Home Football Utah Post Game

Utah Post Game

401

What a weird game.

I guess what we want to see at this point is progress. Did we? I don’t know what we saw. On one hand, the defense seemed to play well, getting some key stops, better tackling, and holding Utah to “only” 27 (that’s still a lot of points, but many expected a blowout). You decide if that’s a step forward or not because I can’t draw any conclusion based on what I saw.

Utah had just under 400 yards of offense. Wilson was extremely efficient, 14/17 200 yards and a TD. Booker had 121 yards on nearly a 5 yard clip. That’s balanced offense by Utah. Meanwhile, if you look at the Beavs, there wasn’t any balance. The leading rusher was Victor Bolden, then Nick Mitchell. That’s no way to run an offense. It’s like the offense is being run in reverse and they’re afraid to use the running backs. Very odd considering the game Nall had last week and that Mitchell needed the help. You can understand why people hate Baldwin based on all this. I get it. If this continues next year I’ll be on that bandwagon, but his resume suggests big offensive numbers and balance, so I’ll wait and see on him.

Regarding Mitchell, I guess it caused a semi-stir when I called him a “tweener” who would make a good backup. That’s what I saw tonight. I like to give QBs more time than just one game before drawing conclusions, so I’ll leave that open-ended. But I feel about 90% sure that’s what Mitchell is. Subject to adjustments as we move forward. He played fine tonight given the circumstances, but I see concerning issues.

Sounds like Collins is in GA’s doghouse and that relationship is strained. My guess is the story I reported here and a lot of the rumors we’re hearing leak from other sites are true. You had to be blind not to see SC as a headcase, imo. Sorry. But it was just so obvious; no hindsight required. If he remains with the team, I think using him inside the 10 and using Mitchell everywhere else is the best option. This would allow Collins to run for TDs when the field shrinks inside the 10. I don’t think Mitchell can make the throws down there anyway. That’s a skill in itself.

Big picture: game went about as I expected (I had it 35-20). Wish I saw more progress. These are painfully slow baby steps. Also, I don’t understand why GA isn’t going after a big time QB recruit. Someone mentioned Davy Moore in a different thread — it was a great point. Why stop recruiting him over personality issues, and then sign a mega headcase like Collins? But beyond that: why isn’t GA recruiting a big time (is Moran really the answer?) QB this cycle? Even if he believes in Garretson, what if he gets injured? The lack of a QB might define the Andersen era. If he doesn’t get a big one this cycle he could be setup for failure.

  1. The lowest the Utes have scored this year is 24 and have scored as high as 62. Holding them to 27 at their place is good.

    Offense? Ummmm no.

    • The defense played better after Utah’s first 2 drives. After those drives I thought they wouldn’t be able to stop Utah all night. Also just looked like Utah isn’t as good as their ranking would indicate. Similar to the 2012 Beavs up through October, before it all fell apart

  2. Mitchell runs ok, his passing is meh. It looks like his arm is super weak, or the motion is funny, I can’t make out what’s wrong, but something IS wrong with it.

  3. I think the adjustments after the first two Utes touchdowns showed the coaching staff and team could adjust on D. That’s a positive we did not see during Riley era.

  4. Also wish we would have kept our interest in Davy Moore. Seemed intriguing if maybe a little short? Main thing OSU needs is a good game manager with accurate enough passing ability. Being able to mix in some zone read or scramble when needed are also beneficial but less essential IMO.

Agree that GA needs a high calibre QB and should be able to attract one. Garretson should be a step up from NM but how much we can win in the Pac-12 will be seen. Moran is a tiny bit slower than NM in my mind and I don’t like going any slower than that. He’ll have to show he can throw but I doubt he is much better than Nick in that regard.

Go out and find a quick enough slinger who can throw with more precision. Easier said then done but definitely a need to have much shot of winning more than a few league games after Garretson. Seth probably is capped at a few league wins a season even if recruits begin to lift overall play.

  5. I was baffled by a lot of the offensive play calling tonight. Even though the Beavs moved the ball, I didn’t see a “plan”. Seemed more haphazard.

What happened to the rushing game? Nall was nearly non-existant after 100+ yards last week and being named GA’s “War Daddy”.

    D was decent.

  6. Enjoyed getting to attend the game. Ute fans were overall pretty decent and provided solid support for their team. Thoughts from the game tonight:

    1. Mitchell is the best option we have at QB for this season. He isn’t going to win games for the team and his arm strength is definitely subpar, but he did serve as an adequate game manager. By and large, he avoided 3 and outs, allowing the defense to rest up in between drives. Simply not a great enough team around him to make up for his deficiencies, though.

    2. What was with the lack of running plays? I am fairly certain Nall didn’t carrythe ball a single time, which is absurb, given how he performed last week.

    3. After the first couple of drives, the defense looked solid. Kept the game interesting far longer than it should have been.

I believe this team has one complete performance ahead of them before the end of the season. Not saying it will result in a win necessarily, but we will see that one game that will give us a bit of hope about things going into 2016 and beyond.

  7. OT: Watching the WSU-Stanford game, and it seems like it’s going to come down to PAC-12 refs. Which, if you’re a WSU fan, isn’t a good thing.

EDIT: They’re going to edit out that anti-Stanford chant later lol.

    EDIT2: And, somehow, Stanford survives.

    • I give Miami big credit for having a solid understanding of end game. In that situation the game should only end if youre tackled with the ball, go out of bounds, score, or turn it over. So big picture, never be the guy who gets tackled. I hate hailmarys, cause there is only one chance point, catch or drop. But in the lateral game, the can be unlimited chance points.

  8. Stanford fucked it up on their last possession. can’t punch it in with a power run game? Which is their identity. Lots of bad calls, lots of missed calls.

  9. i didn’t watch the game. box score shows one 3 and out, which is improvement, no? no Nall rushes. Taking it easy on norris? Is baldwin trying to be unpredictable? the offense just needs to find a rhythm, not reinvention every week.

looks like NM ran for at least one 1st down. maybe he needs 10-20lbs in his legs and core so he has a better base from which to throw a better ball.

Collins has disappointed overall. He’s athletic. I like the inside the 10 idea. His arm seems decent. Not sure where his head is; doesn’t seem in control of his emotions on or off the field. Can he make correct reads at some point or does he think his feet will take him wherever he wants to go? I think his brightest future is at WR in the power 5.

    • Collins is a female, thus he sucks. What is so hard to understand about that?

Let’s get with it people. And by people, I mean those who can understand anything without just getting all overly emotional like women always do. I mean… come on. So if you don’t understand what I’m talking about, maybe you’re just a woman.

