  1. I’m going with a 31-24 Beavs win! Hopefully they can blow them out but cal isn’t as bad as their record suggests like people have been saying and I doubt vegas is way off. Biggest thing I’d like to see is a good game from chance and improved defense. Some more takeaways would be fun! Or another blocked punt.

Also Remigio always kills us. Need to keep an eye on him at all times and don’t give him a chance to return any punts.

  2. Beavs need to give Cal a heavy dose of Baylor and wear them down. Play field position and force Bears to go the length of the field and turnovers will come.

Beavs run away form Cal in second half 45-17

  3. My memory is garbage but I think my prediction was 35-17 and if not that’s what I’m changing it to. The boys should be hungry for a bowl and beyond.

  4. Brendon Lewis and Colorado offense just keep stacking up the yards and pts on this oregon defense. The score won’t reflect it, but their offense actually played pretty well today after they cleaned up the false start and holding penalties.
Not sure of that is Colorado playing well, or oregon’s having a weak defense. I mean, ESPN keeps reminding me their defense is full of stars, so it must be good

  5. that’s a nice view from up on the hill down into the stadium bowl. Almost as many people up there as in the midfield section of the stadium.

  6. That’s where the call in the field really hurts you. He should’ve been down but refs are told to let the play go and that screwed us.

    Arnold already fucking up.

  7. Should’ve came out and ran it 3 straight times. Especially when you pick up 5 on first. The lowe play was high percentage and would’ve been good if he kept his footing tho.

  8. This is what I get for my confidence- We’re getting out coached and out played. Not saying we’re done but we can’t keep spotting the first half without losing more games.

  9. Boy everything that can go wrong has–bs fumble on first drive, poor running, tip into int– and still only down two scores in 1st half.

If the beavs can pull their collective heads outta they ass, this game is very winnable

  10. 2 drops by Beason already including now the pick. I loved him preseason but he’s been absolutely atrocious and needs to sit.

Bench Beason and champ…shouldn’t be this complicated. Gould is better than champ in every way.

  11. Cal has lost two straight to OSU and does NOT want to become the team against whom OSU gains bowl eligibility for the first time in 8 years.

  12. easy to say now, I know, but I thought the predictions of a big Beav blow-out were way off base. Cal is clearly better than their record would indicate. All their losses were close. Beavs have a chance (no pun intended) to pull this out but OSU will need a couple big momentum changers to do it. Like a pick 6 or fumble return, etc.

  13. Bradford talking to Beason on the sidelines. Good to see that senior leadership. Hopefully get his confidence up and calm down the catching yips

    • That’s good to see but I would rather see someone out there in his place. Has done next to nothing aside from tipping 2 balls for interceptions.

man, Cal just gave up that possession. almost equal to a turnover. Beavs are in it. Maybe they can pull away in the second half?

  15. Notice droopy eye doesn’t mention the fumble wasn’t actually a fumble, he is right the beavs are right in this game, still

  16. It looks like it may be on Nolan to win this game with his arm and the defense to stop the Cal run in the 2nd half. The D can’t let Cal suck up 8 minutes of time on their first drive, a 3 and out might swing momentum over to the Beavs for the rest of the game.

  17. Blown coverage. Can’t be making those mistakes. The point of the bend dont break is to not give those up and eventually get a turnover or a penalty that stalls their drive.

  18. Lindgren and Nolan are killing them. Lindgren shouldn’t be calling half these passes and then Nolan is making just awful decisions.

  19. Cal stacks the box, so the passing game should have room to operate, but we throw deep to the guy who in double coverage.
    One of Smith/Lindgren’s uglier games

  20. That Taco Bell commercial is weird. They’re making out and about to get it on, and the girl suddenly needs to go to Taco Bell, get a Taco, and fart/shit the rest of their date?

  21. Man, the beavers just can’t put it all together. Part of that may be just not used to success, the other part I wonder about is the on-field leadership or lack thereof?

  22. Man barely completed that first pass. Then run run run and what do you know. Need to keep doing that and get some stops. Due for a turnover -2 right now with no takeaways.

  23. So our successful drives have all been run heavy outside of the deep ball to Bradford. What is so hard to understand about running the ball? We prefer our qb and the 57% completion percentage? It makes no sense to me.

  24. Wow. Jesus. Tibs makes any offense look like a juggernaut. Lol. How this guy keeps his job is beyond me unless the goal is to be mediocre. Nut up Smith.

  25. If Nolan makes the easy pass on third down this is completely different right now. Instead he throws low, we punt, its blocked, they
throw a td. All because Nolan misses to many routine passes. And our pass defense is bad.

Cal wanted to force the Beavs to throw(for good reason)
We obliged way too early, and now’re we’re actually forced to throw the rest of the game. Cal D is going to be ready to pick ot off now

  27. What’s interesting about that 2PT conversion, and I have no idea if Smith was going two levels deep like this, but maybe it reduces some pressure going for the 2 points there (less pressure) rather than to win the game later on (more pressure).

  28. One sided reffing. Can’t have a personal foul there. Ive seen plenty PI on the bears tho. Theres no way they’ve not committed 1 penalty. Total bs.

    • On that same PI play, I watched an offensive player tackle a defender from the back, stopping him from stopping the RB. I assumed that was the flag…NOPE

Someone tell me, why does the clock keep running after we shoved Garbers out of bounds on 2nd down there?
Not that it matters now, but curious

  30. no penalties, sacks, or TOs given up by CAL… finally a nice D play and holding on conversion lol

game been a complete nightmare and somehow we weren’t even dead till just now

I guess, but Beavs didnt do themselves any favors with the sloppy runs early in the game, slipping down without contact and Beason’s hands leading to a pick and the blocked punt.
I think it’s more a product of missing Julian and Grant early, and the offense getting too pass happy on early drives. That and Garbers being a running threat. Cal isnt great but they’re built to play against our style pretty well on both sides of the ball.

