Colorado has always been a joke. People were buying it? I’d rather see them win this game knowing they’re a joke and will get destroyed more often down the line, and knowing Oregon is more legit, but yeah, Colorado will get killed. I can’t believe people believe in Colorado.
Looks like that reality check is here today and will only get worse for them. I think they’re a 5 win team. That’s why I’d like to see them beat Oregon, but there’s no chance it happens.
You do realize that they are missing their 2 best players….Travis Hunter? Sarcasm of course but the built in excuse for networks to explain how Buffa could go from title contenders to train wreck in a 3 week period. Hunter was the de facto Heisman winner based on the coverage of Gus Johnson.
Oregon doesn’t look especially dangerous. Looks like a typical Oregon team. Fast, soft, beat up on bad teams. Nix might have taken a step forward, though. He looks more poised. That would make them a bit tougher if true. Won’t know until they play a good team.
I like how CU’s LB is twice as big as him, but he tries to strip the ball, instead of tackling him, so he just keeps running for 15 more yards while this dude is busy playing with his arms.
The Duff’s are being exposed…..Hunter won’t change todays outcome. Our offense and rushing will break their spirit, just like we are watching vs Nike. The Fucks are legit, will be a hell of a game this year. We will have to bring our A game.
I expect OSU to impose their will in Pullman today. Corrections will be made from last week and we should see the offensive playbook hopefully open more this week.
DJU and the WR room/Velling will hopefully settle down into a good rhythm. The consistency is the most concerning issue. Windows are there for plays to be made, but delivery timing and accuracy is such a variable this year.
Still think we are in a better universe at QB than last year.
Beavs will roll today and exercise some demons that have plagued us in Pullman.

I thought last week made it obvious, that the Buffs (who were lucky to beat what’s going to be a bad or at best a mediocre Go5 team) were not going to be competitive against the top of the P-12. Of course, the media hype machine had to drag this out as long as possible. Wins against ASU and Stanford probably and I’m thinking that’s it. Sure, a big improvement from last season, but do the “experts” who were talking playoffs and crap know anything about O and D lines?
Hilarious that Deion ran 85 guys out of town for that first half.
Sideline reporters should ask him if he still believes…
Nice half by Ducks, helping all of college football today in some odd irony that they are destroying the one team with more arrogance and hubris than themselves.
On previous thread some were making the difficult decision to pull for ducks today. For the record….Not Me. Took the under on 9.5 season wins, still not sure today proves a lot about them; we’ll have to wait for that stretch next month vs Huskies then Cougs then Utes.
Of the game today in Pullman, Wilner says, “This Saturday is about every Saturday for years to come.”
“People can watch these teams and say, ‘They play like power conference schools, but they aren’t going to be a part of it, really?” an industry source said. “So in that case, what does it really mean to be a Power Five school? These teams aren’t, but Vanderbilt is. Boston College is. So what am I missing?”
After WSU and Colorado both played Colorado State it boggles the mind how anybody had Colorado ranked higher than WSU. ESPN has gotta be paying people for votes
Didn’t Lanning say there had been too many penalties and anyone who drew a flag was not gonna play?
Halfway through the 3rd and his boys have 6 for 60 yds…..anyone sitting?
I feel like Oregon should have won by more. If anything this game is bearish for the ducks. Colorado is a 6 win team. Coaching is so bad…couldn’t even figure out a draw play.
Go Beavs!
Concerned about covering the underneath passes. San Diego State was killing us in the fourth quarter with underneath crossing routes and we could not cover them. If we don’t do this against Wazzu, it could be a long evening.
21-7. WSU. 2nd quarter. Their qb is like 12/13 for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. Our secondary is garbage. We’re playing undisciplined. Very bad 1.5 quarters for sure.
Clarify what “street ball” means. He seems like a prototypical QB. Stays in the pocket and isn’t much of a runner, so I’m confused what “street ball” is even supposed to mean here
I’m obviously gonna get hate for this, but we really got to question how invested we become in this pathetic program, whether it be the 30+ year losing season streak, now to the letdowns of last year and this. Is it really worth the mental exhaustion of mediocre or terrible seasons for years on end only so we can have a 10+ win every few decades? Now with us likely going to a lower conference, it will only get worse as our recruiting will suffer.
Every route is covered. When all your recievers are covered on play action then the other staff has all your offensive tendencies dialed in. Better pound the ball on the ground . Beavs can run at will even with 8 in the box.
This is the worst secondary performance I can remember in a long time. Cam Ward has huge windows to throw to on every single throw. This is a Tibesar looking defense. They look shocked and unprepared. Hard to believe they look this atrocious
We just need to consistently pressure them and force a bad throw or a fumble like we just did. Our secondary can’t stop them so pressuring the QB is the only way. Happy with the offense but why on our first drive did we take Martinez out after such a good play. Love Fenwick but he should only be in there when Martinez needs a break.
Coaching staff really dropped the ball in recruiting when it comes to wide receiver. These dudes are a complete non factor. DJ is gonna get blamed but none of them are getting open and can’t make contested catches. 4th and 7 and they were manhandled. It’s absolutely killing the passing game
I’ve been less than impressed with DJU’s mobility in and to get out of the pocket. He just sort of lumbers around and hasn’t been a threat to run. Heck, Gulbranson made more of an effort to extend plays and get out of the pocket last year.
Which observations have you made that are ever positive? And literally every game you make point that is false. You literally have no life but to spend time on thread of an opposing team to try to make false observations? You may hate being called out but it’s obvious.
Ward has a legit chance to throw for 600 yds. This is starting off worse than even some of the bad showings against the Leach years. Only 1 incompleteness? That’s crazy. 300yds. 4td. Embarrassing.
Also, why aren’t we running some screens? Their D is going all out…gotta sprinkle a few screens in just to keep them honest. Is this the claasic Lingren game where he calls several great games and then just decides to lay an egg with the headscratching play calls?
Still time to come back by running the ball, dominating time of possession, and keeping their offense off the field. Beavs win 43-42 after scoring last second TD to tie but go for 2 and the win.
Good Lord, has Wazzu improved that much in one year? Looks like a lot of the improvement is with the O-line. Ward has been able to do whatever he wants with no pressure. DJ has a cannon, but I’m becoming less and less impressed with the speed of his decision-making. He needs to take off and run sometimes.
Imperative that we score on our first drive. Need to pressure Ward. Seems like we lost our identity with utilizing the TE’s. I still believe we can win but god damnit I don’t wanna see anyone but Martinez in the backfield.
Bray has been good at second half adjustments let’s see what he dials up…still have to overcome poor tackling, miscommunication and poor coverage though
Still dominating with the run game but aren’t going to stay even in a shoot out
DJ needs to be pulled sadly. He processes too slowly and has no pocket presence. Too sad when it seemed he may be a difference maker.
Fools gold I guess. You won’t have many more chances to hold them and stay within 2 scores now.
Perhaps Chiles or BG can jump start the offense. Lindgren is panicking, why no screens or slants? Of DJ can’t make the slant throw against pressure, how can you leave him in?