I think I’m getting the hang of this.

  10. Jack, what are your thoughts on the game? Most of us had a few positive things we thought came from it. I figured Buzz “jack” Killington could bring us all crashing back to earth.

    • I thought it was better than expected. I mean, we played less like women than I thought we would. But then, it could be that we played like women, and Utah also played like women, sorta equalizing the woman-ness of the whole affair. So it could be that it was just a matter of us not knowing how womanly everyone really was.

I think the coaches would know better than any of us. That’s gotta be a fact.

      • Here we go again. Women or vulvae were never brought up in this thread. Yet, Jack revives an old topic in an older thread. Jack we must’ve really upset you, MR. Anti-joke / PC / White Knight. It’s good to know we are really getting to you.

And stop talking about Collins asshole, it’s getting weird.

  11. I don’t know mang, you had a team full of freshman playing against a team full of seniors. Utahs 1 touchdown in the second half started with a 30 yard pass that was a blatant offensive pi that didn’t get called. Probably the best tackling, gap integrity and most patient d we’ve seen all year.

Only 1 3 and out and against one of the best d’s in the league. No turnovers. Major improvement.

Mitchell first career start and he made almost every correct decision. Just not quite there execution wise yet, but he’s been buried on the bench. Does not throw a good deep ball but most his, but much better short and intermediate passed.

I think we beat UCLA next week. Hate moral victories but this was not a bad loss.

My biggest complaint is why didn’t nall carry the rock

  12. I missed hearing…..what happened to Collins?? From the future of the team to not included in a road trip….. what the fuk…..??

  13. Andersen gave a slight chuckle when asked to process his emotions in the minutes following the game.

This was different than getting blown out at Arizona. Or the tale of two halves at Washington State. Or failing offensively down the stretch at home against Colorado.

Yes, Andersen was “very discouraged” about Saturday’s result. He maintains that the Beavers will win when they deserve to win. But after that performance against an opponent of Utah’s caliber, he could not help but notice some positives about the big picture.

“I love this group of kids,” Andersen said. “I’m never gonna walk away encouraged when we lose, but I do continually see signs of improvement and toughness. There’s no backing down. They don’t care who they play, where they play or what they’re doing. They’re growing up …

“I’m proud of them, but not at all satisfied.”

    http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/10/oregon_state_beavers_toe_line.html

I agree with his sentiment. Injuries aside, they are slowly starting to grow up. And again, I still contend this team will put one together before the season is over and surprise someone that no one expects they will. They didn’t quit at any point in these last 3 games and there is improvement.

  14. Moran committed when we recruited him as a QB vs a DB like other major programs similar to Collins and I think the reason for that is trying to establish the Chandler pipeline and he believes in Garretson is the answer at QB.

    • We’re likely going to get a year with Moran in a red shirt anyway. But I feel like the evaluation of his QB play was what got him the offer as a QB PSA. And he went with it because we saw his abilities before anyone else did.

That he was already talking to people about the other side is impressive. But I don’t think it’s similar at all to Collins’ situation. I don’t think anyone would ask Collns to play safety… because he has a vulva.

    • That is a risky strategy to recruit a QB you plan to convert to S just to establish a Chandler pipeline (if that’s what you’re saying).

I think that ESPN game where Moran looked bad has soured a lot of people on him. Myself included. But maybe he had a bad game vs a good team and is better than that. I hope so, because he was bad! I’m not sure this staff is very good at QB evaluation. They listed the worst guy as #1, then moved the #3 up to #1. But hey, coaches always know best and depth charts are never wrong!

      • I think that ESPN game where Moran looked bad has soured a lot of people on him.

He lit up one of the best defenses in the state of Arizona last night with over 400 total yards, that team was undefeated and ranked #24 in the country.

  15. You bring up good points about the QB situation. And remember, he had QB controversy at Wisconsin, as well. It can kill a coaching career, as it almost did with Whitt at Utah. Seems like a grad transfer or JC QB might be the best bet for next year. But, who knows, maybe Mitchell will develop over the rest of the season.

Seth Collins seems like his best fit might be at wide receiver. If he humbles himself enough to accept another position, he might realize that his ceiling is higher there.

    • That’s true, Whitt came close to losing his job when he was forced to play that D-2 transfer at QB (or maybe he was a walk-on?) because he had no one else that one year.

      • It’s the only way I see the GA era failing. It’s starting to look like a very real possibility. Even if Garretson is the best Qb on the roster, what happens next year if he gets hurt? Mitchell looks like he can come in and play a bit. But I don’t see any of these guys taking the Beavs to new heights or competing for championships, which is what GA says is his ultimate goal. If that is the goal, they need to go out there and recruit the position hard (should take 2 or 3 QBs this cycle, and yet they seem content with just Moran).

        • I wonder if they are recruiting hard and just not garnering much interest. Seems like the need would not be lost on the staff. Or, maybe they know something we don’t.

        • Yeah, my guess is they’re looking at a transfer from another school or a JC. I still have optimism for them to get another QB aside from Moran.

        • And I’m nervous about any “Garretson” is a savior mentality amongst the fan base. Keep in mind, he was third string on albeit a strong Mountain West team who played decently when called upon. He was performing well against the likes of New Mexico, SJSU, UNLV, etc. I’m not saying he won’t continue to develop, but it’s not the same pedigree.

        • I can see Mitchell being a good back up option when his accuracy improves. A lot of teams have a clear #1 at QB, so the decision is easy. Speaking of Riley, did you see how back their 2nd string QB sucked. It could be too early to predict how the GA era ends. Let’s see next year. We might have Garretson a clear #1 and Mitchell #2.

    • I’ll say it again. I think Collins has a D’Anthony Thomas-like capability that is being wasted as a QB and wouldn’t be maximized as a receiver. I mean, do we really know he can catch a ball and isn’t another Victor Bolden? To take a page out of Angry’s play book, imagine a backfield of Nall and Collins in the red zone, where defenses have to prepare for both a bruiser and slasher. Even a QB of modest ability, like Mitchell, would prosper in that situation

      • Yeah, I have no idea. Just putting it out there- and I’m sure I’m not the first one to think of it. His height and speed seem like a good fit. And there are tons of cocky wide receivers out there. It just doesn’t seem as impactful on the team when they are not the QB.

  16. Is anyone else watching this KC-Detroit game in London? Again they are using really bad camera angles. I really don’t need to see the top of Alex Smith’s helmet. Everything is hyper-zoomed in and at offset angles.

