Ban the Oregonian

Between Moran and Canzano…if you click their articles or listen to the show, you are supporting their bashing of OSU. I’m all for bashing OSU when it’s rightful, but in this case it’s not (for all the reasons mentioned in the posts below).

Link.

Retweet this if you agree.

It’s in your hands. If you read their garbage, then you have no right to complain. Go Beavs.

  1. I alluded to the fact after the CWS that if Heimlich played again Canzano and others would find a way to protest. I’m just sort of stunned that they are really doing it. I wish I could hack in to the O-Live comments section and post “adjudicated minor” over and over and over. What a fucking hypocrite.

    • I can hack their comment section.
But I’m not sure that would matter.

Beaver fans need to stop reading or shut up about what they write. It’s one or the other.

      • I looked at the twitter headline. I don’t need to read any further, but it will be in the paper edition tomorrow morning. I am cancelling my subscription. I don’t think anyone should shut up. This is a smear campaign and it’s important to know what the enemy is doing. You called out Brenda Tracy. Canzano should be called out. I knew this was going to happen. I just think these “advocates” (sarcastic quotations) never really believed that Heimlich would play. They are going to try to destroy him once and for all.

        • Brenda Tracy’s an innocent tool. The more you prod her, the more she retreats to the bunker. You’re going to not find a solution with her until she steps out of her comfort zone, and trying to force her to do so will be seen as everything bad that’s happened to her thus far.

Concentrate on Dolphin Boy. He’s the one who will get the Puh-lease-itzer out of this… and a better job… in a better town than this dump… with a sucky hoops team.

He wants to matter. He wants… things. He wants to be acknowledged by his peers in the same breath as Scott Herhold, Jen Engel and Grantland Rice. They’re misunderstood by everyone too.

          *sniffle*

God hates felonious punks. God told him so. Hallelujah and amen.

Is Heimlich a Mexican name? That would seal his sanctimony.

    • Just tweet Dophin Boy Canzano and invite him out for a beer to one of his very favorite sponsors of his radio program….it’s the DolphinII Strip Club, but John will deny his knowledge that HIS radio program is or was sponsored by them. I don’t know if he’s dropped their sponsorship or not because I don’t listen to that hypocritical turd’s program anymore…..the guy is a consummate douche bag hypocrite.

      • Canzano already invited me out for a beer and said he appreciates my passion. If I am in the area I will meet with him and educate him on why he’s a complete dolt, but that might be a while. If the football team is ever good again it will warrant the trek out there.

  2. I saw a couple more tweets from Canzano. I noticed that one made it sound like “they” have new information on the case. Some phrase about “more to come”. I’m confused because the Washington laws seem so clear. There should be nothing else here. It’s done, the general public knowing about this should have never happened in the first place.

      • That’s unfair.

She’s allowed to care for her daughter and make big mistakes along the way. She’s apparently made enough to not be the custodial parent… even through all this.

      • If I’m following you, it looks like this “parent” may be the angle those sleaze bags will be trying to get their new information from since all legitimate information is already out there and too logical for them. I fear the mother will start saying the molestation happened for a longer period and more times. It sadly seems to make some sense as the Oregonian still seems to be playing offense with this story when they should be retreating into their vile hole.

        • Yes, and attacking her for at least loving her child and wanting to care for her despite maybe making huge mistakes along the way might not really be her fault. She may not be all there. She may think what she’s doing to publicize her 12 year-old daughter’s plight might jog her daughter’s memory?

There’s a possibility she’s correct, and it wasn’t just her trying to spin her daughter’s memory of Luke the grumpy teenage uncle helping her daughter go potty (because families act like families sometimes) into something nefarious for her own vengeful gain. If we find out six years from now that this girl remembers everything (contradicting her non-custodial mother’s story) and it is exactly as told by her mother, then I won’t feel differently about the Groanian reporters who are either evil or doing much more damage to whatever cause they think they’re supporting than good that could possibly occur.

Dolphin Boy passed that mark long ago. He is now doing some deal with the devil type scenario where he tries to spin the one honest story that landed in his lap into some sell-out version of a story about him.

    • I wouldn’t hold my breath. That’s Canzano’s tactic to make people think he knows more than you and get you to read his next story which will more preaching of his own personal truth.

      • Trust me, I’m not holding my breath on anything more, I just don’t trust the sleazy bastard and his paper. Sort of unfortunately, this policy announcement for OSU opened the door for additional fake outrage on a concern that should be over.

