Watch out this could be a trap game. Late start, small apathetic crowd of elderly season ticket holders that start leaving early; add in a quarterback controversy. If Hawaii doesn’t be careful they could be upset.
Opps….. forgot my score. This will be the annual cluster F game. i.e. Idaho, Sac State and EWU. Beavs fumble, stumble and choke their way into a 28-24 loss. Sorry.
I think this game were going to see some of what Smith is really about. On offense he and Lindgren really like to ATTACK what the defense gives you. For example if you are stacking the box you have fewer people covering receivers. The smart/conservative move is to use screens and delays until the defense backs off a bit. The aggressive move is to use lack of coverage to your advantage. If they stick to what they have been doing then I think this game we see how this works. In a way its a very strong strategy that only the best teams with the best o-lines use.
Look like we are taking out frustrations from last weeks loss. All phases seem to the clicking and players are jazzed up. Let’s see if we can keep it up.
I was just thinking, does Gebbia get the start, as the incumbent, when he comes back? Nolan is playing great right now, it’s tough to bench a red hot QB.
Crossing routes are getting us. See if Hawaii exploits that more in 2nd half, or if we make adjustments.
Lack of running back talent I think will be the story of the Beavs this year, more than the QB drama going on now.
I said it last year. He got happy feet and curled in a ball several times last year. Likely just not in the system long enough. Guy looks legit tonight.
Quitoriano is a load. Did anyone think he wasn’t out of bounds the last drive? We were all wondering why the blew the whistle when he was bowling over guys.
Being a beav fan has advantages. My wife wanted me to stop drinking and go to bed but I was able to avoid scorn by pointing out it might be our only win. #Beavs
Tibs has to go… every year 3rd and long is a fucking layup for the opposition.. it’s like 3rd and long.. ok we have them right where we want em! It shouldn’t be that way
Well i missed on the score but that’s 250+ rushing boys, msn and any ladies. Baylor having a massive game with 171 yds, 3 tds and averaging an incredible 9.5 a carry. Fumbled too I guess
Is Hawaii taking a TO to review why they aren’t taking a knee, and are instead letting their developing young men take unnecessary hits in an unwinnable game?
Nope. Dude looked sharp. Throws the ball where it’s easy to catch and shows some leadership and moxie. Put me on the Nolan bandwagon, even when Gebbia is healthy.
Well it’s a win. Nolan is good, Gould is good, receivers as a whole are good. D-line gets some pressure, DBs are bad. D coaching is still suspect. How many times are we going to let Robert’s cover their best receiver? Make a fucking adjustment. But I guess Robert’s can actually tackle so it’s give and take on that one.
Still terrible tacklers, still don’t look for the ball, still out of position. It’s not like it’s new either. It’s a continuing problem for the last several years.
The tackling pisses me off the most. Plenty of opportunities to catch guys in the flats for losses and they get juked or totally wiff constantly.
Gould was impressive. Fast, reliable, and great hands. Great chemistry with Nolan too – maybe from being on the 2s together? I loved the TD pass to Gould. He was covered pretty well but the pass was high enough that only he could get it (and he made a nice catch and did).
Cool and kind of random that at this point our top two WR are Oregonians.
Nolan played great today. Was weird that our offense was so ineffective for how well he played. Lots of OL penalties and boneheaded RB plays. Think Baylor’s our clear best option though he’s not amazing. Maybe a Storm Woods comp? Lowe is fast but has horrible vision. Fenwick was horribly slow (and didn’t seem to have great vision either).
1. Nolan should be the starter. Period. End of story.
Can Gebbia take a medical redshirt?
2. RB’s, Baylor is the clear 1 even with the fumble. I’ve seen zero from anyone else.
3. Seriously defense? Why does 3rd down continue to be a problem?
4. Ditch the fucking 3-4 and go back to a 4-3 base.
5. Tibesar needs to go and fucking now. I’ve seen enough.
Couldn’t disagree more on point 4. Look at our rushing yards given up this year. You think you’re mad about the secondary tackling but you would be way more pissed with us giving up 200 yards of rushing on the edges every game.
I think 3. stems from the fact that we desperately need Hodgins back. He is probably our best pass rushing DT and we’re simply too thin at that position to finish sacks (Schad will be pretty good). I will concede that some of the matchups we put our linebackers on are questionable and that falls on Tibs, but when you can’t reliably get to the quarterback on every down, you have to accept that truth and try different things.
