  1. Beavs are ‘dogs at home.

Students will be there in good number and be loud, hopefully Aluminum Mike gives them something to cheer about.

Are the Beavs going full traffic cone orange? The full orange just doesn’t come off well on tv with the ectomorphs looking like puffy cheetos.

Again, enjoy the game and the rest of this season. It’s unlikely to get this good again for 3-4 years…

  2. off topic again: I just read this over on pure-hate about the ducks and the pink uni’s and this response did it for me

    First, I hate the uo.

But from what I heard, they auction off the pink helmets and donate that money to breast cancer research. That earns way more money than the cost of the uniforms, especially when you have an insane fan base that will pay top dollar. I applaud this as my mother-in-law died of breast cancer and me and my wife have two daughters. I’m not for mimicking the ducks, but this is one case where I’ll make an exception.

    FTd’s!

    Oh yeah, FTd’s!

Here’s the problem I have with this. I understand about raising breast cancer awareness. I also understand they donate the money from auctioning the uni’s off to breast cancer research. Here’s where I have the problem. Why is UO athletics using breast cancer to put themselves in the limelight? It’s using breast cancer to promote yourselves. How fucking low is that? Why not just donate the money you WOULD have made off auctioning off the uni’s and don’t make it about you! That’s the issue I have. But as they whisper at UO any pub is good pub. Attentionb whores being attention whores. For all the wrong reasons.

    End of Rant

    Thoughts?

And for the record this does matter to me as I lost my wife to breast cancer three years ago December 3 at the young age of 38. I lost my wife and my young sons lost their mother. So I find what they are doing, well pretty low.

    • I’m all for research and fundraising. However, I think the idea of breast cancer “awareness” is ridiculous at this point. Who the heck isn’t “aware” of breast cancer these days? It’s turned into a schlocky opportunity for people to slap pink on everything and say they did something.

      • exactly. And after my wife passed away I asked any contributions be made to Benton County Hospice and not any cancer foundation. They did more for our family than any fucking cancer research foundation. It’s sad that some in society have decided to profit from disease instead of trying to cure it

        • Sorry for your loss, whiskey.

“And after my wife passed away I asked any contributions be made to Benton County Hospice and not any cancer foundation. They did more for our family than any fucking cancer research foundation.”

It’s sad that the lack of a cure leads to the hospice being able to do more than the researchers sometimes. I’m not a big conspiracy theorist, but sometimes I wonder if these huge pharmaceutical companies and research organizations are truly motivated to find a cure as opposed to various treatments they can sell repeatedly with meager efficacy (particularly at the top-level leadership.) It would destroy the money train.

          • “It’s sad that the lack of a cure leads to the hospice being able to do more than the researchers sometimes. You and me both buddy. You and me both

          • “I wonder if these huge pharmaceutical companies and research organizations are truly motivated to find a cure as opposed to various treatments they can sell repeatedly”

I’ve learned that with companies that have a board of directors, the only thing the board of directors discusses in in a board meeting is the stock value. The board meeting agenda consists of the current stock value, the projected stock value, and what the company can do to push the stock value higher. I’d say with pharm companies there’s about a 100% chance that their motivation is money, and eliminating diseases doesn’t make them money.

          • Ditto from me. And it’s just not cancer, I recently found out that my immune system is attacking my pancreas and am an adult onset Type 1 diabetic. Insulin costs are $600 a month and I often think there’s no cure for diabetes yet because diabetics are a cash cow for the pharma companies.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad there’s the tools available to manage my care but it does piss me off some days.

      • If you aren’t AWARE of breast cancer by now, or ANY cancer for that matter, you’ve been locked in a closet. I know no one who’s life has not been affected by cancer or someone in their family having cancer. We’re aware, we get it. Just stop. Find a cure instead of putting your ugly mugs saying we donated. It’s like the ALS ice bucket challenge. Stupid way for people to be attention whores.