    • Read the article, thanks for posting. So its okay for him to go to school. But its not okay for him to participate in sports? Does that mean he can’t participate in Intramurals? Or what about Mens Cross country? OR a sport that just isn’t visable, like baseball. Dodd asked if this would be an issue if he were a walkon on the baseball team suggesting it wouldn’t. Same can be said if the Heimlich played a less profile sport. The only reason we know any of this is that he plays baseball. Would Moran have run the same article on an athlete that played Mens Tennis? Double standard all over the place

Then he asks these AD sources, have any of them read the evidence of whats out there on this case or are they just responding to Dodd’s generalized questions?

    • Wow, I did a professional comment about Washington law and adjudicated minors and that Dodd might want to research it before posting his mock outrage and it was never allowed to appear. I think that combination of words has been banned by every douche bag site that wants to convict Heimlich again.

  3. I tuned into Dan Patrick this morning and realized that Bozo was the guest host. I switched as soon as I realized it. The few sentences I heard he was already knee deep setting up his moral perch and mentioning Penn St, Baylor, Mich St…so in light of this tweet, he probably put OSU on blast on a national show just to set up his next article to prove how sanctimonious he is to everyone who doesn’t yet know his act.
It is pretty simple to see his schtick is to create click-bait in whatever way possible. He is positioning himself as the bald white male voice of the ‘MeToo” movement to a national audience, given his over reach on B Tracy and now his self appointed expertise to equate LH stuff with it all. He is a low-class carny barker at best. Pure stubborn, greedy ignorance with an extra-large helping of arrogance and hypocrisy. Yellow journalism of our time.

I hope LH’s family has plans to sue and bankrupt the Oregonian if he isn’t drafted this summer.

  4. Hey angry did u send that letter from the Washington lawyer to any of those clowns? Also I’m blocked from ur Twitter for some reason. I’m never on there and don’t think I did anything to be blocked. Just want to retweet the above tweet.

    • No true point guard…ive said all season long that Katie is better at ball handling and better court vision because of he length..she should be bring the ball up the court and they should bring gulich to midcourt as an outlet to take some of the pressure off the ball. They’ve done that occasionally.

    • Because they don’t practice press breaks. We’ve talked about this before. If you practice press breaks, you can get the ball down the floor without it touching the floor once. And you usually end up with a lay-up or a wide-open jumper if you don’t just pull it out and run your half court.

You don’t need to dribble ever to break a press. You need to pass and move. And the only way to be proficient at it is to practice it. Just like everything else that looks tentative, you can tell what is and is not practiced by watching teams play.

        • She had a dramatic step-up from her junior season when she was decent. This year her play has been mostly outstanding. I think she’s a much better and more versatile player than Hamblin was. Certainly more athletic. She should be in the conversation, at least, for PAC-12 POY. She will be sorely missed in the post next year.

    • Katie has become the go to gal when they need a basket in crunch time. She has really become more assertive over the past 4-5 games. This is really going to really going to help the beavs down the stretch as well as next year.

  5. OT: Watch the Ducks get gifted 3 pts in OT by the refs on a Bando 3 that clearly bounces up and hits the shot clock on top of the backboard. I guess it is probably the kind of thing that USC needed to just overcome on their own. Duck girls have been the conference darlings since the start of the season. I can’t get the link but it is the highlight of the game on Pac12 twitter.

    • I saw that waiting for the game to start. Those refs were reviewing every play in the final minute of regulation, only to ignore the 3 in OT.

      • The announcers suggested the officials would wave off the basket but they didn’t. I don’t know the particular rule, but I was pretty certain when the ball hits the top aide of the backboard it’s out of play…..I might have to Google it though. If it turns out the basket should not have been allowed, then the No call certainly affected the game taking the lead from 2 to 5 points.

          • But it didn’t just hit the top of the backboard, it hit the structure holding the backboard and bounced back. The way I read it, that’s out of bounds.

          • Go fuck your self angry, I simply posted a link. I didn’t see the play nor do I have any interest in watching it. I was curious so I googled top of backboard and that was the link.

          • So you didn’t see the play, yet you came in to disagree and say the refs didn’t miss the play. Good job. Point confirmed: you are now here simply to argue with anything you can.

          • No, I posted a link because another poster asked

“Did you ever find out what the rule was on that”

I didn’t argue with anyone until you decided to get involved because you are a whiney bitch when someone doesn’t agree with you.

I have now watched it, I don’t see where it hits the shot clock like ohiobeav claimed.

