  1. 2 minutes ago, per eggers: Mountain West Conference officials will work today’s game between @BeaverFootball and Colorado State at CSU Stadium

Greg Street we get after all!

    • He had a wide open 10 yard pass to Bradford on that play as the CSU defender subbed in late and didnt evem know his assignment. No need for deep ball there

  2. Luton made 3 nice throws in a row. The Villy, Togia, and busted coverage (easy one), with good decisions on all 3. Good sign. Hope those atrocious early throws were jitters.

    • Seems like they are giving them entire drives. Might be good because it lets them get in a rhythm instead of taking them on and off the field constantly.

  3. The coaching staff has to do a better job recruiting hogs. In the last couple of years they’ve missed on a couple of JC kids who would have made a huge difference, especially on the D

  4. CSU looks like the team with the super deep stable of running backs. The O-line is so important to a good run game. CSU is getting 5+ yard gains at will with their OL push.
They’re using the run game to set up the pass while we’re trying to do the opposite.

  5. What’s interesting is our run game stinks so far (3.2) when people thought it would be all world, and Luton has been good short/intermediate and atrocious long, yet we signed him for the vertical passing game. I’m not down on anyone yet. Just making notes.

  6. Need to get the run game going this drive. Luton is making enough dumb decisions that he will turn it over soon if the run game doesn’t get going.

    • Should have been 4 down territory there.. run the ball
On 3rd and 4th down if necessary same result as a missed 52 yard we and even if he makes it big whoop.

  7. Everyone turns so easy. Hawkins dropped a td which was a great playcall. Togiai had one they got screwed out of. Luton is settling in and made a great play on what should have been a td. Hopefully the d can figure it out. I dont understand using just two dl if were having trouble stopping the run.

  8. The make up call by the officials is one thing, but what is McGiven thinking?? Not one two back set, by my count.
49 plays by the Beavs O, how many rushes?

  9. My halftime takeaways:

    – Luton looks good, but CSU it noted for awful secondary play, and he got away with a few INTs. So we’ll see. I think he’s looking good and has a quicker release than McM. Definitely see the “gunslinger” mentality, and I’m not a fan of that style.

    – D has gotten pressure at times, but can’t stop the run and get killed on quick hitters.

    – Coaching staff has cost us 7 to 10 points. Granted, nothing is a given and we don’t know how things turn out if they call it right, but odds are we’d have more points where it not for some atrocious play calling.

    – We look like a real football team. Yeah, D is porous, but scheme wise, body types, etc. Offense looks promising.

    – Tyner is super fast…I’d like to see him in space. A screen or something to get him in space.

    – Whereas at the start I felt this game was 50/50 and gave CSU the slight lean, I now feel strongly the Beavs will lose. Going to get more gassed as this goes on. Only hope is to get turnovers, but I feel Luton will turn it over.

  10. PAC-12 cannot afford to go down to the MWC. This will be a first serious blemish against GA if the team can’t pull out the W.

  11. A few more notes:

    – Villy looks good. Leaner and faster and is actually catching the ball!

    – Would like to see less passing and more RB rotation.

  12. Yes, more RB rotation.

Also, recall in third quarter of CW felt like UO was going to take over, OSU ran the ball. Do it again..

  13. Game Over. WTF running Tyler before Tyner or Johnson who averaged 6 yards a carrtmy last year at TCU? Tyler needs to grow some sea legs first on special teams. Tyner has only had a couple touches. Johnson looked decent on his 1 or 2 touches. Andersen leaving me unfulfilled right now. Team must score 7 this drive or it is over.

  14. Yeah running McM out of town was a great idea. Those boring game managers vs these guys who can throw the deep ball (to the other team)

  15. If we win 5 or less games this season, which is very likely, I’m off the GA wagon. He’s had 3 years to get his guys and this is what we do? Luton is average at qb, defense is still horrible. And we still lose to teams we should beat. Smh

    • By his own words two days before GameDay Andersen said “I’m over it.” Seems lackadaisical to me. 5 wins is minimum to think he ever gets to 8+ in next 3 or 4 years. That’s asking for a ton of patience. GA should br showing more signs and taking advantage in a game like this.

Now seeing 4 wins only as very likely this year and that isn’t good enough.

  16. coaching shit the bed. Luton missed some golden opportunities early and missed wildly in the third. Bad play calling IMHO offensively and just as lame adjusting defensively.

  17. This was a pivotal games for the Beavs. Even if a miracle happens and Beavs win this will be a long ugly season with this defense.

  18. Out coached and out played in this one..notice CSU just going back to the well on several plays in offense. Gonna be another long year

  19. Imo Luton needs game time so I’d leave him in and I’d have the QB coach coaching the hell out of him between series. Oh wait,,,,, the QB coach is….. Oh, well..

