Yes, I was waiting for that announcement because he reached the “secret handshake” agreement with AD Barners that every 10-win-plus season earns Big Tinks another year. We will die in peace knowing Tinkle is the Beav head coach for life!
Whew! Caitlin Clark, post game – thanked family – noted, growing up, she played basketball with her brothers, so she ”probably played like a boy.” Remembered Scott Rueck recruiting and saying wbb players with older brothers were ”like gold.” I think Jamie Weisner was one. You’d assume the brothers were athletic, however.
I noticed South Carolina coach complained about the narrative of her team’s “physical play,” and she’s telling her star to go pro because [paraphrasing] “she can’t play her game at the NCAA level without getting unfair foul calls.’
I remember UO players complaining about foul calls and saying ‘Whatever. I just want to play.” But not within the rules?
The NCAA WBB game risks I think losing what WAS making it an alternative to MBB and NBA; team game, passing, and playing for the joy of the game instead of the self.
Rueck is going to have to patrol a fine line on the former and current trajectory of WBB. He typically doesn’t have players with the mindset of where this game appears to be going in terms of physical play with likely consequent increases in subjectivity of foul calls. The “nice girls that shoot 3’s” won’t cut it, but the apparent trend doesn’t suit what he does.
At least that’s my take on it. Rueck seems to have a young roster of athletic players, i hope he can turn them loose a bit to take advantage of their athleticism without getting into the cheap physical play. They’ll still need to work on TOs and beating the press…
Oh, and Caitlin Clark is apparently considering staying for another year because her local and regional NIL is better than WNBA salary(?).
Geno called out Staley after their game – saying he didn’t know what to call it but it wasn’t basketball. Staley countered by saying he just wasn’t used to being defeated. In yesterday’s game, SC’s star player wrapped her arms completely around an Iowa player and acted surprised when she was called for the foul. It didn’t seem as if Iowa was using SC tactics but I wanted Iowa to win so perhaps I was more forgiving. Colorado (JR Payne’s contract extension statement) wants to be known for physical and aggressive play.
Beavs take game 1, 6-3. Would have been a real heart breaker to lose what with several RISP not cashed in.
Sellers always makes me nervous, good 5 inning effort.
The infamous Mark Buchanan umped at 3rd, not likely to see him behind the plate this series.
Ha ha, Mark Buchanan helps decide video review in Huskies favor. C’mon Mark, the batter clearly dropped his elbow to get hit.
At least he didn’t claim to have been “beaked”…..
Does Mitch have the Beavs playing their best at the right time. Do they look ready to steam roll the back half of the schedule and win another conference championship with these young guys?
For his final year of eligibility. I’m hoping Smith will bring him back as a grad assistant and he’ll want to. I wouldn’t blame him if he stays at Ohio state if given an opportunity.
Yesterday was a surprising result considering the direction both teams were trending. Beavs couldn’t score runs and UW was coming off a series win at UCLA.
Jekyll and Hyde. Hope they can get the sweep today and get back to .500.
Maybe it will teach Mitch how to coach. They needed this sweep and start Weber behind the dish who wouldn’t catch at local Juco and can’t hit his way out of wet paper bag. Wheeler can’t see the ball anymore. Turley needs to figure out what team means. 32K anyone else would be on bench.
Beavs choking it away. Down 4-2 in bottom 6th. 2 on no outs. New pitcher and Dorman in charge with Mitch tossed. Only 4 hits today. Bazanna main reason for the offense this weekend. Outside a few others, this offense has been pretty bad despite the 2 wins.
This shows you they can’t recruit. Better thank Bailey for getting Travis. They have no hitting coach they rely on kids to figure it with all their analytics
Apparently a throw away Sunday game, in an apparent throw away year
For beaver baseball.
Just send in every bench player and all of the freshman arms…yikes
Great to get a series win for sure but man, a sweep would give so much confidence. April is going to be rough. Yucks on the road. USC. ASU on the road. 2 vs Zags. Arizona.
Sad part is they needed a sweep. Now they will be in trouble with the ducks. You can’t throw away any game. The catching and hitting is absolutely miserable to watch.
Whoregon is going to kill us I’m afraid! They swept Arizona on the road, have nearly 40 runs and 40 hits in the series! Beavs can’t match their explosiveness and don’t have the arms to shut them down. FTD!!!!
I sadly have to agree with this. All the P12 teams we face in April avg 7+ runs per game. Zona is a bit under at 6.5ish. Thank God for Bazanna this weekend. He’s accounted for close to half our runs this weekend.