      • But pink is such a nice color! One of my first jobs was in a research center where I innocently supposed we would all be working together to find a cure (for whatever disease). I soon realized that various labs, even within the same institution, vied for research dollars and often protected their work rather than sharing it. Breast cancer survival rates have greatly increased since about the mid-1980s and some draconian surgical procedures are no longer used, but I doubt that any of that is a result of the ducks – or any sports team – wearing pink. I’m curious to know how all that got set up anyway and how much the ad agencies get paid for the promotion.

    • They do the same shit for military appreciation day. Put on some new fancy camoflauge uniforms for the intrasquad game, invite a few military veterans for a “free” game (not an actual game mind you, that would require losing out on ticket sales) , develop a kickass show for the most awesome star spangled banner ever. It all screams, “Look at us as we honor our veterans!”

Just look how over the top the commercialization of this has become. They even changed up their motto to say “Salute the Day”

      http://m.goducks.com/mobile/ViewArticle.dbml?atclid=209485428&DB_OEM_ID=500&

Oh yeah, and after the scrimmage, the player present their game worn uniforms to 100 veterans, because it’s a huge honor for those vets to get a killer Nike uniform. Thanks vets!

      • Regarding Cancer awareness and Military Appreciation, are you guys aware that OSU gave FB tickets in support of both causes? The only place I heard about it was JoeRadio, Parker mentioned that you just call the ticket office and if your family has been touched by cancer you might get one of the 1,000 or so tickets which had been set aside. Same for Military at another game.

Can’t remember now which games were involved, may have been SDSU and, even, Utah tonight.

Of course, the Beavs marketing fails (as to publicity) when compared to the Ucks.
Nice thought, I suppose, wish a better product was on the field.

        • had no clue. Great job OSU marketing dept! Like I’m gonna take my sons to a 7pm kickoff, get home at 11:30 and they have school tomorrow. Brilliant!

        • Don’t know if you guys are into it, but if you follow the associate athletic director on Twitter you will hear about every promotion that the athletic department does. That guy tweets like crazy. Including the free tickets for cancer, and military. They advertised both of them on Twitter for weeks prior to it occurring.

    • I feel the same way whenever I see a yellow ribbon magnet on a vehicle or I see a school play in camis. It’s all about them promoting themselves as someone who supports the “troops” (a nonexistent unit in the way they employ it). It has nothing to do with the military. If it did, they would bring our people home.

  3. whiskey has been laid up in bed with a broken bone in his foot and now an illness to make matters worse. Not trolling for sympathy but it’s why he’s been on here so much lately. Whiskey has boredom and free time. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming of Riley and Banker hatred

  4. Could the Beavers please just go out, play well, and kick some ass tonight? I mean, wouldn’t that just be satisfying for them? Aren’t they yet tired of mediocrity and waiting to “clean some stuff up” in the next game?

    • Maybe the presence of the students will have the kind of motivating effect which Riley never seems to demonstrate. A 60 minute smart effort which shows a lot of heart would be so refreshing.

  5. Over on Disney Sports, they’re all picking Utah, with the reasons why summarized as follows:

“Why Utah will win: Duh, the Utes are on the road. Is any further explanation needed? I like the confidence Utah is playing with. I like that they are a three-phase team. And I really, really like the sack-happy Utah front seven against an Oregon State offensive line that hasn’t fully come together yet. The Utes have established a strong running game that will exist regardless of who is handing off the ball. OSU’s offense is yet to really come together. And unless you’ve got a defense like Stanford’s, averaging fewer than 30 points per game will eventually catch up with you. — Kevin Gemmell ”

  6. This is probably the first game I’ll miss seeing in person in 5-6 years. 5:30 espn games on a Thursday were doable with work the next day. 7:30 is bullshit cause there’s no way you’re getting home any sooner then midnight.

