  1. Silly Braggart takes it easy on a brother, like Iowa declining to put 56 on Riley yesterday, keeps it to a 21 point win, but not really that close. 48-28.

Nall should pull a McCaffery and sit it out to preserve his body for NFL or next year wherever he plays. Good day for a pregame “hamstring” injury.

  2. I began a break from drinking this week but I have a feeling the bottle of Hornitos in my cupboard might get emptied this afternoon.

I’ll just leave it at that.

  3. 63-10 Ducks. Not going to bother spending 4 hours of my time watching my classmates and neighbors get their asses kicked because of coordinators who don’t give a fuck.

  4. I’m picking more with my heart than my brain on this one, but I think the Beavs win 31-27 as their road losing streak has to end sometime and it might as well be today. I think they finally put together a full game for 4 quarters and come away with the win. I think some of the comments from the Beavs this week were intentional in that they know the Ducks are one of the most penalized teams in the country and commit a few critical PFs during the game….Beavs are using those comments to get the Ducks too emotional for the game and will continue to make critical PFs to the Beavs advantage.

I also think that DG comes out throwing the ball to loosen up the run defense for the Ducks and that will ultimately help the Beavs get TT and Nall going. Big question mark for me is OSU’s defense? I’m not sure they can stop the Ducks running game and that could result in a very lopsided outcome in the Ducks favor. The weather could become a factor too so you just never know in these types of games.

Bottom line is….that road losing streak is bound to end eventually just like the Ducks 8 game winning streak over the Beavs last season….why not today? Beavs have nothing to lose and the Ducks will be looking for revenge and playing out of control emotionally in the early stages of the game. I look for the Ducks to get at least 2 PFs early on in this game.

    31-27 Beavs…..

  5. Gonna need a big game from Bright and mayonnaise hungalu to contain the rush attack but honestly these ducks can’t stop anyone on d so watch Tyner have a huge day, Nall pounding away as the closer late. Beavs up early, 21-0

    • Especially with Bright saying Beavs have seen better backs than Freeman…bulletin board material w/freeman having chances to break some records today if I recall.

    • From USA Today:

Arizona State has done background work on candidates, and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin is believed to be a high priority should he become available. Anderson is also known to be intrigued by coaches with NFL ties, including Michigan passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton and Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason, a Phoenix native, is also someone Arizona State is expected to have some interest in should it decide to fire Graham.

  6. The only reason i might check into todays game is to see what type of stupid stuff a staff and team with nothing to lose might resort to against a team they hate. Picturing lots of late hits and confrontations. Maybe a coach tripping a player running down the sidelines. Hits out of bounds. Not saying I condone it, but I do anticipate it.

    • I’m checking in because it’s the CW…gotta watch it, even if it’s bad. At least some of it. I wish we tried Moran at QB. He’s already burned his RS, correct? So why not…dude has wheels and could be a difference maker. Might transfer anyway if he doesn’t fit the new system. I’m tuning in to see if we do anything wild like that. If we just go with running a bunch and Garrettson trying to throw. Won’t work. Might for a bit but DG will make errors eventually. Oregon has a bad D, but we have a bad O, and we’re prone to errors, so even if we’re good for a while we’ll fumble or throw an INT at the worst time. Their RBs and WRs are going to run all over our D. Oregon’s speed will be the difference. Our D can’t hang with that speed.

I liked our chances with Herbert out.

      • “Oregon’s speed will be the difference.”
        Agree,
But wish I could agree with GreatSwammi above on uck PF’s being the difference. Just don’t see enough PF’s to offset the speed advantage.

      • Supposedly, Moran’s dad posted on blitz that Moran isn’t transferring.

I got this from a separate message board and cannot confirm since I do not pay for Blitz so take it for what it is.

  7. My concern – based on what I read here – is Beavs may have checked out already on the season. Throw in coaching distraction and this could get out of hand.

If they run the ball well, it wouldn’t surprise me if they won. But will they be in to the game?

  8. Keys to the game:

    1. Take out Herbert. If he’s out of the game, their whole offense changes.
    2. Score a lot. Will need probably 42 points to win the game.
    3. Pretty much play the game of their lives.

    • I was surprised Herbert didn’t show more rust last week. IF (big if) Beavs could rattle him early we might see a couple ints, even with a patchwork crew at DB.

  9. 38-35 Beavs, Nall with another big CW performance. Comes down to the last possession. Choukair with the dagger as time expires.