The encouraging thing is that although it took three seasons, it looks like the Beavers have turned the corner on defending the run. We can credit the deep linebacking corps and the addition of Sio to the D-line. It is my personal belief that if we keep healthy and Hodgins comes back to be an effective pass rusher, this team can win the North.
The secondary is a little concerning but they’re going to get better every game (particularly Julian and Wright). I think we’ll see a big step against Idaho in terms of execution on defense and it will set us up well for the trip to LA.
“I will concede that some of the matchups we put our linebackers on are questionable and that falls on Tibs, but when you can’t reliably get to the quarterback on every down, you have to accept that truth and try different things.”
Exactly the reason they need to ditch the 3-4. Don’t have the D line personnel to effectively run that scheme. Maybe even a 4-2-5 scenario is an option. IDK. I stand by my statement. Go back to a 4-3 base, get more pressure up front.
Forgot to mention Julian in my above post. Dude is a gamer and played well last night. He stood out on D the most IMO.
Idaho is shit and better be a blowout win. UW and Arizona are also fucking trash. Unfortunately don’t play the mildcats this season. Last time USC was this ripe for the picking at the Colisuem was early 2000’s. I forget the year but the Beavs dropped an OT game down there because the kicker (Cesca?) couldn’t make a FG to save his fucking life. Still haven’t forgotten that heartbreaker…….
I was really hoping that the defense would put its foot down and have a dominating performance to prove that they “turned the corner”. Tonight was a little disappointing because of the DB play and tackling. There were matchup mistakes that were also present in the Purdue game, and that falls on Tibs for not putting our guys in position.
Some fun PFF ratings (yes, I know opposition matters):
Good
-Nolan is the top rated QB in the PAC-12
-Bradford is the top rated WR in the country
-Loecher is the #3 punter in the country
-Julian is our top rated defensive player by a wide margin (followed by Rawls)
Bad
-Lowe has a pass blocking rating of 1 on a 1-100 scale. That means he’s made the worst possible play every time he’s been asked to block.
-angry’s boy Musgrave is our worst rated offensive starter
Pass defense is pretty bad but our rush defense has been great. 88 yards in both games this year. If the tackling was clean Hawaii would have had about 100 less pass yards.
3 sacks, 9 QB hurries, 7 tackles for a loss, 2 INT. Not bad pressure numbers. I think defenses will always, whether consciously or not, have a tendency to play lax when their offense is scoring with ease. Hawaii probably got a few extra possessions than normal as well due to how easyily we scored.
Nope. Our rush defense is stomping the edges. Almost all successful (positive) runs are right down the middle into roberts and speights. You guys have way too short of memories watching us give up hundreds of yards a season on the edges.
Hawaii only ran for 88 yards……. Because they fell behind by 21 points and had to become married to the pass.
Had Hawaii not started poorly and fell behind by 21, anyone confident OSU would’ve won a shootout against them?
After quarter 1 the scoring was…………..Hawaii 27, Beavs 24.
The problem yesterday was the defense. Or lack of. Purdue is also weak offensively and that will be evident once they start playing more quality opponents. Anyone that thinks they finish in the top half of the B1G needs their head examined. This Saturday they will be exposed.
If you take out the qb scrambles they rushed for 40 yards. Their rbs averaged 2.3 yds per carry.
If you add back in the qb they averaged 3.0 yds a carry. Run defense was dominant.
One game against Hawaii isn’t enough to cement anyone anywhere. I’m sure if lindsay was healthy he would’ve put up big numbers in this game as well. Champ had good numbers against them 2 years ago.
I thought Smith and Lindgren called a good game, especially on that clock eating drive to close out the game.
The crazy thing about that cat video is the crowd’s reaction; the ebb and flow of the screams is reminiscent of that scene in “It’s Wonderful Life” when Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed dance close to and away from the edge of the floor/into the pool.
He did – up 14-0 in the 1Q just past mid field. It’s a call I’d have made too – optimal situation & field position for it. kind of in the Chip Kelly model of burying an opponent that you’re already outplaying badly.
It’s nice to see the “scripted” portion of the game go really well (21-0 in first quarter) basically dominated the first half. I’m seeing emphasis on stopping the run similar to what Nuke is saying, bend don’t break and let them beat you with the pass. Secondary got two picks, which is nice to see….if Beavs can sustain better clock eating drives with the run, the D stats would look better….although I wouldn’t expect the score differential to be much different.