And now the route is on. Down 7-2 in bottom of 8. 2 on and 2 down. Does getting rolled on game 3 take any of the momentum that was gained from a series win?
Lineup and coaching needs to change.
You can’t expect pitching to shut down everyone. Especially with Weber behind the plate. I mean it doesn’t take a genius to know Smith steals allot of strikes and keeps us in the games.
Are we done with the cheesy death throes? Do I need to throw a couple more prop knives on the stage?
We aren’t that good this year, due to obvious pitching weaknesses and a young team in the field.
Fucking relax.
What the hell does that even mean? Was there a chance Gebbia wasn’t going to make the roster or something? I hate Ohio St and their stupid-ass pretentious traditions!
An easy sport to rig because it is so subjective and the score margin can be so thin it doesn’t tak much to be skeptical of the entire sport. I wonder if an SEC school will win that championship on ESPN as well…
I just wonder if Carey will be back next year – since it will be the run-up to Paris. Or if she starts preparing after the season. Don’t know how or if the routines need to be adjsted for international competition. Or there will be too many sponsor obligations to be a full-time student.
Per today’s GT:
“Oregon State will have some big holes to fill in 2024 with the graduation of Dagen, Jenna Domingo, Kristina Peterson and Kayla Bird. Dagen has been a foundational piece for the past several seasons, Domingo has helped anchor the beam rotation and Peterson worked her way back from injury to contribute on the beam and the floor this season.
But the primary question for next year is the status of Carey. In 2022, she competed for Oregon State while also continuing her elite training. Her efforts were rewarded with individual and team gold medals at the world championships last fall.
Carey wants to represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, which will once again require elite training. The unanswered question is how this will impact her ability to compete for Oregon State during the 2024 collegiate season.
“We’re going to see how things go. We’re going to figure out what is the best approach for her to reach her goal to make the Olympic Games. I know she’ll be here training, that’s for sure,” Chaplin said. “But how much will she be competing? I’m not sure. We’re going to look at what this season needs to look like so she has her best shot for Paris.”
Chaplin said she expects that decision to be made fairly soon.”
I didn’t end up watching the game, but understand LSU’s coach went out on the court, near 3 pt line, while Iowa was in it’s offensive sets, and that she physically contacted an official but did not get a technical. Bad behavior being rewarded for the sake of viewership and advertisement sales…just like men’s games and NBA.
Next, 5 steps and carrying allowed? Or is it there already?
The marriage of ESPN and SEC has not been a good thing for 90%of sports fans. It is an unhealthy and unsustainable ruination of all college sports. $$$ and influence, whether implied or unspoken seem to reign throughout all collegiate sports due to the stain of ESPN.
“Next, 5 steps and carrying allowed?” The refs also practiced calling travels. . For those who point out the number of fouls at the end of the game were nearly the same, there were very early ones on Iowa causing noticeably tentative play. As for Mulkey’s allowed-by-the-refs performance . . .
After reading the article, the author holds the position that the reason womens basketball hasn’t been as popular as other mens sports is simply because they lacked the me mugging and thuggish behavior of many mens sports. It is a tragically wrong conclusion as well as a foolish assertion.
If the need for attention at all costs, no matter how crass or immature is the goal, then most schools will never land in such realms. It goes without saying that many SEC schools will happily live there as will Oregon and several others but it is far from the actual reason womens sports lag in appeal and following. The author has very poor perspective and no long term appreciation for how many people such behavior turns away from said sports.
It isn’t about race or culture but rather about simple sportsmanship. Poor sports are dislikable. If you push a lot of girls to become poor sports and encourage such behavior for the sake of “growing the sport” you are a fool and will reduce the reasons for fans to follow the sport.
Jordan and Bird may have been the greatest trash talkers of all time but it seems to me they kept it to banter among those on the floor rather than gross gestures with cameras all following them. Clark isn’t off the hook but LSU was talking before the game about how offended they were at Iowas defense against SC. They had planned such nonsense. Mullet is a whole other diatribe and not at all what seem portrays I would guess.
“It isn’t about race or culture but rather about simple sportsmanship. Poor sports are dislikable. If you push a lot of girls to become poor sports and encourage such behavior for the sake of “growing the sport” you are a fool and will reduce the reasons for fans to follow the sport.”
I agree, i don’t think the average viewer agrees however. Conflict, disagreement, poor behavior, those attract attention.
Good point on LSU calling attention to foul calls before game…that’s an old trick of coaches who know about the power of public opinion before the game. Many NBA coaches used that tactic.