If these are the new cameras and angles, the game is actually unwatchable. It’s causing eye strain for one, but it also doesn’t allow you to see how the WRs are setup or anything downfield. Just awful…

I noticed the Beav game using bad angles last night as well. I guess some suit has determined this is good?

      • You are only polarizing people further against your original arguments. But I doubt you care. Your little tirades here and harping on this 100 times aren’t about concern for women or a concept of fairness. (Which is a debate we had already in a previous thread.) It’s obvious at this point, it’s all about you.

        • Ftr… nobody said anything about concern for women or fairness in any previous conversation. I just wanted to know why misogyny was funny, and you explained it. So now I get it. It’s funny.

It’s rather liberating. My mangina just fell off, and now I have a rather large gladius with some handsome stones.

You seem to have lost yours.

  17. As much as I hate trolls, it shows that not only those who support the Beavs come on here, but those who hate. That is a testament to the quality of the site. Kudos to all the members who provide good conversation and can handle criticism/trolling.

  18. Was very pleased with the defense yesterday. I think with more recruits and less injuries in a year or two we can have a ferocious defense… But this offense is what worries me. We flat out can not score. Mitchell had us marching all game but dumb play calls/bad execution stalled almost all of the drives. We need more play makers on offense… I think next year the combo of Deltron Sands and Nall will be a very dynamic running back duo. Hopefully in the mean time we can find a quarterback that can ball.

  19. The offense is sporadic right now. Part of it may be the play calling, but I think a big part of it is the inexperience. It feels like the timing and positions are just slightly off which makes a lot of the plays look “broken”.

Re: Collins, I feel like the coaches could use the NFL angle to convince him to take another position. There is no way he will play QB at the next level, so why not try a position that you might have a chance at? Or maybe his vulva will hold him back no matter the position…

  20. I’m just really frustrated by not trying nall ball at all. And a Really bad excuse for it post game. The other team has really good dL??? Wtf is that? It’s the coaches saying let’s not even try this game cause the other is better than us. Very very weak minded Rileyesque decision. Nall ball is a strength, and you’ve got to at least test and probe the strengths. I can’t stand watching stormy run headlong into his own OL and never ever trying Nall. War Daddy, that’s on you GA.

    • Love this line: “How do you have clock management issues every week with 220 years of coaching experience?” [among his chosen staff]

        • And Riley continues to make post game bland Riley bullshit, like …we’ll continue to coach em up…. LOL — dude, the problem is, you DONT coach em. …

You gotta hand it to him, he plays out this charade with real skill and determination — skill in maintaining the coaching pretense, and determination to milk this gullability to the bitter end.

He continues to set records! This is the first time EVER, that NU entered November with 6 losses…..lol.

          • Exactly.

“We need to coach them better…[after I ignore rape charges so I can take a nice nap, change my colostomy bag, and cash this phat check].”

    • Dillard is a former NU linebacker that played sparingly in the NFL. But yes, he reiterates many of the things we had been saying here for years about Riley and staff.

He says Riley is in over his head

        • Not all. Some of them still say he just needs to get “his players” in there. That’s only going to make them softer. I said congratulations Riley after Nebraska hired him for failing upward for the 2nd time in his career. Some said he’d be more successful with better talent. Many of us laughed at that because we were aware of he and his inane clown posse coaching shortcomings. I did not think the Nebby players would take on their coaches identity this quickly. And you can see the effect it had on OSU players. GA and staff are still trying to flush the Riley out of some of their players.

    • wow. we could’ve told ’em but nobody wanted to listen because folks like Sean McDonough were telling them what a great coach he is. This podcast has the whole shebang: poor blocking technique, over commitment to the pass, defensive backs not looking back for the ball; I mean EVERY thing

      • Did anyone else hear about the real reason Seth Collins didn’t make the trip this weekend? He’s not hurt at all! He threw a tantrum at practice on Thursday over something and Coach told him to stay home and think about it! I was also told he was probably gonna transfer! All from extremely credible sources!

The comments are much like Jack’s posts in this thread. Painful so you just ignore them

        • I went to the USC/OSU volleyball game a couple weeks ago. Sat in the orange courtside seats across from the Beaver Dam. There was a dude wearing a “Dam Director” shirt with three other guys, one of who was a big guy, who were all yelling at the USC girls and calling them “b*tches” and a bunch of other crap. I’m now wondering if he was one of them.
My spouse is an ex-volleyball player and I have to say that I wanted to go over there and deck them for it. It was an ugly thing to see coming from our supposed student section.

          • I don’t believe you. I go to the volleyball games, I was there. I didn’t hear anyone from our student section calling anyone bitch. And I believe that if they did, they would have been dealt with by the University on-site security people. There aren’t enough people at volleyball games, and not enough noise, for that kind of behavior to go unnoticed and ignored.

      • Except Seth Collins is young and has the potential to grow and mature. Jack(s) sound like a bitter 50-year-old hippie who can’t process the shades of gray in his life other than those on his rapidly thinning hair. Seth Collins could still have a good college football stint, whereas Jack has regressed in his AB career.

        • And yet more PC rationalization from the great undouched. WFO was right. I should have asked you why you have sand in your twat. You yourself said it was funny. So this can’t be wrong.

Kill this site… that’s funny too.

  22. Angry,

Would you please ban Jack. I find his posts on this thread very offensive and feel they add little to the conversations surrounding beaver sports. He is making your site unreadable and undermines what I hope is the positive nature of this site. At the very least, an apology to your female readers is in order.

    • I’m tired of Jack’s trolling. It’s really cheapening this board. Right now angrybeavs.com has certainly surpassed other Beavers forums, but the Jack stuff is undermining what momentum this board has built in the past few months especially.
Plus, if it’s connected to the Beavs Recruiting Twitter account, it really hurts the whole image and will not be taken seriously.

    • Have you also found posts offensive on previous threads that refer to football players as girls? I’m a woman, and I don’t find any of these comments offensive, just very juvenile. Sort of like what my teenage boys find hilarious.

Jack is annoying several times a month, this is typical Jack. I don’t see how this is any different than his regular late night schtick. Why are people so much more bothered by this version of Jack?

      • I feel the same way on the first part, and I am usually fine with Jack, even when I disagree with him. I’m not fine with him hijacking the thread with dozens of sarcastic posts reviving an old argument that add nothing to the site.

Frankly, I’d probably be more annoyed with Jack’s incessant sarcasm about women than anything said in a comment before, if I were a woman. Jack’s tantrum is somewhat akin to attacking critics of some aspect of the Black Lives Matter campaign by posting African-American stereotypes everywhere and throwing the n-word around to mock them. It is utterly insulting and not constructive.