Can we remove Lindgren for dereliction of duty? Malpractice? Did he lose the playbook that has the running plays? Why is he just calling these long developing routes? I mean, he shouldn’t be passing the fucking ball at all but definitely not the long developing plays. It’s ridiculous
Beavs offense had a short field at the end of first half after but WSU finished the half with a TD.
Beavs offense had the ball to begin the 2nd half, but couldn’t move the ball, then had another chance
And stil couldn’t move the ball,
WSU pulls a fake punt deep in their territory and turns it into a quick TD. Feels like ballgame and the offense has lost focus and began looking to DJ to be a hero which is not the strategy.
Offense and play calling has laid the egg this game. Yes defense struggled first half, but have made appropriate adjustments. Only 14 points on offense at this point does not cut it
Such a frustrating game to watch. DJ isn’t really any better than BG in this type of game and the Cougs offense seems to have open routes everywhere. Kind of feels like the Eastern Washington game about 10 years ago when Kupp was wide open all over the place.
It comes down to a confident and decisive qb who is accurate and on time. DJ seems a bit slow and not too confident which is a recipe for disaster.
WSU hasn’t really respected the deep pass and hasn’t seen anything else but varieties of power run. No fly sweep, no tight end, no slant, no bubble screen, no tunnel screen, no delay draw. What is in the playbook if it has been opened up?
Kind of a sad night. It seems like the Beavs just got punched in the mouth out of the gate and never got back up. They’ve been trying to compete but the first punch made them groggy and slow throughout the whole contest.
Not sharp at all. Is Martinez hurt? Is Gould on the field? Does Bolden have a run?
DJ Ooh Eee Ooh Ahh Ahh Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang looks like he is a very good 7 on 7 passing league QB but forgot about the part of playing actual tackle football.
He could still turn into a serviceable arena-league QB
I wonder if Smith would have rather rolled the dice this year with Chiles from the start but DJ transferred in and the optics were too challenging to stay with that idea.
Why aren’t the receivers running go routes? Every time when it looks like they have a step or two they run a post or flag route and lose their separation.
Tons of missed opportunities and missed plays and down 10 at this point. I think there are adjustments to make going forward but far and away not all is lost. Shoot bonked field goal that went in and it would be one score game. Add in the fake punt
Did it? If they kicked it deep, do you think Wazzu wouldn’t have drove down the field on them anyway? They were gonna need an onside at some point anyway and their defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed. Seemed like it was worth a risk. JS was in a tough spot. Either lets the defense continue to get manhandled or try and get the ball back. It didn’t work. It happens. If the defense showed a pulse tonight, they wouldn’t have been in that position.
It was too early to onside kick it, but maybe that says something about Smith’s confidence in the defense. A long drive by Wazzu effectively ends the game. Dickert should have kicked the FG too, a risky decision that almost backfired on him.
They match up well with Utah, UCLA, Cal, and Stanford. Any team that has fast, big receivers and a solid QB is going to be a big problem for the Beavers.
Doesn’t matter if you’re stout in the trenches on both sides of the ball. If you can’t defend the pass you’re fucked in this league.
It was weird seeing a Beav defense look completely clueless for a big part of the game. I think the players they lost were more impactful than we thought given the level of non-conference competition. The D played incredibly last year against some talented offenses, even when Utah scored 42, that was mostly on Nolan and all his interceptions.
UW and UO will be almost certain losses. Utah will also be favored pretty well versus us. UCLA is great at passing. Others we haven’t faced up well against on the road.
Outcoached and outplayed. Hard to find positives in a 21 point 4th quarter when it feels like a lot of that was fraudulent compared to what the other 45 minutes showed us. Plenty of questionable coaching decisions throughout. Plenty of player mistakes as well. Not converting the 2nd fumble into 7 to tie the game before half felt like it changed the game. The fake punt sealed it. Committed to the pass when we needed run and vice versa. Big mental lapse penalties at horrible times. No getting around it that this is a bad performance and loss, even if WSU turns out to be a great team this year.
Now Smith finds himself in the exact same position as last year. A 3 point conference opening loss followed by a game against a highly ranked Utah team. If Cam Rising plays, he won’t be 100% and it’ll be his first game of the season. The schedule opens up pretty nicely after that…
The loss today understandably can send us all into panic mode, but a win on Friday suddenly changes everything. I’d hold off on harsh criticisms of Smith until that game plays out. Lose that one and I think he has to be questioned as a coach in a big picture sense (uncertain future of the program aside).
I’m more bummed about the 35 bucks I spent on stream package for the month in case the team decided to do something this year tbh. Should’ve stayed away from this stuff like I did last year oops.
Congrats to WSU, but I expect them to coug the season when they have to start playing decent teams on the road. Dunno
Student Beaver is absolutely correct. This is a 7-5 team at best. Cal, AZ, Stanford only games we may win. Possibly Colorado. Will lose all other games.
Our secondary is not good. Aside from the coverage issues, they tackled like shit. Looked like the Tibesar Beavs out there. We lost too many guys from last year and the injury to Thomas is looking like the major blow I thought it would be. This wasn’t an off night for them, it’s just a so-so secondary. Lindgren play calling didn’t do them any good either. I just don’t get why he hates getting 7 yards a pop on the ground to then throw the ball 6 or 7 times in a row and have back to back 3 and outs. The long pass plays aren’t working. If he wants to throw the ball, we need to work on the quick slants, more creative screens to the TE and WR. More roll-outs. It’s his MO though, does this 3-4 times a year.
We pray for Rising to still need another week before he’s back. Penix could throw for 600 yds. We hope UCLA hasn’t started to click. Our hardest games just got harder seeing this secondary.
Knee jerk reaction from seeing this game in person. DJ is not the guy but this game was lost by D, play calling, and small receivers that absolutely can’t get separation and aren’t strong enough to complete catches. Play of game was fake punt. Second biggest play was sack that didn’t happen. Finally, the overthrow to Martinez on 4th down. Make any one of those plays and Beavs could have won. Also got to give Cougs credit. They played great. Ward is legit. Receivers are very good. Well coached. We have serious issues but still had a chance to win against Cougs best. We played poorly FS
Why have they been trying to lean into the passing game so heavily these last few games when we are so poor at it overall? Honestly it could be smart for us to convert to a service academy style triple option offense.
All is not lost even after such a dreadful outcome.
WSU showed that they will be a tough out for everyone too.
One loss doesn’t end the season but Beavs need to even the score with Utah next week and build from there. There is a good chance that everyone will get a loss along the way based on how strong the conference is right now.
Even ASU has USC struggling tonight.
JS will hit reset with the team and learn from Wazzu but it was a disappointing showing for sure.
Post game thoughts..
First of all, I thought it was a classy move for Cougs to play the OSU fight song b4 the game. Also, hats off to their crowd for creating a fun and tough environment. Lots of PAC2 signs. I truly believe this is a win if played at Reser. Best of luck to our brothers to the north this season.
The DEFENSE: This could be a precursor to future games if we don’t get consistent pressure on QB. I believe I heard announcers say Ward had over 7 seconds to throw on one of his TDs.
Also, felt a little like watching “The Fugitive” there with the -one handed man- making multiple amazing catches. So much respect to Josh Kelly and his talents.