I mean, 42-20 Ducks. Sorry, was dreaming there for a second…

    • I think looking back on it, I’m happy for McM that he got out of the GA dumpster fire and is having such a successful year. Hoping Tedford doesn’t get poached and he gets to make another run on the MW next year with a full off-season with the team, he deserves it.

Looking back on our schedule, I still don’t think we are a bowl team just with him remaining on the roster, not with how poorly the rest of the team played most of the season. But I do see something like 5 wins if he had stayed, and can’t help but feel like they would have at least been competitive against the tougher part of the league. But, his success and how much of an impact he’s had on that Fresno team this season is just a glaring wart, a clear symptom of the disease of whatever was poisoning the GA well (preggo coeds?).

Mostly, I’m just glad it’s over (almost). I’ll look back on the GA debacle as one of the lowest points in OSU athletics history. Never would have imagined that was going to be the case when he was hired.

      • McM is a great person and very nice QB. Glad he got out for his own future. Not glad he got out as a Beav fan, because we’d have a handful of wins with him from the start.

  10. That was a beautiful first offensive series. Lets throw a backwards pass near the end zone. It’s just so stupid, nobody would possibly expect it, right?

  11. Defense gets called for Delay of Game. You know, that thing that never happens.

The real tragedy of this game isn’t gonna be the blowout loss, it’s going to be Freeman beating Simonton’s Pac12 rushing record. That pisses me off.

Well, that and our defense being unable to tackle, playing 10 yards off all receivers, and being unable to penetrate the Ducks’ offensive line. Or throw. Or block.

  12. What a bunch of quitters. Revise to tackle, cover rec’s, fumble, penalties. What a pile of crap. Worst team I’ve ever watched in 50 years. Not going to be supportive no matter who they hire./ Done!

    • Hahaha, I said the same thing a couple weeks back. Riley’s enduring gift was this shitty class. At least the next coach will have some pieces to work with

  13. I can’t find a stream that works for me and to be honest with you right now I’m thinking that ain’t all bad the way the Beavs are playing.

    Go Beavs

  14. They are gonna hang 70 on the Beavs today.

This is the lowest point as a fan of any sports team I can remember. Fuck it, I am getting drunk.

  15. Not seeing the game…Beavs doing ANYTHING creative or interesting on offense? Wildcat with Hall? Featuring Tyler in some way?

Disappointing to hear they don’t look like they care to tackle in the CW….

  16. Angry: I see Fresno State defeated # 23 Boise State. McMaryion went 23/36 for 332 yards. 2 TD’s and no ints.

ESPN has a clip of McMaryion throwing about a 55 yard pass (in the air), he receiver didn’t have to break his stride and took it another 25 yards for a TD. There were 2 defenders right by the receiver and McMaryion laid it right in there.

  17. Beavs might be smart to milk the play clock as much as possible, just to limit time of posession for oregon in this game. This score is going to balloon on us so fast, haha

  18. Youve got to be fucking kidding me that the fumble isnt a fumble due to “forward progress being stopped”?
Didnt ever hear the whistle blow

    • Am OK with him as DB coach just because of his connection with Chad “Ocho” Johnson and Housh at Cincinnati. That and recruiting duties is all though.

Wonder if the hire is this Sunday or if Beavs really drag this out several more days. Disappointed they appear to have made no effort in talking to either Miles or Sumlin.

Baldwin could be a good hire with the right staff. Like the Lake for DC idea since they appear to have a connection. Throw in Troy Taylor or Aaron Best at OC and that is a pretty decent staff.

  19. Ducks on a pace to score 90. That’s awful on the face of it, but it might be what’s needed to get Ed Ray to pay attention to this situation

  20. It’s too bad the worst team in the Country doesn’t get the #1 recruit in the Country. That would be a nice model, except for that kid who would have to play for OSU.

  21. Why are we even keeping score. All these kids are winners for trying their best. Let’s get them all a trophy and a pat on the head for a job well done.

    • Who cares… It’s not their job to stop scoring…stupid Kevin should be doing a better job, and the beavs should stop bending over if they don’t want to take it up the ass

  22. Ducks might put up 100. Haha. I almost hope they don’t call the dogs off to let people know what we’re dealing with. All these players should transfer or told they will never play at OSU by Baldwin. All actual quitters, unlike McM, despite being in uniform.

  23. These are the top offenses and defenses in the Country:

    http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/21
    http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22

What about Will Friend as OC and Danny Gonzales as DC?
Gonzales has trained under Long. Very interesting prospect. Maybe too much youth for a staff. Heyward would be a HR. The Fresno St guy is interesting, too. Who else has had production and is realistic?

Look through the list and come up with some names.

