prefer slugs, which are self-explanatory.

The next thing you’ll look for on the box is the weight of shot – when you compare ammo prices, keep this in mind – the cheaper box of shells generally has either less shot, or less powder (speed). The amount of shot will be listed in ounces (1 oz up to 1 7/8 oz).

The muzzle velocity is the last number listed on the box. If you opt for more shot weight, you’re generally trading off a little muzzle velocity, and vice versa (more pellets = less powder). Take these two Kent loads for example:

( as shown on the box of shells: Gauge – shell length – shot size – shot weight – muzzle velocity):

            Ist:
            12GA 3″ #3 1 1/4 1300

            2nd:
            12GA 3″ #3 1 1/8 1560

I prefer the second load – sacrifice 1/8 oz of shot for another 260 FPS.

            I hope this helps.

          • Use cheap light .38 specials for practice and .357 mags for duty loads. .357 mag is a bad Motherfucker. I’ve always wanted a lever action rifle in .38/.357 or .44 mag.

          • I really need to proofread before I submit…or log in first.

In actuality, I’m not as illeriterate as my typing skills might suggest.

          • Forget the small calibers for home defense. The military, way back, went to 45 because of the impotence of the 38. (later went to 9mm but really only for NATO compatibility) And any magnum round has the danger of killing a neighbor by continuing thru walls. Get a second, pistolgrip shotgun and ask the police how short you can cut the barrel down. That’s your ultimate legal home defense weapon, imo.

          • Angry, given your comments about killing game animals I ask you to, please, be certain you are willing to kill another human in a home defense situation. The mere presence of a firearm may suffice in most HD situations but it is best to realize that you may have to take a life. The consequences of hesitating in the moment of truth can be significant.

Not to discourage you from taking responsibility for your own security at all (as we all know, when seconds matter the police are only minutes away). Just wanting you to be prepared.
And, FWIW, I think WFO is spot on with the #4 buck.

          • OldBeav, I don’t have a problem with that, just like I wouldn’t have an issue shooting an animal that was attacking me.

It’s the elective killing of an innocent, non-attacking animal that I struggle with.

          • Pistol grip shotguns are difficult to control and fire accurately, especially for a beginner. There’s no reason to begin training by shooting from the hip. If you are going to fire a gun, do it accurately and know your target and it’s backdrop. Hence my insistence on having a tactical light on every firearm that’s inside my house in a home defense role.

A gun that you are comfortable with and can use reliably and accurately is more effective than some kind of cannon that you’re afraid to use. The interwebs are full of commandos that think nothing short of a .44 mag is worth owning. I like to ask them if they want to get in line to get shot center of mass with the “inferior” caliber they’re currently bashing. :)

          • Good. I’m not surprised that you thought it through Angry.

As for taking the innocent animals, Jack makes a good point about saving them from a date with headlights on the highway. You’ll give the animal much more respect than would result from roadkill…if you are into that sort of karma thing.

          • Whether or not a deer ends up dying on the highway if I didn’t take him home doesn’t really come to play with me – but I get the point. Deer die in the woods every day, and it ain’t always pretty. Few keel off from old age with their loved ones gathered around singing Amazing Grace. Nature’s a cruel place.

I’m just more of a realist about where meat comes from. Every time you bite into a steak, you’re pulling the trigger on a non-attacking animal…it’s just that someone else has their finger on the trigger. As obvious as that is, I’m blown away by the meat eaters who I constantly encounter that are against me hunting, a.k.a. doing what they are paying someone else to do. It’s hypocrisy defined.

          • Thanks for all the good info, guys.

I don’t know if it is hypocrisy in my case, because I fully acknowledge I’m paying someone to relieve me of the guilt. But, I’m trying to get over that and do it myself. Then just treat it with respect and not waste anything, etc. Also, regarding roadkill…scavengers use that meat to produce offspring. So it’s not a waste.

Agree there are commandos and tactical ninjas all over the net bashing low calibers. I am just starting out and see that all over.

          • Hypocrisy for the anit-hunting meat eater. Not aimed at you. I don’t fault anyone for not being able to get over the mental aspect of ending a life, human or otherwise.

