Have at it.
Anyone hanging around to watch this game? I see no reason to watch, so I’m probably headed out for the weekend. If that happens, it will be the first Beaver game I’ve missed since 2009.
Here’s a poll to get a feel for fanbase sentiment.
[poll id=”8″]
Maybe. I may take my son grouse hunting depending on the weather.
I’m a maybe, too, but probably a no because let’s be honest, who wants to watch 3hrs of nonsense. Even HBO comedy specials are only an hour.
Cue the dude who claims only real fans waste 3hrs watching junk.
I have no problem watching junk for 3 hours. The more the merrier!
Real fans have a tattoo with their team mascot emblazoned on their flesh forever, so I’ve been told.
No, anyone can tattoo their own body. I convinced my non-OSU attending wife to allow me to get ‘Go Beavs’ engraved inside my wedding ring.
You’ll remember the grouse hunting. The game; probably not at all.
I will watch because otherwise I will have no business commenting about it on this forum.
Best comment on here
That might be the best comment on any forum, ever.
I watch some but while everyone else is really watching the game, I’m straight up snatchin cell phones and purses from everybody. You wonder where your iPhone 5 is? How about that Android LG? Lost a pair of Ray Bans? Hit me up I’ll swing you a deal for real.
As long as there is an Oregon State football game scheduled, I plan to watch it. May not watch the entire thing if it winds up being a blowout one way or another (especially if there are more interesting games on at the time), but I plan my Saturdays in the fall around college football. Just because the Beavers are terrible right now doesn’t mean I’m going to stop watching. Gotta enjoy the short football season while it lasts!

“Collins declined to comment for this story.”
His steely glare spoke volumes.
What happened to the slash role? Really disappointing how they have utilized him.
No kidding. That’s the one thing that bugs me most.
The O-line is what it is. Garretson has no swivel in the head, which is bad for someone who doesn’t move a pocket (or move to the new pocket). So move the pocket ourselves. One pass back with him flaring, then he hits a streaking flanker as the D runs to him. The next time he gets that toss he can fake it and run for days.
One of the reasons Petersen has succeeded up there is because he makes football fun by always scheming something fun into the plan. And his timing is just right so as to catch everyone by surprise.
Instead of taking anyone by surprise, we can weave that fun into the system and make it a threat on every play. But then you’re asking a bunch of unproven players to make high risk/reward plays.
I guess you just have to take a leap of faith as a coach to do it.
Exactly. Where’s the risk at this point in the season though? Average loss is by more than 30? No risks at all. B
Excellent name.
I’ll be watching, yelling at the tv. Not going to trudge over to Reser to stand in the rain and watch them get pounded. Will have plenty of beer and spirits on hand to make the game more enjoyable. Come to think of it, a drinking game may be in order…
Garretson starts, take a drink
New member of the Oline starts, take a drink
Blount relieves Garretson, take a drink
Bolden takes a drink, er, drops a ball, take a drink
Cal scores, take a drink
Seth hurdles someone, take a drink
Defense misses a tackle, take a drink
I think we may be at alcohol poisoning about that point.
A couple guys taking off the redshirts this week, which I guess adds a smidgen of intrigue.
For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health ….
The ucks are down the street if your looking around.
Yes i’m going and watching.
Lol
Angry you can fly out of SB with me on Friday.
Fly? That’s an easy drive.
staying the week for 2 games. All in !
that drive sucks…
Really?
Such an easy drive.
I’ll be at the game.
I think most will watch on TV because for no reason at all, we cling to some hope the team will show signs of getting better.
FOMAU: Fear of Missing an Upset.
Not as widespread as BIRG’ing or CORF’ing, but still very real.
For fans who follow the Beavs, especially through poor seasons, FOMAU is the driving factor. I’ll watch as much as I can.
I’ll be watching. Go Beavs!!
Watch out for the CLOWNS !
Watch the clowns…….FIFY.
I will watch what I can. Have a birthday party at 8 so won’t see the whole game but I am a Beaver believer for life so I will always watch if I can.
Anyone else at the tip-off dinner?
I’m going.
No fair taking off, angry. Sit your ass in front of a TV and CORF or whatever the heck it is with the rest of us :)
I’ll be doing what I did for the Colorado game: Watch the first half for sure, and if it’s not a complete blowout by the end, watch the second half.
It will interrupt our weekend tailgate for a few gours but yes, me and one of my best friends are going.
Has Jack put up the pick ’ems?
Have the results from last week been tallied?
Not that I’ve seen.
The DVR is the greatest invention of this century. Record and fast forward through timeouts, injuries, half-time. As soon as you have had enough, hit delete and move on. The only problem is to not accidentally learn the score by watching the scroll that some channels provide. I’ll be on the couch all day/evening, without watching one minute live. Easy access to bathroom and fridge. No rain. No traffic. JB
If you record the 30 min game cut up, you can finish the game inside 15 minutes.
I know. It’s awesome.

Funny fact: The only way you win money ATS or o/u (closing lines) on the Minn@PSU game is if you bet the push on both.