The D did create 2 turnovers which helped start the comeback. But for a lot of the game it felt like our d couldn’t hang with their o. Too many blown assignments that dug a hole too large to climb out of.
The OFFENSE: Once again could’ve benefited from running a bit more. Fenwick looked great! For whatever reason, some of the plays just seemed off. I noticed, QB1 is a little slow on throwing motion. I think that contributes to some tip passes and also just a hair late on some throws. His strong arm does buy him a little time, but if he wants to go pro he’ll need to get a little faster. Also, missed a wide open receiver by throwing to a different receiver. I also was hoping they would’ve tried a reverse or something just to mix it up a bit. With all the negatives on Offense. He led an amazing 98 yd drive late in the game and gave the team one last chance to pull it out. Probably need to be more creative with Tight Ends. If our receivers can’t create separation, the tight ends might be able to line up against the DBs and create some mismatches that way.
Which leads to Special teams..Wow, had 2 plays that went the cougs way. Fake punt was a back breaker. I was thinking, fake was a more effective way to go for it on 4th down instead of the way we tried a couple times. Also, the Janakowski kick that hit the upright and went through. We lost by 3 so that was a game winner. He also missed one earlier in the game.
Lastly, this game ‘felt’ like it was over from the moment the cougs threw the bomb on opening series. The cougs came out more focused, and really executed well on offense. They outcoached us too. We had 2 fourth down attempts that I didn’t like.
Even though we lost, it was great to see the team fight til the end. So close to recovering that onside kick and could have very easily stolen that game. I’m not a big ‘moral victory’ guy but the team has a chance to learn from this.
According to his WSU bio, the Beavs tried to recruit him out of high school, but he ended up signing with hometown Fresno State. Transferred to WSU after catching only 12 balls last season for the Bulldogs.
Props to Wazzu. That second play put us on our heels and we took the better part of the first half to figure it out.
Well played by them. The Kevin Falk curse lives on.
Also props to Dickert for calling out ESPN (while talking on FOX) for trust actions.
The positives for us are that we are now contenders. The team figured it out one drive too late. And that one drive was killed by the same rookie ref who was calling linemen downfield on screen passes. I get it. Fuaga is a future All-Pro rag-dolling defenders. You’re going to see a lot of that this year. Get used to it. But don’t punish the man because he does it closer to you than the Wazzu linemen, who were doing the same thing all game.
Overall, this was a really good game. Both teams proved to be contenders. It’s too bad for Wazzu that they have to play both at the University of Phil and at Seattle. But they don’t have USC or Utah.
I thought it was crazy to think the 2Pac rematch could be the CCG, come December. But it just got real.
I don’t know how you can call that a really good game. That was one of the worst defensive efforts I have seen in the last 30 years, including the Gary Anderson teams! We were out schemed and they have better talent! Call it like I see it and the final score doesn’t indicate how bad of a mismatch this game was.
The one and only positive was we fought to the end and I commend them for that!
Mike, I think it is just how the game has morphed with these spread offenses. Not all that uncommon for 1,000 yards of total offense in a 55-52 game. Not stopping the clock now will curtail those totals a little bit, I think.
So which teams don’t have elite wide receivers who make crazy catches regularly?
UW, WSU, Colorado, USC, Oregon, even ASU has a guy catching everything.
Not so sure about Utah, OSU, Cal, UA, UCLA or Stanford.
Perhaps this factor is the Rosetta Stone of how the Beavs fare this season. And the major miss from the off season was not finding a transfer wide receiver or 2. How does WSU get those 3 starting wide receivers in one offseason but OSU can’t find a wide receiver?
CU? USC are okay, but we won’t play them again for a decade or so.
The University of Phil has Franklin. He isn’t making special catches, so much as he’s just open all game long and has a QB who loves playing catch with him.
UW has a serious WR room. But their defense is soooo bad.
You know you’re getting old when you keep thinking USC is being challenged by an ASU team in disarray, led by a high school kid.
The loss was hard but what was even harder was to see the forum high-jacked by studentbeav. Why is anyone even responding to him. Ignore him and talk game.
I love DJ as a kid but what I’ve noticed is he moves slower than the other Pac12 QB’s.
Our defense secondary just isn’t that good. At least not yet.
They were stacking the box but we still ran on them.
4th quarter offense played good on hurry up. This game had me worried because of our secondary and the fact Ward and his receivers are that good and I know how bad they wanted this game. I’m actually not surprised we lost… disappointing as it is.
I didn’t see anything too off. One or two misses aren’t going to worry me, and the rest were well-advised throwaways. There’s no reason to risk a receiver getting smacked for some ego pass.
The back judge was in the way a couple times. That didn’t help.
The only thing that really stings about this loss is it makes us the second best team in a conference of two. Yeah, we want to stand in solidarity with the Cougs but we also wanted to be better than them. That’s not the case…at least not at this point in time this year. Still lots of football left to play this year.
If I had to re-watch the game, I don’t think I could watch the fake punt, such a killer. Also, it didn’t feel like a 3 point game – maybe due in part to the difference between Wazzu’s explosiveness vs. Smith’s slow and steady approach. It was good to see the Beavs not panic and continue to go about their business. Kinda ironic that the two Coug receivers who did all the damage were Mountain West transfers. Finally, credit to WSU – much improved and obviously fired up. Don’t remember the D on their heels like this since Bray took over.
Thought the Cougs played almost a perfect game – except for the two fumbles. They made plays in all three phases if the game. They were by far the better team yesterday and deserved to win. As OOS mentioned above score did not reflect how the Cougs controlled most of the game by at least two possesions. But the Beavs are pretty resilient undet Smith. Biggest disappointment was Brays defense. They threw the ball at will. Couldn’t cover the receivers or generate much pass rush. When we did cover, Ward through a dime or their receivers made a high light catch. We better get this fixed or it will be a long season. Also I’ll say it again, we REALLY need some tall lanky receivers.
I think (hope) Utah will be a better match up do yo their style of play. Not looking forward to Colorado, UW, UO and other teams that sling it all over the field.
Until we stop a high octane offense I’m worried. I’m worried about CU scoring 45 points through the air. Travis Hunter should be back also. Yeah their lines aren’t great and we should be able to run the ball, they have shown the ability to score quickly. I know, its a long season.
Agree with BeaverPride and ZonaBeav on their general assessments. Was there in person, Coug fans were pretty cool, voiced support for Beavs, a few shook my hand, said “Go Beavs!”….very positive comments from several fans. Listened to their radio post game, and a Coug fan called in and said he hoped the Beavs and Cougs would win out and meet in the PAC championship game.
As usual, no one play lost the game. “The sack that wasn’t” would have put the Cougs out of field goal range, that could have been 3 fewer points…the Coug kicker bounced one in from the upright… That dumb 4th and 1 pass to Martinez looked familiar. Didn’t Beavs try that last year? On the flip side, it was there. If DJ makes that catchable, Martinez has a LOT of room in front of him. But hell, run your 245 lb QB up the middle for a yard…
RE DJ, I supposed you could make the argument he was asked to do the wrong things at Clemson and he was distracted by personal issues, and he now isn’t yet on the same page with his receivers and will come around. But I suspect he’s not going to become consistently more accurate this season. I would be happy for him to prove me wrong.