    • agreed. the student section may have quite a few people, but the rest of the stadium will look pretty empty. you can pick up tickets for dirt cheap on stubhub right now. $40 tickets are going for $6.50, and they’re not even trying to gouge you on the shipping costs with free delivery. I’d imagine that price plummets even more as the day goes on

    • The reason you’re not going is the reason I am going. Got some cheap seats so I’m taking off work a bit early (still gotta tailgate) and will be coming in late tomorrow (tailgating)…

Can’t help but feel that the Beavs underwhelm here and lose it 38-24. Hope I’m wrong

    • I can guarantee the flag will not be displayed properly according to the flag code.

But that’s another side rant related to false patriotism.

      • While I tolarate and say nothing about it for everyday people, the one instance that really pissed me off was when I drove by the Dalles Dam, and they had the flag draped across it totally against the proper code. The USACE should know better.

  7. This situation is tailor made for Oregon State to have success:

    A) Thursday night home game – Beavers play well in these
    B) Beavers tend to have good games when they have extra time
(or is that a wash because Utah also gets extra time? I’m not sure)
    C) NO ONE is picking the Beavers
    D) The game is on very obscure channels nationally (Pac-12 Network, Fox Sports 2). If this was
ESPN however… Riley’s teams do better when the spotlight is not on them.
    E) Utah is off a huge win, Beavers have heard for ten days about how bad they’ve looked so far
    despite being 4-1.

Steele also likes Oregon State, but he didn’t like them enough to go totally against what his computer was saying.

Three things I’m watching from my seat tonight:

How do the offensive and defensive lines fare against superior athletes on the other side of the ball? Is Mannion getting time to make his reads?

Kickoff and punt coverage. PARAMOUNT. Utah has the best special teams IN THE NATION.

    Look out… a running QB…

    • A) given how well Utah has played on the road, and the fact that the record for the home team throughout the Pac is poor this season, this is not good for the Beavers. Is your point because it is a specific day of the week? I’m not sure how Mannion feels about Thursdays to say one way or the other.
      B) Utah had a bye as well. I don’t consider this an advantage for either team.
      C) because no one should. All the tangibles point toward a Beaver loss. And the intangibles that you are pointing out on this list are easily countered
      D) OK maybe you have a point with this one, Riley does seem to be allergic to ESPN and pressure, but I will not pick the Beavers based on this one thing alone
      E) They’ve looked bad and are under coached. Even if they look good, they will still be undercoached. I also can’t really see any good player leadership on this team.

I just don’t know what you all are seeing to ignore everything above and still pick the Beavers. I sure hope that I am wrong.

  8. My brother raised an interesting point last week. Since OSU starts classes so late and all the players have to worry about is football for the first four weeks of the season, how come they tend to suck early on?

  10. Tonight’s game qualifies as a major test for the OSU coaching staff.

Remember OSU’s 27-8 loss at Utah in 2011? Utah was new to the PAC-12, and had not yet won a PAC-12 game. Utah started an inexperienced and weak-armed QB (Jon Hays) who ended up completing a total of 6 passes for all of 62 yards. But not to worry — Utah had a workhorse RB (John White) who ran over and through the Beavs’ front seven for 151 yards in the first half, and 205 yards overall (a career game for White). Utah also had a stout defense that disrupted and a “confused” RS Fr. QB Mannion all night. After the game, Utah’s coach (Whittingham) publicly admitted he was “surprised” that Banker failed to stack the box to stop the run.
    http://www.buildingthedam.com/2011/10/30/2524364/utah-utes-get-first-pac-12-win-over-over-matched-beavers

Fast forward to tonight’s matchup. Utah comes in with a defense that has the most sacks in the country (5.6 sacks per game, nearly 1.3 more than any other team). Against UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley in Utah’s previous game, the Utes recorded 10 sacks (!). OSU’s young offensive line continues to struggle with injuries. Odds are that Utah’s front seven will be able to put lots of pressure on Mannion (similar to what happened in the USC game a few weeks ago, when Mannion never looked comfortable — and played one of his worst games).

Can Riley — and Garrett — make the necessary adjustments (more running plays; max protect for passing; etc.) needed for Mannion and the OSU offense to be effective tonight? Or will Mannion once again do his imitation of a deer blinded by headlights (followed by his imitation of a statue being toppled)?