        • What’s this tantrum and sarcasm bullshit?

This is just humor, nothing more. It has been validated (by you, among others) previously. I fail to see how humor can hijack anything.

Now go put your panties on. Your dignity shows every time your skirt blows up.

        • You must have missed his N-Bombing post a while back? It’s been a while, couple years maybe. Same thing, got his panties in a wad and threw the N-Bomb around about 50 times in one thread.

          • I think what I said was that nigger was just a word, and context was what made it offensive. I can’t quite remember, but I think I also likened it to the word faggot and how gays took ownership of that word so that they no longer allowed others to feel they had any power when using the word in any context.

And then some people got their panties in a wad about having to *gasp* see a word in print rather than seeing “the N-word” and seeing the exact same thing in their mind. And then I agreed to never do it again unless someone else first brought it up…

… because you all are a bunch of SJWs.

The topic of whiskey’s dearly departed is worse than the word nigger, which is worse than misogyny-comedy, which is worse than being accurate in the use of the English language. You all are PC monsters to some degree and hypocrites for not owning it. You feel comfortable making misogyny jokes and defending them.

This is no white knight or sarcasm or anything of the sort. And I don’t need to stop or apologize on this one because you all validated it. I asked. You said it’s fine. I’m going to be free to say what I want in this arena knowing it’s funny and totally a fine thing to do.

So stop being a bunch of dried up old pussies. I’m free. You should go ahead and do the same.

          • Yeah…that may be basically what happened. Except that you’re not capable of not acting like a spastic dildo and you had to say it way too many times in way too many posts to prove that nobody is the boss of you.

          • There’s that PC idea again. It’s sort of like there’s some marginal utility of humor/language. It reminds me of an old joke.

Man1: “Would you suck my dick for ten doallars?”
            Man2: “No, Im not gay.”
Man1: “Well then, would you suck it for five million dollars?”
Man2: “And nobody else would ever know?”
            Man1: “Now we’re just haggling.”

          • I was thinking childish. But you’re entitled to your own opinions. I say opinions because I’m certain your multiple personalities have many.

As angry stated, he could go take a dump on his neighbors lawn. But just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. Non PC is fine and most around here don’t give a shit. But seriously? In every post? I’ve posted juvenile and childish shit too. I don’t in EVERY post. There’s a difference between being non PC and just being an ass. Bring the amp back down to about 4ish

          • There’s that marginal utility thing yet again.

I’m going to see if I can get funding for a study on this phenomenon. I’ll title it, “The Grossly PC Idea That There Is a Marginal Utility for Being Non-PC.”

Or maybe I’ll just call it, “The Really Scary Pussification of America and How I Cashed in.”

          • Here I’ll explain, I might call a buddy a homo for doing something thoughtful. Or call him a retard for doing or saying something stupid. But would I ever call a gay person a fag? Or a mentally or physically handicapped person a retard? No. Why? Because that would make me an asshole. Only you in your bizarre mind can turn something into something else it isn’t. So I think I’m speaking for all of us jack when I say stop acting like a retard. Keep it up if you wish but your certainly not making any friends around here. Pretty fucked up that I’m being the voice of reason. Not posting about this anymore. I’m done as I think most of us are

          • Except for you.

I never expected you to try reason. Granted, it’s shit reason. And there is the name-calling that was expected. But I thought there would be more deflection than anything.

      • IoneBeaver is cool.

I usually like Jack. Guess I am in the minority.
But this White Knight Syndrome Jack is lame. The thing is, that is so exhausting there is no way he can keep it up. It will fade on its own — respect the process!

          • I find it hard to believe that you tolerate this asshole on your site. You seem like a smart, thoughtful person. I feel sad that you let this individual cheapen the discussion on your site. I was hoping you were above this stupid, childish fray. I am disappointed. This could be your new masthead: Beaver sports analysis and juvenile mysogeny all in one blog!

          • What’s with the personal attacks LB?

I’m being funny, and you are calling names?

Tsk tsk… the weak of mind resort to this stuff, I guess.

          • It’s a case by case thing. Jack usually has good insight, so I don’t want to ban him.
I don’t want to have to ban anyone. Small govt around here. Police yourselves. I banned two guys ever, and one I reinstated after a few days.

If Jack bothers you, ignore Jack or read pure orange. The more you ignore Jack, the sooner he will run out of energy.

          • We need an ignore button. Another site I am a part of has that. I’m not sure if you can do it, but that would help. It just blocks posts by certain posters you choose, and you can unblock them also.

          • Willing to bet you are/were a social loser and ugly, Jack. I’d be willing to bet the bank. Only the whiners who think life isn’t fair (due to being handed a shittier deck). It’s a defined fact now that you are a loser on this board, so that’s why I make the fair assumption that it translates into reality.

          • I don’t gamble. But if all books were as ignorant as you, I would make a killing… as would everyone else.

And you’re the only one whining. Irony isn’t what they mine to make steely.

        • I’m not easily offended. Really, life’s too short and interesting to be offended by what people write on the internet. I read the entire thread the other day, and I know Jack’s trying to make a point in the most annoying way he can, because that’s what he does.

Why would I be more offended by his comments than the ones yesterday? I’m offended by neither. I already know girls are awesome and insulting men by calling them girls is not something I’m threatened by.

Jack typically gets stuck on something and it takes what seems like a long time to let it go. I’ve been reading here for a long time. I pretty much know what to expect from Jack. Good sports analysis when he’s serious and late night tirades.

          Angry’s right, it will pass.

    • The lady is right, angry. Just because you dont find it offensive, doesnt mean it isnt. Lots of folks in the old days didnt find it offensive that blacks had to ride in the back of a bus. This is your blog, Angry. If Jack turns it into something sexist, he is making you, sexist.

      • Whoa there! I didn’t make it this way. That’s why angry can’t ban or censor me. He and others scolded me for simply asking why misogyny was considered funny.

So I just stopped fighting it, and started using their jokes. What’s funny is that they think it’s some sort of statement of some kind. So I’m free in two ways here. I get to say what I want, and I get to let them think they are in control.

          • I think you are either insane or insanely stupid. I am ashamed that we both cheer for OSU. I pray that you are a Fred Meyer fan and not true alum.

          • I do sweetie! And I think it’s funny to pretend that I’m a fat woman with an eating disorder. Oh… and me having depression and any other number of problems… that’s all funny shit too… especially in the middle of a discussion where you’re saying misogyny isn’t funny.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go back to chastising you with faux rage… or extreme hypocrisy… while pretending to be LadyBEAV again.