          • @ Angry “…also have to consider weight since the lady shoots….”

This is a bit off topic but is your lady O.K. with hand guns (especially of that caliber)?

Just a fwiw – some of my friends decided what caliber and brand of hand gun their ladies should have without consulting them. In most cases it’s turned out to be a disaster. Complaints like it kicks too much, it’s too heavy, etc. resulting in them not enjoying shooting the weapon and thus not wanting to go to the range to practice.

I’ve managed to get around that problem by getting my wife a smaller caliber gun (.380) with the idea that eventually she’ll decide which weapon she’s most comfortable with (and wants to carry concealed). Where I live it’s possible to get a permit to carry and I think eventually things will get so bad that people will feel safer if they’re carrying.

Imo if she wants to carry a .22, and will carry it all the time, that’s better than having a larger caliber weapon setting at home.

            Just my 2 cents.

          • This is the same point I was making earlier. The best concealed carry pistol is the one you will actually take with you every time you leave the house. For me it’s a glock 19 in a galco super tuck holster. I also have a S&W bodyguard .380 for summertime shorts and t-shirts at the lake.

Along the same line, my wife has shot all of my pistols including my FNP45 but her pistol is a Bersa firestorm .22 pistol simply because she’s hell on wheels with it. She’ll put all 10 shots in the kill zone in about 4 seconds every time, and I’d rather have that than her flinching into a 9mm. After I realized she wasn’t going to handle a glock any time soon I did a ridiculous amount of research and came up with the Bersa as the only concealable .22 pistol that always functions, and I haven’t been disappointed.

I do want to take her down to Barons Den and have her put a couple of cylinders through that new Ruger LCR in .22 mag. .22 mag does not fuck around.

          • I have a couple of the Bersa Thunder .380 and a Bersa Thunder .22. I’m very impressed with these weapons. At the time I bought them (almost exactly a year ago) there was a big demand for weapons, ammunition, etc. so everything was in short supply and thus I was in a bit of a rush to buy.

To show you how crazy it was in that time frame: a friend of mine went to a huge gun show in Las Vegas to buy some ammo. He had stand in line for about 5 hours and when he finally got to the counter they’d already sold out of 3 of the 4 types of ammo he wanted.

When I found the Bursas in a gun story I’d already done quite a bit of research so I knew that the Bersas were highly thought of so I considered myself lucky to be able to find and buy them. I think the only reason they had the .380’s in stock was because they had Crimson Traces installed on them. I bought them as is and haven’t regretted it. In fact, my wife’s grouping is much better with the laser than without. For me it’s just the opposite. My hands shake a bit and the laser light makes me aware of the shaking and that kind of psychs me out.

I find myself worrying a little bit about the .380’s stopping power so I’ve tried to compensate for that by buying the more expensive ammo. As I’m sure you know there’s all sorts of issues, legal and otherwise, when it comes to ammo. I also bought some of the 9 round mags that are available for the .380.

Anyway, I’m going to have my wife take a look at the Ruger LCR .22 mag that you mentioned and see what she thinks of that.

The .380 Thunder is almost exactly the same size and weight as your Glock 19 9mm so I sometimes find myself second guessing the .380 Thunder vs the Glock 19 w.r.t. what I “should” be carrying.

Currently talking about weapons is a hell of a lot more fun than talking about OSU football.

          • Hunting is conservation. No wetlands were drained and plowed under to grow grain to feed your meat. As close to zero impact protein as you can get.

          • I’ve thought about creating a youtube account, and posting game processing and preparation technique videos. One of my life’s missions is to pass along my love of nature, and for her delicious animals.

Don’t stop at hunting though. Here in Washington, we FEASTED on crab, razor clams, and salmon for most of the year. There is so much bounty in the PNW it’s ridiculous. Morels, chanterelles, and even truffles abound.

          • What made you go for the Mossberg instead of the 870? I’m a little confused that you want to take a 500 into the field.

There are good reasons to chase down deer and boars. Their populations are unsustainable. You do the health of both species a favor when you take meat. Think of it as saving them from a date on a highway staring down some headlights.

