OT: Gov’t Mule last night in Bend was quite epic, IMO.
They’re much better live than their studio tracks. I went just to hear Haynes, and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve seen him live a couple times, and I’m never disappointed. He explores some funky blues and jazz progressions.
To clarify: I didn’t go to this show. I should have said I’ve gone to their concerts in the past just to….
From previous thread:
http://scout.com/college/oregon-state/Season/2018-Football/ScholarshipDistribution
According to scout, our total scholarship list is only about 70-74 while others have anywhere between 88-109 not including guys getting recruited.
It reminds me of Riley’s last couple of years recruiting.
Scout is off on this count. DG wasn’t listed at QB so I’m sure there are others missing too.
Beavers4life, use this link. The full Roster as of Aug 23rd is there with a Y/N indicator to show scholarship players. It’s not 100% perfect since status of a few guys has changed since then (Bailey retired for one, i dont have time to verify the rest)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1L-xme0mUO_9gf96CIO3BhN1EaxmD7yosVCu4J47lN0E/edit?usp=drivesdk
If they were correct, it would explain why we’re only competitive against FCS schools.
Isn’t it amazing how Riley’s become a serial career-killer ever since going Corn?
Hank Hughes (Defensive Line Coach) – fired
Mark Banker (Defensive Coordinator…technically) – sacked
Bruce Read (Speshul Teams Coach) – booted
Shawn Eichorst (Athletic Directing Moron) – directed out the door
I bet Cav and Langs are next. It’s like a horror flick with people falling one by one, as the murderer stares blankly off into the distance chewing his gum.
Golly!
I wonder if some of those guys are pissed that Riley dragged them to a school that has high expectations.
How could they not understand that going in to it? I would guess these numbnuts are getting decent severance. Like I said before, one of the most bizarre miracles of the modern college football era. Riley goes from the hot seat at OSU to a job with Nebraska.
I doubt it was perceived that way outside of OSU. Everyone else thought Riley was an amazing coach because he had some winning seasons at OSU. They figured he could be at the Nick Saban level at school like Nebraska. Fools.
Someone at Benny’s House totally ripped off my post word for word. Cheesy weasel!
Meh… very few could defend their status beyond being a position coach. We’re seeing the same thing now. I don’t know why anyone would get on GA for asking Coach K to step up but understanding when he gets shot down. I believe Coach K can be a great DC. He doesn’t think he’s ready. I defer to him. But you have to ask.
However, some head coaches lose a great DC then turn to their DB newbie and say, “Are you ready?” And I’m loathe to respect that DB newbie if he were to accept that challenge unprepared.
But I can’t blame him for taking advantage of the situation. Can I?
There are position coaches who are born head coaches. There are head coaches who are born coordinators. There are coordinators who are born position coaches.
We’ve seen all of them in the last five years.
OT. Jordan Poyer off to an impressive start:
”
The Oregonian/OregonLive
Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer is leading a revival of the defense and being mentioned as one of the best free agent signings in 2017.
The former Oregon State star is tied for the team lead in sacks with two, is third in tackles with 14 and has one of the team’s two interceptions. Poyer six passes defended is second in the NFL and he posted 11 tackles (seven solo), one sack and three passes defensed in the 9-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. ”
And has a 4-year, $13M contract…
To put that into perspective: he is the #1 DB in the NFL for fantasy points scored through two weeks. IDP leagues, in which you select individual defensive players, award points for tackles, sacks, forced fumbles, interceptions, etc.
And that doesn’t even reward you for TFL or passes defensed! These are incredibly impressive numbers.
Does Jordan Poyer want to coach at OSU when he is done? Oh and become a major donor and finsh the west side of the stadium. We can change the name to Poyer Stadium.
There could be a Poyer Foyer
Pass the Poyer, mahalo.
NiceBeaver had a comment in the last thread about CTE and the potential relationship to steroid use.
I think that even if steroids don’t have a direct connection to CTE, they have an indirect connection in that they’re making players bigger, faster, and stronger; and thus making their tackles and hits more brutal. I think a serious crackdown on steroids would be a huge win for player safety, even without a direct link to CTE or other health issues.
Related: I talked to a guy whose HS buddy went to USC a few years back. He said the vast majority of the team was juicing, and the only guys who weren’t were the handful of guys that were just so strong/athletic that they didn’t need to. This is USC, mind you, where you don’t get an offer if you’re not an elite athlete. Bottom line: everyone is doing it.
That’s how Champ Flemings got to 150 lbs….
There’s still a lot of study that needs to be done on that.
“College Coaches and Administrators United Against Rileyitis… the great killer of careers”
College coaches all across America on Saturday, September 23, will chew gum the entire game to eradicate Rileyitis. Rileyitis results in an abrupt ending to an otherwise promising or in many cases entirely mediocre college coaching career. Side effects include being stranded in the middle of no where with little or no opportunity. Early symptoms are being thrown overboard or under a bus.
Match the Head Coach to their win-loss record (first 3 years at a school):
Mack Brown 10-27
Bill Snyder 8-25
Mike Macintyre 13-20
Kirk Ferentz 11-24
GA will lap the field at this rate! So will he be great next year or at home playing fetch with his Great Danes in his big Boy Pants?
I still think he’ll prove you wrong. Nobody can say all the right things like he does without believing them in some way. The mystifying part is the disconnect between what he says and what happens on the field.
If the team even remotely walks the talk, they will look like the just-above-.500 team we have realistic expectations to see.
They have yet to do this.
This summer after Mike has been shit canned, will GA hit the gas and run Riley over on his way to work when Smilin’ is back in town and biking furiously around the streets of Corvallis chomping his gum and flashing that demented smile?
Hahaha fuck yeah! GA will run his ass over!
>Smilin’ is back in town
Why would he come back? He hates Corvallis.
over the last 4 games, we have allowed (on average) nearly 20 points off turnovers…
that can be fixed…
Like a male dog at the vet….
In his third year at Utah State, CGA (with the help of Robert Turbin and Chuckie Keeton on O & Bobby Wagner on D) started the season 1-3… and went on to win 6 of the next 8 regular season games…
This ain’t Utah State.
I did not know that – thanks for the clarification!
You are welcome.
Or the Mountain West…
With the way both our lines have played, no push on either side…. I have hard time believing our team could win 6 of 8 in the Mountain West let alone in the PAC 12…. just as worrisome or more so is our lack of ability to recruit for 18…. missing on some in state talent will always occur but 0 for 10 on in state 4 stars…. that is scary…. hopefully we get some stuff turned around…..
I’m not convinced GA and this staff are capable of developing players or getting the best out of them. This talk of chemistry -or lack thereof – seems to me to come from the players not believing in the coaches.
link?
Oh FFS!
This has become a circle jerk.
I did not know that – thanks for the clarification!
At it wasn’t the MWC when he was at Utah State either, it was a watered down WAC post the good teams created the MWC.
Watching the Boise state and Virginia game, it feels like every team aside from OSU can find a QB that can make the quick decisions and throws. How can the OSU coaches be so ineffective in noticing QB talent?