Right. Celebrate all things wrong with society and sports, like people watching a train wreck or car accident. Any attention is good attention is the media motto. Clark is good enough to draw a lot of interest and has become the most watched womens player not attending UConn over the last 20 years. UConn dominance could be a big reason why no one watched for several years, and ESPN forcing womens sports upon us through every commercial break probably doesn’t help either. But let the girls act like street thugs and spoiled brats, along with gaudy fake fashionista coaches who stomp their high heels after a missed call, and it will “grow the sport”.
I enjoyed Ruecks run with the Beavs teams a few years ago but I’ll be avoiding all womens sports from here on out, as much as I avoid NBA because of the same nonsense.
I’d rather not see a generation of girls become me-mugging Steph Curry impersonators.
While this is all good, I think the point of the article is to point out that this is how you know that wbb has arrived.
The peanut gallery has taken notice of it.
I feel bad for any one or two year transfers for hoops, incoming. You have to think anyone who takes the role has to know what they’re getting into. But how?
World B Free would be the ideal incoming.
Hunter and Shuler will be a backcourt to contend with for years.
Add them to the team, and the young team we saw this year becomes deeper and more productive. The frosh and sophs from this year should have no problem giving those two knowledge of the new level of competition and integrating their play with the team.
Yeah, officially in. We knew that was the case though based on his response to the original report last week. He never denied the reporting. Good luck to him wherever he lands. This program is a mess and it’s a wonder anyone is staying. Will be interesting to see what other players leave… no way he’s the only one.
Didn’t OSU let Robinson go after Ahmad Starks – who was the top player expected to return the next year – transfer to Illinois? That was in May of 2013. Seriously, this is a very big problem for the program and for Tinkle. I wish they could buy him out.
Barnes is now playing by the “three strikes and you’re out rule.” Tinkle has to put up three consecutive seasons of a quality so bad it would get other coaches fired, or he gets a three year extension.
CR actually talked about internal hypotheticals about being fired. He was on the hot seat, but he was going to get one more year. Then he went and made sure he wasn’t sticking around another year.
Imagine the same situation as now, only Tinkle decides to bit the hand that feeds him, on top of whatever he’s doing now.
CR couldn’t win with senior talent in his final season and after Moreland entered the draft and Cooke transferred, it was probably as good a time as any to fire him. I don’t remember how BDC came up with the buy out money, I think CR had three years remaining on his contract. The interesting thing was that it came six weeks after the season ended, so maybe it took that long to get the funds? Barnes should figure out the same with Tinkle and cut his loses.
Are we forgetting CR’s comments after that blowout loss to Radford???
It would appear that started it and the players leaving sealed it.
Oregon State athletic director Bob De Carolis met with Robinson at the end of March. Given the coach’s outspoken nature and displeasure in Corvallis about his job performance, one could have expected this to happen a while ago.
“If I get fired, it’s been nice knowing you guys,” Robinson told reporters following his team’s CBI loss to Radford in a now-prescient quote.
Although it seemed Oregon State would reluctantly keep Robinson on, perhaps the recent mass exodus of players finally pushed the administration over the edge.
I remember I picked up some Craig Robinson basketball camp t-shirts for cheap at the surplus store after they cancelled the camp.
I realize the Elite Eight changed everything – but even with that – Robinson still has a higher winning percentage overall and in conference than Tinkle has. I’d like to think if OSU could eat $4m of CRs contract eight years ago, they could eat $6m or so after next season.
Yeah… you don’t get to publicly tease your employer like that.
“If I get fired….”
I was pissed off at him, and I was ready to give him one more year. I can only imagine how pissed off his employers were, with that quip.
But he’s not dumb, and he likely knew the outcome.
It’s actually a big problem everywhere. Even top players from big name programs are transferring. It’s the world we live in now. The thing is, where do you transfer? The Blue Bloods didn’t fare very well in the tourney.
All things considered, Pope is more important for long term success then Taylor. Wings don’t win you games in March. Guards do. Tinkle should be clinging to Pope. It’s his only chance to save his job.
Even in one of the deepest and most talented tight end classes in years, Musgrave stands out as the most dynamic athlete at the position. At the Senior Bowl, he clocked a max speed of 20.05 miles per hour, a mark more commonly seen from a running back than a 6-6, 253-pound pass catcher. Still, he’s much more inexperienced than many of his peers after a knee injury limited him to just two games in 2022. Musgrave’s upside might be greater than that of any other tight end, but he has work to do – particularly in becoming a better route runner – to catch up to the more reliable Michael Mayer and Dalton Kincaid.”