          • Mossberg 500 is a perfectly fine no frills shotgun. While not my preference they can be a lot of bang for the buck and definitely a good starter gun. Take the $ you saved and go buy shells.

          • My instructor recommended it and we trained with it a little because he owned one. So..comfort. When I researched it on my own I saw the Remington had an issue with loading (forget the name of the part, but the spring mechanism was known to catch peoples’ fingers). My lady is left-handed and I’m right, so the Mossberg’s safety suits us better, too. What’s wrong with it?

          • Nothing really wrong with it. It’s more a tactical piece though.

The problems with the 870 can almost always be corrected by shortening the stock. The most common issue is a short slide because the standard stock is just too much for anyone under 6’2″. I would rather have it or a 37 or even the older 1300s before I took a 500 out.

I would take a 464 before any of the above. I just picture the 500 as something with which to shoot off doorknobs.

          • The only dedicated military style pump gun mossberg makes is the 590a1. Parkerized, ghost ring sights, pistol grip, bayonet lug. My brother has one and it’s pretty cool but the stock is long as hell. The one I have out in the shop is a 590 that’s pretty much a bird gun with a bayonet lug and a WW2 style barrel shroud.

Most pump guns can go from hunting to home defense/tactical with a simple barrel and tube extension swap. I prefer a tac light in anything that will be used at home. My 590 has a streamlight and my Benelli has a surefire forend light.

I’m impatiently waiting for the magpul furniture for the mossbergs to hit the shelves. I handled an 870 with it and I really liked it. It’s also the only aftermarket stock I’ve handled that will work with the mossberg safety. Pistol grips are a no go with mossbergs in my book.

          • Mossy says its 500 passes muster for military use. But we learned how to BCM the fuckers really quick. The 590A1 is a good gun. I hate pistol grips on shotguns.

My brother likes Mossys, and he’s on his second 590A1 (the new one’s a mariner). I’m still on a hand-me-down wingmaster that probably will outlive me. The only Mossy I own is a 46Mb. It’s a really nice rifle, but I tend to use my 80DL more than anything else when plinking. And I do love plinking.

Have you tried the GSG 1911 22LR? I borrow one for the range, and it’s just a blast. Various family and friends swear by 1911s and XDM 45s, and I would have to lean toward the XDs.

          • My brother loves his XDM .45. It’s a nice gun for sure. I like big full size high capacity .45s. 1911s feel great in the hand but I just can’t hack a full size pistol with 7-8 rounds. I fell in love with the FNP45 and that’s my go to big gun.

Haven’t handed the gsg. My all time favorite .22 pistol is my S&W 422. My brother bought a Browning buckmark and it’s a shooter too.

The only shotgun I use for hunting is my Winchester 1400 autoloader my grandfather gave me when I turned 13. It’s beat to shit but it goes boom every single time and I love it

  1. Central Catholic wins the Oregon 6A state championship. Ryan Nall has just been a monster for Central Catholic this season, especially in the playoffs. 196 yards rushing w/ 3 TDs to go with 10 tackles and an interception on defence. Listed as 6’3 230lbs with 4.6 speed. I notice he’s now a mid 3 star on all of the recruiting sites.

  2. Not sure I buy the Palm predictions. Wazzu left out in his latest and OSU vs Minnesota in Rodent (Texas) Bowl.

Hmm. Angry Beavers vs. Gawking Gophers?

    • The only game I’d be interested in is OSU/GaTech because my good pal went there, and we want to talk smack.

Otherwise, I hope they don’t go to a bowl. I think Riley deserves that embarrassment.

      • I certainly agree he has no business being extended no matter what happens. That alone is worth not going. Last thing OSU needs is a 70 year old coach. BDC doesn’t get that the older the regime gets the more it turns off younger fans. These younger fans are what provide life in the fanbase and we don’t have it.

        • I suggested in an earlier post that BDC should come out with a statement after the bowl game that based on the performance he and Mike both agree that it would not be appropriate to extend his contract a year.

It probably can’t happen legally, but it would a least give the appearance of accountability coming from BDC. It’s a start. I think it might gain some steam if they actual lose the bowl game.