Good game. Encouraging to see Nolan play so well. If he can continue to improve then my outlook for Beavs is much better. Plus, the conference looks way weaker than expected. RB and receiver play is also encouraging. Defense played well despite some scheme and poor coaching calls.
A few observations:
1. Chance played well especially in the beginning. He started 13-13 but then went only 8-16 after the defense made adjustments and the scripted drives were through. I want to see him be strong against a pac 12 team to know that he’s really arrived. Still struggles a little bit with accuracy at times but is good enough to give the receivers a chance to make a play.
2. Baylor obviously had a good game. Would like to see him have a little bit better balance and stay on his feet better.
3. Oline was pretty good but also still having run plays that go nowhere.
4. Good game from Gould. We’ve been hearing about him on camp and made the most of his opportunities. It was against Hawaii tho and he was acting pretty cocky for it being the first time he’s done anything.
5. Defense still tackles poorly. Grant especially I’ve noticed. Pretty disappointing have been playing for so long and a captain.
6. Pressure was good and getting more negative plays.
7. There was about 3 or 4 dropped picks that need to be caught. Those would be the difference makers in pac 12 games.
8. Middle of the field in the passing game is a huge weakness.
Dude what are you talking about? Who criticized him? I said he did well. You just want to argue. I was just saying I want to see a body of work and I’m not going to call him a superstar after 1 game. Get defensive much?
Yeah he only has what? 4.5 games under his belt? What I’ve see in his decision making and how he’s grown in those games suggests he could be an legendary player at OSU. But it’s a process that takes time; not everyone can be like Bryce Young or Spencer Rattler or CJ Stroud and blow up the scoreboard in their first few collegiate starts.
I mean, he’s that one unfortunate fumble away from beating Stanford last year and ending that disgusting losing streak. When have the Beavs had a QB with his skill set and utilized it? He was patient, checking down and running when needed. He’s a keeper in my book. Plus three more years, right? 4th-year Sophomore?
I wondered why Jermar didn’t play today for the Lions. Inactive coach’s decision. Sounds like when all four RB’s are healthy, Jefferson sits as another back is good on special teams.
Interesting name i see popping up today. Coach Adams has recently started following former USC Trojan 4* Safety CJ Pollard.
Last year, he left USC and grad transferred to Utah State for his final year. Except he never actually played. Plus it was the free Covid year eligibility wise. So just an assumption here, but he must have the rest of this season remaining and isn’t currently on any rosters. Will be interesting to see if OSU is actually pursuing him for some defensive depth.
A big time safety would be huge. Currently have a couple of former walk ons there. Granted they have played above that level but Grant has misses quite a few tackles already this year and I’m not sure Oladapo is very good in coverage. Julian is starting to play well so that’s a huge boost. Really seems to be clicking for him and I felt tackling was his weakness. It sure wasn’t last game! He was really flying to the ball.
CAREER: He has 16 tackles, including 2.5 for losses (with 0.5 sack), and a deflection in his career. He has appeared in 15 games in his career, with 1 start.
Maybe Helton couldn’t figure out how to get him going?
Need a dominating performance today
I hope your personal need was met yesterday…but how about that football game?
Watch out this could be a trap game. Late start, small apathetic crowd of elderly season ticket holders that start leaving early; add in a quarterback controversy. If Hawaii doesn’t be careful they could be upset.
35-30 beavs… offense continues to tune-up.
With you Strange ! Gonna be closer than expected!
I’d love to be too pessimistic, go beavs!
45 – 20 beavs. 250+ rushing. Chance shows his comfort level in the system.
Opps….. forgot my score. This will be the annual cluster F game. i.e. Idaho, Sac State and EWU. Beavs fumble, stumble and choke their way into a 28-24 loss. Sorry.
When did we lose to Idaho??
Anyone there? How’s it
Lolohea in street clothes
Tyjon out as well
No gumbs either. Pretty much resigned to him not playing again. Too bad. Hope he can get healthy for whatever his future holds.
Maybe it would be easier to post a list of who is playing.
It’s on fs2
So they moved the game to foxsport2 which I don’t get. Sweet. Probably for the best I guess.
Out route to Trevon, fuck yes.
