  1. Realistic… the program was completely dismantled to below the foundation when Riley left. The first individual brought in to start the re-design was flawed (still not exactly sure what went on there). You also had to pay off debts for past basketball coaches that were flawed, contracts had to be honoured. Games were scheduled for pure financial reasons to get out of debt. It’s done, that dark part of Beaver history is in the past .

Now comes the rebuilding process, it’s going to be some years before this program is competitive, but it will be rebuilt (look at WASU). The new coach will grow into this job, and as he grows so will the program, recruits will come as an identity is formed. The Beavers will rise again.

  2. The meltdown over on the Benny’s house forum is amusing if anyone wants a good laugh. Bunch of old dudes bragging about being better fans, due to their age, and applauding effort over wins like that matters.

  3. *shrug*

I’ll expect them to win when they win. Like, more than a few games. Until then, I don’t. I expect they’ll be bad again next year, too. Probably year after, and the year after that, too.

    • And to be clear, I’m fairly apathetic about it. I stopped investing much emotion into the team in the last of the Riley years. It’s not like I’m playing.

  4. YaHOOOOOOOOOO! Finally.
I have had a bottle of champagne sitting in the back of my fridge that has been toted back and forth to the Axe game since the last victory in 2003. Just popped the bottle. Man does that taste SWEET. Fuck the Badgers!

  5. Talent!

Oh, and Angry the U Conn set record for all time worst defense this year. We had to be right on their tales I would think. Story on ESPN.com

        • Excellent lesson for this team. A 14 point lead early, and being in front for all but about 5 minutes, gals will remember that no lead is enough till the final buzzer.

Remember, Rueck credits the first loss (3 years ago??) to ND for helping his gals improve.
ND owns the series 4-0……….maybe we’ll see ’em again this year.

          • Very similar to the home loss last season as the Beavs led the game until midway through 4th last year when ND got the lead and closed it out. But it is a good sign that this team can play with the best this early in the year with a fairly weak post play.

    • Rueck explained in post game that a T was called but reversed. That T was for him stepping on the court, reversed when it was noted that a media time out was in effect.

Other T was, I believe, due to something Rueck said. He mentioned that the game seemed “choppy”, indicating that the officiating seemed inconsistent. Got to be careful when commenting on officials, would love to hear uncensored remarks.

How about the ND gal who held three fingers in the face of Beav player after making a three? I’ll take Warren’s word for it, I’m not paying for the stream.

Warren may have been tired, too. He seemed to do a better job on the Men’s games in the Virgin Islands. He certainly is better at basketball than baseball.

    • Wonder if part of that was fatigue? They were playing South Carolina down to the wire less than 24 hours ago while Notre Dame had a pretty easy game earlier in the day.

      • Could be. Im thinking the team still needs to catch up to Slocums speed. Shes a half a step ahead of everyone, and fatigue compounds that.

    • I think they’ll be good, but don’t have any firepower in the paint, so that will likely cap their upside. This is probably the weakest OSU team in the paint since Hamblin’s sophomore year? Anyway, I think it will show when they come up against elite teams like ND. OSU gave up 35 offensive rebounds in the last two games, and were out-rebounded in both. That hasn’t happened much the past several years. They got lucky with S Carolina as they gave that one away to OSU at the free throw line. Was hoping Aquino would come in a help fill the huge hole in the middle that Gulich left, but it seems unlikely she’ll see the floor this year, if ever.

        • Officially, she has an undisclosed medical condition that is keeping her out this season. It’s more precautionary than anything else and hopefully it gets better with time. If we had her, the sky would be the limit. She is as smooth as silk and has the potential to be the type of impact player that generally goes to UConn.

        • Just internet rumors, but nothing solid. But…If she sits out many more games the team would be better to redshirt her rather than use up a year of eligibility with a good part of the season already gone.

  6. Texas Tech is firing head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Have seen Jim Leavitt’s name on the list for both TT and Colorado now. Seems like a decent chance he ends up getting poached by some team during the upcoming coaching musical chairs we see every offseason. Might be good news to those hoping to see oregon’s recruiting class take a hit

  7. Just saw the BeavRecruiting tweet with the most recent championship for each school in the conference. Beavs having to lug all this Pac-12 dead weight around! ;-)

  8. Big 12 fills Jerryworld

    Levi half empty

I know it is apples to oranges but still not a great look.

PAC needs to put game back at highest seeds stadium.