  24. watching Garretson overthrow a guy long–he did that two or three times in his original start at Minnesota a year ago. We should have known then he didnt’ have it. he’s not keeping it on the option either. I guess he’s trying to stay healthy

  25. Beavs are hamds down the worst run P5 program in the nation and have been for years.

Ed Ray is a huge part of the problem. Doesn’t take college athlerics seriously. Thinks it is for shits and giggles.

Ed Ray’s time should be dwindling down. He has brought down Oregon State football to a greater degree than even the considerable decline Riley accomplished at Nebraska this year.

OSU needs a CEO of Sports and Ed Ray ain’t it. Baldwin will need a helluva staff to turn this around.

  26. Is it really 52-7 before halftime?

Time to clean house on the Andersen era completely. Get rid of his entire staff. Everyone. Rebuild with new pieces.

    • agree. Oregon on a 900 yard pace. You have to wonder what the half time conversation will be like in the OSU executives booth, you know, Ray, Barnes, etc. I also wonder if Gary is watching tonight and contemplating what he wrought

  27. Sick to my stomach……Hall needs to have a meeting at half and throw some punches….. if he even cares at this point…. I always wondered what it looked like at the start of the 28 years of loosing…. I think I know now….

  28. Baldwin may have a change of heart after seeing this. Sorry, but this team and staff appear to have quit before this game started. Terrible timing for a coaching hire leak last night.

  29. So…
    Touchdown,
    Onside,
    Touchdown,
    Onside,
    Touchdown,
    Onside,
    Touchdown,
    Onside,
    Touchdown,
    Onside,
    Touchdown,
    Onside,
    Touchdown for the win??

  30. This is a 6-5 team kicking our ass, not Chip Kelly’s ducks. This is a new low for me and I attended school during the Pettibone era.

  31. I can’t tell based on these announcers, are we playing undefeated crimson Tide or buckeyes, or is this a 6-5 uck team? I realize the beavs suck but it seems like they’re blowing the green Phil’s pretty good

  32. Son, we’d like you to come to Corvallis and play football for OSU.

Course, it will take us 2 or 3 recruiting classes in order for the team to be competitive so if you’re lucky and you red shirt, maybe by your senior year you’d be on a team that had a chance of winning more than 3 games a year.

  33. I had to stop watching in the 2nd quarter. Did they even practice for this game. Total rebuild because the dumpster not only burned but melted.

  34. “Cory Hall just went after someone on the Beav sideline ( looked like an assistant) “what’d you say? What’d you say? Other coaches had to step between them….full scale implosion”

    • I commented being at the game last week that I saw players on our team being seperated starting a fight with each other on the sideline…. this seems to be even more of the same…

      • and yet that idiot Travis Demers was talking after the last game about how the team was rallying around itself. everyone like everyone else. probably because there’s no one around to keep them accountable. but then given the coaching situation, how would they ever learn about accountability?

  35. I mean, I don’t understand this. The team was at least semi-competitive in most games last year (Colorado was a blow out). Was the team leadership basically Stanton and Decoud? Were they able to rise above shitty, dysfunctional coaching? There seems to be something more to this. I guess the media doesn’t care.

  36. Telecaster mentions McM transferring was “the beginning of the end”. He saw it, I saw it, GA and many here didn’t. Sad. Season, and GA’s career, ended that day.

  37. “DIRECTV highlights some of life’s uncommon pleasures: banging one’s head on a low ceiling, getting paper cuts, drinking spoiled milk, and being a beaver fan”

  38. I love how these buttfucks are giving Herbert the Heisman and sucking fortune cookie’s dick all o the sudden.

If Taggart was so great his team wouldn’t be absolute shit without one player.

  39. Now that the season is over, all I can say to this FSINO (football staff in name only) plus some of the quitters – uh, “players”: GET. THE FUCK. OUT!

  40. After that performance, maybe beavs should consider self imposed death penalty for three years. If any of us thought Riley ran this program into the ground, then GA took a bulldozer and dug his way to China. I hope we clean house and make the correct hire….Jeff tedford at Fresno state would be my first choice but I won’t be disappointed with Beau Baldwin either.

  41. If we don’t get an announcement tomorrow it must be because they are waiting to interview people still.

If it’s Beau there’s no reason to delay (unless they’re having trouble working out the details).

The December 3rd date definitely means it could be someone coaching next week. Harsin or Tedford seem like they would make the most sense. Tedford was interested in the opening last time and he has had an amazing year.

I think Tedford might actually be my top choice. I think he could definitely get the program back on track.