Nolan is already way better than Noyer, He nailed 2 receivers. Gould Showing his speed in spades.
Bandit and Nuc, check your emails.
I got nothing.
Check spam.
Slant to Gould. Much better
Nolan 3/3 52 yards.
Beavs up 7-0
Crazy legs gives zero shits. TD baby
“The Wild Jack” as Crazy Legs Colletto scores.
https://prolive.tv/channel/fox-sports-2
Live stream. Tested and working
Thanks!
Offense steers strong. Defense looks terrible. Can’t tackle.
It will get better. Remember this is the scripted portion of the evening.
Yes yes. Gotta let the beavs start slow. I know the sad story.
Bend but don’t break ain’t bad
Specially when it features a sack. Sharpe navigated that one very well.
Baylor 66 yard TD. 14-0.
250+ baby. Nolan looking like a great manager rn. Much better than last season.
In what universe was Noyer better? I’d like to live there. I’d be awesome.
Bruh in that universe I’m Brad Pitt.
The elusive practice world that is in the same realm of game time I guess…
One where he’s not playing against a power 5 defense with a first round pick DE maybe.
Did we really just see a check down throw by Nolan?? Woah man haven’t seen that in years.
Gumbs cheerleading on the sideline.
Wearing #15 if I heard correctly, anyone there to report how he looks??
Look like we are taking out frustrations from last weeks loss. All phases seem to the clicking and players are jazzed up. Let’s see if we can keep it up.
This definitely looks like a blowout opportunity. Hawaii looks awful.
Besides Hawaii’s opening series I agree, they look terrible.
Has Todd graham’s head exploded yet?
If only we’d have started Nolan last week…
We were never going undefeated. Its gonna be alright.
Weapons this game so far. Baylor, Harrison, Bradford and Gould.
Beason made that catch look crazy easy but he literally stole a bad floaty pass from the defender. That guy is gonna be amazing.
Nolan should have led him a bit more but a touchdown is a touchdown
Nolan is pretty good. Now I see why Oklahoma State and Utah offered him. TD to put the Beavs up 21.
Much more comfortable in the system now. He is 200% better than last year.
and now Beason.
Vidlak in the fourth?
Can anyone name the last beav QB who went 9 for 9 to open a game?
More research that I want to do. I’ll just say Baker lol
I have no idea. My guess is around the time they started using face masks.
Mark Radford?
I know it wasn’t Ian Shields
Missed the entire 1st qtr due to this last minute channel change. Wtf? How does this happen?
Our qb can hit the broad side of a planet. Helps a ton when the qb goes 9/9
It’s such bullshit
Schad siting!
Great discipline from Anderson
3rd and long yet again.
Its gonna happen. Hawaii is having to work very hard for yards.
it happens way too often and way to easy.
3rd and 12 are you kidding me
defense looked silly
LBs looked weak and behind on that drive.
Grant has missed a lot of tackles already this season. He missed like 4 last game.
Man, Nolan is so much better than Noyer, and possibly Gebbia. Good decision making and good productivity.
Is brewer a regular starter on the o line?
No, backup
Nolan might be our best dual threat ever. He should hurdle more though.
it happens way too often and way to easy.
weird. this comment reposted from earlier. must be the Woodford
11 for 11 now. Has to be some sort of record. We’re in uncharted territory.
Is it success? Idk how I feel about our trajectory. So uncomfortable when our QB doesn’t suck ass.
Not very impressed with Fenwick. He could be a brutal grinder late game though.
Idk why FS2 has an INT on Nolans stat line. Not real.
I was just thinking, does Gebbia get the start, as the incumbent, when he comes back? Nolan is playing great right now, it’s tough to bench a red hot QB.
Don’t want to be JS in that situation.
Fuck no! Not if Nolan keeps this up!
Oof, gebbia comes back and noyer gets the start. The old reverse double river boat special.
No he wouldn’t bench him if he’s playing this good. Hawaii is terrible tho if he can do this against USC then he’s arrived.
This. Relax everyone, this is just Hawaii.
now switching back to FS1? Clown show
Could this be the year we best Washington? That is a game we should win. That would not be an upset.
What the fuck kind of head down tackle was that?
Julian looking good so far
Julian looks great.
That was a nice PI the refs missed. They still owe us about 4879612 more.