Musgrave apparently had a 16% drop rate. No notes on his blocking.
I could see him being the last pick if no one else drafts him. I forget what they call that pick. Is there any chance he gets drafted? I kind of thought he’d be a free agent signing.
Was just reading a heartwarming story about the girlfriend of former Oregon TE Spencer Webb giving birth to Webb’s baby recently, about 9 months after he tragically passed away.
She named the kid Spider, because that was Spencer’s nickname.
Then I read through the comments and find out that his girlfriend, Kelly Kay, s an Onlyfans performer who apparently has a bunch of videos of herself getting banged by various guys online. Just warms the heart….
Totally none of my business but I had the same though. It could be anybody’s kid. And Spider is a terrible name, even if the thought was genuine.
Feels like a product of social media attention grabbing, and I guess it worked because the story about Spider is all over the place right now.
I bet that Onlyfans account is getting record traffic right now too.
My brother’s a huge Michigan fan and I saw they landed Caleb Love from UNC. I told him good for them and that Oregon State will probably land some random player from Kennesaw State who averaged 6 points and 3 rebounds a game and was benched late in the season for declining production.
Yes that is the guy Tinkle will bring in, and that kid will likely be more fundamentally sound than the rest of the roster for the first 8 games, then Tinkle realizes he just exposed his own weak recruiting abilities so the new kid will get benched for some mystery doghouse nonsense for the remainder of the schedule and then transfer the following year. Rinse repeat with Tinkle.
Things continue to trend with Chiles winning QB1. Doubt it will be game 1, but if DJ doesn’t come out hot, Chiles is going to take it and never let it go… mark my words
“The arm is a lightning bolt. The athleticism enticing. The enthusiasm infectious.
It’s hard not to notice freshman quarterback Aidan Chiles during Oregon State practice this spring. Chiles, the most anticipated signee of coach Jonathan Smith’s six-year OSU tenure, graduated early from high school to get a jump on the college process.”
Beavs offense on fire. 0 hits. Ducks only with 2 so far. Unfortunately, I don’t see sellers making more than 1 more inning. He’s at 73 pitches already and he’s just starting the 4th inning.
Well, feels like this is over. 2-0 ducks. Beavs have 9 strike outs I believe. Terrible at bats. Based on what they’ve done so far, I would be more surprised if they got a hit tonight than the Ducks completing this no hitter. At bats have been terrible.
Think this team needs another bowling party. Now the defense is shitting the bed. Error on a routine pop fly…3 guys there and it drops between them all. 2 errors in the game and Bazanna narrowly escapes our 3rd error of the game. Saved by the replay challenge. Ugly plays all over the place. Sad to see
What an ugly game. 2 errors (replay overturned a 3rd error) and 2 hits on the night. Runners on 3rd with 1 out or less 2x and zero runs to show for it. This is awful baseball. We’re a 3rd of the way into the season now and it’s only going to get harder with USC and ASU still this month. When our entire team outside of 1 player has been “slumping” for 5 weeks, I don’t think that’s really a slump. It’s what we are. We are back to below .200 as a team batting avg in conference play. How the fuck can an entire team have a sub .200 batting average? That’s truly impressive.
They’re not rebuilding shit based on what we’ve seen thus far. It’s incredible to think that an entire team minus 1 player can’t hit the ball. They look lost, confused and lifeless. Guess the celebration vs Cal was worth it. Might be the last one for a long while.
From what I’m seeing with the batters from Oregon State this game is the lack of understanding the pitches and placement. The breaking ball and cutter are not working for the Oregon pitcher. His fastball and high breaking ball are the only pitches that are working for him. The batters need to swing at the balls that are coming up chest height after the throw and look for high fastball or anticipate breaking ball. Either way, swinging strike out is better than looking strikeout.
Anyone else notice the over-running and over-sliding the base with this squad? Maybe it’s not unusual but it seems to happen too often. Especially for a team that is supposed to emphasize baserunniing.
Doesn’t always have immediate consequences but it’s the kind of thing that will bite you at a critical time.
An example in the b2 today as Smith’s throw pulls Bazanna to the 3b side of 2b on a WP. Would have been an out with a good throw but what I saw was Bazanna staying with the tag even after the call, would have gotten the out if the runner came off the bag at all. Good baserunning and poor throw by catcher but still good effort by Bazanna.