How about giving Noga, Muyagi, maybe Valsin(?) reps on the outside? They may not have Gould and Bolden’s 40 times, but maybe they can still get separation and catch, particularly if DJ tends toward high passes.
The game didn’t feel as close as the score. It was disappointing that the Beavers never once led in the game. Overall, good environment, pretty classy fans for the most part. I obviously would have loved a more competitive game and Beaver victory, but they were out-coached and outplayed.
All the WSU penalties at the end of the game were pretty obviously a result of their DB’s not being able to our handle our speed at WR. That is one advantage of having the small fast guys, even if they have small catch radii.
Only a fan of the losing team would say this wasn’t as close a game as the final score indicated. Beavs were literally one onside kick recovery – which they almost got if Reichle had located the ball – away from likely tying the game and sending it to OT. It almost doesn’t get any closer than that.
Basic math has obviously eluded you, but being a U of O guy I’m guessing you already knew that. See you in November, hope you figured out how to stop a team that runs it
Colorado has always been a joke.

Not with that defense.
I’ll give them a punchers chance vs USC since their defense isn’t any better.
Sanders is all hat and no cattle
Five wins is two more than I thought they’d get, a month ago.
Lol at people thinking Colorado was good.
Studentbeaver had a big hard on for them. That’s the only poster I know of.
That Oregon offense is dangerous.
Hunter’s legit, but he can’t cover five guys.
Oregon’s got some dudes at receiver who can win a jump ball.
Naw
Consider the context.
CU gives up more than 500 yards a game… about 200 of it on the ground.
Franklin’s a great player. If he or Nix go down, they’re in some trouble.
There seems to be 2 student Beavers now…
Oregon doesn’t look especially dangerous. Looks like a typical Oregon team. Fast, soft, beat up on bad teams. Nix might have taken a step forward, though. He looks more poised. That would make them a bit tougher if true. Won’t know until they play a good team.
Their RB looks and runs like Quizz
I like how CU’s LB is twice as big as him, but he tries to strip the ball, instead of tackling him, so he just keeps running for 15 more yards while this dude is busy playing with his arms.
Their Oline took a step back but they’ve upgraded big time at receiver, and their receivers can actually block.
Still think we match up fairly well with them because we’re deep at defensive end and outside linebacker but damn, wish Austin did not turn pro.
I’m sure the ACC is excited about the stellar performance of their new members this season. SMU goes down big to TCU for another loss.
Cant get myself to watch ACC games, Sean Mcdunnuh drives me up the wall
Nobody said you have to listen to the announcers.
I’m spinning Steppenwolf 7, right now.
The Duff’s are being exposed…..Hunter won’t change todays outcome. Our offense and rushing will break their spirit, just like we are watching vs Nike. The Fucks are legit, will be a hell of a game this year. We will have to bring our A game.

Hate saying it….23-20 Cougs.
Welcome to Pac12 football, Coach Prime.
A few things we all knew being shown today:

Of course, the media hype machine had to drag this out as long as possible. Wins against ASU and Stanford probably and I’m thinking that’s it. Sure, a big improvement from last season, but do the “experts” who were talking playoffs and crap know anything about O and D lines?
This Nix Heisman talk…lol. Just shows the machine behind these types of things.
Hilarious that Deion ran 85 guys out of town for that first half.

Yeah, that’s not happening.
UCLA has 49 yds at halftime
Colorado has 21 yds at halftime
Of the game today in Pullman, Wilner says, “This Saturday is about every Saturday for years to come.”
“People can watch these teams and say, ‘They play like power conference schools, but they aren’t going to be a part of it, really?” an industry source said. “So in that case, what does it really mean to be a Power Five school? Why isn’t Colorado running draws? Would kill this aggressive D. Bad coaching.
After WSU and Colorado both played Colorado State it boggles the mind how anybody had Colorado ranked higher than WSU. ESPN has gotta be paying people for votes
Deion coached a SWAC team. He hasn’t won the last 3 games on good coaching.
There is an impostor student beaver further up the thread. I am the real one.
Cut his head off.
There can be only one.
Really?
That one counts as one?
I want a recount.
Shedour Sanders won’t last the season based on how badly their line blocks. He will get injured sooner or later too.
Didn’t Lanning say there had been too many penalties and anyone who drew a flag was not gonna play?
Halfway through the 3rd and his boys have 6 for 60 yds…..anyone sitting?
Ducks up 42-0 and still playing Nix.
Waiting for the chippy cheap shot that ends a guys career.
If so, how does bspn and the talking head crew spin the narrative, given the bru-ha-ha on last weeks game?
CU playing a little dirty…
This is painful having to root for Oregon.
Don’t think we can beat this Oregon team at Autzen
We have a defense and on o-line…..We will be fine.
We’ll win if we pressure and finish on Nix.
Finally. Someone who agrees with me.
That’s nice, but UW is at home for that game.
And they will likely lose it.
27-24 Beavs!
DJU needs to have a good game and make them pay for loading the box. Hoping Noga has a big game!
Not ready for prime time lol
I feel like Oregon should have won by more. If anything this game is bearish for the ducks. Colorado is a 6 win team. Coaching is so bad…couldn’t even figure out a draw play.
3 for 9 on third downs, yeah, they should have done better especially with playing Nix so much.
How do you get them six wins?
I strugge to get them five.
Go Beavs!
Concerned about covering the underneath passes. San Diego State was killing us in the fourth quarter with underneath crossing routes and we could not cover them. If we don’t do this against Wazzu, it could be a long evening.
Need to tackle them as soon as they get the ball and can’t allow yac. The screen game has also hurt them a lot.
Yup
Oregon State 42 and Washington State 14
Screw the skeptics…OSU comes out like a mad dog looking for blood. Go time!!!
I think you have the score flipped.
LOL I think Dionne getting more camera time than Lanning post game
Ute D is legit….again. Whittingham is an excellent coach.
Rising may get his first start Friday? Without him it looks like Beavs by 17+
I don’t know. If he does start how rusty will he be? One thing to practice but another to get back up to game speed and timing.
Utes are always gonna be legit with Whittingham. He’s built that program on playing tough and physical. Glad we get them at Reser
JS on pre game radio says Martinez could have “high teens – twenty” carries today.
Seems to me if he gets 20 he may hit 150 yds.
Did he mention about anything about not covering the receivers on long bombs?
Cold BG, just cold.
Beavs haven’t beaten a ranked opponent on the road since 2012.
Tonight has to be the night.
Another monkey off the back
Terrible start
Coach lanning told his player that Colorado is playing for clicks and they’re playing for wins. Lol
He’s right.
#GoBeavs
What the fuck was that?
That’s game
Calm your tits junior
Ignore him whiskey
What I meant to say is I hope we can cover the go routes long down field lol
Miscommunication
Awesome start… way to go boys!
Now it’s personal
Oladapo fucked up
There we go. HEAVY dose of Martinez today
He fucked that drive up.
Theres your play action
Nice check down to Fenwick, but concerning that the players down field are not open
Beating ourselves so far.