We’ve wasted scholarships on Blount, Moran, and maybe even Willard now. It looks like Petra’s is the first recruit that might be the real deal (if he keeps his pledge and the play calling isn’t atrocious).
I also wonder if anyone is putting pressure on GA and his staff. I wish reporters would call out the difference between what GA Said he was gonna do (run more) and what actually happened (pass more) and the disconnect between that in all 4 games. Nobody’s willing to put their neck on the line.
The same thought went through my mind…. even Cozart Boise States backup who transferred as a grad transfer from Kansas and knew he was going as a back up sure looked like he would be a sure starter at OSU. Quick delivery, burns people with his legs, and knows what he is going to do in a given situation…. what did Gary say he looked for in a qb “someone who could beat the opponent with arm legs and mind….. he is sitting on the blue turf as a back up.
Our offense would be scary good with Boise state’s backup QB! Lethal
I’m not sure we would be lethal but my point is….their backup is better than anyone we can field….
Or he would exhibit that which is taught to him by his position coach and his OC Then he would get to visit the various hospitals near Pac 12 venues.
I don’t see what you see.
But okay.
You got a link on where/when CGA said “he was gonna do (run more)”?
Probably not because this is what he said at the beginning of the season:
Andersen identified two areas where the Beavers must improve dramatically in order to exceed outside expectations — run defense and passing offense.
“If we don’t see progress in both of those places, we’ll see the same results,” Andersen said.
Link:
http://registerguard.com/rg/sports/35871247-81/pac-12-preview-osu-seeks-road-to-football-success.html.csp
Keep making stuff up… it’s fun!
On the offense’s development:
“We still want to be a 60-40 team (running the ball versus throwing the ball)”
https://articles.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2017/08/gary_andersen_calls_for_oregon.amp
• With a full complement of able running backs, Andersen believes the run game will continue to be the Beavers’ bread-and butter.
“We always want to be 60-40 to the run, but that’s gauged to the defenses,” the OSU mentor says.
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/371772-255147-biggest-challenge-for-osus-andersen
I guess he hasn’t actually said I’ going to run it 60/40 but he says in his ideal is that and that running is his staple.
IMO he needs to stop worrying about the explosive plays and just have the offense focus on moving the chains and what they JNOW how to do. Developing the passing game as he goes along.
Nice try, from the same link:
“But when you’re a spread team the way we’re a spread team and (an opponent) lines up and says, ‘Hey, we are going to 100 percent (put two extra defenders) in the box here,’ and do a good job with that, then there should be some coverage scenarios that you can take advantage of.”
Against a non-spread team, those defenders are not “extra.” Eight in the box means there’s one extra. It has nothing to do with what kind of offense you run. If he’s saying they put nine in the box, then I don’t see what he sees.
You made that up!
Really?
Not able to read huh?
However, I believe we discarded a loose string that might be unraveling the whole cloth.
That failure is apparent now.
Why don’t you go back to educk and cheer on your team?
Hi.
I’m Jack.
Nice to meet you.
There’s a charm:
Nice try, from the same link:
“But when you’re a spread team the way we’re a spread team and (an opponent) lines up and says, ‘Hey, we are going to 100 percent (put two extra defenders) in the box here,’ and do a good job with that, then there should be some coverage scenarios that you can take advantage of.”
*three’s?
Yeah, that too :)
Probably a pretty accurate assessment by GA too. Unfortunately, they are giving up over 300 yards per game compared to a little over 200 yards per game last year. The passing offense has improved by about 40 yards per game.
Don’t let the numbers get it the way. Seven in the box is two too many.
… two too many to what?
tango
You knew it, I said it.
Go beavers!
Wow!
SEC refs more than suck.
If anyone’s watching tOSU and UNLV right now, I fear this is a preview of our game next year.
Whatever.
I can imagine Urban going to the TV booth for the game and wondering aloud, “What is this coach doing?”
Wait… I don’t have to imagine that.
Unless Oregon State gets lots of money for the Ohio State game, I believe they should cancel now.
That isn’t going to happen. That being said if anyone is considering going, do it. It is really awesome.
It’s what college football should be.
If only the NCAA would sanction a certain post-season event that included conference champs and a couple wild-cards. FBS football might become compelling again.
Not sure if I should watch football today, or watch our president call out professional athletes all day. So far, he’s “uninvited” Steoh Curry from visiting the White House (even though Curry declined the invite first) and now he says “get that son of a bitch off the field” referring to Colin Kapernick. It was at a rally in Alabama, for his national anthem protests (is he even playing for anybody?)
There must be more important news happening that he’s trying to distract the fake news from covering.
This is going to turn into an all out athletes vs potus twitter war any moment.
This isn’t football. I watched better high school games as a kid.
This is an amalgam of bad Ds, refs and Os.
This game used to be worth the 15 minutes of action.
Maybe I’ll watch Beau Baldwin’s Cal offense beat USC. :(
… and then watch Sam Darnold beat Justin Wilcox’s D.
I will be watching the Riley slow walk to the gallows. If they lose to Rutgers, he may need to go into the witness protection program.
They won’t lose to Rutgers.
We wouldn’t lose to Rutgers.
That being said, there’s a reason you have to play the game before you can call it.
Rutgers played ok vs washington.
You never know with a Mike Riley team
If Nebby has their line backing up in pass pro all day, you never know.
But I’m pretty sure the first words out of the interim AD’s mouth were, “Just run the damn ball.”
Neb off to a typical Riley start.
Gum chewing up to 3300 rpm.
5500 rpm.
Anybody have a link for nebraska/rutgers? I think I need to see the meltdown happen live
OT Amy is two and two after last weeks lose to Ohio state university and then this week they lost to Tulane while being up until less then 1:00 min to play. But they are the #3 team in rushing in the nation with 6.4 yards per carry
Great blocking by Navy.
Go Navy!
yep 7 to 7 against a bearcat team. Didn’t the Beavers lose to the Bearcats like 6 years ago?
oh make that up 14-7 so you can pass the ball too? Good TD Navy
The Cincy home and home was when Kelly was still coaching there.
We lost a better game in the home part of that one.
TD Navy 21-10
a 1-1 Air Force is going up against a 3-0 SDU that beat Sanford.
Navy wins 42- 32
Navy just amazes me. They’re so undersized and run an ancient offense, but they look so good.
Georgia Tech is the same with all it’s triple option
Still feeling good this team will find some traction and grind out a few wins down the stretch. Match up well against the rest of the schedule
They do?
You must be watching a different team, you sure you aren’t watching tapes of games from 2012?
Wilcox calls a fullback blast on 3rd and 1 and converts. McGiven would probably call verticals.
Only 6 minutes in but Cal looks pretty darn good against USC….: plenty of time for them to crap the bed but so far they look darn good
You set a low bar for good.
Well jack let’s put it another way…. a game that many people had as a sure win for the Beavers before the season now looks like a sure butt kicking…. their first year coaching crew has them looking head and shoulders better than our team.