      • I didn’t blame the refs. Just pointing out no penalties is ridiculous aside from the celebration at the end. Don’t try to read so much into comments.

Cal is 11/16 on 3rd. Holy shit. Even for Tibs that’s bad. Cal has scored more tonight than any other game this year except Sac State. Well over season avg in total yards. What a sad showing.

Anyone still defending Tibs at this point is family…or Tibs himself.

  32. the final might be the opposite of what some were predicting.

now that the game has been played for the most part it’s clear that the Beavs could have won with a clean game, specifically, no fumble, no pick, no blocked punt. would have been a close game regardless. Beavs are good, but not great. looks like 7-5 is the top end for this squad.

Truth is reffing did not cost us the game. It wasnt good but truth is we got what we deserved. Cal won the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Tibesar has no clue and Nolan is not a Pac 12 qb.

Stating the obvious, but with more and more film, the remaining teams on the schedule can see the Beavers weaknesses.

Its not entirely impossible for the Beavers to lose out at this point.

    The D sucks.

  35. Since 2018 Cal has scored more than 35 points in a game twice against FBS competition and both games came against the Beavers

So what does this tell us about the program. You break some losing streaks and also lose to wazzu and cal. I’m really looking forward to a better qb being the starter next year. It sure if it’s a personal thing on defense or if it’s coaching. I’m sure some of both.

Honestly, we need to play out the season before you can definitively say we’ve improved in the last three years. We had a bit of bad luck last year and self-inflicted wounds in the 5-win season. The JS era identity has been some form of “good offense, bad defense” every year now.

    • Nolan didn’t play a great game, true, but I don’t think you can pin this loss on him. Baylor, Beason, and your choice of defensive players are better candidates for goat (and I don’t mean greatest of all time)

      • For the record, not blaming the loss on Nolan at all. Giving up 39 points isn’t good d although short field on a couple of those drives. Every game I see Nolan miss open guys or make make a play that I scratch my head. Still early in his career. I hope whoever starts next year at qb is The Guy. If it’s Nolan be better be improved.

  37. Bleedorange21, you’ve clearly been indulging in the “drink every time someone says Tibesar sucks” drinking game. Time to go home.

  38. Lindgren needs to recognize that Nolan is good to pass for about 15 times when the offense rolling running the ball. He’s not the guy that carries the offense. If they ran the shit out of the ball they don’t lose.

  39. After this season, the true indicator of Niner’s intention to actually take OSU to the next level will be his willingness to fire Tibesar (or not)

  40. One of the deepest levels of OSU fan hell must be being forced to watch mediocre Pac-12 quarterbacks scramble for a a 1st down on 3rd and 7 over and over again

    • Heard tibs interview where he said team is good on 3rd and short and 3rd and 20+…just needed to work on 3rd and intermediate, ie 12-16…lol

      • If he thinks his defense is good on 3rd down, we’re in more trouble with Tibs than I thought…and that’s coming from someone who was off the Tibs train in year 1.

    • Its been that way for decades. We are so undisiplined on defense and consistently overrun plays leaving huge gaps for QB’s to run through. Its maddening.

    • I didn’t get to watch the second half. Didn’t need to apparently made the right choice. Been wanting to say it for some time, but Robert’s is legit carrying to defense. Biggest disappointment has been Omar and I like the kid. He just somehow has decide that actually tackling people is against the rules, and arm flailing while running around is better.

Again haven’t seen a play of the second half, just watched uninspired defense and specifically uninspired from anyone outside Robert’s. (Julian as well but he’s out)

  41. Lidngren lost this game before TIbs. If Cal put 7-8 in the box to stop inside run game, why not run fly sweeps or quick passes outside to give Gould a chance to break one.

As long as Flemings is on the field, I don’t actually believe the coaches have realized how good the younger players are. Gould should be given every rep the Flemings is getting, including kick returns. If I were an opposing coach, I would be laughing at the Beavs sending FLemings out there for kick-offs. He is an automatic tackle at the 15 anytime he tries to return it.

I have seen enough of a Tibesar defense. He is not a good DC at this level. JS needs to begin puttiing out feelers for a new DC after this season.

Maybe Vidlak should get a shot at Colorado, alternating possessions. I think Nolan is fool’s gold over time and with additional film teams have solved him.

The next several teams will also stack heavy against the run. Beavs have shown they can still run against it, but it requires a little more creativity than what we saw tonight.

My prediction was correct except Cal flipped it around and the Beavs are somehow still not a very focused team…so much was possible this year and yet they have 3 losses that are actually pretty unexcusable… Poor preparation and poor coaching in all 3 losses. Too bad.

    • Agree with the flemings assessment and that lindgren lost this game. But I think it was more just not coming out and trying to establish the run. I would’ve been happier going three straight runs and getting stopped than continuing to pass all the time. This offense has been good on 3rd downs because it stays ahead of the chains. They need to pass when necessary and every once in awhile to mix it up.

    • It seems Cal is the only school smart enough not to fall to our 1# run defense status. They just gave every team going forward a road map to stomp our asses.

  42. OSU okaying down yo competition is a poor sign. Potentially one step on the progress to consistent play, but painful to watch.

Think Smith said:”We ain’t done yet!” In the locker room after?