Meanwhile, Utah will probably again start a QB with limited experience and a relatively weak arm (Kendal Thompson). Utah again has a workhorse RB (Devontae Booker). The Beavs are depleted at DT. I’m guessing that Whittingham has not forgotten the lessons from 2011 and will test the middle of the OSU defense early and often with the running game.

Will Banker stack the box this time? Or will Banker again let Utah run over and through the Beavs at will? If the latter, will Whittingham again call out Banker during his post-game press conference?

I think OSU can win this game if the OSU coaching staff makes the proper adjustments. On offense, run the ball (a lot), use screens, draws, and short passes to neutralize the potent Utah pass rush. On defense, stack the box, and make the Utah QB beat us with his (questionable) arm. On special teams, kick the ball away from Kaelin Clay (who has 3 TDs on kick returns and another TD on a punt return).

If the OSU coaching staff fails to make the proper adjustments, the Beavs have no chance tonight.

So, I’m picking the Beavs: 23-21 (but only because I’m an OSU fan — not because it makes much sense).

  11. Since we don’t really have a feel for Utah, how about this: if they score more points they will win, if they score fewer points they will lose.

  12. Will be some “uteful” players in the secondary tonight. Ha Ha. ObjCritic make little pun.

Can OSU’s receivers and Mannion capitalize on their inexperience?

    http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/utes/58520250-89/godfrey-blechen-utah-carter.html.csp

I keep flipping back and forth on who will win tonight. My instinct is Utah’s coaching staff will outperform OSUs and Utah wins, but I want to think OSU can play their most complete game of the season and pull out a win….

  13. I think this is a contract extension moment for Riley, and he comes thru…. …or maybe he mails it in … shit …. ok, I got no idea…

  14. Watching halftime of Virgina Tech/Pitt and Mark May and Brian Griese are breaking down the FSU/Domers game tomorrow. I think Griese took too many blows to the head as a QB as he picked the domers in 4/5 categories. I watched Notre Dame struggle with UNC last week. No way is that the #5 team in the nation. FSU will roll them

  15. Phil Simms just said the Jets are running up the middle and attacking the weakness of the Pat’s D.
Makes you wonder if Riley will insist Mannion drop back to pass when the strength of the Utah D, by all accounts, is the pass rush. My guess is yes.

  16. i hope the beavers are kicking away to start the game. i want to see the utah quarterback take the first snap of the game. put the pressure on them first. make that quarterback prove it.

  17. I like the running as well, but do question using I formation on first and 20? Pretty obvious what you’re doing there.

  18. Correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t even see Scott make contact with the receiver. He flailed but missed? Did I completely miss something?

  19. If Oregon State loses this they will have 14 losses vs 2 wins in last 16 games versus ranked opponents. Apologists cannot compute that in any way to show Riley is a quality coach against anyone but weaker teams.

This is a must win for Riley in my and most people’s book. Just not in BDC’s as 6-6 is fine for him. Hence why the program has stalled and is in danger of stepping back.

  20. How can the refs ignore that late hit on Mannion, it wasn’t that hard, but you can’t jump on somebody like that! And the P-12 refs wonder about their reputation.

  21. Can Mannion do a three step drop and throw a slant or am I asking too much? Maybe something they could have worked on after watching UCLA tape?

  22. Really need to do something here before halftime. Don’t give them the ball back and the beavs get the ball to start the 2nd half.

  23. Andrews again. Dude is just flat ass awful. Then Mannion throws it away towards a receiver that was double covered. Utah was rushing 6, 5 in coverage. We had max protect = 7 means 3 receivers being covered by 5. Not a recipe for success. Tells you all you need to know about this shitty offensive line.

  24. WOW Utah’s coach calls 2 TOs before our FG. What a fucking dbag. And he looks so proud of himself.

Right after the commentator talks about how it’s actually effective to ice the kicker, despite all evidence saying otherwise.