  42. new thread needed

    so much info

You all don’t deserve this info

You think Baeuner is somehow a good coach

I have never been apologized to so much in my life

I don’t think “apologized to” is proper English

they didn’t make me drink, but they didn’t stop serving me free drinks

saw canzano slinking around the whole night… dood is such a oser

Timmy made the line to gain… what was that replay bullshit all about

Duck mascot did exactly zero push-ups

      • Do you want a list?

I can list 20 coaches that you would look at and say, “Yeah, he makes sense.”

I don’t have “one” per se.

I like Mike Norvell. I’m biased. imet him two years ago, and he is engaging, but not a salesman. I would accept Schiano, Moorhead, Brohm. Narduzzi, Wilcox, Yurcich, Kwiatkowski, Bloomsbury,

    • The pushup thing was so funny. While the Duck was humping air and not even bending his elbows, the announcers actually said “he’s going down all the way, too”. More fantasy bullshit. God I wish someone related to sports actually spoke the truth even if it doesn’t support their made up narrative.

  43. Many people in the boxes were highly upset with the whole contrived “Cory Hall said we have fancy raincoats” pussiness.

    Rightly so.

Many think fortune cookie is not long for his current job. Many think he kept his starters in against our second and third string just to show florida that he’s better than a morning frost.

Baldwin to OSU is a joke now.

Leach manages to lose yet again.

I was wrong about Jedford. He won a conference championship for once.

I know the dumbs will try to conflate that play with MM being there. MM did wel this year. MM was not why they won. More power t him for making a decision based on his own welfare, not his team’s welfare.

Beauner as our new head gives us maybe 10 wins over the next three years.

    • Tedford’s thing was producing “system QBs,” right? I remember that was the huge knock on Aaron Rodgers coming out in the draft.

I don’t think MM is a particularly skilled QB, and I don’t think he’d have been anywhere near as successful at OSU as he was at FSU. Still, it was a mistake to not start him IMO. He was the best we had, which isn’t saying much.

    • Yeah, MM is a bum right? He led the MW Conference in QB efficiency rating after being in the program just two weeks prior to the start of the season. If the Beavs had MM at QB, we’d have won at least 2-3 more games and been much more competitive. GA naming Luton as the starting QB and MM transfer killed any shot the Beavs had at a half ass season. Having experience at QB in the P12 conference is absolutely critical….the Beavs had experience with MM and then GA and one or more of his assistants effed it up. I’d love to see Tedford hired and bring MM back with him as a transfer as MM is only a Junior….

  44. Back to the blame game and guessing why Andersen left w/o buyout: I’m rolling with the cheerleader affair and booze rumor. Juicy and plausible. When will we find out the truth?

  45. Well that didn’t turn out as expected. I expected a loss, but not a complete 60 minute kick to the balls. Whoever comes in as coach has a long hard road. At least the next group of starters have their own bill board material for next season. What an absolute embarrassment.

  46. Rough year for Barnes to walk into. Started off with Luke Heimlich, followed by GA and now this coaching hire with slim pickings.
I’m almost more in favor of Ray giving Barnes the option to walk and then taking our time to start over with a new AD who hasnt been beaten down already. Really afraid we’re just going to dig a bigger hole .

      • Being in over your head at OSU (Andersen 2nd/3rd year staff) or someone who appears to be unstable (guess) = death. Plenty of people have done just fine.

    • Umm.. no!

The abortion of an announcement involving Beauner is an embarrassment beyond professional.

There just is no way we can be taken seriously if we hire the dude.

      • I asked in the other thread and it didn’t get answered but are we sure Cal wasn’t the leak? Maybe baldwin confided in someone and they let it fly? The timing is right.

        • It’s almost immaterial.

Either he broke the trust, or Barnes broke the trust.

It boils down to who really cares about the personnel on the team.

    • Barnes appears a more capable decison maker than Ed Ray to me. I’d prefer we give Ray the option to walk. Need a much grander vision and investment at Oregon State to find repeated success in the big sports of Football and Basketball. Serious lack of leadership from the University to develop a true roadmap to success. Our major sports are in the shitter. A new President can change the position on some of OSU’s priorities and strive for real success in major athletics in addition to academics. Football team and basketball to a lesser extent are the front door to the university. Ours says reconsider before entering.

      • Reading this in the light of day makes you look even more stupid.

And now I’m looking over the rest of the thread and finding out you all are spreading rumors that GA was a drunk wife beater?

        You all are pretty low.

I had no idea I was dealing with people that low.

  47. Beavers need speed on defense if they want to be competitive in the league. That’s why I think letting Barnes walk and hiring an AD who will bring back men’s indoor track will benefit the football team significantly.