You didn’t say that.
Regardless, they suck. Surprisingly, Darnold is also sucking.
So it’s pretty much a suck fest right now.
So it follows that if you didn’t say that, you can’t say something completely different then conflate the two.
At some point, you have to admit that we could call that play and lose two yards.
We can call any play and lose two yards. Some plays, I wish that was the result.
Greg McElroy on the correct call of clipping against USC:
“He’s not engaged with anyone when he gets blocked. I’m going to have to disagree with the refs on that one.”
Put that Bama education to work, big boy!
Watching Cal makes me sad. How did OSU get conned by Andersen so badly?
GA is a good talker/salesman, and he’s the exact opposite of what we had in Riley. Not gonna lie, he had me believing in his vision. But that vision has no substance, nothing has happened, and it is just talk.
I wanted to believe as well.
I guess their punter is decent.
That major hold by #53 on the edge would have been called on us… or in the game of football.
They are sporting the Chuck Muncie era uni’s.
Yeah… they just skipped over their Webfoots unis.
Wasn’t Cal a “Bear Raid” type of offense under Dykes? They’re playing a physical run game, running it 10 times on the last TD drive against USC. 10-3 Cal.
Just boggles my mind that OSU can’t find a way to run the ball.
Didn’t Sonny Dykes always recruit well to Cal?
According to recruiting services, or according to what he needed on the roster to compete with P5 football?
I’d say the latter completely sucks.
Rutgers up 10-7 on the Rileys. 10 min to half
Lee already chucked an INT and almost another.
Lee just now threw a pick six Rutgers on top 17-14.
They need to pull Lee. This is bad for the first couple games of the year against decent Ds. But he’s not progressing.
But Riley is stubborn, he wont pull his QB.
It’s that complex pro style playbook. I’m imagine how great he’ll be 3 years from now.
lol
Cal gets lucky with a great catch on a terrible throw. Then they get a wide open look… plus an extra yard on the spot.
I guess USC’s time-out worked on the replay.
That was smart.
Shit, forget about the season Riley might not survive the weekend. Lee just threw another pick 6, Rutgers 17-14 3rd quarter.
Riley is getting a bunch of air time.
Did he run out of gum to chew?
Lee chucks another pick six for MR. He is on a record setting pace.
Rutgers is daring Lee to throw, the same Lee who ran out on the field wearing a Nebby uni and got booed by the Nebby faithful.
LOL, my brother was blabbing on in August about how Lee was so awesome that he would only play one year before bolting to the NFL!
In the 80s, a Nebraska football team who took the time to get chippy with Rutgers would be the equivalent of the greatest nation on earth picking a fight with North Korea.
Yeah… you’re showing us who’s boss.
Oooh!
If anyone wants to really burn a Nebby fan, just ask them what they think Oklahoma’s record would be if they had the same schedule to date.
For a lesser effect, you can use Colorado.
Riley just ran a 3rd and 1 play that I have never seen him run before. It was an old Schembechler play plus some useless motion stuff.
Where was that when he was here?
Where was that last week?
I know this information may be buried in the other thread but, did the league office look into that targeting call on Luton? Seemed to me that the guy should have been suspended. IRC they can call it targeting later in the week and add the suspension.
Again.. it was a clean hit. Please re-watch it.
Yes, it was a bang bang football play.
Once the defender launches himself with the crown of his helmet down, it no longer matters what contact is made.
Wait… I mean once the QB gives himself up, the D can’t get called for targeting.
You guys realize tape of this play exists, no?
If you think a cheap shot isn’t a cheap shot, then maybe we don’t think of sports in the same way.
It’s a legal hit because the QB is not giving himself up. He’s a runner, going down in a forward direction and fighting for yards. Thus he is not a defenseless player, thus the targeting rules (leading with the crown of the helmet; leaving your feet) don’t apply. To be a defenseless player he would need to be sliding, feet first.
That said, it still looks a little dirty to me. Like they (successfully) took advantage of an opportunity to lay a big hit on him.
Nebby 21-17 now, Rutgers had all kinds of chances to stop them, but penalties did them in on the Husker drive.
Rutgers would have made us look good two years ago.
I hadn’t thought of this since I was watching Riley coach OSU.
By looking at wherever Riley is on the sideline and what he’s looking at, you can guess with 95% certainty what the play will be.
NU is starting to dominate on the ground as they should. Looks like Bike will have a week with some of the heat off for now. He’s still getting fired at the end of the season.
They didn’t make the line to gain on that play, but whatever.
That was a weird spot and the announcers were very casual about it. The dude working with Mason seems to have a hard on for NU, not sure who he is.
Almost a Riley moment, NU fumbles on the Rutgers 10, but recovers it.
It’s like every time I switch to a college football game, I get to see a highlight where the guy they’re praising is doing something illegal. And then I get to watch the refs run from out of picture to the right of my screen to spot the ball a yard beyond where it landed.
I’ve seen a lot of the latter in recent years. It just blows my mind.
In case you’re wondering, it is always from the right of screen. I thought it would be equally bad from both sides. But, albeit an unofficial tally, it turns out refs mark it a yard to the left as the TV views the field. I first noticed this in the Wazzu game two years ago. They got some egregious spots.
*the bad refs mark it…
noticed the same thing in the CSU game…
Rutgers is putting 10 in the box. Why is Nebby running the ball?
That they’re gaining ground is irrelevant… I am told.
… by the hair of his chinny chin chin.
You want Lee throwing the ball? I guess he can add to his nation leading interception total.
Kinda the point.
You’re bigeer and better than they are on paper. The only place that will show is in the box.
Avoiding the box is admitting defeat.
It’s like Nebby couldn’t take control of the game until they absolutely knew for certain their QB couldn’t throw for shit.
Then they shut it down and won.
Go figure.
That might work against Illinois also and then they are shit out of luck.
I didn’t have the good fortune to watch Illinois today… or in the last ten years.
So I defer to your wisdom.
I expected at least a “that’s what she said” out of that one.
What happened in the USC/Cal game? I was caught up in Navy and an occasional Nebby flip.
Oooh!
nm
a (fumbled/int) in the red zone changed this game
It looks like it only changed the score.
Hip Hip!
replacement?
Is Wazzu wearing fucked up colors because Arky wore their regular unis earlier in the day?
It looks a little like running old-timey black and white footage against a color background… except it’s not.
Golly Harbaugh!
Purdue just put 10 in the box.
Why did you run off-guard for a TD?
You could have passed the ball.
Purdue did play a decent game, for Purdue. If they keep trying to take on bigger foes straight up, they will eventually become their foes. It’s an honorable loss given their status at the moment.
Purdue’s O-line is deficient inside. Do they have no depth?
PU’s o line has almost no depth, as is the case with most of the other areas. It was good for 3 quarters and fun to watch. Questionable targeting calls against Purdue. Stay tuned for a beat down against Minny.
Which way? Brohm was a great hire for Purdue.