You can definitely make an argument that it hits a “supporting structure” but its pretty easy to see how a ref wouldn’t see that since the “supporting structure” it hits is on the top of the backboard.

About 52 seconds into this video you have a pretty damn good shot of where the ball hits. The only thing it clearly hits is the part of the top of the backboard where the bolts that hold the backboard to the supporting structure are located. I’d say that is both a “supporting structure” and only the top of the backboard. Seems like a bit of a gray area.

It definitely does not hit the shot clock.

Now, if that is me arguing so be it. Watch the video for yourself.

          • Oh jesus, no I posted the link. I didn’t originally even see the point about it hitting the shot clock. I had only read greatswanmi’s comment which implied it hit the top of the backboard, than I googled it because someone asked the question.

But you win. This site has turned into nothing but groupthink at this point. Nothing good comes from such sites so you guys enjoy the circle jerk.

          • See ya. It was a neat deal while we had you around, and I’m sure you’ll fit in great on one of the cheerleader sites.

            AB fleshes out another weakling.

          • Yes, I did watch it. I still had no desire to watch it but you are right that I should have watched the play before commenting so I decided to watch it anyway. It had NOTHING to do with arguing.

You win, the refs blew the call, probably because of a conspiracy to help the Ducks win for the Nike money. That fits the narrative of this site now right?

          • Did I miss whether that type of play is reviewable? I’d like to know that because it should have at least been reviewed if that was allowable.

    • Not yet. In my anger, I forgot that my wife needs the paper edition for small part of her job, we are trying to figure out an alternative. Their delivery service is also shitty in my area. We have one more invoice to pay, so we need to figure out something, pay the bill and I will tell them. They don’t care though, they just have call center type people answering the phones.

        • She is going to look into a work around next week. Her company doesn’t reimburse her and she hasn’t pursued that angle since we had the subscription before she started the job. I say screw them and cancel it, she can use other sources.

FYI- Canzano’s article did not appear today. I’m guessing they are saving it for tomorrow.

  6. To state the obvious, if you are looking for alternatives to the big whoreogonian one source is the Corvallis Gazette Times. A decent recap there now of both the baseball win and the WBB victory.

For all the love Marie has, deservedly, gotten here, I gotta say I still hold my breath when she dribbles from the high post. She was forced to do that last night and many fans around me also gasped. And how about that three she attempted a couple games ago? That said, I really appreciate her leadership and the vast improvement she’s shown under the bucket. She has better hands than Ruth, from what I’ve seen. As said, we will miss her; looks like a rebuild coming next year…..hope improved point guard play helps get the team past the learning at post which is sure to be seen.

About Kat and her fire; it’s all in the eyes! Pivec and others are just as competitive but Kats eyes show her passion more than anyone else on the squad.

    A couple GT links:

They also have a story up about a sweep at the softball tourney.

    • Yes, I use the Portland Tribune and the Gazette for Beaver sports news. My wife unfortunately needs some information The Oregonian providers for her job.

      • Yes, the Trib does some good work. I am always impressed with the scope of Eggers work; wonder if he has a support staff? He covers so much more than just the Beavs.
Day to day = GT, In depth= Trib/Eggers

        • Eggers was actually starting to get some edge to his writing at the end of the GA era, but now that his buddy Simple Jack is back it’s all sunshine and rainbows again. That said, he is actually a real journalist and he does really nice work.

          • He has blinders on regarding the Smilin’ One because of their friendship but that also gets him nice information at times. He is a good, solid journalist. He quickly detected The Oregonian’s bullshit regarding the Heimlich case and should get plenty of kudos for doing so.

          • I expect that from Eggers.

My expectation from Eggers to be good is based on him being good all the time on everything. I respect a storyteller. I suspect he has a couple good books in him.

          • The Eggers/Riley relationship was annoying when Kerry continued to defend Riley the head coach, when it was obvious that Bikester was well past his shelf life. I would imagine Kerry feels somewhat vindicated by the cluster that was GA?

          • It may more the cluster that wasn’t Bikey where GA was concerned. The talk of sabotage in our ranks is really really disturbing.

But there’s really nothing to take from GA’s tenure either way. He sucked at a lot of stuff. He really increased the athleticism and talent on the field, except for WR, TE and QB. The former two simply maintained already decent levels, and the latter is what it is.

All of that is done, and 9 gets to develop his own QB now, Fit that in with some decent DL recruiting, and we should be pretty decent.