Beavs will beat Cal and beat Utah. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so after the fact
Sounds like you’ve had a few too many napkins :)
I think it’s good that WSN is getting some roughage from the napkins (?) but it would appear that the ratio of whiskey to napkins has gotten a bit askew. A thousand parts whiskey to one part napkin could be harmful to body parts.
I don’t understand.
Do say you told us so after the fact?
I like your attitude.
This suggests otherwise: http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2016/10/cal_golden_bears_qa.html#incart_river_index
Because its an evening game, I may watch one or two quarters and see how they do. I really am expecting Cal to just throw all over them after seeing CU torch them. I know OSU had some people in the nickel they haven’t had before, but still…
Also, Cal’s RB is returning, and they are making use of their FB; who sounds like their version of Aydon, but more athletic. The Beavers don’t seem to tackle consistently well, so it could get ugly:
http://www.calbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=7174
But I like your attitude and would of course enjoy an upset.
Wait, is that o-live article about Cal or the Ducks? I can’t tell from the uniform.
DVR after I know the score. Better for my health.
It’s funny (or maybe bitterly ironic), but when I lived in Utah pre-P12 network days, I could watch almost every Beav game on some channel each Saturday. Now since I don’t have the P-12 Network, I miss my share of games if I’m not close to a computer and can’t get in touch with my Ukranian friends. The P-12 network is a shitfest in my opinion. It’s actually given me less access to the Beavs.
Man up angrybeav nation. I will be at the tailgating lot at 7AM preparing to bring the pig, Floyd of Rosedale, back home. Post game tailgating and then unpack, grab an Oregon beer and cheer on da Beavs from the sofa. Keep hope alive!
I’m going to the game. I usually go once a year while the weather is still sunny, although just hoping for no rain this year.
I enjoy tailgating with friends and family with a few nice IPAs and DIPAs, then strolling through campus before hitting the stadium.
After the CO game, I have very low expectations for the game itself, but it shouldn’t be worse than the beatdown I witnessed last year vs the Fuskies… wow, that 1st half was just brutal.
Since it looks like we’re looking at a 1 win season, I’d like to point out that in my 4 year OSU stint, I suffered through 3 of those seasons, thanks to Kragthorpe and Pettibone (twice).
Not sure if it’s been brought up, but our last 1 win season was thanks to the amazing Pettiboner back in 1995, the 3rd of his 6 years. Lone win coming against Idaho.
Thank you for acknowledging my coaching awesomeness. I was happy to provide the thrill of a lifetime with that epic win over Idaho. I will be sending you an autographed picture.
PS: There is a $75.00 shipping and handling charge.
PSS: You misspelled my name.
Regarding the 1995 season, that defense gave up only 237 points in an 11 game season and were competitve in damn near every game. I think Rocky Long was the DC, but I’m not sure.
Unfortunately, that was the nadir of PB’s “flexbone” ineffectiveness as the offense average about 13 pts a game. If this year is a one win season, it will be nothing like the 1995 season which the Beavs lost games, by scores like 12-10, 13-12, 14-9 and 20-11.

What do people think of this?
Seems obvious we’re missing Coach Bigelow when it comes to the graphic design work our team puts out.
They’re basically just cut/pasting different heads on the same body for every player. Big drop off in quality from last year in my opinion. Maybe they did a poll and found that players like waterfalls?
https://twitter.com/BeavRecruiting/status/784132500566208512
Holy sh*t that is bad stuff. Embarrassing.
Looks like Wahkeena.
Do they choose Wahkeena because trail #420 is on that loop?
I’m going with Proxy Falls, off the McKenzie.
Such a random backdrop for so many reasons. I think I’d be freaked out if I saw a football player in full gear while out hiking in the woods.
I can’t wait for the Smith Rock edit. It’s gonna be sweet
Meant to link a picture of Proxy Falls. That fallen tree seems to be the same…
https://christinabelasco.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/img_9580.jpg
Showing players dangling precariously at Smith Rock would be apropos of the program
Holy crap! They did make a Smith Rock one…..
http://i64.tinypic.com/2afn87r.jpg
Is it a guessing game for the players to decipher?
Fairy Falls?
http://www.oregonhikers.org/w/images/thumb/d/d3/FairyFalls1.jpg/300px-FairyFalls1.jpg
That’s up from Wahkeena. I think NB is correct that it’s Proxy. The flow and rocks look right. I haven’t stopped there in years.
That has to be a joke, somebody is punking him. There is no way a professional organization would put out something like that. Oh wait…never mind.
Don’t worry, everybody gets one…..

That should make them feel special. WTF? Why wouldn’t they at least use Reser Stadium as the background?
Good grief these are terrible…
PHIL STEELE REPORT:
California (Offense: 24 / Defense: 76 / Special Teams: 91) – Game Grade Average 89.7 (#37)

Colorado (Offense: 112 / Defense: 92 / Special Teams: 29) – Game Grade Average 70.9 (#104)
Projected Final Record: 1-11
Oregon State has won 12 of the L/17 meetings, but California has won back-to-back meetings. The Golden Bears are +66 ypg vs my #15 toughest schedule, while the Beavers are -118 ypg vs my #51 toughest slate. California is averaging 548 ypg & is #11 in the nation on offense averaging 157 ypg more than their opponents allow & Oregon State has allowed 538 ypg their last 2 games and my computer is projecting the Bears to finish with 548 yards here. California QB Webb has an excellent 22-6 ratio & completed 63% with a 4-1 ratio last week against my #9 ranked pass efficiency defense & he will be going against my #19 ranked unit this week, so he
shouldn’t have any issues. I’ll call for California to win their 3rd straight in this series.