The B1G has a lot of upside in coaching. I think the money involved has kept them in the BCS/play-off thingy. The Big 12 (not nine or eight or maybe ten) had a couple teams (Okie or oSu) who could have beaten anyone on any given day.
But let’s let the market decide.
I don’t even question targeting any more. If you were called, you’re guilty. The parameters are fairly set. Kids make mistakes. It’s not personal unless a team has an abundance of them.
Purdue was just over-matched in the trenches. But they fought in those same trenches as late as garbage time. I would be happy with that from my own team.
Those helmets… dude!
And I don’t get the polished brass domes. That just screams builder grade to me.
Iowa:
Looks like the Steelers; plays like the Beavs… if the Beavs would have gone to the Rose Bowl in this millennium.
Wait… Hayden Fry isn’t the coach there any more?
This PSU/Iowa game is actually some decent football.
I take that back.
This PSU RB is next level.
And then PSU goes shotgun and can’t get the ball to him in a position he can win.
I am so sick of this mediocre football shit.
Give the ball to your guy. Watch your guy run over your O-line. Score points.
-or-
Take shotgun snaps on goal-line situations because you need an extra four yards to try to run into the end zone.
we’re getting sick of your mediocre reporting on ‘this mediocre football shit’…
Dood ease up, give your wife and kids some time….
Kids have their own families, and the wife is in New York.
I can sit here on the porch and flash the dogs if I want.
Mmmm… flashing.
I think PSU is over rated due to Barkley. He is the real deal, however. I also hate the shotgun running.
Barkley is for sure real.
That kid is nice.
… and under-utilized.
It’s weird it takes a program less time to recover from child molestation than Mike Riley/just being Corvallis.
Um… no.
If I was leading the charge against them, I would wave pics of Anthony Wiener at every game.
They do have the best away unis college football. There’s one plus for Nike.
thanks for the new thread, guys. been visiting family in san diego since thursday.
So you missed GA’s resignation and Banker’s appointment as interim HC?
The highlight for me was when he hand-jived at the introductory press conference and then winked at the camera.
You bastard. Heart just raced.
I’m excited to see what Langsdorf can do in his second stint as OC
*third
*Turd
I would say fair enough, but that’s redundant.
Golly!
Let’s call a toss sweep from our own end zone.
That should be nifty.
SDSU allowed to regroup due to weather.
God hates the US milltary… apparently.
Wtf?
Baylor even with OU?
Down by 3. They deserve to lose for wearing those uniforms. They are OU for Christs sake.
Ugh!
This experiment is almost over.
Today has been such a waste of time for so little reward.
… and then the wheel route off motion isn’t obvious… ugh.
Hmmm… AFA gets called for a ticky-tack PI in the end zone.
We’ll see if the refs call that play the same for the rest of the game.
did anybody happen to listed in to “Husker Post Game Overreaction” on 1620 the Zone in Omaha? or Husker Max or whatever the name of that site that banned Angry? I can only report that at half time, with Rutgers ahead 17-14, Nebraska was booed heading to the locker room which absolutely mortified the radio announcers.
It mortified them because they’re the bestest fans in all of football. Their 357 sell-outs are brought to you by Heinz… minus 300… which was possibly one of the crappiest movies ever.
Don’t be conflicted.
It’s all empirical and shit.
OT: Watching Oregon-ASU right now, and ASU has a player with the last name of “French-Love”. Why the heck didn’t we offer him?
Because our fabled triple option would have been called ménage a trois.
Nice effort, but we lived through the Pettibone years. You can make better suggestive remarks regarding the wishbone.
French-Love?
Do you bring him up because you hope he gets hurt?
Is Cirque du Soleis in town?
*Soleil… and holy crap!
They’re in Portland under the big top. I might have to see that.
No Pac-12 team looks invincible. But none look like like pushovers either. Well, almost none.
As soon as you think someone is a push-over, they’ll beat you 13-7 at home when they have zero credibility as a team. And they’ll toss your RB into the wall… twenty yards out of bounds… on your home field.
And you’ll say something about 28 years.
True that. I remember that game.
Imagine AFA in red instead of blue… and wit much better players.
NCAA football would hate Troy Calhoun at Nebby.
I have to give angry credit on that call. I wanted Fleck as our coach. He wanted Calhoun. I think both would have us up and running right now relatively speaking. I still think stealing Fleck at that time would not have been a reach.
But I can imagine many of my responses to his verbology.
Iowa-pedo state just got intresting.
cool thanks
Tim McVey
Such an unfortunate name.
Damn!
I like this Barkley kid.
Kid’s got wheels that’s for sure.
Could possibly use a communications class… or three.
Why don’t they kick a FG?
That was well done.
… and so lucky.
That doesn’t go anywhere on the next level.
I bet 27 wishes he could jump 1 inch higher.
Or extend his arms…
Or tip that pass….
Wow
The refs in the ducks / devils game are actually calling the holds on the outside and inside vs the ducks… I’m amazed.
That will stop in the second half in favor of, “letting them play.”
Did I just see the Bang Bros Bash?
ASU should hire Bruce Read to coach ST. He would be an upgrade.
Ed’s son is a fine QB.
Luke Del Rio comes in with Florida and leads them to victory. Likely to start next week.
I wish we were that pathetic.
Are they running the ball a la the Fred Taylor days?
If not, they better have a Tebow in their pocket. Florida should win every game most years just because they can grind you to a pulp if they so chose that route.
Having seen GA and his “I’d like to do what’s successful… unless the other team defends us… then we’ll do something unsuccessful… because they would never expect that…
… Jim McElwain (apparently pronounced with a Mac) will suck at Uffla.
Has to be a record day for blocked kicks.
It’s college football.
Man, Nkeal Harry would have been nice to land. He was the reason we recruited Moran in the first place, along with Chase Lucas
Who does he play for?
They’re ASU?
Yes?
OH! OH! OH!
It’s time for the obligatory, “Why the hell couldn’t GA get Herbert as a QB recruit? He’s such a failure,” post.
Who will make it first?
Perhaps because he grew up in Eugene and went to Sheldon HS… about 3.5 miles from U of 0….. about the same distance as OSU from Crescent Valley HS…. how is GA doing on that front?
Sheldon’s a helluva lot closer to Nikegon than CV is to OSU.
Hell, OSU can almost get to an airport before they could get to CV.
Anyway, what’s your point? Are you upset because GA ain’t hard for Marco Brewer?
First have you ever even been to Corvallis?…. your reference to CV makes me wonder…2nd…. yeah I think all OSU fans should be disturbed by the Beavs not getting a bit of live from any of the 10 top reqruits in the state thus far for the year.
Hi.
I’m Jack.
Nice to meet you.
Let’s put it this way.
I’ve been a member of the co-op since 1970.
And I shop there every week, you weak ass mother fucking Duck.
Or something else that rolls off the fingers easily.
So 3rdgenbeav,
I need for you to tell me about your Corvallis expertise. Anything not google-able would be a start.
Here’s one for you. What’s the address of the hospital where I was born?
Assume I was born in Benton County somewhere. That should help your calculations some, you pissant puke puddle.