  25. The O-line is overmatched, so we need to keep extra blockers in to help. However, the receivers aren’t good enough to get separation and get open on their own, so we need the tight ends and backs to go out as receivers. With that combo, the passing game isn’t going to do much tonight.

  26. Without the -34 yds on Mannion sacks the Beavs would have 99 yds rushing in the first half and Woods with over 5 ypc.

Take the sacks off the passing yds and Mannion would have 9 yds on 6-12

  27. The first team that scores a TD may end up winning this game. I just hope the defense doesn’t have one of those shitty random series they’re famous for…..they are going to have to be perfect in the second half.

    • I think they need to start over with the offensive line. Coaching and technique. IT ISN’T WORKING!!!!

If Mannion has time he can be serviceable. Rushed he makes poor decisions and is a liability.

  28. What shows this o line sucks is them getting mad at the fans for cheering on one of the false start penalties. Man up and know your shit!!

  29. Garrett is in the booth, and I believe he was there vs Colo. as well. As a certain politician would say, “what difference does it make at this point?”
OTOH, maybe he is responsible for more rushes tonight.
Got to burn some clock so the D doesn’t run out of gas.

  30. Bad news when the O-line gets pushed back 2 yds on a running play. Just can’t see how the Beavs win unless the D or ST score.

  31. not so brilliant use of that first time out. These little things like false starts and slow play calling make this team very difficult to watch

  32. This is a joke. Do the Beavs have a gameplan? It looks like they can’t wait for the season to end. What an uninspiring effort from the players and the coaches.

  33. And I don’t understand how we can go from Rodgers to Wheaton to Cooks to scrubs with our receivers behind Mannion and the pro pass happy system. Talk about inability to recruit

  34. Another free rusher sacks Mannion. What a joke.

I bet Angry thinks it’s Mannion’s fault though, right? He’s just another Derek Anderson or something?

Oh wait, DA was a Pro Bowl QB and won his only start this year…

    • Right, Mannion is a backup NFL QB at best. I never said he wouldn’t get drafted. There’s always an Al Davis type who falls for bad players

        • Wait…you’re saying DA is a good NFL QB?

A guy with a 70.5 rating, and an 82 rating with 19INTs the one decent year he went to the pro bowl…

Do think DA is better than Mannion, though.

          • How is DA better? Mannion is more accurate and throws about the same TD/INT ratio. DA was a 50.7% career passer while Mannion is at 65.3% Mannion is better. Just because he doesn’t Tom Brady the team to victories doesn’t mean he isn’t better than DA, Smith, or Canfield.

  35. Exactly what plays should the offense be running right now to be effective? I’m just curious what everyone complaining would do here. The one bright spot we’ve had tonight was Woods, but he’s done for the night.

  36. Both offenses have been bad/defenses good. Punting and kicking will win this game and both have been pretty good so far. Its an ugly game, but I’m intrigued to see how it plays out

  37. Makes zero sense to roll left there. Why did they do that, because rolling out worked on the deep pass? 4 yards you can run a draw there and get it…Utah was looking pass. You can also do a TE screen or slant. So many better calls.

  38. Villamin was supposed to be fast, athletic freak…a man child. Move him to DE. Soon.

NOW Riley decides to start using his timeouts?

It has been SO long since this team play four quarters of smart, fundamentally sound football….halfway through the season and the offense looks like it’s in it’s first game with a young qb.

  39. Holy shit! A draw on 3rd and 6 that goes for 10 and a first down. Who is this coaching staff and where have they kidnapped and hid the real ones???

  40. It would be so Oregon State to get a stop here but be offsides and Utah gets another shot and gets 6. Pretty much what I’m expecting

  41. When OSU was driving and had 3rd & 2, would have liked to have seen a Ward run. Good chamce he makes it and if less than a yard you maybe go on 4th. Riley went conservative and more can go wrong in passing.