And Captain Grant
Always loved him. Had him as 2nd highest 3-star in the 2020 class.
That pump and drop to Gould was poetry.
Not going to have that time against a good team but it was crafty. Stop throwing whatever route that is to musgrave.
Its an error on their state line. NOt real
I’ll always enjoy highlights of an Ohio State loss.
Wow. PAC-12 has some horrible fucking teams this year
Luck o da Beavs?
Crossing routes are getting us. See if Hawaii exploits that more in 2nd half, or if we make adjustments.
Lack of running back talent I think will be the story of the Beavs this year, more than the QB drama going on now.
Sharp wasn’t sure what to do after he caught that. Lol
He did the best thing. Lay down and hold on! haha
Nice adjustment out of half time by Tibs dropping coverage to the hook curl zone they kept killing us on late in the half.
Man I was completely lost on that BJ TD. I had no clue who had the ball until he was 15 yards deep.
Good Adjustment by TIBs. Speights is on the QB every play.
Does Wright PI on every pass?
Not called everytime lol
Stover is fast and long as hell. NB has good instincts on that guy.
The turnover chainsaw had a real motor a couple years ago. Wonder what happened.
Lawyers
Who got that 2nd interception?
Austin
Nolan might be the starter once Gebbia is back.
Per Ron Callan, Gebbia slight limp tonight. I won’t be surprised if he isn’t ready till UW or even later.
Even a riverboat gambler knows when to ride the hot hand.
Why go backwards? Nolan has shown more.
Wasn’t that the first tipped ball from Chance?
Yes. None last year that I remember. He had a higher release point than gebbia
What? Had quite a few.
The Utes bringing their 4th qtr rally against the fighting Joseph smiths like they always do.
We’re trending very close to UCLA in this game. They are the hottest team in the conference.
We were until now. They never gave Hawaii any life. Also they were in the backfield all night and ran the ball at will. This is now anyone’s game.
Brewer lookin’ to take the job from Kipper.
I don’t mind that. If he performs better then let him have it. Kipper is probably the most penalized player over the last 3 years.
Damnit bj
Ma boy, Musgrave.
That was TQ. Musgrave hasn’t been targeted yet
Hahaha. Oops.
Lol.
JULIAN!!!
Wright didn’t hold his man for the first time this season, and he ended up wide open for the TD…
He should get back to holding
And OSU starts being OSU.
I’m scared
Need to finish strong or this isn’t a good win.
This team just doesn’t have that expect to win and dominate mentality. This game is now up for grabs
I think you have to win a few games to get that. Nolan knows how to draw a target GD.
This is where a run game would come in handy.
Shit. Barely missed
Did Riley tap in for JS at the half?
Commentary in the first quarter:
“No one back can replace Jefferson, these three will have to add up to him!”
Commentary in ths 3rd Q:
“Immediately give the ball back to the guy who just fumbled!”
Give poor Petros a break. He has proven thousands of times that he is 2nd hand talent.
I kind of like him. Very unique.
I’ve loved him ever since he helped us beat USC! Worst starting RB they have ever had!
I legit love him as a p12 announcer. Very obvious he loves the conference and has deep knowledge of the history.
I believe his dad is, in some circles, a well known jazz singer.
Beavs outplayed since end of 1st
One more TD and my score will be spot on.
Sorry boss, gonna be 45-20
Nolan thumbs up after that targeting hit, moxie helps establish a leader.
100% I’ve been saying we need a leader at QB, with moxie, like Moevao! Finally seeing seeing bit of that tonight
It is nice to have a QB that can make an important throw when needed and not just sail one 5 feet over someone’s head.
Nolan is way too fearless. That was a good penalty but dude was almost decapitated.
Wasn’t the criticism of him that he fears getting hit?
Maybe last year. He’s far more comfortable in the offense this year.
I never saw anyone say that. Maybe in the pocket gets happy feet?
I said it last year. He got happy feet and curled in a ball several times last year. Likely just not in the system long enough. Guy looks legit tonight.
BJ trying to put that fumble in the rear view mirror, two 9 yd runs in a row then a first down.
Everyone but quiz drops it sometimes. Get it out of his system against Hawaii is fine with me if he learns from it for p12
Musgrave standing around not blocking anyone.
We’re gonna need some analysis of all three RBs at some point. I kinda think Baylor is the worst, but has had the best blocking, personally.