Jack what is this some prove who has the most right to being fucking pissed at how the Beavers are doing?…. no I am not quite as old as you but my grandpa … 3 uncles mom, dad, sister and I plus about 5 cousins all have degrees from OSU…. I sat in the rain as a kid watching the crap that we called football…. I was there when Riley finally got us over the hump to a bowl game…. been a season ticket holder for almost 20 years…. so call me a duck you old bastard…. ps our recruiting and our team sucks right now…,
Your weak analogies of your pretend existence in Corvallis are meaningless, you fuck stick pushed up my ass for no reason.
You challenged my Corvallis-dom.
I will run fucking circles around you when it comes to what Corvallis is now and what Corvallis was when I was born, you little pile of withering shit eaten by worms then shit out again.
To paraphrase the wife of the moron who is the Treasury secrectary of the fuckstick who is POTUS, I pay more in taxes in Corvallis than you do, so go fuck yourself.
Wait… that’s not a nice thing to say. Nor is it smart. What am I thinking?
Oh… it has been defended by you who will now choose not to defend it.
If you have anything relevant to the topic at hand, I’d love to talk about that.
Jack I had assumed you were born at the vet hospital on campus but if not then Sammaritan would be your parents choice ps I was born in Lebanon grew up a half hour from Corvallis so go find yourself someone else to try and throw your old man pent up shit with…. I still commute from Idaho for the games…when work allows so once again enjoy your night….
Simple question:
Where’s the best place to fish in Corvallis?
You failed.
You need to give the address for Samaritan, you puke pile posing as a pootie pie.
fucking waste of time
!!!!!!!!!!!
Fishing?… well jack doesn’t that have a lot to do with football?.., when I was growing up I fished the Calapooia…. now I don’t have much time but I like to fish below the dam at Foster lake near sweet home…. oh wait is that to far forcyku to drive?
You’re not going to just give up now… are you?
Even a Duck would have a second bullshit wind.
Two simple questions, two stupid answers that have nothing to do with the questions.
Have you ever been to Corvallis?
I hope you have. I rather like it, and I would suggest to anyone they visit. You might learn something about it if you went.
You are correct on one thing Jack….communicating with you is a complete waste of time…. oh your Ducks are about to loose…
Yay?
Wtf man?
You picked this fight.
Fucking finish it, you weak piece of shit.
You better not be related to someone I know.
You will be embarrassed, son.
Well jack…. I come here…. mostly to read about recruiting from nicebeaver…. but at the state our team is in I decided to add a few thoughts the last few weeks I don’t come here to prove who or what I am to a dip shit like you…. So with that F off and go Beavs
Don’t throw that weak-ass shade at me.
You’re the one who picked this meaningless fight, you little punky puke.
Either finish it, or wander off with your tail between your legs.
I already know you’re not going to do what’s polite or proper, so don’t pretend your tighty whities aren’t stained with poo right now.
Tail it is.
Jack, just another liberal piece of shit.
Sadly, something you can only aspire to be.
You pick the fight, I’ll finish it, you scum-sucking wet fart of a human.
I was hoping the Pac games would be some good football.
Bryant was all over that because Montez didn’t see a weak middle.
I could see that play a mile away.
Why?
Why up?
When you make the sign of the cross, why do you point up? That looks like you’re a stupid. Trust me. I was an acolyte when mass was in Latin. God is supposed to be everywhere.
Why up?
Why isn’t that a TD?
Isn’t the pylon inbounds?
I thought the pylon was out of bounds…
It’s considered a part of the end zone. So a runner who extends to the pylon but never actually puts the ball in the end zone wil get a TD.
I’m assuming the rule would be that the runner has already established possession within the field of play before touching the pylon. Just touching the pylon like that receiver did does not establish possession.
Hmmmmm, better try it on Madden….
Why?
The rules are clear.
lol at taggart’s first real game
Dumb move not to use his final timeout on 4th and 10 there.
He looked a little discombobulated when the shit got real there at the end. Also, fuck Ken Goe and his “the Ducks 3-0 start is being undervalued”.
What does Ken Goe have to do with anything?
Spewing his shit as usual.
Why am I supposed to care?
i didn’t realize you were my target audience, Jack. But Black Bandit nicely understood my reference, so I will take that.
I don’t understand his comment either.
So we’re even?
And don’t sell yourself short.
You don’t realize a lot of stuff. ;)
Precisely.
Undervalued by playing two cannon foder teams and mike riley? So really, 3 cannon foder teams? What a dip shit.
Precisely.
Asu pass on 3rd was idiotic. Make oregon kill the clock dummies
Yes, but at least Graham gets some time to figure out where his next dream job might be.
Willie didn’t look like his assured self those last two unimpressive Duck drives. Take away 30 yards in ASU penalties and there wasn’t much happening. Maybe this will quiet the “Ducks are back” talk for awhile.
Nice to see that Coach Graham enjoys two in the pink, one in the stink.
Is that code for nose-picking?
Maybe Bike and Todd can go coach in that new pro minor league I was reading about when their college careers end in two months.
So, to be clear, that’s not code for nose-picking?
All right… TCU beat Oklahoma State….TCU controlled the clock, ran 52 times…and except for once took away the deep pass….
A feedback loop is being built.
Good god, UCLA and Stanford are still playing?!?
Stanford up comfortably now…Rosen must not love the game enough…
He is considering going back to tennis.
I feel much better about the Civil War after watching the Duck game. I think, as it stands right now, OSU can compete on a good day. The only part holding the “win” part back is the horrendous play-calling. OSU certainly has more offensive weapons available than the Sun Devils, but it is a matter of using them effectively to keep the chains moving, which the coaches miserably fail to do. Cut the toughness shit and start learning some X’s and O’s.
Ducks defense was on the field for 38 minutes tonight, but the offense kept the team in it by answering ASU when down 17.
Don’t worry about the CW until the game is played.
You can’t pick a winner beyond giving the home team three points.
Any book who deviates from that is just a gambler.
College football sucks.
Why do I watch it?
So this is what I see:
Navy and AFA are some pretty darn good teams.
Arky is Wazzu, and I think they coug’d it
Iowa needs to recruit taller linebackers.
The Ducks… well… it writes itself.
I’m starting to dislike Chris Petersen for no reason.
Wow!
I stopped flipping to the Arky/aTm game late in the third quarter. It was boring as shit. I can only imagine OT was just as boring.
I watched four matches (only Chelsea in the PL), one truck race and downloaded and watched a hurling match because I was fucking bored by college football.
And I still managed to make the day something of an NFL RedZone.
I love NFL RZ.
It makes football palatable.
That’s your bar. Do it that well, or don’t do it. What are you going to do… go on strike?
Oh yeah… your labor is commoditized.
Did you not know that?
Dude…
the fourth quarter was anything but boring…..big play after big play.
I think there is a question of context and relativism. If they are all (or most) “big plays,” are they really “big plays,” anymore, or is the game being played poorly?