  20. I think next year is the actual make or break year for Andersen. This year pressure will build and many fans will jump off the train though.

It sucks to watch but unless they completely implode (which doesn’t seem like what’s happening) I don’t think a 4 win season would be the end for him.

  21. It’s a shame we don’t have a single offensive set with the QB under center in obvious run plays that can mak all the difference

  22. At this rate we will never get a new stadium, and I can’t even be mad because I won’t donate either with this crappy product.

  23. After all the hype about the “stable of running backs” I am wondering where all the horses are. Silly thing to remember but I do; Tim Cook having a remarkable game and Andersen not using him at all afterwards.

  24. Beavs can’t get a stop when they need it. Results in CSU TD. DB had fine position just didn’t fight had enough to get his hands in the way of the catch. Makes his position worthless if not going to use it. Stop them on that one deep pass and Beavs had a chance. Now stays Game Over.

GA and staff better take a long look in the mirror or they could lose fans fairly quick. Not a good time to be struggling. Fans were told Year 3 was when it would turn.

  25. Another turnover. Jim Tressel anyone? Looking like Matt Rhule would have been the better hire. GA not putting up enough in the win column. Moving this game up turned a likely win into a game we were more likely to lose. Having a Bye before the likes of Stanford or Washington makes no difference. Don’t see the big culture change GA speaks of. Body language looks like late Riley years to me.

  26. To be honest, if CSU was picked as a final four team, then is this loss really that bad. I mean, you guys weren’t expecting the Beavs to go to the Rose Bowl this year were you? We need to come to the realization that we have a 5 win team here and deal with it. After all, we still don’t have an airport.

  27. Fire gary. what a tool, he destroyed out team and can’t build it back up, what a knuckle head, and i was actually one of his supporters. Time to rebuild again…… Gary just wasted 3 years of OSU football, hopefully he isn’t given a 4th.

  28. Not a good day for Beavs. CSU hanging 50 on the Beavs is going to take some time to recover from. If this were week 4 when it was scheduled, do they put 70 on us? Yikes.
Luton started jittery, settled in, then threw away the game. I’m not giving up, but the defense looks overmatched and unable to get any pressure.

  29. Luton has had a few bad throws and the Oline has not gotten a lot of push for the run game. With that being said this D was suppose to be much improved and the fact is we are looking at a GIANT shit show again this season. It has been a sive from the opening quarter. Luton’s INTs does not change the fact that this D is brutal.

  30. Starting a tally on how many yards Calvin Tyler throws away this year by running it out of the endzone. Already at 25 yards and counting. Should be several hundred lost yards by the end of the season.

  31. I’ve seen green jersies in the OSU offensive backfield all too often today. Hitting runners before they’re out of the backfield and putting pressure on Luton all too often.

  32. GA fell in love with using his new “weapon”, the passing game. Just bad coaching. Didn’t run when that’s and TE were the advantages.

Yeah, the D stunk, but I expected a gassed D with that travel time and altitude. I had them giving up 34 (that’s a lot of points and expectation of bad D). Would have been around that without all the TOs. They stunk but the O didn’t help them in the point column.

  33. CSU up to 58 points and just walked into the endzone. Andersen is embarassing the Pac-12.

How much you want to bet Tyler runs it out again if not 5+ yards deep? A 1sr grader could make a rule..If in the endzone don’t run it out. If not in, then run for your life.

Why is GA and staff so stupid? Now up to 30 yards thrown away by running it out of the endzone.

  34. So, a Mtn West O-line with THREE NEW STARTERS manhandles the Beavs Defensive front. What can we expect over the next few weeks…………regardless of altitude.

  35. Another interception! Let’s get them out of his system before the next game. Maybe a game manager is preferable to a gunslinger. Ugh

Review the long list of non conference beatdowns on big stage since 2000:
    Louisville
    Cinncinati
    Boise St
    Penn St
    Minnesota
    Sac St
    Eastern Washington
    Wisconsin
    Michigan
    Colorado St

Unbeleivably each of these teams was on the rise as they play Beavs. And Beavs lay down as if on cue and allow it to happen. This is the worst part of being a Beaver fan. Riley and DeCarolis created a reason to play these games and now it has become part of the OSU psyche to get thumped according to script every fall by teams that are needing a big non conference win to make their name nationally. I thought GA was a differnce maker, but maybe it is still too soon.

58-27 is unexcusable. It doesn’t help that the d-line was a man down most of the game but that is no excuse. OC cost the momentum of the first half by calling plays to lean towards Luton rather than a long view of the game that relied on wearing out the Ram defense by running heavily. Time of possession should be a priority for the Beavs and it was an afterthought. The sequence in the 2nd when they ended up missing the fg was pivotal and should have been a td if you keep running and play with much more attitude. OC lacks the attitude, GA needs to address it asap.