        • So every string of posts had misogyny in it? Because that’s what your doing, posting bullshit in every conversation here. I know your trying to be funny, but comedy has timing, you have none, therefore, you are not funny or a comedian.

          • And so much, too: “SC pulled his vulva” or some stupid crap like that. Oh no. Women are being set back to the 50’s with that dumbass comment on a message board full of other dumbass comments. Alert the media.

I’m just going to ignore Jack and his spam posts from now on. If they are allowed to continue unabated, though, I’ll probably just do something else with my AB time like I predict others will as well.

          • Dumbass comment? You were the one who confirmed it was hilarious.

I still don’t get it. But I’m willing to add all these good jokes to my arsenal. And if I need to learn timing, I need a lot more practice to get them right.

          • You can’t practice comedic timing, either you have it or you don’t. You don’t. Stop patronizing ever little thing that is posted on this site. Your intolerant of anyone else’s views, because they differ from yours. Then you try and make smart-ass, pseudo-intellectual posts to make yourself feel smart. Congratulations, your a professional Internet troll, the lowest form of life.

          • What kind of ore do we mine to forge steely?

That has to be some of the funniest wee wee here. You can come down off your moral high horse, hypocrite.

    • Jackl sometimes gets into a TROLL mode, like above, and just becomes annoying, which I guess is his intent.

My feeling is, a troll is ok if he is clever and puts something into it. If not, its just annoying, cheapens the blog and should be eliminated. Ban or delete the boring troll posts, whichever is easier.

But If Angry choses not to, hey, I really appreciate the site, and the work Angry does to provide and maintain it

      Thanks, angry!

    • Guys,
I believe Jack is mad at us for comparing players and people to women and women parts (for his own PC agenda). And so he is punishing us and hopes we will change the way we speak. I would apologize for all of us so we could move on, but we all agreed years ago that we don’t apologize of behalf of others. So there you go Jack, people understand your point.

Now apologize for having to take it too far as a result of your inability to eloqunetly nor effectively convey your point unto the fellow readers. Or just stop and we all move on.

        • I do have to admit, this is by far the easiest troll I’ve done on this site, even after I tell everyone it’s a troll, they just can’t stop. And they’re so predictable.

Yes, the material isn’t funny. It doesn’t even rise to the level of banal. But that’s why it works. It’s not the material that is comedy gold.

You know how hard it was to not comment on the Seth Collins post on Saturday morning? I was so hoping BeavGirl would be here today so I could mess with her head too. You guys set yourselves up so perfectly.

          • Nothing of the sort. Proved you wrong about what?

I just watched you all freak out. There was some really funny self-righteous bloviation and moralistic weeping going on. The best ones were those same little sermons, but they were accusing me of doing precisely what they were doing. I liked the “punishing us” or “teaching us a lesson” or the groupthink terms like SJW and whatever too. Those were quite funny. People act in funny ways when they face a void where logic and order should exist.

What I don’t understand is that I got some +1 from more than one person on some comments. I figure it was just some Ducks or Blitzers.

          • You missed all the fun. There are a bunch of tearful whiners strewn about the place. I think a couple of them got a hangnail while stretching.

  23. Just got some pretty cool news. 2017 chandler WR Kolby Taylor and his parents are flying up to visit for this weekends game. Pretty cool to get a talented guy to fly up on his dime.

    • Beavblazer,

I was thinking the same thing when I read that tweet. Must have gotten some pretty good feedback from his teammates as well as the staff doing a great job to get him up here. Do you know of any other visitors for this weekend?

Any word on Ionescu? I know she’s a long shot w/her bro walking on at UofO but hey, maybe she wants to be close but not that close. :-) Graves is bringing in some serious talent down there.

      • I keep the most recently updated visitor list pinned to the top of the twitter page. 4 known visitors so far plus maybe Gunnar Braydon from West Linn is a maybe. I’m sure there will be more added as the week goes by.

Havent heard anything about Ionescu. I felt like she was leaning duck a few weeks ago after her brother committed there, but she seems to have a good rapport with Kat Tudor, so I wouldnt count us out.

  24. I’m not sure the person posting as “Jack” is actually “the Jack” as the posts seem a bit (a lot) out of character.

    Or am I missing something?

    • The weird posts seemed to occur in the very early morning hours when most people are asleep. Likely fueled by mind altering drugs, i.e booze, dope, etc. Either way, it’s not funny or cool to degrade females. Hope there is a part of him inside that feels sorry for his insensitive outbursts. I normally enjoy his OSU knowledge and wit but he stepped over the line this time.

      • The early hours & booze or drugs, or ??? had occurred to me too. If the postings have been made by the regular Jack I must admit I’m very disappointed as I thought he has contributed a lot (other than the occasional rambling) to the discussion(s) – especially basketball.

          • Yes, and I’m a bit disappointed in angry’s cavalier attitude about it. His site, but free speech doesn’t mean you have to let someone spam his sarcasm and bad attitude at everyone. I expect I’ll be leaving soon (yeah, I know, don’t let the door hit my ass and all that :) )

          • It’s the gift that keeps on giving. I can hear people whimpering in the shadows, licking their wounded egos, lashing out at the darkness because they don’t know where to go from here.

You are who you are. I can’t help you with that.

Nice miss with the fallacy, btw.

          • see I do that too. There’s a way to troll and flame and not go overboard with it. My honest assessment? Someone else posted it earlier. Little Jack got all butthurt about him being labelled as a feminist or “white knight in armor” (or whatever the fuck angry linked) and decided to troll us as a way for him to continue to feel intellectually superior to those who he felt had wronged him. Look I’ve done juvenile shit too. I’ve posted as Drunk Sark. Lindsay’s four stomachs. But I also think I don’t go overboard with it. Hostile thread takeovers or have conversations with myself posting under a different name. I don’t really care about a trolling attempt. Hell, there’s folks here that don’t like my shtick and just cruise on past whatever I post as well. But that one was beyond juvenile. It was childish. Like a four year old annoying you saying, Dad! Dad! Dad! or continually poking you in an attempt to just get a reaction. If you are going to flame or troll from time to time, at least bring something to the table to discuss that’s worthy or of substance. I’ll admit just as angry did he does have some good posts and insights. Specially with hoops. But lately he’s been more annoying than anything.

          • Does whiskey need a hug.

That’s some awesome stuff right there. The trolling because “intellectually superior” is the best, because that’s what trolling says to me.

Q: Am I wrong in assuming others have lives outside this blog?