I didn’t see the, so I don’t know if there was some well played defense, or it was matador defense with long offensive plays?
But I think the notion of lots of big plays and (often) poorly played defense is becoming a viewing problem for NCAA football and it is making it boring. If the WWF-quality refereeing we saw in the CWS becomes common to NCAA football – and some might say it already it is – it becomes even less watchable.
Jax was too busy deadlifting, to give two SHITS!
*one
Big play?
Or no D?
I only saw glaring weaknesses in any of the previous big plays in that game. When I can make the passes some of these QBs make for “big” plays, that takes a lot of the shine off the word.
Re: Petersen — probably because he’s going to beat us.
You are really on a roll the last couple of days, old son.
Some fall ball notes from the GT……………
“OSU finished the 2017 season 56-6 overall, matching Texas’ 1975 team for the fourth-best winning percentage of the CWS era (1950-present). But the Beavers suffered their first two-game losing streak of the year in Omaha, falling to eventual-champion LSU in the bracket finals.”
LSU won it all? Crackpot reporting there GT
“Right-handed pitcher Drew Rasmussen, who was drafted 31st overall by the Tampa Bay Rays but did not sign, will miss the upcoming season following a second Tommy John surgery.”
How in the fuck does that happen that quickly? Poor rehab? Failed surgery? Shitty doctor? I’d be asking some serious questions.
http://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/beavers-sports/baseball/osu-baseball-with-returners-everywhere-beavers-get-back-to-work/article_ed7f0d34-5eaf-5818-a9db-60ee34ae4296.html
Damn!
That’s not even decent bad. That’s blaming the State Department when the CIA is so fucking obviously to blame bad.
I couldn’t help but LMAO tonight watching the ducks lose to a 1-2 ASU team. The talk this week about Freeman and Herbert being Heisman candidates…..funny stuff. The ducks have yet to play a quality opponent but they thought they’d breeze by ASU…..more losses are coming and then those fans will be throwing Taggart under the bus too just like they did Helfrich….Yes, the ducks are back…..LMAO.
Yay?
Until Oregon State football is Anywhere – I won’t take much satisfaction in the ducks Not Being Back.
And they’re still 3-1 correct? Taggert’s at least won a road game?
Until Andersen and McLovin establish a consistent ground game and quit turning the ball over, and the D has a chance to respond and improve, there’s no point in the Duck’s status, whatever it is.
Yup.
3-1 and tied with us and Cal at the bottom of the Pac 12 North.
Does anyone know of a work around when those hacks at oregonlive close down your ip address….I love sticking it to some duck fans but clownzano had olive shut me down because I called him out on the dolphinII Strip Club sponsoring his radio show….if anyone knows a work around, let me know…..I appreciate it. Clownzano is pretty thin skinned when especially when he knows he’s wrong and rather than admit it, he took the pussy way out…I’m guessing the dolphinII is still a sponsor of his radio show….I stopped listening to the hypocrite jerk after he went on his multiple rants about Luke Heimlich….
just go fuck yourself
At least have the decency to offer him a bed of nails. I’m disappointed Jack. You’re better than that.
The bed of nails was unique.
I just ran out of steam.
Jax, you’re so tough. Let’s link up so you can show me how to deadlift
They have little blue pills for that. You don’t need me to be present to help with your, um, deadlift.
Now Jack, I sense something is a little off with you.
How so?
Oh, I don’t know….maybe the comment that you made to go efff myself….but if that’s your typical response, then I guess you’re right on target…..I asked a simple question hoping to get a rational idea but my expectations were underwhelmed by your response….
Meh… what I wrote was weak. Stick with that.
You’re asking for a workaround to participate in the same garbage on a different site. I just hastened your results.
I hope I summed up what you can expect from them correctly.
Damn, Jack must be hungover today. If you get a hangover from peyote…
I’ve never tried peyote, but I imagine anything that involves you throwing up before the high will give you a hangover.
From this thread’s posts, it appears that Jack is that one fan in every fan base who goes over the top too easily. Similar to how Randy Marsh tries to pick fights with parents at his son’s little league games, always in your face but also feels obligated to share some sort of opinion.
Hi.
This is the internet.
Nice to meet you.
… or something …
And it wasn’t me who picked the fight.
So you can shove that idea up your idea hole.
I’m pretty sure Hole fans are also the type that pick fights with little kids in the stands as well. Sad to see someone stoop to their level, especially a supposed OSU fan. Guess old dogs can’t learn new tricks.
Your moral pretense is duly noted, you little tartany devil, you.
Jack is an annoying douchebag that we just have to live with (unfortunately)
Is there a way to ban him? I’m not sure if anyone likes him.
If you cry a little harder, you won’t be able to see my posts.
That’s as good as a ban.
*sniffle*
Speaking of POTUS, I can be an irrational tool, and you would still spend your time writing about me.
I gotta admit, I’m starting to understand why the stupids listen to him.
So about Beaver Football….. how many touches are you people predicting Nall gets next week? In other words is the game plan adjusted post Luton or do they keep the run away train of passing go straight down the tracks?
Good morning.
Are you here to pick another meaningless fight?
I honestly believe we’ll see fewer passes. Luton was brought in because the coaches felt they had to have a downfield passing threat for the offense to be successful. If they thought DG could be the guy, they would have just stuck with DG and not reached on Luton.
That makes sense.
But giving the ball to our backs 35+ times makes sense no matter who the QB is. So I wouldn’t bank on it.
We could go all pass because it’s like the Spanish Inquisition.
And UW will play six in the box. That’s apparently a stacked box for our run game.
The receivers need game reps, okay?
I would like to agree and do hope we finally see the running backs get some touches but the OC’s interview about how DG has been practicing the whole play book makes me wonder if the passing barrage may continue….
One of the details i noticed in last night’s ASU win was they let the play clock run till there were only a few seconds left on nearly every play. Because of this, they really controlled tim of possession, while also giving their defense plenty of rest between series.
All year I’ve thought OSU needed to slow it down as well, but instead they opt to use some no huddle, hurry up offense, which has beem giving their opponents extra oppotunities to run up the score in the 2nd half.
Curious if the tempo changes with Garretson
Funny you mention that. My limited observation was the opposite, in the final five or six minutes of the game I watched ASU snap with 12-17 seconds still on the clock. I thought about that when nike u had the ball with less than 30 seconds remaining; could have already been over.
As for OSU, I’ve noticed some good clock usage……and some bad. Come to think of it, most of the good may have been recollections from last season.
Wow!
Bears defender pulls a Leon Lett.
My wife is from Illinois, a big Bears fan….she saw that play, shook her head and said “I’m gonna get a recording of that play to remind everyone of exactly what not to do….horrible!!!!”. This is why the NFL is hard to watch – wonder if that guy sat for the anthem too.
The anthem’s irrelevant. The flag on the back of his helmet is an equal flag code violation. I don’t hear you whining about that.
Actually, the flag on a sports uni is more egregious than kneeling during the anthem. I was only thinking of the violation in the way it’s presented when it’s not on a standard.