Just every teenage boy…
They should’ve given it to the Jackhammer on third down. Lol.
Ya I wouldn’t mind seeing DJU take it up the middle there.
This team ain’t going anywhere this year playing like this.
If only we had some WRs that weren’t smaller than the ones on my high school JV team and could get open.
We should have push play where guys push DJU forward on short yardage situations.
Shit. We actually stink.
We’re gonna lose big
Crazy catch
Don’t panic
Could we have a worst start?
Yup. Get a stupid fucking penalty for on Cooper for being a dumb ass.
We cannot have three and outs on D. Our run game is our best defense.
It’s gonna be a loooooooonnnnng season
Poison Ivy
Seems like our lack of speed in the secondary is getting exposed trying to play zone.
IVY YOU IDIOT
That was Cooper
Bench him already
Our secondary is hot garbage. Penalties. If they’re not careful, this turns into a blowout.
This looks like a GA era game so far
Need to stop beating ourselves and settle down.
studentbeaver left the Civil War last year at halftime.
Are we in the first quarter still? Or is the game called after 2 touchdowns? Cmon JS teams have resilience and don’t give up.
That game was tied at halftime
Lmao no it wasn’t
What was the point of playing 3 different RBs on the first drive?
Fuck! Tibesar is back!
Beavs D is too off balance. That usually only gets worse. I think the opening QB run was a great call by WSU.
Do a push play like they did.
Hell ya!
Did fwnwick pull a Chad Johnson on the ball flip?
Cross the plane I hope
Too late to review now
Nice run by Fenwick
Now play defense.
Get a stop, D
Should’ve had time to make some adjustments
I thought he might have dropped the ball early too lol
Pick 6 coming up.
I don’t think we have the DBs to jump a route.
They’re throwing away from Robinson.
Zone defense is not this team’s strength.
Jesus’s wide open
Beavs secondary wearing roller skates? Goodness that was embarrassing.
WHY ARE THEY SO WIDE OPEN
Is chatfield been in yet?
yes
We can’t get any pressure on Ward cuz the Dlinemen aren’t creating rush lanes. Credit Wazzu’s Oline
Embarrassing tackling
Lolol. Defensive backfield looked like the keystone cops on that TD
All I can say is wow to that play. Just totally beating ourselves instead of them beating us.
Getting carved up.
That’s game.
Jeez. Exposed.
Everyone hating on me when I was pointing out our exact flaws and now said flaws are getting blatantly exposed lol.
Are you allowed to hold the TE on a passing route now?
Lucky spot
Issac hodgids is playing TE?
Hodgins with the good hands!
I never did get a stream organized…..from what I’m reading above maybe it’s just as well. What quarter is it and what is the score?
21-7 with 10 min left in 2nd qtr
21-7. WSU. 2nd quarter. Their qb is like 12/13 for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. Our secondary is garbage. We’re playing undisciplined. Very bad 1.5 quarters for sure.
Thanks much..
Please
Wow…. Time to put my namesake in at QB.
Might be a 6-6 team
This is an ambush.
Tailoring my 9-3 prediction to 8-4
Looks like we’re actually going to go out with a whimper.
Time for Chiles
Clemson was right about DJ. Street ball. Chiles time.
Clarify what “street ball” means. He seems like a prototypical QB. Stays in the pocket and isn’t much of a runner, so I’m confused what “street ball” is even supposed to mean here
It’s looking more and more like 8-4 is our ceiling this year
Beating ourselves. Need to try doing all runs like civil war.
Was that a bad call on the penalty. Aren’t they coached to do that?
That’s all on the O line.
Studentbeaver is about to run out of tissues and lotion. Stay hydrated.
Damn, I only got a 12 pack, don’t think I’ll have enough to finish the game.
I would advise you to start drinking hard liquor
This QB is good
I’m obviously gonna get hate for this, but we really got to question how invested we become in this pathetic program, whether it be the 30+ year losing season streak, now to the letdowns of last year and this.
Yup.
So much negativity unless we are winning the game haha. Like those fans in Eugene who leave early when down by 3.
We’re getting spanked right now, and there doesn’t seem to be any change coming. Our secondary is inept.
Well they’re beating themselves. That’s frustrating. If they weren’t doing that I don’t think everyone would be as pissed.
It is angrybeavs
Defense is getting absolutely exposed on the backend, and it’s a talent issue.
I don’t see how Bray can adjust to this.
Need to bump these receivers and throw the timing off.
This is the worst secondary performance I can remember in a long time. Cam Ward has huge windows to throw to on every single throw. This is a Tibesar looking defense. They look shocked and unprepared. Hard to believe they look this atrocious
We just don’t have the athletes who can cover the range necessary to play zone.
Finally a good deep.
Ball. Deep ball.
Offense is looking good but we won’t win this with our defense giving up a 10 yard pass every play.
Good streetball throw there to setup the TD eh?
At the game. wsu playing really well. Beavs will adjust. Dominating o line performance so far
Still have hope. Got to give wsu credit but lingren is calling a really bad game. Plus our WRs are getting beat bad
Just one stop on D please
Down 7 with 5 min till half; critical 5 mins coming up, what’s Bray got planned to get Ward uncomfortable?
Pressure hasn’t been getting there.
Got momentum.
There’s Ward’s fumble issues.
Nice
3:40 to go for a tie by half
Damn, Washington state is tackling really well that should’ve been a big gainer
Go for it.
Finally I agree with a Smith 4th call.
Fumblerooski
Wasted chance there.
DJU needs to move around a lil and make some plays. Shouldn’t be afraid to take off and run.
Chiles needs to play. Need to keep the defense honest. They are loading the box every play.
Terrible playcall
Yeah.
Still the right call given the free possession and low time on the clock.
What a dumb call on 4 th
Receivers can’t create separation.
Good to go for it, too long a play to develop when you know they’re going to blitz…
Coaching staff really dropped the ball in recruiting when it comes to wide receiver. These dudes are a complete non factor. DJ is gonna get blamed but none of them are getting open and can’t make contested catches. 4th and 7 and they were manhandled. It’s absolutely killing the passing game
WSU’s D is jamming the pygmy WRs and blanketing them. While Bray’s D is letting their WRs run free .
The Dline has nothing on WSU’s O line.
Their receivers are constantly wide open
And their quarterback actually moves in avoids sacks
They are going through our D like shit through a goose
What a turn that is. Yikes.
I’ve been less than impressed with DJU’s mobility in and to get out of the pocket. He just sort of lumbers around and hasn’t been a threat to run. Heck, Gulbranson made more of an effort to extend plays and get out of the pocket last year.
Yeah he sucks. Really slow decisions.
Yup
He doesn’t appear to have “it.” Doesn’t look like a positive game changer out there.
Apparently u can hold. Tell our Oline.
Game over
Team is pathetic. Team is pathetic.
You’re pathetic
Pull it together! Stop projecting!
D will be fresh for 2nd half, they haven’t even worked up a sweat yet.
Just cracked open the Crown Royal.
My bad. I bought the streaming package for this month before the game. Oops.
Time for bray to earn his paycheck and make some adjustments. Seems like their Oline is getting away with some holding. No wonder we can’t get to him.