          • Jack, don’t take this personally. I’ve said it before. I’ve met many, many people from many walks of life in my shitty 40 years of existence on this earth. I can smell bullshit and a douchebag when I see it. Does that make me better than anyone else? No, it doesn’t. I’ve smelled yours. It exudes 100% douchebag. If you’d actually contribute instead of being said complete douchebag more often than not, that’d be great.

            Signed,

            Everyone

            PS,

No, I don’t need a hug. The guess here is you’d rather hug yourself in front of a mirror though.

  25. I really liked the effort and energy in our defense especially. Mitchell did amazingly well considering he wasn’t announced as starter til Thursday. He does need work, however.

    • And it’s not just a “jack” thing. It would work great with trolls, “duke of douche bags” and so on. It does show that the poster posted something it just blocks what they typed, and you can choose to read it by clicking a button.

  26. I think what I’ll do is make the forums the main page. Nobody really comments on what I write anyway (not sure anyone even reads it). People seem to just talk about what they want in the comments, so that screams “use the forums” to me.

That way people can make all their own topics and easily ignore users they don’t like. It’s hard to do in the wordpress template.

If someone wants to write an ignore user function for wordpress go for it. I’ll give you a good reference in return.

    • I can’t fully anticipate what making the forums the main page will mean in practice but I think you’re wrong when you say “Nobody really comments on what I write anyway.” That’s not my sense. Yes, people veer around, and some get obnoxious, but your commentary is the “straw that stirs the drink” around here. Even with its all too obvious flaw (the trolls) it’s a valuable source of OSU athletic information, analysis and commentary.

    • I enjoy your comments. They are well-crafted and correctly provocative.
I don’t think one night of one person off their meds should determine how to manage your site.

    • Speaking only for myself, I always read what you write but often comment “off topic”. That’s because the current/active thread seems to be the one on which most ab’s read and report current news. I’ve checked older threads and chat and seldom find much in the way of current material.
I think it is easier to scroll through a single (even 300+comment) thread than to check for new entries on several strictly single topic ones. The addition of the”jump to bottom” feature was a great move, (what, 2 years ago?).

      And so, a couple OT’s:
      1) Anyone else think the entire right side of the Mets infield, especially the right handed 1b (Duda), is sub-par?
      2) And, for those worried about carpal tunnel while skipping past certain posts, try vitamin B-6. Worked for me and, according to at least one study, works for about 1/3 of the population.

      • That’s a good find, but it looks like only 10 people downloaded it, so not much testing, and it isn’t actively being developed (> 1 year since active). Also, it probably is for the default wordpress comment platform, which I dislike and don’t use. Most likely it is not compatible with my system.

  27. Saw naught but the highlights, but a few VERY light comments on the game because its been discussed in detail by people who saw more:

The black/white/black combo looked better than I thought it would, they should have put the orange beaver logo on the helmet though. As BeaverBlazer has shown, it looks best on black so the outline disappears.

Based on the comments, I am surprised at how badly the Beavers continue to tackle; whiffs, arm tackles…Noland-Lewis seems to be one of the worst. The staff seems high on him, saying he’s one of the fastest players they have. Is he over running plays?!? Does anyone else think his speed is special, like it just stands out in the game? I wish reporters would directly ask the coaches about the tackling and how they teach it.

Can we get Vine replays of Mitchell’s spin move over and over? I realize his spin move doesn’t translate to a photo as well as a hurdle photograph, but give the guy his due…and a nickname. The Spin Doctor? Better nickname than “Air Collins”….

  28. Looks like Mets manager Terry Collins will be the goat for allowing Matt Harvey to pitch the 9th. Royals blowing this open in the 12th. Series is over. No ring for Conforto. Sorry angry, I know you’re a mets fan. My team hasn’t done shit in 27 years now either

    • Collins conceded his prerogatives as a manager and will have to live it. Not that the Mets would have won a game let alone two in KC, but he’s gonna have to live with not following his instincts the rest of his life.

      • I agree it would have been tough for them to win two on the road in KC. Royals almost won this thing last year and they proved it on the field they were the better team in this series and most of the season. Tip of the cap to the Royals tonight.

        • Royals were an awesome team. Respect them so much, except I hate Moustakas. He wouldn’t shut his mouth for a second. The rest of the team is pretty awesome, though.

    • Conforto is going to be so good, the Mets will be a factor the next few seasons. You never know if you’ll ever make it back for sure, but they should have an opportunity with all the young talent they have.

    • Duda looks to me to deserve some blame. Not just his poor throw to home, but also his lack of fundamentals on pickoff attempts. I haven’t followed the team closely, so maybe tonight was just a bad sample.

        • Duda and Murphy both have zero range and so so gloves. Mets should have D replacements for both, but they didn’t.

Royals were the better team. A bunch of bulldogs on that team. Hosmer “stealing” home on Duda there was just genius/perfectly executed baseball. Ty Cobb would be proud. I wish the Mets played like that. I wish the Beavs played like that. It should be a lesson to everyone on what it takes to win.

Mets big problem in this series is the games were only 6 innings due to the Royals pen. Not going to win when you are playing a 6 vs 9 inning game. Collins killed them with some really bad decisions, too. Not just keeping Harvey in, but Addison Reed lost the closer job several times because he is not clutch, and Collins had him in there in their last inning of the season…brutal.

  29. Yes Noland-lewis runs right by people. He had a clear shot at Booker in the back field on the second drive and tried to arm tackle him. It was like a 3rd and 8, he ran for 10-12.

    • If you think about it, Noland-Lewis is the obverse of Storm. The former fails to make contact frequently and the latter is always looking for it seemingly.

      • Storm consistently runs into his lineman. The OL’s gotta be thinking “WTF – run around me or get to the outside.” At least he gets vertical now – right into the guard or the tackle. I always thought that Ward should’ve gotten the majority of the snaps. Nice to see him make the ATL roster.

        • I was a Ward fan too. In the old regime I figured Storm’s personality and easy interview style were factors in him being the featured back; still, he did have a good YPC record. He continues to say the right things but hasn’t been a consistent runner since the concussion (or near concussion).
The running into his blockers and going down at first contact drives me nuts; even worse when it takes carries away from Nall. I really don’t understand what the staff was thinking and their expanation is lame.

    • look on the bright side. beaver baseball will return in 3-1/2 months and we have mens and womens hoops to tide us over until then.

    • Hope you saw the link I posted awhile back. His mom gives Casey and staff lots of praise for their work with him…….the whole person, not just the athlete.

  30. one last off topic but the Broncos royally gave the Packers an ass kicking to remember tonight knocking them from the ranks of the unbeaten. Broncos D is ferocious and held Aaron Rodgers to a career low 77 yards passing. Exam 1 passed. Future home dates with the two other AFC unbeaten Patriots and Bengals still ahead.