  48. OSU football shouldn’t forge an offensive identity that is similar to the Ducks, which is a high-tempo spread offense. That troubles me a little with Beau.

Rather, let’s go after a coach that runs the flex-bone offense. Forging an identity on beating the hell out of the opponent’s front seven for 60+ plays is a good selling point to quality linemen recruits and backs. A deep threat, a possession receiver, balanced tight ends and a mobile QB who can throw the deep ball well would be good enough to run ~75 plays a game.

Defense should be about stopping the run and jamming receivers at the line. Explosive plays will be given up, but so will turnovers and giving the ball back to the rushing attack would be frustrating.

  49. Call me nuts but I like the idea of Niumatalolo and the triple option. It’s a unique offense (it dies include passing all you wishpettibone haters) that is hard to prepare for and no one else in the conference would run it. It continues a pipeline to the Samoan players OSU has been recruiting. It would put OSU in a position of having something no one else in the conference does. At this point, what’s there to lose by trying it? It solves offensive identity, making things difficult for other people, creates something unique. I’m down to see if it works.

  50. Waiting to hear that Scott Barnes has made a half assed hire with unfavorable terms(because he lost leverage after letting the name of his new hire leak before actually signing the guy, doh!) only to cut bait and take the vacant position at WSU.
OSU again left trying to fill a vacant AD leadership role with a coach feeling left out on an island. The cycle continues….

  51. So… do we have any other juicy rumors we need to spread?

    Is Ed Ray a pedo?

Is Marianne Vydra a serial killer?

Let’s have it turds. Come tell us what we need to know.

        • I’m not spreading any rumors, the talk of Barnes leaving doesn’t make any sense. I am saying that Barnes needs to stay at OSU and help improve the key programs (Football and MBB) and maintain the legacy programs. He earned some merit at a non-Power 5 school, now he needs to do it at a major school. The football hire is his starting point and he better have a plan for a new MBB coach is about three years (or less).

          • Oh… and it was widely known that the Friday night Beauner announcement just fucked our team, as much as nobody wants to admit that. You all complain about them giving up? What do they have to play for after Friday’s news leak? Maybe self-respect while playing for a program that doesn’t respect itself?

I am so disgusted with this bog right now.

          • Did you run out of Turkey Mash (with a fried egg) on top? Is that what has put you in this grumpy mood? I would put up a video of “Jackie Blue”, but alas, I don’t know how.

          • I’m the real thing and don’t you forget! I don’t now why I put up with you after the time you called me a racist on here and realized you “had the wrong person”, but I’m not going to let you ruin the pleasure I get from discussing things with Angry and the rest. These tangents you go on don’t reflect well on you, but you don’t care and that speaks volumes about you.

          • And I was right on calling out that racist piece of shit… wrong in calling you out… right again for apologizing to you.

If you were the real deal, you would agree.

That’s like the people who blamed me for the pedo bullshit Jeff Perry posted under my monicker.

I have yet to hear an apology from any of them.

    • Why don’t you tell us? You were the one that was hanging out at the suite level last night…. where money and decision makers are…. so you know what’s going on.

  52. I just heard that all GA’s spawn are shoplifters who spit in the faces of homeless children.

Why doesn’t the media spend time revealing this valuable info?

  53. I’ve been a Beaver fan for over 30 years, and this is the lowest this football program has been in my opinion. Some may argue that it was worse during the 80’s -90’s? Keep in mind during the 80s and 90s OSU didn’t have the facilities, resources, or the expectations that they have today. I’ve never witnessed any team quit like that team did last night! President Ed Ray, needs to resign, retire, or fix the mess he’s responsible for. This administration isn’t serious about a winning football program, they only provide lip service and talk the talk during press conferences. Until this administration can convince me that they’re serious about football, I refuse to donate anymore time or financial resources to OSU football! I know that I’m not alone. Life is too short to waste on sh*tty football. I’m distancing myself, and I’ll casually observe from the outside. Being a fan of OSU is exhausting, with the exception of baseball and women’s basketball.

    • While only being a fan since 1987 gives you a pass for not knowing the brilliance of Joe Avezzano, it doesn’t excuse you from remembering Lynn Snyder.

You never donated shit. You don’t even let cashier’s round up your purchase to the nearest dollar. You’ll be here spewing your tartany bullshit for years to come.

  54. Can you imagine if GA was a sexual predator and a racist wife beater (born with a silver spoon up his ass) who cons the elderly out of their money by providing a fake online university?

    Man!

    That would be bad.