I agree with Bezanna staying with the tag after the initial tag. The poor through by the Catcher was due to the delayed ducking down by the pitcher. If the pitcher had ducked/dipped after he realized he threw a wild pitch, the Catcher wouldn’t of had to throw the ball to the third base side to avoid the pitcher who was on the first base side.
The Catcher double clutched his throw because the pitcher didn’t duck right away. It was right when the cameras switched from the outfield view to the 3rd base view when I noticed the double clutch and the late duck by the pitcher.
Mitch has a few ways to approach the rest of the season:
1-Take more aggressive risks
2-Hope for the best and stick with what you’ve been doing
3-Make multiple changes with the starters who get the bulk of the at bats, innings
4-Press fundamentals as a building process towards next year
5-Heavy discipline and demand focus through additional pressure from the staff towards players
6-Relax and let them just enjoy the game, not so concerned about record but effort
7-Be a mentor and encourage the team to keep focused and trust the process
8-Go strictly unpredictable on many decisions
9-Strictly follow the “book” and statistics with no more variation.
So what do we conclude? Why green light a guy at 3-1 bases loaded and no outs when you haven’t hit anything the whole game and it is likely the best shot to get back in the game?
I don’t see MC being a guy who is gonna change. He’s modeling this program after the Mariners system and who could argue with that? They finally made the post season after a 20+ year drought and are off to a blistering 3-5 start this season. Part of what is so concerning is that they clearly are wanting offensive players and yet so far Bazanna is the only guy from these last 2 highly rated recruiting classes to be any use at the plate.
Baseball is beginning to parallel mens basketball. Both programs are just a long grinding process of breaking the will of fandom. Mike Parker came out of the gate in the 1st with a lot of hopeful phraseology and by the 3rd he is bordering on agitated acceptance of this teams ineptitude offensively.
Tinkle can’t get guys to shoot or run an offense/Canham can’t find a hitter as an offensive coach
Best to just leave the game off and do something productive.
OSU is now a football school without a close second.
What I can’t understand is why so many fans seem content on keeping WT. Far too many fans seem happy with mediocrity. Well actually, mediocrity is a much better result than the current state of the men’s basketball program.
Tanner Smith with his 3rd hit of the year…I kid but I’m not too far off. Hit a deep homer to right field. Down 2-1 going to top of 4th. We’ve avoided the shutout. With this offense, scoring 1 run almost feels like dog pile worthy.
That ground out hit was poorly struck causing a slow roller to third base side of second base. Second baseman didn’t need to shade to the 3rd base side to get to that grounder to get the out. Reaching hits annoy me and are equal to strikeouts looking.
Wow, bunt attempt leads to Guerra with a wild throw into the right field corner. Lol. Wtf is this team doing? Runner goes all the way to 3rd. Incredible
Beavs do not deserve to win this game. Beavs are poorly coached discipline wise and are rarely in defensive position. I miss Pat Casey for his defensive adjustments. He always had his players in the best position defensively for each batter. Does Mitch watch game film and analyze what oppoment batters are capable?!
Another base running error and Parker immediately says “too aggressive with no business making the big turn at 2nd, a young team trying to find its way”
Beavs are being coached like a power hitting city league softball team except they can’t make contact and can’t hit home runs in bunches to make a difference. Baserunning blunders and fielding errors are atrocious and happen every game at this point, which should not be the case this late in the season. I wonder if Casey is having reservations about pushing for Mitch and crew to take the reins.
3 RBI HR by McDowell with two down in the 7th leads to a 4-2 Beavs win.
A few positive things, made easier to recognize with a win:
-Reeder and Dernedde came ready to contribute off the bench late with solid D
-someone put Kane (playing 3b) in the exact right spot in the 6 hole to catch that liner for second out in the b9
Nice to get a win, but way too much to flush from another subpar game fielding and baserunning. Pitching is doing pretty well, but the will the hitting ever improve?
Don’t expect to win 2/3 though. Based on the rest of the season this was the blind squirrel/nut scenario with 2 home runs and no other productive at bats through 2 games.
This is the anomaly based on the overall trends. Maybe they have figured something out but I won’t hold my breath for it.
You almost got me…. Until I remember the day lol.
First!!!
Same. I stopped breathing for a couple seconds.
I have heard from many, many people that Angry is actually Benny Beaver . This is part of his five year plan to eventually be OSU Athletic Director.
In other news, Wayne Tinkle’s contract has been extended to the 2026-2027 season.