If Lowe has any vision at all he would be insane. Keeps running straight into the tackler.
Ma boy, Musgrave!
Oops.
This is the best running joke in the site’s history.
Lolol! I get it TQ looks great against non-P5 talent
Whsts thatcsay about the others?
I can’t believe we haven’t hit a TE on a delay over the middle in this zone d. Musgrave has to be able to out jump on of those short LBs.
Lindgren really doesn’t like YAC
Or We could just throw to Gould. I literally had no idea who he was before this game. Kids a gamer.
He’s very very fast. If he would have participated in track his senior year he would have won state in the 100 and 200.
Nice to see downfield blocking for TQ on that wide open catch.
The receivers have come alonnnnggg way. Obvious that the competition has brought the talent forward.
USC getting run out of the Coliseum by Stanford. Helton may not make it to game 4…Beavs have a shot to get USC maybe?
They’ll rally around the interm coach like they did with Orgeron. Right in time to play us.
Shhhhhhhh. We’re winning. No one wants reality
Quitoriano is a load. Did anyone think he wasn’t out of bounds the last drive? We were all wondering why the blew the whistle when he was bowling over guys.
Judging by past performances he probably just wanted to hit a few more guys and didn’t give a shit if he was out haha
Being a beav fan has advantages. My wife wanted me to stop drinking and go to bed but I was able to avoid scorn by pointing out it might be our only win. #Beavs
Same!
Austin got lucky there lol
34 nowhere near being in position to stop the wildcat. After getting torched on that RB flare route.
38-27, Tibs cannot be happy, need to answer with a time eating drive to a TD
Fire Tibs
So it is written. So it shall be done.
Tibs has to go… every year 3rd and long is a fucking layup for the opposition.. it’s like 3rd and long.. ok we have them right where we want em! It shouldn’t be that way
I’m starting to agree. I like the 3-4 but the shitty tackling is getting very old.
Hawaii over 400 yds and still over 10 min left. Shouldn’t be this close of a game. Tackling has been pretty poor yet again. 3rd and long a cake walk.
Omg take champ off of kick returns!
Colletto returning is also hilarious. He gets 3 yards every time.
If he fair catches it goes to the 25. Probably better than we get with champ on average.
Put Gould in there.
Noticed with Schad out there, there’s a lot less Sio.
I noticed that too. Sio has only been in about 20% of snaps and there is definitely less push.
Time to “establish an identity!” Go Beavs!!!
Ma boy, Harrison!
Why did they throw a fade to champ when they need to run the clock? Terrible decision by Nolan.
Dafuck. How was that not PI on Musgrave? Petros even said he got punched in the face.
Ya just horrible!
The Wild Jack powering for a 1st.
Has Colletto ever done anything other than run up the middle on the wildcat? I remember Quizz throwing once or twice…
Yes.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
I’m gonna miss crazy legs. Zero regard for self
Preservation.
He’s a national treasure.
Only a junior, though, so we get one more year of his madness.
All this Colletto stuff really gives opponents something to spend time on at practice.
omg I love the dude celebrating at the broken up pass, not realizing he was called for an obvious PI. So great lol
Lol.
Take the wins when you can lol
ffs just hand it to Baylor
Ask and ye shall receive.
You really are a zen beav.
Ommmmmmmm
That should do it. Good win. This is the offense I expected to see last week.
We can’t even win by 17 without making some fans panic. Pavlovian.
Pavlovian?…….seems clear eyed to me….given the competition.
And then give up a 4th and 10 first down, Tibs has work to do.
Gave up eat toosny points and yards defensively. It’s going to be a long season.
WTF….gave up too many points and yards.
Sorry. Using ‘eat toosny points’ for later.
Duh….stop effing around on the goal line. Run BJ. thank you.
I’m callling it now. Musgrave blows up the back end of the season and ends up with 600 yds and 7 tds. TQ gets a free agent contract with San Fran
Jesus, Peterson looks like a ventriloquist dummy. Yikes.
No?
Close to my 44-24.
Is there any question now about Chance Nolan?
Hell no man. He was efficient as fuck.
Nope. Dude looked sharp. Throws the ball where it’s easy to catch and shows some leadership and moxie. Put me on the Nolan bandwagon, even when Gebbia is healthy.
And I know… it was Hawaii, not Pac12 level competition. Don’t care. He was “it”
Yes. Can he do it week in week out against the pac 12 teams?