    • I mean… that would make him a worse person than any of the bullshit rumors that aren’t being reported by the likes of such ethical men named Canzano or Moran.

Sue him thousands of times because he’s a chiseler, and we have a POTUS.

    • He does have a stronger arm. But he seems to rely too much on that arm. He made a bunch of suspect passes last night that a decent D would have picked.

He has better tools than Mariota, but I don’t know that he has the head. It can be taught, but I also don’t know that Nikegon has the coaches who can do that.

      • Over reliance on his arm likely related to fear of repeating his recent injury.
True points about the weak Beavs D and the question of whether phil’s coaching staff can improve Herberts decision making/football IQ.

        • Good point.

He could be reverting to the mean that was expected last week in terms of just looking rusty. So the suspect reads might be compensation.

And let’s be real. Mariota had a great coaching staff who could just condition him to play against a bunch of college scrubs. You could see his progression from that kid who set his feet in one direction then literally moved his head in segments to “look off” the D before turning and throwing to where his feet were originally set. A D can’t read feet. Right?

You can see a lot of Mariota’s wind-up and release in Herbert. I’m pretty sure dude spent hours in his back yard emulating Marcus… to a tee. He probably could not have chosen a better hero for that part of his game.

    • I never understood the knock on Mariota…He didn’t make many mistakes, I thought he threw a better deep pass than did Mannnion – flatter, hitting receivers in stride instead of throwing high arcing passes the WRs had to wait for – and he seems humble and like a hard worker. His early NFL career isn’t too shabby playing in a very different offense and his relative success hasn’t surprised me at all.

Herbert is from Eugene, correct, with UO his only offer?

      • There’s no knock on him.

He is who he is. He was stellar when he played against college scrubs and could run and not get injured. Now he plays in a league where running will almost literally kill him, and his lack of training as an actual QB will catch up to him about when he collects on the end of his current contract.

I was wrong in my initial assessment of his NFL abilities. His arm has not changed, but his head is little better than I expected.

  55. The “X” next to the screen name is the best feature of this site. . Now I don’t have to be subjected to Jack’s idiotic posts. I would recommended everybody else take advantage of this great feature Angry has provided.

  56. Quote from Eggers post game story. I’m posting this because, imo, what Hungalu has to say about needing coaches demanding perfection from players applies to the basketball program too.

Come on WT get off your ass and demand perfection from your players. Imo it’s either a nice guy or a coach and so far it appears that you’re trying to be the nice guy.

“…Hungalu praised Hall for coming in “with the right energy and mind-set to get the players to turn things around.” But he felt the Beavers required more.

“We needed that extra next step of coaching,” Hungalu said. “We needed a coach able to demand perfection from players, instead of just telling them to go out there and play your game, to do your thing. We can’t have one half (of the lineup) playing good and one half not playing good, because they don’t know what to do on the play. That’s inexcusable.

“But the players have to be able to take it to another level. They can’t expect to rely on the coaches all the time.”…”

    • And this, also from Hungalu:
“We didn’t take the preparation seriously. We weren’t doing the right things in practice, and all of us — me, too — expected to go out there and play a lights-out game.”

The result of a “players coach” who was thrust into the IHC spot?
Attributable to a staff of short timers with drinking problems?
Due to players experiencing a season of turmoil?
Primarily, at the root, the fault of GA?
      or??

      • Very telling quotes. Sounds like practice was a lot of joking around and having fun with coaches who don’t understand the game; then Hall expecting them to go play.

How the hell did they piece together good efforts vs CO and Stanford, though?

        • Sounds like they were drinking in prctice.

Why isn’t the media reporting on this.

          And Benghaaaaaahhhhhhhzi!!!!!!!!!!

Why isn’t the media reporting on a CIA safe house like it’s a State Department fuck-up?

          Hello?

        • That’s what was so bizarre about yesterday. There was no rivalry game intensity, both sides of the ball looked clueless. You and I could have stood on the sideline and achieved roughly the same result. Was Stanford that bad without Love? Is Colorado that shitty of a road team? The Beavers looked like a bottom feeder FCS team yesterday. Why?

          • Did you think the Friday night “scoop” that Beauner was our new head coach was a meaningless thing?

Why would you play for a program that did that to you?

  57. Angry has information that the coaches were drinking; questions are asked as to why the media doesn’t chase down this story.

IMHO the answer is simple. Angie wants access, Eggers has lost his and is spread thin, the “dampodcast” guy is clueless in most areas. That leaves Moron, the GT, and I suppose Parker (lol).