Go ahead, confirm your bias.
Confirmed!!!!
Patriotic Organization??
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Patriotic_and_national_organizations_chartered_by_the_United_States_Congress
That Brandin Cooks guy has some wheels.
I don’t know about you guys, but last night was the best I’ve seen the Beavers play all year (they didn’t). Not holding out a whole lot of hope based on what I’ve seen that there will be much to look forward to the rest of the season.
Bye put up a decent fight.
Gotta give credit where credit is due.
Looks like you have a couple fans that hit the minus button on anything (everything?) you post.
Nice to be loved, eh?
Being a part of the Like-me/+/Thumbs-up generation is not a me problem.
If they have so little strength of faith on some of this stuff, they can do what they want on something as trivial as that.
Wanna see a White Knight SJW in the middle of a bunch of snowflakes?

I don’t recommend spending a weekend with Norovirus. Ho-Le-Fuk
My stepson got that a few years ago and it was BAD.
Sucks don’t it? Nothing like shitting and puking violently……at the same time.
Did it come from food?
Any restaurants we all need to avoid?
Doubt it was food. My wife got it 24 hours before me, and we all (6 of us) had the same home cooked meal. If it had been food, i would have thought we would get it the same day. Just unlucky
It incubates for at least 12 hours, commonly between 24 and 48 hours depending on physiology and what strain it is. But it’s also really contagious. So if you didn’t go out a day or so before, someone out there passed it on.
Visit any nursing homes recently?
Hope you all are okay. That stuff’s nasty.
No nursing homes. Our 2 & 4 year old haven’t gotten it yet. That’s going to really suck if/when they do
Yeah that’s bad news, Nic was probably 6 when he got it and we ended up having to take him to the ER for IV fluids and anti nausea medicine. Poor little dude.
Congrats to Jack for carrying an entire thread through the weekend with more unread posts than anyone in the history of angrybeavs.
I would guess Jack is at nearly 250 of 350 posts on this thread so far.
Thank you. Thank you.
I’ll be here all week.
Off your meds again, honey?
Always off meds, my sweet.
I sprained my thumb scrolling past his bullshit all weekend.
No, you didn’t.
Using bullshit to comment about bullshit.
Irony.
You’ll have to forgive him. He’s currently transitioning to a woman where his irrational thoughts and behavior are more widely accepted.
You don’t have to exhibit your hate for your mother and all the other females in your life to try to insult me, peon. You can use your google machine to come up with something halfway decent, booger eater. I suggest you try tying these words into the search:
How does a jelly-noggin like me come up with with a zinger that doesn’t project my insecurities?
Jack’s Gash! I just put my beer through my nose. That is some funny shit, I’ll laugh about that one at work tomorrow. Gotta love ABer’s.
You’re so afraid of me, you have to make up different characters to pat yourself on the back.
It’s almost as pathetic as the time you pretended you were a woman.
Can I thumb up my post too?
Thumbs up give my life meaning. Without them, I might have beer up my nose.
Jax!!! Tomorrow deadlifts and The View @ 8 AM sharp than the Spa!
Ewww!
The View makes you… um… deadlift?
And what’s sharper than the spa? Certainly not you.
Why don’t you gather all your little personalities up and read a book? You could play act the parts with each part of you taking turns. Wouldn’t it be fun? It might help you with that deadlift issue you’ve been having lately.
They say deadlifting happens to everyone. So know that you and all your personalities are not alone. There’s help out there, little buddies.
So. Much. Blood.
I’ve been throwing up all weekend!
That can happen periodically.
Throwing up come in waves, interspersed with putting out.
Jack is allowed to do his usual impersonation of a robocall, and Angry pleads for someone to buy a cup of coffee, WTF! Perhaps I’ll consider buying a pot of coffee if/when Angry gets Jack in the box.
That’s what she said.
Jake Browning’s father Ed, played QB at OSU from 1987-91 and he couldn’t convince Jake to become a legacy?!? : )
Game starts at 5, but is on PAC network.
“Son, some of my fondest memories from my playing days at Oregon State were winning 1 game per season and getting to visit schools like UW who had better visitor locker rooms than our own home locker rooms at Reser. Away games were like a vacation…”
Reser?
http://scarc.library.oregonstate.edu/omeka/files/original/f1245edc9b50a2f81dd0f51ec644f03b.jpg
Oh yeah…
He probably remembers this:
https://static.seattletimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/11162016-rosebowl01-640×384.jpg
-or-
He remembers them lying on the turf for a team pic with those roses in their mouths.
Picture caption: “Does this smell like roses or beaver to you?!?”
Parker.
Gill looks great in that picture. The recent paint job didn’t do anything for that building.
From what I have heard, Browning was going to go wherever Peterson was. Osu was never in the picture.
Are we going to get a presser from Andersen today?
Here you go:
Guys are fighting like heck….
Owe to Beaver Nation…
Big Boy Pants….
In the Pac 12, the conference of champions every game is a big boy fight, and Washington has a great team…
Our responsibility as coaches to put the guys in the right positions…
Players make the plays…..
Best college town in the pac 12…
It’s sad that you may have nailed it.
“You also saw the Bobcats use more two- and three-back sets, and Murray lined up under center in various short-yard situations.” Montana State adjustment after a bye week and then getting a Big Sky win over North Dakota.
And this: “If you were to ask me who do I want to be in a perfect world: Getting in ‘21’ personnel (two backs and a tight end) and pound people and take their souls and have fun doing that,” Choate said. “But that’s probably not who we are right now.” Nothing about big boy pants.
If only I were reading something like that about the Beavs defeating a Pac-12 opponent.
“Getting in ‘21’ personnel (two backs and a tight end) and pound people and take their souls and have fun doing that,”
Love that sentiment and that he said it out loud.
It is hard to take someone’s soul when we are still looking for our own identity. I wish the Beavs had that mindset.
USC’s Darnold has already thrown 7 INTs, after throwing 9 all of last season, so at least we likely won’t have to hear about his Heismann chances much longer….
USC at WSU could be interesting this weekend.
I’d be surprised if USC didn’t grind Wazzu’s D to a pulp. And it does seem Darnold and Falk are making a lot more mistakes this year. I’m surprised Falk is still standing.

Groundhog Day.
Yup.
The lip smacking continues, especially during the opening statement. Sign of ???
Points I noticed:
1) Mention of the strength of the UW DL, prelude to another pass heavy Beavs O??
2) When asked about Noah’s role, the answer was basically, “check with Kevin”.
3) Remarks about how the team will never be the same (players AND coaches) after the season is complete.
This was the opportunity for GA to make a statement about any coaching change and/or any new philosophical thrust………didn’t happen. So, yeah, Groundhog Day.
Probably a sign of him just finishing lunch. If he had a toothpick, he might have flicked a pork chop out of his teeth.
It’s a lot of coach speak. The two parts I’m concerned about are when he was talking about not asking players to do things they can’t do and when he was talking run/pass balance in the end. It’s as if he thinks passing is the cornerstone of the O’s foundation. He’s said previously that we have to pass to set up the run (that’s not Groundhog Day). It’s as if he’s saying if we can’t pass, then we can’t run?