Holy shit we stopped a 4th and 18.
DB’s are inconsistent, could be good……but, yeah, their not good tonight. Some credit to HI QB.
Watched a little bit of Appalachian state hoping they’d beat Miami. They could tackle. It’s not a talent issue it’s a coaching/practice issue.
When’s the last time the Beavs scored in ALL four quarters!?!?!
Last year vs Oregon…. Goofy.
Cool. Poindexter.
To clarify- offense was good overall. Just seems like it should have been better with a QB playing lights out.
I know it was Hawaii, but….
Not gonna give credit to an ass kisser……
“Oregon State’s record for consecutive pass completions is 15, set by Matt Booher in 1989.”
Musgrave seriously needs to work on his blocking. That said he was 2 uncalled PI from a 70 yard game. Guy is going to blow up in the passing game.
Funny. I was going to nitpick Loechers punting into the end zone instead of pinning opponents inside the 20. His average is nice though.
Hawaii probably got a few extra possessions than normal as well due to how easyily we scored.
d had 30 some pass breakups…just not on 3rd down
check that might of been around 20, but still a lot
Agree with the comment above that we need to ditch the 3-4. The pros can barely run it successfully.
Nope. Our rush defense is stomping the edges. Almost all successful (positive) runs are right down the middle into roberts and speights. You guys have way too short of memories watching us give up hundreds of yards a season on the edges.
We’ll give up hundreds of yards up the middle once we play good teams.
What evidence supports that? Why wouldn’t you want the offense going straight at the best tacklers on the team?
All it takes is one or two OL getting to that level and neutralizing the MLB’s. That was the story of our year last year.
Speights and Robert’s were nullified last year? Check that stat line buddy.
Where were they making those tackles?
5 to 10 yards down field on average. That’s what they call a successful running game.
It’s meant to stop spread passing offenses. Should serve us well against USC and WSU, but the other matchups are concerning.
Thank God we don’t play UCLA this year.
Does Gould replace Lindsey moving forward? Should at least replace Champ’s reps.
We have a great problem at wideout right now. We have 5 guys that are all capable of 100 yard games against P5 and not enough starting spots.
Does anyone remember an offense that had this much speed?
2001 maybe?
Wheaton/Cooks era was pretty speedy.
One game against Hawaii isn’t enough to cement anyone anywhere. I’m sure if lindsay was healthy he would’ve put up big numbers in this game as well. Champ had good numbers against them 2 years ago.
@ in OH. What’s the pff ranking of the qbs we have faced so far?
Both are really high. Plummer is top 20 nationally (against OSU and UCONN) and Cordero is pretty high up there.
That’s probably more a reflection of our D at this point.
We’ll find out next week. Idaho’s qbs are not impressive.
Cordero was highly ranked after UCLA, so I think he’s legitimately good.
My theory is both of them are pretty good and basically carried their teams.
In other news, that video of the fans catching the falling feline at the game in Miami yesterday is the best cat video of all time.
thats wild
whats crazier the cat catch or JS not going for it on any 4th downs?
After tonight, I feel a lot better about OSU’s chances at USC, simply because we have a QB that can win us games.
Purdue could probably beat every team in the PAC this year, and Nolan did well vs them. You seem to just want to criticize him.
Dude what are you talking about? Who criticized him? I said he did well. You just want to argue. I was just saying I want to see a body of work and I’m not going to call him a superstar after 1 game. Get defensive much?
Lolol.
He’s the best scrambling qb we have had.
Seth was our best throwing RB.
Lindsay is our best passing WR.

So the Jets seem to have made a mistake drafting Zach Wilson.
Actually he looks pretty good.
20-37 and 250+ isn’t great for a debut, but the Jets have absolutely no run game. 17 rushes for 45 yards.
I wondered why Jermar didn’t play today for the Lions. Inactive coach’s decision. Sounds like when all four RB’s are healthy, Jefferson sits as another back is good on special teams.
Pretty good prediction. Nailed the +18 point win.
Always nice to add a player. If he was going to Utah state I don’t think he was living up to his four star potential. I could be wrong.
CAREER: He has 16 tackles, including 2.5 for losses (with 0.5 sack), and a deflection in his career. He has appeared in 15 games in his career, with 1 start.
Maybe Helton couldn’t figure out how to get him going?