  7. OT- I have the Northwestern/MSU game on in the background. Northwestern was ahead 43-16 in the first half and MSU just tied it up at 53 with nine minutes to go. I hate Sparty.

MSU won 65-60. NW scored 11 points in the second half. I feel a little better about all of the Beavs second half collapses this season.

    • Parker is “an acquired taste”, Warren doesn’t rise to even that standard. The guy helping Warren (Doug Blair?) is doing his best to help.

So far I haven’t heard Warren go in to a long explanation of the technical difficulties of engineering the broadcast; that comes up frequently on the JBS and has in the past been part of the baseball broadcast as well. Brutal.

  8. Canzano had several tweets yesterday calling out Oregon State fans and saying if you oppose him “your argument begin and ends with “Go Beavs” ”
and threatened there would be “more to come” with the Heimlich story. Now, all of those tweets have been deleted.
He often deletes his old tweets to cover his tracks. Yet another example.

      • Good for them.

Let’s get to the part about how he himself is really really abhorred, and other words synonymous to abhorred, with Luke Heimlich’s sexy feloniousness of various criminalatings and Oregon State saying yes, yes, yes to the violent raping women… for clicks.

        Wait… he’s really doing that?

        He must be evil.

        He’s evil

    • I saw that “more to come” crap from him yesterday. A couple of us in here were speculating that he thought he was going to get some scoop from the non-custodial ex-wife, but it was probably a bluff. There is no more, there really should not have ever been anything to begin with according to the state of Washington.

Why can’t people take the emotion out of this and accept how the law worked in this case? Look, if God forbid, Heimlich does something like this as an adult, let the full force of the legal system come down on him. Otherwise, it’s over, “timed served”. Obligation met. Why is this so hard to understand?

      • Be respectful.

        Non-custodial mother.

Understand that she has her own reasons for wanting to protect a child, and those reasons could become skewed and irrational if it’s your child.

I don’t like that the lead to her quotes in Moran’s story was that she really didn’t remember any/much/a lot of that, because it then bothers me that other survivors clearly state that they don’t forget a gawdamn thing… ever. When someone leads with an indicator like this, and you accept it, you leave yourself open to being a tool. I think I called Moran a tool last June.

I’m sincere with my sympathy (empathy?) for Moran once he realizes the societal and personal damage he accepted in the name of… what?

A bunch of sanctimonious shit has been slung and continues to be flung. This is why I cal Dolphin Boy evil. Despite any whining about anything he’s written or said ever, he gives no indication that he’s not intelligent enough to read and understand the terminology. He has chosen to double down on killing the civilized society for his own aggrandizement.

I use the word evil knowing full well it is a subjective term given its origin. But I feel confident in the use of it here. I believe it’s objectively a decent term for a certain level of psychopathy given how its origin is entwined with the lexicon.

    • Yeah.. I’m insecure in anything I say, so I have to add “Go Beavs.”

Dolphin Boy can suck it. I got it all over him every day in every way always, and I pity him.

      Damn the definitives!!!!!!!!!!!!

Him and Dumbshit make me feel good about myself. I ain’t them.

      • So Dolphin boy’s main argument is that Beaver fans are defending Heimlich because they want to win? I guess there might be a little of that out there in fandom, but I could care less. Casey has turned it into a legacy program, he will win without Heimlich. I’m defending him because he complied with the justice system as a minor.

  9. As I understand it, “more to come” can’t come from Washington State records. Case is closed? So it would have to come from the non-custodial parent – in which case, please have a bloody good lawyer standing by – not the one that advised the guilty plea – who can sue, sue, sue. Even Canzano must know he can’t quote the non-custodial parent just because he wants to but I fear he is on a mission.

    • I sort of wish OSU could have made their “policy announcement” after the baseball season was over. It’s created a blood in the water situation for the self-righteous sharks who want Heimlich’s carcass. It gave The Oregonian a reason to beat the Heimlich dead horse again because it was easy to tie his situation into the policy change even though Luke’s answer to self-reporting would have been a no thank you, does not apply to me.

    • More to come will probably have something to do with the mom having notified Oregon State well in advance of last season, of Heimlich’s legal issues and having those notifications fall on deaf ears.
My guess is he’s going to turn this into OSU putting winning ahead of morality, all while Canzano exploits the Heimlich family for more clickbait.
You just know there’s no way the mom stayed quiet througout Heimlich’s college career and then just decided last March to finally run to Danny Moran and say something for the first time. She’s had this axe to grind with the Heimlich’s since she went through the divorce and lost custody of her child.