Wait
Yes, I was waiting for that announcement because he reached the “secret handshake” agreement with AD Barners that every 10-win-plus season earns Big Tinks another year. We will die in peace knowing Tinkle is the Beav head coach for life!
Four more years! Four more years!
Whew! You’d assume the brothers were athletic, however.
Beers fits that mold, in upbringing and in her play.
And Clark is a freak. You know SC had a “plan” but they were completely unable to slow her down.

Her NIL is like 4x what her WNBA salary would be.

Kudos to Angry for the lead in…couldn’t have done much better for April 1st.
Brendan Murphy, LB commit to Beavers:
https://www.hudl.com/profile/13607197/Brendan-Murphy
Walk on? He’s from O’Dea, which is a powerhouse program and he had Ivy League offers so he can do it in the classroom, too.
Plus he wears #9
….and Canzano stinks!
Beavs take game 1, 6-3. Would have been a real heart breaker to lose what with several RISP not cashed in.
Sellers always makes me nervous, good 5 inning effort.
The infamous Mark Buchanan umped at 3rd, not likely to see him behind the plate this series.
Husky arm at 51 pitches after Beavs bat around in the t2. 4-0 Beavs on a Bazanna Grand Slam.
Heartbreaking loss for Florida Atlantic but SDSU made the plus to win. Not sure if either would beat UConn or Miami though.
Back the Pac
Yes the new look conference of champions lol
UConn looks unstoppable.
Ha ha, Mark Buchanan helps decide video review in Huskies favor. C’mon Mark, the batter clearly dropped his elbow to get hit.
At least he didn’t claim to have been “beaked”…..
Add Hutcheson to the got some fire club. Freshman just punched his way out of bases loaded and exited the field with attitude.
Got the series win today.
Happy to be wrong on this one
Does Mitch have the Beavs playing their best at the right time. Do they look ready to steam roll the back half of the schedule and win another conference championship with these young guys?
Nice. “Go for the sweep.”
Miiiiiiiiiitch!
On the real I would really like Gebbia to come back as a grad assistant next year.
Isn’t he already at Ohio St?
For his final year of eligibility. I’m hoping Smith will bring him back as a grad assistant and he’ll want to. I wouldn’t blame him if he stays at Ohio state if given an opportunity.
Glad a few of you enjoyed the joke! The idea of Ben specifically learning how to hurdle cracked me up.
Yesterday was a surprising result considering the direction both teams were trending. Beavs couldn’t score runs and UW was coming off a series win at UCLA.
Jekyll and Hyde. Hope they can get the sweep today and get back to .500.
Civil war series starts Thursday.
I.e. young team
Huck the Fuskies
Anyone know if there is a youtube stream of today’s WBB championship game?
Had to look…appears bspn is carrying it.
Seems like they are one of the more aggressive copyright protecting entities.
Hopefully Adley breaks out of this slump soon.. BA is down to .500
Mark Buchanan, again??
Miiiiitch tossed because he sees Buchanan’s error, and says so!
Joins Casey on the receiving end of Buchanan’s foolishness.

You can’t expect pitching to shut down everyone. Especially with Weber behind the plate. I mean it doesn’t take a genius to know Smith steals allot of strikes and keeps us in the games.
You won’t win games with 4-6 hits.
Are we done with the cheesy death throes? Do I need to throw a couple more prop knives on the stage?
We aren’t that good this year, due to obvious pitching weaknesses and a young team in the field.
Fucking relax.
Good points, Jack
I… agree…with…Jack.
Ducks will win another Natty!….oh wait!!!

What the hell does that even mean? Was there a chance Gebbia wasn’t going to make the roster or something? I hate Ohio St and their stupid-ass pretentious traditions!
Sorry… am I supposed to care?
Some damn close scoring in gymnastics:

An easy sport to rig because it is so subjective and the score margin can be so thin it doesn’t tak much to be skeptical of the entire sport. I wonder if an SEC school will win that championship on ESPN as well…
Not enough money involved to rig it
No money except SEC/ESPN, and a myth
of SEC dominance in all sports and no cheating at all, just pure competition among athletes…
I just wonder if Carey will be back next year – since it will be the run-up to Paris. Or if she starts preparing after the season. Don’t know how or if the routines need to be adjsted for international competition. Or there will be too many sponsor obligations to be a full-time student.
I believe she has said this is her last collegiate year. She’s 22 turning 23 this year. Pretty sure she’s close to graduating as well.

Sad but true.
Looks more like the Tiger phenomenon in golf to me. Caitlin Clark is a great story, but can WBB draw without her?