  42. Don’t understand this.
If you want to try to slow the rush throw a screen don’t run two draws. Draw is fine early in the game but not here. So dumb.

  43. Jim Wilson pleading with coaching staff to hurry the offense up. They can’t. They don’t know how. It’s an embarrassment to our university and fan base.

  44. Mannion passes that one, I guess? What do you guys think?

Ward with the big play on the drive and the PI. Great throw though on 4th…clutch throw. B+

    • Didnt feel like a Coug it. That would involve having the win gift wrapped with a minute to go, and still fucking up. Utah just had the most talented offensive player on the field and he made the key plays

  45. So so close.

Can’t really blame Romaine much, he’s been money all year. Nobody hits them all.

Maybe if Villamin caught that ball that hit him in the hands….again…

  46. Welp, I had the 30-24 part close, but wrong team.

I’d put this loss on Mannion and the defensive depth (ran out of gas in the 3rd). Some really bad play calls, too, so as always the coaching staff gets some blame.

    • Nothing about the offensive line? Poor blocking and tons of penalties. Doesn’t fit your narrative of Mannion being terrible to recognize it.

      • By that logic every offense line is bad, because Utah came in with a reputation for heavy pressure and sacks. We all knew there would be pressure. It’s on the Beavers to negate that with play calls and heady QB play. Neither happened.

And as always: Mannion isn’t terrible. He’s just very average and not a winner. Like I’ve always said.

        • Angry, listen. Buddy. You could put Peyton Manning behind this offensive line and he wouldn’t be successful. Especially with an inexperienced receiving core. Cavanaugh NEEDS TO GO NOW. This is beyond ridiculous. What are we now, 4, 5, 6 years into having shitty offensive lines that can’t run block, pass block or both? WHAT THE FUCK??????

        • I really think in the college game you have to have mobility at the QB position. On some plays Mannion is like an old man out there. He has no escapability. If he had an “A” offensive line he could probably get away with it, but that’s not happening at OSU.

      • This is a horribly coached oline. False starts galore, no excuse. Massive whiffs no excuse, and straight up in blocked runs into the backfield. Horribly coached line.

        • Yes, and Riley will cover for Cav by saying it’s all about injuries and how he’s had to shuffle the players all around, blah blah blah

  47. well, that’s that. Couldn’t stop Devontae Booker when it counted. This team 7-5 at best due to the shitty offensive line.

  48. Massari and DeCarolis need to start searching for our next coach starting next week.

2 of 16 vs ranked opponents is simply unnacceptable.

That equates to only winning 12.5% of games with modest impact and more importantly LOSING 88.5% of them.

Sad coaching every way you slice it.

  49. Not running it from the Utah 38 on 3rd and 2 up 13-9 in the 4th was a huge play in the game. Once Oregon State punted from there it felt like they were going to lose. Defense played well most of the game, they were main reason Oregon State even had a chance to win

    • Yeah, I’m trying to think of the last time a Riley coached team just put another team away.at the end with out any drama. Take it all the way down, go up 20-9 and goodnight Utes. But Riley’s teams usually have some flaw against decent competition. The “flaw” is probably Riley himself.

    • Agree on that 3rd and 2, so typical of Riley; along with the lack of urgency near the end of regulation.

D was left on the field too long. Lotta heart shown by Strong, Doctor, and Wynn. (sure glad I didn’t fully buy in to that Frahm/Wynn thing…….heh, heh). Really expected a pick by Nelson.

    • Yup should have been 4 down territory call a run on 3rd and 4th if necessary.. The play calling is just brutal.. We should be running 8-10 fly sweeps per game.. And why in gods name do we go into shot gun everytime we have first and goal!???

      Pathetic…

  50. I’m betting from now until at least 2017 – with an experienced qb – this team is going to be having losing records. Hell, even for 2017 to be an uptick, recruiting better start improving.

  51. From a poster at PO:

“Failed to manage the clock at all. Lost two minutes in two plays and hadn’t moved the ball 10 yards. Then we have to rush our last several plays, which seem totally jumbled and confused (Sean motioned to spike it), then take a sack.