      • Since they are stymied on the legal angle and the rehabilitation of adjudicated minors, you’re right, if they have a strategy it will be to beat OSU over the head with a morality club. Timelines, who knew what when…blah, blah, blah. Even though again, all must be seen through the prism of Luke’s status as a minor who was successfully rehabilitated.

      • Did anybody find out why the mother doesn’t have custody or at least partial custody of the child? That is a rare happening in family courts unless the mother is a felon/druggie/all around scum bag, or she just gave up the custody.

        • The why isn’t important.

Haven’t you learned anything? She’s garbage because in a world where white men rule, women are advantaged in this one sector… and she couldn’t take advantage of that bias.

In accepting the above statement, you must accept white privilege.

      • Ed Ray just needs to put out a statement saying they’ve know all along about Luke’s past and his adjudication, and letting him enroll at OSU was and still is the correct decision for his particular situation.

        • They’ve pretty much stated all that.

Look… they can’t say much about it in the first place. The reason you all are upset about it is because they can’t speak in anything but vague terms which encapsulate all students. I don’t know why people can’t accept that. I understand the few who think something with more forceful language should have been stated. I agree with Ray i that something more forceful can always be said, and we can reserve the right to be right in thoughtful degrees.

  10. Does anyone know how our attendance numbers for our ladies’ games stack up against the rest of the PAC? That atmosphere for the UCLA game was rockin.

      • It’s a great place to watch hoops… if they would just put benches back in and not think that only tiny people get to sit near the court. My one complaint about Gill has always been that I can only be near the court on the end lines and when we suck, and I can put my feet in the chairs in front of me.

        Seatbacks suck.

        • If I’m 76 and sitting in seatbacks, I’m going to stand for the whole game. Sitting in those seats for any length of time is not an option.

  11. I see missed FTs tonight.

If you want to know my idea about FT shooting, I will say that I would drill a team to shoot from everywhere in the circle in continuous live drills and not worry about them shooting FTs because I know they’re familiar with variables.

FTs are only in the head. That’s why they’re free.

      • I’m not a paying customer, just tested the link and went right to the article.
CORRECTION: the link now goes to a teaser summary of the article which includes the relevant remarks by Rogers as well as the comments which display the Martin Meyer article; along with one comment which links to Eggers recent piece.

Looks like you have to be a facebook person in order to post a comment there, but reading the article and the comments is no problem. Be sure to click the “more” at the bottom of the comments area.

Ms Carlton appears to have posted the entire piece by the attorney, Martin Meyer. Again, well done!

      • They can’t seem to help themselves. I wonder how much pressure there is on these “journalists” to generate clicks? Dodd’s story is Canzano on steroids it’s so far off the mark (chuckled at the anonymous AD quotes) and Rogers is an uninformed fool (well I guess he’s informed now).

Also, me being cynical, some of these outlets seemed to have marked their calendars for the start of the Beav season and waited to see if Heimlich would pitch. Otherwise, they could have done the same protest articles when it was clearly announced he would be welcomed back on the team many months ago. Nothing has changed except timing.

        • People do seem to forget that Ed Ray looked into the situation (which was against protocol, exceot OSU didn’t really have a protocol for dealing with a 12 year-old girl being outed by what used to be a major paper.

He handled it quickly (as quickly as investigations can be done… ahem… NCAA), and he said OSU would welcome Luke as both a student and an athlete.

But Ed Ray’s one of those Ivory Tower types who is detached from reality.

          Right?

He doesn’t know any better than a hack reporter what’s what… except when to shut the fuck up before he gets in serious legal trouble.

    • I could read most of it. Most heartening was a comment that Luke would be drafted, he would get his life back, and that the concerned, first poster’s 19-month-old daughter “would be just fine.”

  12. The CLOWN just popped up on the local espn radio channel here in Cali. He sucks,
Kinda whiney and heard to listen to. First time hearing him on Radio. Bummer

  13. Jones making the best of his unusual starting role; he is more than a pinch runner!
2 RBI’s with 2 outs, 2 strikes, and bases full, good job.
    5-1 Beavs.

  14. Marie just made a spin and drive to the basket from 12-14′ out, having a great start. 18-8 good gals.

Scott hasn’t rested her yet; cause it’s her day?

  15. Gals win! 69-63.
With 3.5 minutes to go they were forced to break the press, not because of a plan, but because time was running short to get past the midcourt. The kind of passing that Jack has called for as a press break…only due to SC’s pressure in back court.