I feel bad for any one or two year transfers for hoops, incoming. You have to think anyone who takes the role has to know what they’re getting into. But how?
World B Free would be the ideal incoming.

Hunter and Shuler will be a backcourt to contend with for years.
Add them to the team, and the young team we saw this year becomes deeper and more productive. The frosh and sophs from this year should have no problem giving those two knowledge of the new level of competition and integrating their play with the team.
Anyone transferring?
Not that I know of, but Paopao is big news down here.

I like this quote re: DJ adjusting to OSU offense for it’s interpretive potential:
““It’s a process,” he said. “Sophisticated scheme, totally different (style) than what he’s been playing the last few years.”
Per olive, Glenn Taylor Jr enters portal
Yeah, officially in. We knew that was the case though based on his response to the original report last week. He never denied the reporting. Good luck to him wherever he lands. This program is a mess and it’s a wonder anyone is staying. Will be interesting to see what other players leave… no way he’s the only one.
Most, “The 20 best prospects in the portal,” articles have had him listed for a week and a half… if he’s still in the top 20.
No. Starks was out a couple years prior.
And it was an ailing grandma that was the reason–one fo the weirdest NCAA denials of a hardship, ever.
Yes, Cooke – that’s it – I knew it was a late decision. And I’d argue as frustrating as it was – the Robinson tenure was more exciting basketball.
This article calls out GPII as the difference in Golden State’s win over OKC, and includes a nice putback dunk highlight by GPII:

Boom-or-busts draft picks
“Luke Musgrave, TE, Oregon State
Even in one of the deepest and most talented tight end classes in years, Musgrave stands out as the most dynamic athlete at the position.
No notes on his blocking.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2023/04/05/nfl-draft-boom-bust-prospects-2023-anthony-richardson-will-levis/11563812002/
PFF says he had an 8% drop rate in 2022, 14% in 2021. 8% is still below average, but he was improving.
According to PFF, he’s more or less average as a college blocking TE
He was a pretty God awful blocker. I can remember him chasing down the guy he missed and standing over him as he made the tackle on several occasions.
That makes him average as a college TE. Most college TE’s are works in progress as blockers because teams prioritize receiving skills.
Curious where 16% came from if not PFF.
2022 he was OK with drops but it was a tiny sample size. 2021 was horrendous…14% kind of seems low TBH.
I think I get PTSD every time I see the subject line for this thread… Seth Collins Named Assistant QB Coach.
Haha.
What happened to practices resuming this week? Is the media just not being allowed in or did the schedule change?
Media is not being allowed is what I’ve heard
https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2023/04/oregon-states-jack-colletto-eagerly-awaits-nfl-draft-says-i-definitely-believe-ill-get-an-opportunity.html
I could see him being the last pick if no one else drafts him. I forget what they call that pick. Is there any chance he gets drafted? I kind of thought he’d be a free agent signing.
Mr Irrelevant is what you’re looking for, and hey, it worked for Brock Purdy, why not ol Jackhammer.
Oh ya thanks. I knew it was something like that. I could see him thriving as that pick and becoming a big story.
Just warms the heart….
https://twitter.com/247Sports/status/1643740843260657664?t=yG3RyUihdhlWfBg-7FKhAg&s=19
Wow. I get honoring him but spider is pretty stupid why not just call him Spencer. How confident are we that it’s his kid? She sounds smart.
Poor kid…
Should have gone with Web as the name…

It’s the same girl that streaked at the super bowl to promote her instagram/onlyfans. So yes, she’s doing it for the publicity.
Poor kid. At least they’ll be rich?
She may be smarter (or maybe more savvy) than she appears.
Smarter than any of the guys who pays for her pictures
Wonder if she at the scene of the accident?
I’m not suggesting anything, but I’m also not not suggesting anything either.
I really doubt that they’ll be rich.
OnlyFans is sooo much cash money tho.
What’s your handle?
Nice beaver!
Wait so she’s 30 and was dating a college kid?

Local media never asks the hard questions

Instead of asking genuine questions and follow ups.
Musgrave at #28. Rationale make sense.

Lmao above average blocking.
Cadyn Grenier retired yesterday. Played all last year in AAA but never got to MLB. Outstanding on D but never hit for high average in pro ball.
Maybe he’ll come take over Mitch’s job?
Interesting…Battle of the 5*s…
No Dernedde in lineup again. Wonder if the .165 batting avg was too much to ignore.