If our defense is playing like this all year, we’ll be lucky to go .500
Why are you still here, no life?
Maybe leave and just come back to watch your ducks lose to the beavers again
As a Beav fan, Beavs ain’t beating the Ducks at Autzen this year playing like this lol
You’re not a fan, you never have been.
I don’t think you’re tricked anyone with your consistently wrong and negative observations
Observations have been negative, but that’s just the reality right now. Which observations of mine have been wrong?
Which observations have you made that are ever positive? And literally every game you make point that is false. You literally have no life but to spend time on thread of an opposing team to try to make false observations? You may hate being called out but it’s obvious.
You still don’t believe I’m a Beav fan despite saying I want all of the success. What false points have I made?
We are no match for the Cougs. Totally overmatched. We should embrace the mountain west.
Let’s see about halftime adjustments
This always like maybe the worst game/matchup on the schedule for the beavs.
StudentBeaver is correct. We are so overmatched against the Cougs. We’d be lucky to go 7-5
Studentbeaver got his mommy to post also?
Sockpuppet beaver
Ward has a legit chance to throw for 600 yds. This is starting off worse than even some of the bad showings against the Leach years. Only 1 incompleteness? That’s crazy. 300yds. 4td. Embarrassing.
Also, why aren’t we running some screens? Their D is going all out…gotta sprinkle a few screens in just to keep them honest. Is this the claasic Lingren game where he calls several great games and then just decides to lay an egg with the headscratching play calls?
There have been a couple of screens that included tipped passes
Do they pull DJ?
Still time to come back by running the ball, dominating time of possession, and keeping their offense off the field. Beavs win 43-42 after scoring last second TD to tie but go for 2 and the win.
Good Lord, has Wazzu improved that much in one year? Looks like a lot of the improvement is with the O-line. Ward has been able to do whatever he wants with no pressure. DJ has a cannon, but I’m becoming less and less impressed with the speed of his decision-making. He needs to take off and run sometimes.
Lots of transfers at receiver.
Also last year they had quite a few playmakers out when we played them.
Their O line is really killing us.
Let’s see if Bray and D can make some halftime adjustments
Offense just needs to run it down their throats.
It could all fall apart or could be just like game against the ducks last year
Imperative that we score on our first drive. Need to pressure Ward. Seems like we lost our identity with utilizing the TE’s. I still believe we can win but god damnit I don’t wanna see anyone but Martinez in the backfield.
Yes huge need to score. And I don’t think a tight end has a reception.
Wut? Fenwick has been a beast….
Bray has been good at second half adjustments let’s see what he dials up…still have to overcome poor tackling, miscommunication and poor coverage though
Still dominating with the run game but aren’t going to stay even in a shoot out
Blown coverages, poor tackling , stupid penalties can’t continue
Just continue to dominate them in the run game and don’t make dumb mistakes and it will be a close game in the end.
Good points, I’m with ya……this isn’t over yet.
Cougs haven’t had to punt once. That’s unnacceptable
Crazy idea. Put Chiles in and use DJ as a Jack Colleto type throwing here and there / feed Martinez.
I’m also high.
But it’s reducing how pissed I am so yeaaaaah.
Fox running PAC12 hype promo commercials is a ridiculous presentation given the irony of the game they are covering.
Chiles maybe to spark the offense?
What in the fuck was that fourth down Call? Jesus Christ.
Way to cute when you have the O-line we have.
How about a quarterback sneak
horrible play call
Yeah, that’s really bad from DJ. A QB has to make that throw. That might be the dagger tonight. Needed a TD there
Why not just get the yard by running it? Lol
RUN THE BALL
Why not run a fly sweep on the 4th? Play calling is killing us.
Or have your gigantic quarterback, just fall forward a yard
Hate that play call on 4th especially knowing DJ’s lack of touch. GODDAMMIT
Should have just done a QB sneak. Really really terrible play call.
Yup! That was playcalling malpractice
DJ really sucks. He’s worse at OSU than Clemson, right? Just put in Chiles if you want to at least try to save your season.
Good d adjustments so far.
JS gambles and gets away with it. Now run the ball and maybe give Chiles a series.
Good adjustments on D. Good job Bray!
Need a quick score.
That looked like a different D out there.
Now just run the dang ball, screens and slants
Run run run!
Put in BG!!
I’m less than impressed with DJ but Jesus our receivers are terrible, zero separation pretty much ever.
The play calling is not helping.
Pass blocking stinks!!
Fucking get Chiles in now.
Lindgren. You CANT go and throw it 3 in a row
Exactly. Idiotic. wtf is going on
Run the damn ball, not 3 straight pass fails and punt.
DJ need to pull the ball and run on that 2nd down
Need to put Chiles in. We can’t have DJ hold the ball all day.
Chiles time
DJ needs to be pulled sadly.
Just put chiles in.
Tonight is a sad night. Officially we will all die having never seen the Beavs make a Rose Bowl and other neat deals.
One game.
It’s one game that foreshadows the rest of the season.
The personnel issues got exposed tonight. Bray is going to be crucified but there is a serious lack of speed on the backend that is not his fault.
If we just ran we would be up.
Nice fuckin’ hit Oladapo
Are we happy with cookus? Feast or famine with him.
Damn Ward is pretty friggin good though
We are getting seriously outcoached
You are absolutely right.
Man that fake punt killed us
Turning this BS off if they score here.
Yes! Please leave
Good fan
Game.. that was a f’ing great catch
Kelly is having the greatest WR game I’ve ever seen
Coming out passing and then fake punt lost all momentum that the defense had gotten with two stops in a row.
So are we still happy with all hand holding feel good Cougs and Beavs in solidarity going into this game? Beavs got soft and are showing it today.
We’ve been soft 10 out of the last 11 against Wazzu.
Typically a soft Beaver is a good thing!
One has nothing to do with the other.
Screw this team, I’m out for now. Back to mediocrity yet again. Same old Beavs.
I thought you were leaving?
Bye Felisha
It is simple. OSU got out coached, not ready to play. Poor play calling and defense was not prepared. DJ is not the answer. It is Chiles time.
Losing Wright, Austin, and Grant really put this secondary in a hole. We’ve seemed to have lost the ability to play press man.
WSU stacks the box and we run right at them. Stupid play calling.
Use the TE, get a firstdown, who’d a thunk it
No kidding
Offense and play calling has laid the egg this game. Yes defense struggled first half, but have made appropriate adjustments. Only 14 points on offense at this point does not cut it
DJU hasn’t shown the ability to be a playmaker or even a game manager. He just stands in the pocket and accepts sacks. Move!
we thought we got Trevor Lawrence from Clemson but he’s just the second coming of Sean Mannion
Mannion could at least pass.
Lol
not against high level competition when it really counted. folded like k-mart deck chair
Why do you know so much about kmart deck chairs?
Run blocking great pass blocking not so much.
In solidarity with Wazzu… We decided to Coug the game
Don’t ya have to have a lead or, at least, be VERY close to Coug it?
It only counts in the 4th quarter
14 down, 14 minutes to go
Oh do we have a giant athletic qb? Maybe use that more. He’s doing better running than passing
One quick stop and it’s a game
Bounces off the fucking goal post. McCartan sure screwed us by missing that tackle.