  31. I also find it extremely comical that many pundits and duck fans were talking about Mariota the savior being the next Joe Montana after that week 1 performance over the lowly Buccaneers D. I said, let’s see what he can accomplish against a real NFL defense. I was called a hater. Week 2, Mariota the savior looks pedestrian. Everyone says, it’s just one game. I say, isn’t that what I said last week? Them – “you’re just a hater!”. Granted he didn’t play today but the Titans have not won since week 1.

    • The Titans also probably have one of the worst Offensive Lines, RB corps, WR corps, and head coaches in the entire NFL. He isn’t Montana but he is good, the Titans as a team are just a joke

          • Wow what a bold statement saying a guy won’t be the next greatest QB ever. If that’s the worst criticism you can come up with them I think he’ll be fine lol. Mariota has all the tools, he makes playing football look easy. The only thing that would keep him from being successful is the fact that he’s a stick and could very well be too injured to ever play a full season. You wanna talk busts? Jameis fucking Winston.

  32. Angry I think it’s fairly obvious that Jack is far and away the most obnoxious commenter on this blog. I’ve always wondered why you’ve stuck by his side through all his shit. Especially since it seems to really bother you when the threads stray off topic and Jack is easily the biggest reason for that. I mean yeah sure the occasional troll shows up and talks a little shit every now and then but Jack gums up just about EVERY thread by tirelessly playing devils advocate, many times with himself!!!

    • Agree completely. I understand why Anger doesn’t want to censor people. But having a complete Jerk like that around is so bad for the AngryBeavs brand.

      • There’s an angrybeavs brand? It doesn’t happen that often with Jack, he was trying to make a point through satire. He just did it wayy too many times. Just scroll past it like you do your facebook friends who only post about Debbie Downer shit. “Stuck in traffic…..again!”. “Little Jimmy vomited up his breakfast!”

        • There’s no point to be had. If people get some point out of it, then that’s a them thing. I just saw an opportunity to troll with what looked like an acceptable stupid humor. Yeah… I guess it was satire. But it wouldn’t work if people weren’t duplicitous. So I guess there’s that.

You can’t con an honest man.

    • I don’t stick by his side.

But when people complain about him, I just let it be known that I find many of his comments insightful. He made one of the best comments ever last week. Everyone was amazed and applauded him. Now he’s in the doghouse.

Hey, the vulva stuff was stupid and not funny, but the way I view it is grin and bear it to get to his few great comments. Jackbeav called in the Joe Beaver show once, too, and he sounded completely normal. I think several people use his account (this is what he told me, at least, when I wrote and asked wtf was up like a year ago). I never cared enough to IP check.

  33. Got a message from a recruit who had asked to have his film tweeted out last week. Up to that point, recruiting had been quiet, but within a week he said OSU had sent him mail and invited him to visit. Then after tweeting about the invite, 247 contacted him(specifically telling him the beavrecruiting the weets led them to him, then followed by rivals, and suddenly his recruiting is taking off. He wanted to thank beavrecruiting for getting it all started. Was nice of him to reach out . Wonder if blitz or 247 will?

    • That’s awesome. I wrote 247 last month and asked why they didn’t have an OSU site, and offered to write it if they do create one. They were interested. We’ll see if anything happens. I’m not sure I even have the time for it, but I wanted my name in the hat as an option.

      • The ducks 247 guy, Hopkins, sometimes writes stories on osu recruits, but really not much.

Would be cool if they handed that to you. You could get the elusive media credentials that are supposedly needed to do the job.

        • I wonder if they’d expect me to tone things down. Or, they might rule me out entirely after seeing all the ass, vulva, and cock and balls talk. I’ll probably forever remain independent, despite having the most entertaining site. I don’t see any way around it unless I change, and the odds of that are about the same as Seth Collins suddenly learning how to throw a football.

        • He looks pretty good on those first two blocks, that’s for sure. He doesn’t appear to be particularly big.

OL tape seems pretty hard to evaluate.

        • Need to know his size. His foot work is ok, that’s coachable. I don’t like that his arms come down to his sides, when he’s making initial contact on passing plays, but that is coachable also. His feet come together fast when starting a drive block, still coachable. Needs a little better vision on pull blocks, overall he’s got some potential. If I knew his height and weight it will make it easier to evaluate, but he seems fast enough and looks like he has a good frame.

          • His Nike combine numbers from June (before his junior year)

            Ht: 6′ 2.5″
            Wt: 242
            Shuttle 4.92
            PB: 35.5 (PB=kneeling powerball toss)
            Vert: 22.8

          • So he moves good, frame is good, footwork is ok, need to see a complete game to better evaluate footwork. Handwork is ok, he seems to be a little grabby, that’s OK as long as he doesn’t get caught. I don’t think he’s a tackle. He would be good inside guard or center. Definitely a center if he’s smart enough.

  34. Now that I’m off suicide watch and have been cleared to check sports blogs again( thanks for the card and letters BTW), it appears Jack’s radical lesbian personality came out. Jackette is an avowed “vagitarian” with an obsession for female gentialia. I have advised his nurse to check under his tongue when he supposedly taking his bedtime meds.

After absorbing another gut wrenching loss for the Liitle Brown Jug, can somebody please explain how coaches making 500k a year cannot know what every schmuck drinking beer in the stadium knows? 19 seconds of hell.
Anybody else wish they would get rid of replay, since they screw up the reviews about 40% of the time? Miami. Out play Michigan and lose because of clock management. MR could not have done it worse. No replay and I’m on cloud nine this week. I live in CFB hell.

    • I’m with you on the replay thing. Feels like it’s more a tool to extend games and get in more commercials, and getting the call correct is just an afterthought. With games lasting well into 4 hours now, instant replay is the first place I’d cut to make this game more watchable.

    • I have a nurse? Is she cute? Should I keep her away from that Keith Kostol character?

I had to go look up what happened in the UM v UM game. It sounds like the clock management was bad. But it also sounds like the replay call was correct. Are you saying you don’t like replay because this time it went against you? What if he had been called down at the one but replay changed it to a TD? Would it then be a good thing?

You can’t avoid the Miami replay. That was just bizarre. But I don’t feel bad for Duke fan. Now they know how the world felt when the ball went off Winslow’s hand, and the refs went to replay and still got it wrong. At least a national championship wasn’t on the line in this one.

  35. I just watched Doug Taumoelau’s video. He’s pretty big, fast and violent, I’m not sure why he isn’t even listed as a prospect on most sites. I’m not saying he should have 3 dozen offers, but the kid is clearly a prospect.