Moron doesn’t show the energy or smarts to be a true beat reporter. He had the Luke H. thing drop in his lap and was given extra assistance by the crew at the O on that one. I continue to believe a third party (disgruntled relative?) handed to him as a finished product; little actual digging required.

Any story on FB coaches drinking is likely to come from players or coaches (Hall) taking the initiative to get the word out, not from any reporter digging. That could happen fairly soon after the future of players/coaches is made clear.

  58. I don’t even think they should keep Hall. It’s stupid to me that Barnes and Ray think he should stay. It’s a very bad sign imo. As is the fact that they’re incredibly slow with this all. I think there’s a good shot we’re entering another dark age.

They need to replace this football program root and branch.

    • precisely

The leaks are a disgrace… a joke. Even if they weren’t intended as a joke, that’s what they are.

      I so hope they’re a prank.

It was so extremely disrespectful of our team… and the coaches, most of whom I dislike as coaches.

I would have awakened yesterday to find out I was injured and couldn’t play for a program that dishonored me in such a way.

Or I just wouldn’t have tried.

    • I bet Beau is the top choice but they must be negotiating and there’s a good chance Beau won’t take the job. Baldwin has them bent over a barrel because if it’s not him I bet their list is not very deep or impressive.

  59. I don’t have the time or energy to give this topic the effort that it probably deserves so…….

Is Dr. Ray and the athletic department being fiscally responsible?

As I recall bobbyd was given a raise which at that time made him one of the highest paid AD’s in the Pac-12. I see Barnes has a 6 yr contract for $850K/yr so I wouldn’t be surprised if the OSU AD position is still one of the most expensive in the Pac-12.

Then there’s GA’s salary which even if it panned out was probably more than OSU could afford. That’s if one is being fiscally responsible.

What’s got me off on this topic yet again is what I saw in another Eggers’ article “…Almost down to the wire on Oregon State football coaching search…” .

    http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/379362-266326-almost-down-to-the-wire-on-oregon-state-football-coaching-search

    Excerpt 1:

“…The Ducks are ranked No. 1 nationally by Scout.com in football recruiting for 2018, with 15 four-star athletes in a stocked-full class of 24. Trailing on Scout’s list: Ohio State, Texas, Penn State and Miami.

Oregon is ranked sixth by Rivals.com and 24/7 Sports.

In basketball, the verbal commitment by 7-1 1/2, 215-pound center Bol Bol — son of the late Manute Bol — from Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada, has propelled the Ducks’ 2018 class into the No. 1 spot nationally by 24/7 Sports.

Behind Oregon: Kansas, Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina. That’s pretty good company….”

    ——-
Obviously it’s not possible for OSU to compete with all of uo’s bling but, imo, OSU could nip away at parts of it and thus narrow the gap a bit.

    Excerpt 2 (the bling part):

” …On Bol’s visit to Eugene, he was taken into the Phil Knight Room, “where they showcase all the new Oregon gear Nike is working on. What I saw in there blew me away. Shoes lined up on chairs. Custom Oregon colorway Jordans. Like 13 different jersey combinations. Nike stuff that hasn’t come out yet. Those Jordan 4 Oregon retros that LeBron was wearing recently … I was just going crazy in there, man. For a kid obsessed with shoes, that was like heaven.”…”

    ——–
It is what it is and the uofo can only offer x schollies in any given sport so OSU has to be able to compete with the rest of the Pac for the remaining candidates.

    Excerpt 3 (more bling BUT…..)

“…Also: “The last thing I loved about Oregon was that the university has one of the biggest social media bands in college sports … I loved that Oregon and the athletic program want to have their own style and identity. I feel the same way.”…”

    ———–
Imo, the “social media band” is something that is doable by OSU and I’d bet that there are many other things like that which, if implemented by OSU, would help narrow the gap. That’s if Dr. Ray was fiscally responsible and didn’t overpay for AD’s, coaches, etc. etc.

Earlier I proposed that if OSU could find a coach that could recruit Pac-12 level players to OSU and was willing to take the job for about a million (or more) less than what GA was making then OSU could use the excess money to pay down the debt, pay for good assistant coaches AND improve the athletic facilities – – even things like a competitive social media band. Does OSU even have a social media band?

My guess is it wouldn’t be all that hard to come up with a long list of prioritized improvements on which the savings could be spent.

Imo having this kind of a plan could/would/should act as an enticement to the kind of a coach the Beavs would want to hire.

  60. Fitting that the last games of the GA regime at Wisconsin and Oregon State were losses with a 59 point margin. Too bad he didnt stick around to witness this one in person.

      • I mean… I guess I shouldn’t expect you guys to understand this since you think that GA was a drunk wife-beating pimp who owned a pizza parlor and shit.

