  1. Oregon State DL Jalen Grimble is in street clothes. Did not participate in portions of practice open to media this week.

    That sucks.

Keep the Nebraska talk in the other thread, too.

  2. How ’bout this from Gina, Caleb Smith is ill and in street clothes. Wonder if the coaching staff has anything to do with the “illness”.

  3. Cool, well there is 7 of the 14 I have San Jose scoring. lol

Now we get to watch “Air Collins” spike screen passes into the ground, according to those at practice. I gave up drinking, but this might be a time to start.

    • The ones they currently have were first introduced the first year I was in the band there (2006, I think), so they aren’t exactly old. Last I heard, they’re going through the fund-raising process now to get new, up-to-date uniforms (undoubtedly, just in time for OSU to change the logo again)

  4. Beavs Defense is REALLY bad following a turnover. And Bad when quickly returning to field(3&out). This needs to change. Gotta have them ready to return without a drop off in ability.

  5. Thanks for the link guys. I’m running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it won’t allow that page to load. When I shut down the Malwarebytes program I get messages about need to download this or that. And if that doesn’t come up I’m getting an “error: reload page and try again”.

Oh well. A combination of Firefox, Ghostery and Malwarebytes appears to be fucking me royally.

  6. Looked like Decoud tried to pick up the ball and do something with it. If had just fallen on that, we’d have recovered.

Also, I thought the general rule was you let a punt go if you’d be receiving it inside the ten.

  7. I wish Riley didn’t screw the pooch with Cleveland Wallace. He’d have been a great Beavers buy it was obvious the Huskies were loaded at the position and playing time would be much tougher to come by then at Oregon State. Boley acting weak right near signing day cost us an athletic and physical DB.

  8. OT why do players put “III” on their uni? Are they concerned people will mistake them for their father who is playing on the same team?

  9. I still like my 20INT prediction* for Collins, despite what the High School football coach says that Collins is all world to this point.

    * if he remains the primary QB.

  10. Hope this turns around, as this can’t be good for any recruits there. Also worry that losing to teams with inferior talent might cause some more vocal discontent with the new coaching staff

  11. Is there some advantage to d backs having floppy sleeves like we did in cold games when I was in the 8th grade? I’ve seen it more this year with other teams, too.

  12. Regarding Cleveland Wallace, Heyward had him a Beav, then Riley let Heyward go to Washington (didn’t want to pay him, then gave Rod Perry 200k). Fuck Riley in every orifice.

  13. How does the whiteout look? Impressive? PC?

Seriously though, we wanted a coaching staff that could make some adjustments. Let’s see if we get some and this finishes well.

  14. Ball looked hiked before the timeout. GA getting out coached so far. Time for him to show he is a high-level coach. All these recruits and 4 stars and we are not taking advantage. Wake up guys!!

  15. . This is pathetic. Could Ga have hit a wall?? His last 4 games now are not pretty including the 59-0 drubbing to tOSU. Or do we just need to be patient and for him to get his own recruits to pound San Jose state at home?

    • Did the OSU coaching staff just underestimate SJSU, or is it on the player’s performance?

You have to figure a team like this is going to enjoy the “upset,” even if it is a rebuilding PAC team. Can’t let down in scheming or preparation as if superior across the board talent is enough.

Would love this coaching staff to come out and make this game look completely different in the second half.

  16. I”m listening to the game on the radio because I have to work on some outdoor stuff today. Are we actually gettig as jobbed as badly as Mike Parker is letting on?

  17. This game is soo boring! I love the Beavers thru and have club tickets for Stanford next week, but my god, I feel like I’m watching golf. Thought that would change when Riley left, but this is hard to watch.

  18. Gary Andersen looked like he hates life during that halftime interview. He might bolt if something better comes up. Dude does not look happy, even though Joseph Smith told him to come to Corvallis.

(half kidding, for the trolls who will try to hold this against me).

    • I think he likes the rebuild process. After that, he may lose interest. Or he may lose interest if somebody with a boner for Meyer coaching tree the wants Wittingham bad enough to hire him away.

  19. Spoke today with a guy who grew up with MR, he agreed that Riley lost interest when his daughter got knocked up. After a meet n greet with Andersen, he said, “some of these players are not gonna be able to adjust to the new staff”. A good, but short term painful, thing. IMHO.

  20. If we don’t win this game, GA needs to change his philosophy about not being obnoxious about football. Losing to SJSU is pretty obnoxious as far as I am concerned.