  3. For what it’s worth (not much)…Phil Steele has our heroes in the AdvoCare Bowl against Boston College and Wazzu in the Texas Bowl against the Gophers. I guess because of the way the games fell this weekend most if not all of the projections have the Beavs in a bowl game now. Big fun, I hope Riley is ready for 6-7.

      • Avocado is a hell of a lot better than 75% of the current names. Guacamole should be a food group.

By the way, USA Today has the Beavs missing out and Wazzu making a bowl game, but some one else has the Beavs in the Little Caesar’s against Bowling Green.

I wonder if these guys just make shit up on the minor (meaningless) bowl games or they actually have inside information.

  4. My preferred bowl of all if forced to play in a crap bowl and extend Riley for nothing would be the Hawaii Bowl vs Boise St. I have a hunch Riley won’t even be able to beat an interim coach. Then the Pollys can suck it that Riley isn’t downtrending and his ‘experience’ will have lost to multiple 1st year coaches and two interim coaches in the same year after being blown out at home to Ed O earlier.

A newbie position coach will knock off Riley and we should get an epic shit grin as Riley takrs the extension through 2023 and increases the buyout by atleast 1.5 million. Oh joy. BDC will look like a giant turd if this plays out. Atleast 80-90 fans would make it to Hawaii. Shreveport might only get 50-60.

    • I wonder if you could find another contract out there that gives a HC at the major college level an extension for a possible 6-7 record? Maybe BDC would be willing to waive his retirement pension to help pay for Riley’s buyout since he’s the architect behind Riley’s pot o’ gold.

      • Nope. You won’t find a single other one. Unfathomable how you could get one with a losing record. The regime of BDC-Riley will have many more detractors if besides just one winning season in 4 years it is also firmly 3 losing seasons out of 4. Not going avoids the extension and keeps the buyout from staying as severe and keeps this season as a wash instead of quite possibly a losing one. I hope that shrinking subset of Pollys is prepared for heavy unrest if Riley loses and we are forced to swallow an extension like a goose before slaughter. BDC needs to go and if this happens count me amongst those picketing for his immediate removal.

  5. I watched the OU snowball video finally. Wonder if that affects what bowl they get. They looked like a bunch of thugs from LA gangs… wait, actually that makes since. Article stated the professor isn’t pressing charges or upset… wonder how much that cost OU. Uncle Phil’s kids act like rude brats and they are getting worse and worse. This is the result of having things handed to you rather than earning it. Believe it or not I’m not a total OU hater, I know good people that went there, but this is embarrassing to any native Oregonian.

    • The only serious thing in the video is the guy stopping the car by standing in front of it. You guys think throwing snowballs at cars is a big deal? I must have had a warped childhood, then.

      • Bend Beav,

I don’t think it’s about a warped childhood or not.

These weren’t children and this wasn’t a snowball fight between friends. This was a group of adults.

It’d be another thing if the adults having a snowball fight inadvertently hit someone or another car…but watching the video you can clearly see that is not the case. It seems the expectation is that the drivers of the vehicles will/won’t do anything to the people standing in front of their cars, while being pelted with snow and dumping tubs of snow on windshields etc. The guy who got out of his car had snow dumped into his car and was repeatedly pelted with snowballs. Not cool and certainly not part of a “snowball fight”, he wasn’t a willing participant. It appears he handled the situation calmly….others may not have and that’s where the situation could have deteriorated rapidly.

What would’ve been the reaction if the guy blocking the car was hit because the driver panicked and felt threatened/intimidated in the situation?….the driver in the wrong?

My rule of thumb growing up has been…would I want this behavior directed towards my wife or my elderly parents and grandparents? If not you probably ought to not be doing it. And yes I participated in many a snowball fight.

        • The only thing was stopping the car? What about the old man professor being pelted in the head multiple times when he got out of the car. Yes I did crap in jr high school but these are supposed to be d1 college football players. Chicken shit thugs!

          • So the problem is college students acting like kids? I’m sure none of us were guilty of that. And throwing snowballs is now qualifies for being a thug? Or is it TSWB (throwing snowball while black)?