That report meant we hated our players.

I don’t blame any one of them for leaving as soon as the quarter is over, given that level of disrespect.

    • I deleted the comment.

I asked if Baldwin was impressive.

Yes, agree he’s more impressive than Hall and Smith. There are a lot of emergency retread hires if we strikeout on Baldwin, and those guys would all be better than GA & the Goons. Don’t think it’s as dire as you think unless Riley/Banker are suddenly in the convo. Then it’s dire.

      • I’d actually prefer Smith to Baldwin at this point. I have no basis for that beyond a gut feeling (and I like Baldwin) but I just think Smith would put together a better staff at OSU and the staff is gonna be key for either.

        • There is also the ability to get the boosters invested in the program from the start, I think Smith would achieve that quicker than Baldwin as well.

  61. OSU really needs to reach out to Lane Kiffin, the only HC they are gonna get is someone with baggage (like how WSU got Leach) and Kiffin fits that criteria. None of the other FBS schools seem interested in him (likely due to the baggage); OSU should be all in on Kiffin.

Sadly, I doubt they have even considered him.

    • He’s never been successful as a HC. He can recruit and he can call plays when he’s under Saban’s iron fist but he’s never shown he can run a program.

    • Agree on Kiffin. Beavs have nothing to lose. He was just featured by Football Scoop as best turnaround of 2017 yet they stated unsure if any P5 was quite ready to pull the trigger on him. Then they say shit like next year for sure. That’s a gift gold bar wrapped in cheap newspaper and gives them a realistic shot at the guy while his demand has only creeped forward while the wins for FAU took a huge leap.

Beavs need to desparately shed the nice guy conservative image too. Like DE who had some defensive JC transfer guys with mean streaks and were ferocious. Nice just has equated with patsy for OSU. They would be much better off acting like a lion and get a coach who completely shifts what has been a lousy ‘safe’, conservative culture. Safe barely got OSU 1-11 this year and they were completely outplayed by PSU who ended up winless in the Big Sky.

      Wake the F*ck Up Administrators!

      • Exactly, they need a coach that can back up a fuck the Ducks chant on the O at Autzen. They don’t need to run away from that attitude, they need to embrace it and find a coach that can deliver.

        This program needs an attitude.

  62. I’d like to think that uncle phil’s “team” is buying players but I have no proof so it remains just an “I’d like”.

So with that put to rest I can answer this question very easily and that is this:

If everything else was equal (fuel, insurance, etc.) would I rather drive a Chevrolet or a Rolls-Royce?

    Rolls-Royce.

The ‘uck recruits are being asked to choose between a chevy and a rolls. Can you blame them for choosing the rolls?

    • Yes, but they’re not competing for those recruits against OSU. It’s against Washington, USC, and National programs, and they’re winning…those are all more desirable cities, locations, traditions, etc.

    • BS, they are choosing UO over USC, UW, Alabama, etc….If UO is a Rolls-Royce they are turning down Bentley’s and Aston Martin’s for that Rolls-Royce. And I’d argue UO isn’t even a Rolls-Royce when compared to those other schools. It maybe a mid-range BMW.

    • Well, I have proof they bought a basketball recruit. I called the FBI hotline when they were investigating this and reported it twice, yet no call back…I told them I had names, the amount of money exchanged, etc.

      • Yeah… Stubblefield isn’t “connected” in terms of a slush fund. Altman distanced himself from a recruiting visit intentionally because of this.

    • Nebraska got their Jonathan Smith? Shocking…..

Note: I am not saying Smith is equal or better than Frost just that its essentially the same thing. The former QB coming home.

Doubt Moos had to do a whole lot to convince Frost to take the job he would have taken 3 years ago and every year since.

    • I’m not convinced Frost will take them to the promised land. Might win 8 or 9 games, but they had that in Bo and went for Riley. Lol. I think Frost will be good…9 wins. He won’t be winning titles. Nebraska is just not a desirable location, and their tradition was 25 to 100 years ago. Their fans are delusional and won’t accept that, so they’ll sour on Frost eventually, too, but I think he’ll have a much longer leash since he’s one of them.

      • I think Frost himself understands that to some degree, I thought he might go to Florida. Greater long term upside. He’s not going to put up with a lot of this Husker nonsense, he’s kind of grumpy bastard.

  63. According to a source close to the situation, Oregon State assistants were not relieved of their duties today in their meeting with Scott Barnes, who told them OSU is looking to secure a head coach by early next week.— Danny Moran (@DannyJMoran) November 26, 2017</