  21. Beavs jobbed themselves in the first half. Turnover by Dockery near goal line on punt return was a pure 7 pt gift to SJSU. Collins passes into the turf fit the practice report from Angry’s insider.

  22. So it looks like what we are going to get with Collins is like 10 awful passes, then one dart, and that occasional dart will make people say, “see, he can throw!”

Subject to change as data comes in, but that’s what it looks like.

      • I like the idea of something similar to what TCU had with the Ginger Avenger. Great runner? No, but he could hurt a team with a run when he needed to. Keep drives going, break the other team’s morale.

But, be able to throw the ball. Garretson will start based on decision-making ability and ability to throw the ball.

Seth will be second string. Or transfer.

      • Olympics? Gymnastics team? Male cheerleader?

GA loves having a RB/WR playing QB, so I’m not sure Garrettson would start. Depends how the season goes.

        • Christ, watch Mannion highlights and see how many big throws hit the WR in stride….they were usually adjusting (slowing down) for the ball.

Collins is a true FR. There’s time to improve his throwing. He needs to gain weight, increase his core strength, his arm strength, but he’s not there yet. He may not get there, but its fair to give him some time.

  23. I didn’t see a replay, but on the punt down at the one the TV guys said Cyril N-L was first to touch the ball and had his feet in the endzone. Should have been placed at the 20.

  24. Way to go Seth!! Nice TD run! That one might earn us a nice recruit and will certainly be highlighted on the premier of “The Drive” this Wednesday.

  25. Captain Obvious here, but If OSU could win 49-21 win or better, that will be good for the recruits, smooth over the first half disappointment, and improve overall program confidence.

In other words, don’t Riley-out. Don’t take your foot off the pedal.

    • Doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Unimaginative play call on Collins poorly blocked sweep on 3rd and 5 and then the FG attempt debacle.

  26. angry, you shouldn’t let the media influence your picks

“This has the potential to be a huge turning point for the Beavs QB situation. Weber State meant very little except getting nerves out, MI was a test and wake-up call, and what they need right now is a soft D1 team — a team better than Weber State but (much) worse than Michigan, and that’s what they get. The schedule actually worked out well here.

    38-13, good guys”

that would have been near spot on!

  27. Penalty on field goal attempt

    “that’s bullshit” – – Gary Andersen

Apparently this is not your father’s Beavs, wake up fellas, bike smiley is gone, stupid penalties are no longer acceptable.

  28. At the game(club seats wooo). Storm has saved our bacon, as has the D. Not sure why that middle draw tore us up early but the picks help.

Seriously hope this shows every Chris Brown fan how wrong they were about him starting. Dude is just not ready; he got PLANTED on that inside run, and Storm has been the primary since then.

  29. Sounds like personnel experimentation might be paying off. Clarkson sounds like he is playing well with Harlow, Ortiz does something more than catch the odd pass and get overrated for it.

  30. I do hate this shit, it should be 49-21 and people would say that OSU dominated a team they should have, but with all of this fucking around and wasting opportunities, the progress won’t show through like it should.

    • You might also say it should be 49-7, as two SJ scores came from short drives due to a dropped punt and an int. Lots of mistakes we made…. hopefully the coaches can get things more stable. Experience helps, … young team etc etc…. And 300 yds rushing is something we aint seen since…..

  31. “The only institution I know that has a barbershop is the U.S. sentate hahahaahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA”

    -a very funny announcer

  32. At the end of the day, we win and start the season 2-1. I can live with that. I am under no delusion that this won’t be a brutal season, but unlike some of the posters here, I respect the process and I respect GA and the rest of this coaching staff.

Remember Biley had well over a decade to achieve his mediocrity. Let’s give this staff and these VERY young players some time to develop and not just throw them under the bus so fast.

Next week is likely a loss, but its also just one more game in the learning process. Let’s all try to remember that.

  33. Nice break out for the Beavs in the 2nd half, but this game probably shouldn’t have been this competitive…

With non-league behind us, here’s my prediction for our league slate:

    vs. Stanford – LOSS
    @ Arizona – LOSS
    @ Washington State – WIN
    Vs. Colorado – WIN
    @ Utah – LOSS
    vs. UCLA – LOSS
    @ Cal – LOSS
    vs. Washington – LOSS
    @ Oregon – LOSS

That puts the Beavs at 4-8 on the year. Pretty crap prediction, but our wins against Weber State and SJSU simply aren’t convincing enough for me to think we’ll get more than a couple of wins in the Pac-12.

Hopefully GA can convince some better players to come here and play in his system next year, because this year is truly a rebuilding year.