Yeah should have been qb running more. It’s how WSU has kept us off balance all night.
It seems like DJU has it in his mind not to scramble. Design runs yes, but even just a scramble here and there keeps the defense honest
Maybe he should play baseball after all.
After watching that run I miss the jack hammer.
Is WSU the best team in the conference? Friday will be a good litmus test to see if we are this bad and WSU that good.
Why don’t we run more slants? Really effective pass…
Shitty play calling
especially since that’s what Smith was good at when he played
You need big receivers to run slants. Bolden and Gould would get killed by a linebacker.
How is that not a holding call?
Cougs with great clock management here.
Nice sack mccartan
Not!
17 down, 9 minutes to go
You could have just written “game”
Bigger comebacks have happened but probably not today.
We would need better pass blocking and need dj to play lights out.
Why would that suddenly happen? Lol.
If mccartartan get that sack that field goal is probably a miss. Just not making the plays u need to.
We’re going to have to nominate a COAT for AB morale.
We’re going to beat Utah.
With this matchup felt like the expected loss. I think going forward and the matchups we have still a great chance to put a good run together
Comment of the night but still downvote lol
I wonder if Smith would have rather rolled the dice this year with Chiles from the start but DJ transferred in and the optics were too challenging to stay with that idea.
DJ a little passive on the first down run, comes back with a better effort to move the chains
Did that say Nvidia on smiths headset?
No Nextiva
Oh ok lol.
Probably just nextivia. The Pac-12 sponsor
Why aren’t the receivers running go routes? Every time when it looks like they have a step or two they run a post or flag route and lose their separation.
383-120 Coug advantage in passing
DJI is putting up BG-level QB numbers. Maybe it’s not just the QB after all.
My god what stupid playcalling in the red zone
Tons of missed opportunities and missed plays and down 10 at this point. I think there are adjustments to make going forward but far and away not all is lost. Shoot bonked field goal that went in and it would be one score game. Add in the fake punt
Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Mediocre Mike shit.
Onside?
Our football team will never be ranked again. It was a nice and stress free three weeks.
Ok studentbeaver.
Prolly Nukebeav at this point
You still never showed us your sign that we were eagerly awaiting…
Lol, bad trolling just makes it good humor here
Coug it!
Why can’t we have nice things?
Time to coug it
Who? Us or rhem?
4th down fades might be the lowest IQ play call out there.
Work for years for Stanford.
Everyone should pray to the great beaver in the sky for the Washington State team, to pull off the ultimate Coug it..
Awesome our head coach doesn’t even know the new play cock rule
Lol. Maybe he is MWC material after all.
LOL
That was supposed to be clock
Maybe dj needs an uptempo so he doesn’t think too much?
So does Lindgren!
DJ will be back next year. Highest rated starting QB in the MWC.
Cam ward will be there too.
Oh Gould that was there.
FG
Why not kick the field goal
Why not 3 straight runs from the 5?
Kick the fucking FG!
Smith can’t be this low IQ right?
Phew
Does DJ have really bad mechanics on the overthrows? It looks like he just throws all arm sometimes and it sails high.
Use the TE, works again!
Jeez.
Terrible call that works.
Disagree. Not enough time to get a good TD look after onside
Yeah there would have been. Over a minute. Plenty of time with clock stops.
It’s pretty close either way. If Beavs kick there and then got the onside, they would have been lucky to get one play at the 5 yard line to tie.
Why don’t they play with that intensity the entire game?
Please fumble the onside Cougs…
that ended up closer than it looked like it might
Horse shoe and hand grenade U.
Damn Reichle could have had that.
Bad play by him. He was literally straddling the ball.
It’s like he was waiting for it to go 10 yards when it clearly went 12 yards. He was like a glitchy NPC in Madden football.
I thought it only went about nine yards and the Wazzu player almost “coug’ed it” by touching it. Reichele was right there.
Yup it bounced up and hit the coug player, live ball.
Onside kick call with 6 minutes left lost the game. Bad defense put us in a bad position where we felt like we had to.
The Smith Factor is real. I’d still prefer him over a MWC next year.
TBF the defense sucked. Our offense isn’t good to win games where the other team scores 38.
I have a feeling he’s staying with OSU if we go to the MWC because there are better candidates out there.
What a terrible missed opportunity!
Fuck I thought we got that! Never seen an inside like that but it’s easier to see it on the ground rather than in the air on a bounce I suppose…
Pretty cool play because the spin makes it harder to grab
Cougs played well at home, Beavs played poorly and made too many mistakes and still had a chance at the end. Not the end of the world.
Lost by 3 on the road to the #21 ranked team in the country. Could be worse.
This is an 8-4 team.
Sun Bowl here we come.
yeah. can’t see them beating UW or UO, and they will be challenged to win every time they’re on the road.
Cal and Stanford?
Are we just not watching college football this year?
Seriously.
Cal and Stanford?
Stanford is a middling Big Sky team this year.
You have to have not watched them play, if you think they’re capable of beating anyone without a lot of luck.
You mean Pop-Tarts Bowl
JS aggressively chewing gum marked the end of an era for us. Mediocre Western Conference here we come.
We should’ve ran hurry up the whole game
There didn’t seem to be a sense of urgency, which was both bad and good.
anyone who saw our pass D against San Diego State should have seen this coming. Just not a good match up.
There were some WTF moments against SDSU also. Didn’t one of their receivers drop a sure TD also?
D played better in 2nd half, and they didn’t quit
6-6 or 7-5???
Okay COTT time. We need a morale boost!
Maybe 94Beav around 4:45
“Zone defense is not this team’s strength.”
It’s better to lose early than late in season
It was weird seeing a Beav defense look completely clueless for a big part of the game. I think the players they lost were more impactful than we thought given the level of non-conference competition. The D played incredibly last year against some talented offenses, even when Utah scored 42, that was mostly on Nolan and all his interceptions.
Nolan
*Triggered*
IMO the game wasn’t as close as the final score.
Bingo.
WSU may end up as a 10 or 11 win team. Schedule lines up pretty nicely. Oregon and UW on the road are their only remaining tests.
FYI, Nobody will be offering JS $10 mil to take over their program.
My updated take on the year:
Losses to: Wazzu, Utah, UCLA, UW, Oregon, and possibly Colorado being a road game at elevation.
Penix and UW will absolutely tear this secondary to shreds.
Pathetic showing, and the whole program should be ashamed of themselves.
Also possible loss to Cal
Ok, now we know you are trolling with this comment
Based on?
UW and UO will be almost certain losses. Utah will also be favored pretty well versus us. UCLA is great at passing. Others we haven’t faced up well against on the road.
Utah is our biggest bugaboo.
UW and the University of Phil are also rans.
Friday is the Pac 12 Championship game
Fuck off with your Husky takes.
Also, did you watch UCLA?
You would be whining about your emotional breakdowns incessantly, if you wanted to comment on Moore’s game.
Are you on heroin?
I thought you were leaving.
I stopped watching the game. Not leaving the site until if/when get more than 8 wins this regular season.