I wonder if he’s a potential LDS mission guy? Speaking of, I haven’t heard much about which of our commits or targets might be mission guys this year.

    • There was a 4 year OL for Utah who was pretty good with the same last name. Percy Taumoelau. Maybe a brother? He was a late bloomer too. He wasnt a mission guy either.

I dont think any current commits are mission guys, but i think Sione Finau will be a Beav on signing day and then go on his mission.

Also, for some reason I’m getting spam blocked when using my PC. It asks me to fill out a captcha, but then never shows me the captcha to fill in. Anybody know how to get around this?

  36. I know it’s not going to be a popular thing to say here, but my impressions of Mitchel was he is pretty dang good. I know the stats are over whelming, but he seemed to be so much more poised and in control of the offense. And that being said it was a very good defense he went up against. I’m not saying he is all world, but I definitly can see him being able to lead us to a lot of wins with continual improvement.

He seemed to scramble pretty well, and it was crazy to see him, at least appeared to know where the marker was on his scrambles and fight for that last yard. A knock on Collins is he just hasn’t seemed to be aware of those things. I can see Mitchell, with valuable experience, and a good off season, being a solid starter, and worse case a very good backup to garret son.

Just my 2 cents, I came away pretty impressed with him. Another guy who looks small, but gaining experience and strength this off season who looks to have a bright future is Jonathan Willis. He played fast and hit people, like I said he is pretty thin, but I believe he is a freshman.

I have a lot of optimisism for even the potential next season. Kind of excited to see this team grow this year still, and if we can get a big upset (uncle, uo) than I feel we can have a great deal of momentum going into the offseason. I know that seems crazy for a 3-9 record or so, but things feel pointed up.

    • I agree that things are trending in the right direction, though it doesn’t show yet in the record. Holding Utah to 27 at home, and 10 first downs in the last 3 quarters (?) was improvement.

I think the staff is finding players and roles right now (Nall, Willis), and sending some messages to the program. The recent recruiting progress on the defensive side of the ball is very encouraging, as long as the staff can hold onto them.

Agree with Angry’s point that the lack of a legitimate QB recruit – not a developmental project – is troubling. I am beginning to wonder if Andersen doesn’t have a small school mindset; “I won at Utah when we had Brian Johnson (perfect season, defeated Alabama in Sugar Bowl), I won at Utah State with ___, I don’t need a bit time QB recruit.”

While a college team doesn’t necessarily have to have a 4 or 5* QB with a rocket arm, this system is going to need two smart QBs who can throw the ball. That hasn’t been Collins so far. It sounds like there is trepidation it isn’t Moran (who will benefit from a RS, so he has time to improve)…Garretson may be smart and efficient enough.

An efficient, accurate(?) Garretson, making the right reads and handing off to Nall et al, should be a huge improvement next year.

Now that Andersen is making a connection to alumni (Jackson, Bernard, Simonton) I hope he brings in Hass/Stroughter/Rodgers/Wheaton/Cooks to inspire the WR group.

Regarding upsets this year, I feel like UCLA is a better chance than UO for some reason. In the CW I’d love to see “Nall Out War” with Nall going off for over 200 punishing yards at Autzen in a low scoring OSU victory…but I won’t expect it.

      • If you look at the composite on 247, Moran is listed as our 5th best recruit as an 85 rated 3 star. He’s thrown for 2300 yards, 66% completion percentage with 16 TD’s to 6 Ints. He’s also ran for 727 yards and 9 TD’s. 6’3″, 185 runs a 23 second 200. He might be a 4 star by the time it’s all said and done.

      • I don’t know what to expect from Garretson given his limited tape. And I worry about how the QBs are evaluated, practiced and played given what happened for the first half of the season. I have been told ad nauseum by SC fans here that Mitchell can’t run a lick. I knew this not to be true because I’ve seen his HS tape. And now I know it’s not remotely true in game situations.

But what if NM improves and shows some good play as the season progresses. What if he gets hurt, and MM does the same because SC is now in the (rumored) dog house? DOes it all go out the window next spring/fall? Do we get another “QB competition” that feels completely arbitrary?

We can win in this system. I think Jason has the right term. Stability is most important for a QB to demonstrate in order to move forward. But are the politics of the coaches in this one position allowing for any stability?

      • Agree with Angry’s point that the lack of a legitimate QB recruit.

To be fair, everybody was already off the table last year. He tried to get Austin Kafentzis, who screwed up by believing Paul Chryst would give him an honest shot at QB. They settled for what they knew was a Hail Mary with Collins. They simply didn’t have time to make inroads with many guys because nearly everybody was off the table.

This cycle, we have a solid prospect already. I’d say Moran is a high 3* prospect right now, could easily have been 4* if he hadn’t been stuck behind another D1 caliber player until this year. We did good to get him early, in my opinion. Next year, we’ve offered a high 4* guy (Tua Tagovailoa) and a low 4* guy (Avery Davis). But I bet, in fact I’d bet a lot of money, we end up with high 3* Tayler Katoa. Still, those are all three ‘Big Time’ prospects.

It sounds like there is trepidation it isn’t Moran

What trepidation? He looked bad in two games, which happened to be the game where he got stitches on his throwing hand in the first quarter and the very next game when he admitted it still bothered him. Other than that, he’s completed over 70% of his passes, over 15 yards per completion, with 16 TDs and 3 picks.

        The kid can throw.

  37. This was the best the Beavs have played this year. Mitchell was the most stable performing QB we’ve had so far. His long-ball throwing motion seems very strained like he may lack strength or maybe it’s just mechanics?
Bolden had his typical drops and head-fakes-for-no-yards jukes.
Villamin will improve as he gets more PT as will Mitchell.
I’d like to see Nall more.
I didn’t miss Collins at all.
Our D rose to the occasion more than once and looked inspired.
Overall I was very pleased with this performance.
You guys that watch a freshman play a few games and then freeze his abilities at that level for life would benefit from a more patient outlook.

  38. Have you guys watched the Bradford highlight tape on the voting website? 4:14 long, and he scores a touchdown on every single touch. Pretty impressive.

      • You are probably right. My brother has been to all but one of their home games and the fans are really pissed off at him. He called yesterday and asked if MR is on some antidepressants because he never shows any emotion LOL. They wanted the anti Pelini and they got him.

  39. Angry, or anyone else with recruiting knowledge: I saw on beav recruiting Twitter page that Andrew nemec expects us to get a recruit very soon, is it Chase Lucas? 4 star from Chandler Az(my home town shout out to the 480)? I love the kids game, legit play maker.