Just so many things piss me off. There is no way that Utah should have won that game. They were not the better team, but like usual the Beavers screw themselves with TO’s, penalties, drops, game management, etc.

The details are on the coaches and the details just cost these kids a W.”

  52. My opinion which doesn’t mean shit, this loss is on Cav and the shitty O-line. Kevin Gemmel on the espn.com pac-12 blog called it. You can’t average less than 30 pts a game and expect to win in the pac-12 this year. Utah scores 29 in 2 overtimes. Imagine that? If the O-line wasn’t so shitty at pass protection maybe a few more drives could have been sustained and the beavs win in regulation. Fuck You Cavanaugh! You suck the sweat off a dead mans balls!

    • I didn’t think the O-line played badly other than the false starts (inexcusable at home). The sacks were mostly due to Utah being good pass rushers and the poor/obvious play calling or Mannion taking an eternity to make a decision. Utah did control the line but they didn’t dominate and get huge push, which means there were opportunities with some creativity. If I were coaching the Beavs I’d have developed and called an entirely different offensive game plan. If OSU were open to criticism and suggestions I’d email it to Bob D and Riley, but they likely have blocked me.

There were some obvious reasons the game fell on Mannion:

      1. Missed wide open TD on the slot post.
      2. Threw INT that lead to 3 points. Without that Beavs likely win. Those two plays are 10 points. Terrible for a senior QB.
      3. Poor and slow decisions throughout, including taking bad sacks, missing wide open guys (Chris Brown in the flat), etc.

Riley blew clock management and play calling as he does every week.

D ran out of gas. Poor depth at LB.

Ward should be a 3rd down back and the Beavs use him as a featured back, so it’s hard to analyze run blocking fairly. Woods was rushing to a 5+ ypc. I just thought Mannion had equate time to pass or make a decision. Not great time but not terrible. Given the opponent that’s not poor o-line play imo.

      • Woods got hurt and was in street clothes for the 2nd half. Do you go with Brown in his place in a tight game? I’m not defending Riley here

  53. well, Ima go take NyQuil and attempt to autoerotic asphyxiate myself. Been real folks. Love, peace and geese until tomorrow if I fail. Which being a Beav fan means I most likely will. Someone will more than likely pick me up and bear hug me while cutting the rope due to lack of pass protection

  54. I’m so frustrated that we have a really good defense but our offense sucks outside a couple players. I give up on this team being able to put together a complete team on the field. Riley and his buddy Bobby need to move on. Hell let Tinkle take over even.

  55. I miss the command Jonathan smith had as a senior with the offense. He was short as hell but was a leader. Many hated him but he had command of his offense. Also with the running backs. Every year there was always the leader. Where’s the Kenny, Bernard , Rogers?! I left out Jackson because he made a difference but was short lived. Wasn’t a leader. Too bad we didn’t get gio to follow up quiz.

  56. Smith in his senior year didn’t have to look to the sideline for what to do. Mannion just has this leash that reminds me of a high school player.

    • Very true. I think he’s slow to process. Problem is so are his coaches, so when he looks to the sideline it takes an eternity to run a play…

        • I think they use that spinner thing from the game Twister. Next play….left hand green!

Problem is, if you spin it too hard, it takes up most of your playclock before it stops spinning.

  57. Y’all complain way too much. Expecting perfect games out of 18-23 year old athletes, come on. Yes, it was a winnable game. But do I cry poor coaching? No, it was a coin flip type game and it was just a hard loss.

I do question the kickoffs to the 18-19 yard lines tho. Isn’t Read one of the highest paid coordinators in the entire Pac? I expect more from him. But on defense they were really solid, on offense they could have been better and just had some mistakes. The refs were actually good; I was agreeing with almost all their calls in real time at the stadium.

Y’all make it seem like Beaver fans are the only ones with problems and everyone else has it together…no. Sheesh, giving the same meaning to the word “fanaticism”.