Yeah… quitter.
Not unexpected.
?
^^^ Wisdom ^^^
Yeah… this can always be spun as a quality loss, especially if Wazzu keeps winning.
I would like for once to not have River Cracraft fever dreams. The one-handed catches are just par for the course.
I’m more bummed about the 35 bucks I spent on stream package for the month in case the team decided to do something this year tbh. Should’ve stayed away from this stuff like I did last year oops.
Congrats to WSU, but I expect them to coug the season when they have to start playing decent teams on the road. Dunno
Do I get an apology yet? Everyone freaked out at me for pointing out our very obvious flaws against SJSU and SDSU.
No
This is possibly your least whiny weenie comment.
Possibly.
Congrats.
Student Beaver is absolutely correct. This is a 7-5 team at best. Cal, AZ, Stanford only games we may win. Possibly Colorado. Will lose all other games.
Why are you agreeing with yourself?
lol… oh… you were serious?
Does anyone know what’s up with Alton Julian? Just not ready? Looks like the secondary will need all the help it can get.
Was wondering that myself. He was great. Haven’t seen him this year.
Not just the DBs. We only got one sack. Colorado State got three against the coogs. Wisconsin got four. Shitty effort.
Sorry, but are you just throwing out hypothetical whines about whiny whines?
That’s sorta like “fuck the fucking fuckers”!
Yeah… zones don’t work if you don’t bracket the outside, with a savvy QB.
We were extremely soft on the outside releases.
Ivy got called for the same stuff UO’s best db was doing. So not even Pac 12 reffing came to us.
That’s something Wazzu and OSU need to do–schedule the better refs for our games, and let USC, UW, and UO experience the complete suck.
I think Student Beaver is right. Every time people start getting their hopes too high with the Beavers they lose. Gotta keep those expectations low.
studentbeaver never said any such thing.
He said he wasn’t impressed. He said he feels like we won’t win some games. he’s projected some midland records, without any substance.
You can fuck off with your attempt to realize his passive-aggressive trolling.
Good assessment here.
The D not being there in the beginning hurt.
The dumb penalties are the difference in the game.
For some reason, we turn into the Ducks at Boise, when we play at Wazzu.
Why have they been trying to lean into the passing game so heavily these last few games when we are so poor at it overall? Honestly it could be smart for us to convert to a service academy style triple option offense.
?
All is not lost even after such a dreadful outcome.
WSU showed that they will be a tough out for everyone too.
One loss doesn’t end the season but Beavs need to even the score with Utah next week and build from there. There is a good chance that everyone will get a loss along the way based on how strong the conference is right now.
Even ASU has USC struggling tonight.
JS will hit reset with the team and learn from Wazzu but it was a disappointing showing for sure.
everyone spaZzing out and we are 2.5 pt favs friday…relax
Friday makes the season.
Utah has always been the mountain we need to climb. It’s why @Wazzu was a trap we stepped in.
Rising has been practicing without limitations, but it’s not clear Whit is making him available. He could just be that rusty.
But we’ll see what happens on After Dark.
Smmmmiiiiithhhhh is turning into Miiiiiiiiiitchh
lol… so dense
Go away….please go away
Safe to say that I don’t think a whole lot of players on defense are going to transfer out of the program if we move to the Mountain West.
I don’t put any of this loss on Bray.
Josh Kelly’s left hand is lethal.
How does Wazzu end up finding these amazing receivers? It’s not even Wazzu. It’s the Palouse, with EWU, as well.
Maybe we need to be recruiting Fresneck a little more than we do the training preps in LA.
According to his WSU bio, the Beavs tried to recruit him out of high school, but he ended up signing with hometown Fresno State. Transferred to WSU after catching only 12 balls last season for the Bulldogs.
Also, three plays the back judge gets in the way of DJ’s second read. Twice were wide open and had YAC, but the ref was in the way.
It’s like, wtf are you doing over there? get back to the middle of the field.
Wazzu played lights out. Some of those catches were unreal. Beavs couldn’t contain Ward, or capitalize on turnovers.
Re-watched game, this morning.
But it just got real.
lol… Luke Falk Curse… conflated with Kevin Faulk
I like Jake Dickert.
https://www.si.com/college/2023/09/24/washington-state-jake-dickert-slams-espn-lee-corso
No nonsense.
…not speaking on FOX, but on the PTN… cool.
I can see some of us turned the TV off in the middle of the 2nd quarter.
If the Beavers, by your estimation…
Had one of the worst defensive efforts in the last 30 years
Out schemed
Played against a team with better talent
Were mismatched
Yet, fought to the end…
And we lost by just 3?
That’s a winnable game.
Hahaha!!! I hear about getting old!
His accuracy is so off lately, I wonder if he has some type of hand injury?
I didn’t see anything too off. One or two misses aren’t going to worry me, and the rest were well-advised throwaways. There’s no reason to risk a receiver getting smacked for some ego pass.
The back judge was in the way a couple times. That didn’t help.
A better 4th down call would have helped, as well.
Spot on re: well-advised throwaways.
Short receivers that can’t seem to get open will lead to that.
DJ and the WRs/TEs probably though they were up to speed and ready for league play, turns out they were just practicing against OSU’s secondary.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that too about DJ in the pocket. He’s a statue back there. He needs to move around to extend the play or run it if no one is open.
Cougs had to play out of their minds to beat us by 3 at home.
I predict right now that Chiles will break the streak at Martin, in spectacular 2025 fashion.
That fake was an instant classic, though.

CU? Seriously? We’ll just hand the ball off all game.
Why would we even bother trying to finesse them?
UW at home will be fun. Autzen will be a test.
But… first, there’s Friday. The Pac 12 Champions need to be dethroned.
Yeah but the other team gets the ball half the time.
All CU does is pass, and the D line has no push. Sanders will have all day.
CU’s O-line is terrible, as well.
Even Nebraska made them look like sieves.
Until we stop a high octane offense I’m worried. I’m worried about CU scoring 45 points through the air. Travis Hunter should be back also. Yeah their lines aren’t great and we should be able to run the ball, they have shown the ability to score quickly. I know, its a long season.
lol
Would you look at that? We finally have enough cachet to not drop out of the top 25 after one loss.
Only a fan of the losing team would say this wasn’t as close a game as the final score indicated. Beavs were literally one onside kick recovery – which they almost got if Reichle had located the ball – away from likely tying the game and sending it to OT. It almost doesn’t get any closer than that.
Or even one QB sneak away on a 4th and 1.
They convert that then they effectively run out the clock in the first half and prevent a Wazzu touchdown.
Not sure what they were thinking, when the push play works.
We don’t need to be fooling anyone with the playcall.
WSU never punted. Our defense got obliterated. It wasn’t that close!
And we had only 2 punts, BFD. 3 points don’t lie. But by all means go kick your dog over a tough loss on the road against a ranked team.
So WSU pulled up because we’re conference buddies? They were trying to finish us for 4 quarters and the beavs clawed back.
Basic math has obviously eluded you, but being a U of O guy I’m guessing you already knew that. See you in November, hope you figured out how to stop a team that runs it
Did Julian record any snaps? I didn’t see him on the stat sheet.