          • Oregon suspended their tight-end Pharaoh Brown from the Alamo Bowl, for his role in the snowball thuggery. Interesting that they won’t have either of their top 2 tight ends because of their inability to control themselves around white powdery substances.

        • If the driver hit the guy in this situation, he mostly likely would, and should, be found in the wrong. You can’t run people over when they’re standing in front of your car. The only case that would fly would be if the guy was being menacing or threatening enough to justify it.

    • Correct. That is the ESPN suggested swap of teams that Palm has now acknowledged as expected.

Now we will find out if Riley can beat a newbie position coach from a weak conference. BDC better hope so or things will get ugly for him.

  6. Can we please use the orange tops with black pants and helmet for the bowl game. Think that is our best look and it was included in original rebrand images.

Don’t want it thrown away like DeCareLess seems to want to do. Screw you BDC! Keep orange and black! Perfect for a bowl game! Need something fresh to remove the taste of a bad end to the season and restore some new hope.

  7. not official but this says its contingent on whether or not the ducks get an at-large BCS invite

Hawaii Bowl won’t announce Oregon State until after the BCS selections. If somehow Oregon gets into BCS, could affect selection

  8. Will BSU be motivated by the fact their coach ditched them or be depressed like an average Beaver fan? Losing to the smurfs would really put a candle on a turd of a season.

  9. The BSU interim HC is no stranger to Riley and OSU as he was the defensive coordinator at Cal from 2002 – 2009.

“…The Broncos have finished each of the last three seasons ranked in the top-20 nationally in total defense since Gregory’s return to Boise State. The Broncos finished second in the statistical category in 2010 (254.69), 16th in 2011 (320.85) and 12th in 2012 (315.62).

    The team also finished second-nationally in scoring defense in 2010 (12.77), 12th-nationally in 2011 (18.69) and eighth-nationally in 2012 (15.77).

This past season Boise State also ranked fifth-nationally in both pass defense (169.46) and pass efficiency defense (101.35), and 11th-nationally in sacks (2.92)….”

Hopefully OSU has finally gotten their running game going.

  10. Is PBH still going to Shreveport with Will’s dad? I’m concerned this could turn into a Brokeback Mountain situation. Another unneeded distraction for the team.

  11. Does this bowl game really have a possible up side? Best case is yay, we beat a lousy Boise State team under a new interim coach? Or we lose…

    • With that kind of invitation, who wouldn’t? Is there any particular content which hurt your wussy sensibilities little boy?

Sorry… it looks like English might not be a medium with which you communicate.

      ‘Sup punkyjunk? WYP?

          • It never is. People are just negative, and that’s what they expect when they come here. It’s precisely what I’ve pointed out about the excuses the Pollyannas always make. They shit on Corvallis, OSU and the players on the team time and time again by default. If the parameters they construct out of thin air were true, then their excuses are precisely what I said they are in the previous sentence. If they’re seen as the lies and negativity they truly are, then the Pollys would be ridiculed all day every day for being fucking morons who have nothing but hate in their hearts.

It’s not quite that simple… or shallow. But that’s a pretty good outline.

I’ll leave you with these quotes about being an apologist:

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish everything in life.”

“Partial efforts and courage are more than enough, screw purpose and direction.”

“Tomorrow, every fault is to be amended; but that Tomorrow never comes.”

  12. And for comparison’s sake, UO get the Alamo Bowl and, Texas.

I suppose they’ll blow Texas out and OSU will pull a Vegas bowl non-showing…”Hey, we got to spend all week in our shorts.”

Now that OSU has a game on Christmas Eve, I’ll likely end up watching to see if they show up, stick around if they do. The Vegas bowl, I turned off….

  13. FWIW, new Yahoo post ranks Hawaii Bowl — Beavs against Boise State — as #14 out of 35 bowls: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/ranking-bowl-games-1-35-045900052–ncaaf.html

“14. Sheraton Hawaii (Dec. 24, Honolulu) Boise State (8-4) vs. Oregon State (6-6): This is a bit of a regional matchup, but these teams haven’t met since 2010. These offenses both have the ability to score a bunch of points, so that could make this one of the more offensively entertaining games of the bowl season.”