Sellers uses 19 pitches to get out of the 1st, need to see a couple more innings in the 15-20 neighborhood.
sad expectations
Sellers has good stuff on half his pitches.
Then he wastes his–and our–time with the other half of his pitches.
Looking grim. Bottom 2. Bases juiced and no outs. Ducks gonna put up some big numbers this weekend.
Holy shit. Sellers loads the bases and no outs. Strikes out the side. Lol. But he’s already at 53 pitches and we’re only thru the 2 innings.
We’ve seen this before, haven’t we? Sellers up to 54 after loading the bases before striking out the side in the b2.
Still scoreless…….barely.
https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2023/04/is-there-room-for-freshman-aidan-chiles-in-oregon-states-starting-quarterback-competition.html
He won’t be 18 until this Fall? Good grief, Charlie Brown..
Beavs offense on fire. 0 hits. Ducks only with 2 so far. Unfortunately, I don’t see sellers making more than 1 more inning. He’s at 73 pitches already and he’s just starting the 4th inning.
There’s a pattern here for Sellers. 90 pitches to get through 4 innings, as always he is nerve wracking.
Still scoreless……..uck arm at 60.
103 pitches in 4.2 innings! Is he going for a record?
Well, feels like this is over. 2-0 ducks. Beavs have 9 strike outs I believe. Terrible at bats. Based on what they’ve done so far, I would be more surprised if they got a hit tonight than the Ducks completing this no hitter. At bats have been terrible.
Was it just me or did that ump just call three strikes that were well off the plate?
They haven’t earned anything tonight. Some truly awful at bats.
I was legitimately asking. I am watching on a phone and the broadcast is blurry at times.
Sad to see
Guerra saves the day! Dribbler up the middle gets under the SS glove. The no hitter is off the table!
We haven’t exactly been hitting the cover off the ball. I feel he should have took a pitch with the count at 3-1 with the bases loaded.
“Rebuilding year”.
They’re not rebuilding shit based on what we’ve seen thus far. It’s incredible to think that an entire team minus 1 player can’t hit the ball. They look lost, confused and lifeless. Guess the celebration vs Cal was worth it. Might be the last one for a long while.
The season peaked right there
From what I’m seeing with the batters from Oregon State this game is the lack of understanding the pitches and placement.
Why do Beaver fans always expect nice things?
Anyone else notice the over-running and over-sliding the base with this squad? Maybe it’s not unusual but it seems to happen too often. Especially for a team that is supposed to emphasize baserunniing.
Doesn’t always have immediate consequences but it’s the kind of thing that will bite you at a critical time.
Here’s Macias last night:
https://twitter.com/i/status/1644557282938880000
Thanks, missed the delayed duck on TV
Notes on Baltimore Orioles’ early season success and fan enthusiasm. Multiple references to Adley Rutschman:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2023/04/07/baltimore-orioles-rebuild-al-east-adley-rutschman/11625046002/
Over under on 5 hits in today’s game?
So far 3 of our 6 outs have been k’s. My oh my. Bottom of 2 right now.
2-0 ducks. Bottom of 3rd. 2 out. Man on 2nd. Feels like an insurmountable number already but if they get a 3rd run you can call this game over.
Parker perked up now; due to a 7 pitch b4 after Kasper’s HR makes it a 1 run deficit.
Tanner Smith with his 3rd hit of the year…I kid but I’m not too far off. Hit a deep homer to right field. Down 2-1 going to top of 4th. We’ve avoided the shutout. With this offense, scoring 1 run almost feels like dog pile worthy.
My bad, it was Brady Kasper with the hr.
Does it have anything to do with launch angle or exit velocity? If not, then no it doesn’t matter.
Beavs win one for all the negative Nancys on this forum!
What a bummer the Beavers won… huh guys?
Impressive giving up four runs total by the pitching staff so far this series. If the bars can wake up things will be looking good.
I’ll wake the bars~hold my beer
Nice to get a win, but way too much to flush from another subpar game fielding and baserunning. Pitching is doing pretty well, but the will the hitting ever improve?
Don’t expect to win 2/3 though. Based on the rest of the season this was the blind squirrel/nut scenario with 2 home runs and no other productive at bats through 2 games.
This is the anomaly based on the overall trends. Maybe they have figured something out but I won’t hold my breath for it.
They won. Its going to be a bad season, enjoy a win over the Ducks.
Move on. Quit watching, that’s not fair weather fanship, its just good time management…

New thread up. Spring game is coming up in just under 2 weeks.