I understand an averse reaction to his time at Wiscy. If you drop back to pass more than 15 times, you’re a loose cannon. But no team needs to drop back more than 30 times per game (unless that is their only mode of operation, like Wazzu) to win football on any level. Yes, you have to be efficient and make good decisions and get some decent production out of that side of your O. But we also have to run the ball with our backs 35+ times, or we’re never going to be efficient in the passing game.
Maybe DG’s arm limits what our coaches think might be asking too much of him, and we luck into some Nall ball?
More deflecting offensive questions? Aren’t head coaches supposed to be like CEO’s? Why doesn’t he ever know what’s going on with the offense?
New GA motto: Pants on, hands off, can’t win.
There is an odd disconnect.
Eggers up with a piece on GA’s resolve (he says he’ll continue to fight my ass off).
GA, “I want to see us play disciplined football,” he says. “That’s on the damn coaches. We have to be more disciplined. We have to work our asses off not to have those big swings that come our way.”
–Not looking good for Evans to play this season.
–GA acknowledges that the team “will rally around” Garretson; is this a recognition on the part of GA that the team views DG as a more deserving QB? I think not.
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/373287-257243-resolve-remains-for-osus-andersen
When did Tino Allen play?
first three games
Jaelen Bush getting converted to scholarship is news to me. That’s awesome if true
“So the OSU coaches must be selective in the recruiting process. And they’ll likely take at least a few graduate or JC transfers who can provide immediate help.”
Seems like Andersen and his staff have relatively poor track record on the JCs? DeCoud and maybe that RB name(?) who could have garnered more carries with his productivity and tough running style. Anyone else?
And they need to qualify….
Tim Cook – now on Jacksonville’s practice squad. I know, Jacksonville, practice squad. But imo, Andersen completely screwed over Tim Cook even after TC played really well in a game (?) when Nall was injured. I started doubting Andersen about then – Cook not only didn’t play much, he rarely played at all after that game. Perhaps Andersen didn’t notice because he isn’t involved in the offense, in which case he shouldn’t be getting paid for being the head coach.
Agree 100%. Cook was a monster every time he played.
I think Tim Cook has the size and ability to stick on a regular NFL roster. He’s in the NFL’s Siberia now, but imagine if he gets the right opportunity somewhere he’ll open some eyes and get another look.
So on one hand it’s encouraging, whoever found and recruited Cook did a nice job. I can also understand not wanting to disrupt the team too much since Nall is the clear #1 and AP is no joke either. But just like this year there has to be a way to get your best players the ball, and putting more than one of them on the field at a time seems like the obvious move.
The good ‘ol AP reports that the leg humpers will be without starting WR Chico McClatcher for the rest of the season.
“McClatcher’s loss is a big blow to Washington’s offense, which has sputtered at times in the Huskies’ first three victories before relying on a heavy dose of running back Myles Gaskin to dispatch the Buffaloes on Saturday.”
Gaskin unlikely to find much resistance getting to the second level this Saturday…McClatcher’s loss likely more important later in the season against stouter defenses.
It’s such a big loss to the Huskies’ offense that it caused the spread to drop by 0.5 points! Down to 26.5 now.
Osu is so worried about poor attendance this weekend, they’re offering free tuition to 1 ramdom lucky student if they’re attending the game.
That’s an expensive marketing strategy.
Tuition where? : )
http://www.osubeavers.com/news/2017/9/25/football-wjn-tuition-for-a-year-saturday-at-reser.aspx
Why the stadium will be full Saturday……….. with UW fans.
BASEBALL:
D1 out with their top programs rankings, Beavs #8 in the nation, on top of the PAC. Whoreton’s group slips 20 places since 2015, ranks #46 nationwide, sixth in the PAC.
Open scrimmage at Goss, 6pm Tuesday.
NOTE: The D1 rankings are not a projection for the 2018 season, they are overall program rankings, “… taking into consideration recent history, coaching staff quality, facilities, scholarship/financial aid situation, conference dynamics, and recruiting and player development proficiency.”
Their analysis is behind a paywall but the list of rankings is not.
If anyone goes to the scrimmage, the guys to watch are the freshman. Two guys should be able to contribute immediately. Abel and McMahon.
There’s one outlier, and it makes zero sense. It should be worse than the other numbers, but it’s not. I guess that speaks to how close this team is to being good, versus them being what they have been so far.

Yards per play?
YPG/YPP= leads to the deduction that OSU averages 5 more offensive plays per game than UW, shouldn’t be a surprise, but was to me.
Losing the TO battle so poorly puts some of this into perspective; that, and special teams being such a poor “weapon”.
So were half way there??
Our red zone offense says, “This is team who can beat you down and steal your soul and have fun running the ball.”
The rest of our numbers say, “This is a team with a bunch of headless chickens running around.”
It tells me we should be doing what we do in the red zone over the rest of the field. I wonder if it’s because the back end throws are removed as options, so we get better play calling and more executable plays for our personnel.
It also helps that the opposition has to respect our run game on a short field, whether we’re paying attention to that part of our game or not. No D can give up a decent run in the red zone and win that specific outcome. And having the backs we do makes them have to crowd the box. Even a two second mesh keeps the backers up on the line in that situation.
So… remove the back end throws, make the D respect your run game and take advantage of a tighter D with easier angles.
Makes sense to me. It feels like we’re very stingy on 1st and 2nd down, only to give up a big play on 3rd down from a blown assignment or missed tackle. In-opprotune penalties as well.
OT: And the genius Mike Leach…”To me it’s not real clear what’s being protested – I haven’t heard a clear articulation of what’s protested or objected to.”
I thought he was supposed to be “well read”–or should it be “well red”?
He hasn’t shaved his ears in a while. So he may not have heard anything in the past three years.
So you mean to tell me Adidas is the only shoe/apparel company that’s been paying players under the table to steer them towards soecific schools, so they can promote the brand and then get future endorsement deals with their company?
Maybe we should take a closer look at the schools in the PK-80 tournament?

I’m sure Nike does the same thing. I know that Judson the Oregon football recuirt said Nike was letting him design recuriting ideas for them. I’m sure its all on the up and up, right!?
The more I read about this, the more it looks like it involves Nike and UnderArmor schools as well. Adidas is the only company so far to have a corporate figure (head of marketing) named as providing money to steer student athletes, but there are phone calls where it is mentioned he was providing that money to compete with money being sent by an unnamed rival apparel company,
This whole thing sounds pretty deeply seeded. Not a huge surprise, however. Basically, I think we can all just assume that everything related to the sports world is corrupt at some level.
Adidas has been doing it longer. But Nike is the big player in HS player pay-offs. If they don’t get snagged in this to a major level, I’d say it’s not because they’re good at hiding it, because they’re not. If they don’t get investigated or end up with all the same penalties Adidas will face after all investigations are done, it will be because someone is a snitch or was tipped off.