    • OSU is about as white as it gets but for some reason I feel like this is some bullshit excuse. I’ve never heard any such racist garbage at Gill, reser or Goss. Not saying it didn’t happen but to act like that was a crowds worth of bullshit is just that, bullshit.

        • She appears to be a crybaby/hot head, she tried going off at me on Twitter, and I wasn’t even ‘talking to’ her, then she quickly deleted those tweets. If one idiot yelled something at her that sucks but to try and characterize ‘osu’ as some racist fan base is pretty weak

    • Will anyone be surprised if this tweet becomes the (unsaid) reason to deny a host spot?
Not that the record and proximity to nikegon won’t be enough to be sent on the road.

      • Ron Callans call was pretty obvious about spectators shouting about horrible one sided calls throughout leading to a phantom flagrant tech on Gullich, then Scott got T’d up shortly after. you could hear fans over the radio calling for either players or refs to “stick to the game”., Ron said some booing/chattering at one of USC bigs when she fouled out. Racism seems like a leap, but there was a lot of emotion in the 2nd half.

Now Olive will have another successful OSU sport to attack and undermine via specious claims.

        • Actually, it wasn’t a phantom call at all as the USC defender stopped Marie’s elbow with her chin. It certainly wasn’t intentional and I think the rule is any contact to the face or head is a flagrant technical to protect players. Like I said it wasn’t intentional unfairness definitely sweet chin music. Yet, USC players are very physical much like UCLA is. The most disappointing thing I noticed was pivecs continued sloppy play. She does a lot of things that help the team.such a rebound well but her ball handling, passing and inconsistent perimeter game has hurt the beavs too. She was very solid last season and I expected she’d be even better this year but she has looked off all season long and you can even see the frustration on her face.

Here’s a little interesting piece of information that I found out from someone that knows Evina westbrook who plays for Tennessee. She is apparently homesick and is considering a transfer back to the state of oregon…if that’s accurate, there’s a good chance osu is where she could land…she would be a great addition to the OSU roster in two years so we shall see.

  16. Larnach is 8-for-9 in his first three games, and has also drawn three walks to start the season. Of those eight hits, five have gone for extra bases – two doubles and three home runs – en route to seven RBI. He has reached base safely in 11 consecutive plate appearances after striking out in his first at bat of the season in the win over New Mexico on Friday.

  17. Bases loaded single with two outs nets Adley 2 more RBI’s.
7-2 good guys, still batting in the b4 with runners at corners and Gretler at bat.

  18. Hopefully Larnach can break out of this slump…0 for 2 with 2 walks in his last 4 plate appearances dropping his BA to a pedestrian .727 on the year

    • Scott “you can T me up, but you can’t shut me up” Rueck weighs in on the tournament selection at the end of Eggers piece on Marie’s final regular season game Sunday.
      He says:

“We probably have some more work to do,” Rueck said of playing host to a regional, “but there is absolutely a chance.” … “RPI factors in a little too heavily on opponents and their strength of schedule, and their opponents’ strength of schedule,” Rueck said. “I don’t think anybody would say we’re the 43rd best team in the country, yet RPI says that.”…
“The selection committee is wise enough to look beyond it. It’s one factor, but it’s not the ultimate deciding factor. How you finish matters a little bit more.”

There is more in the article.

  19. Kendall Rogers, in the D1 Chat today responds to a question by “Bob” who asks “Kendall or Aaron, how do you think Luke Heimlich should proceed regarding his past issue? ”

Bob — Here’s the thing. My interactions with Luke (interviews and such) have always been pleasant. I have nothing against the kid. IF he did it, I hope he found his faith and is now a much different guy. IF he didn’t do it, I think he should explain the why and more. He needs to clear his name, and hiding behind it all is NOT the way to do that. As a matter of fact, if he waits to open up until, lets’ say, May, it will look like he’s just trying to get drafted instead of being sincere.

I think we’ve been very fair to Luke. I see both sides of the coin here.

No Paywall to deal with, and there are a couple other questions dealing with the Beavs.

    https://d1baseball.com/chats/top-25-chat-monday-feb-19/

    • Or, maybe under the advice of his legal counsel, he has been told to say nothing especially if his attorney intends to file a libelous and defamation of character suit against The O and some of their so-called sports journalists (unprofessional and unethical hacks). So, for someone that’s not close to his legal team or their intentions, it’s really presumptuous to suggest what Luke should or shouldn’t do at this point in time. My best guess, and yes it’s only a guess, Luke is waiting for the end of the season to either file a suit and/or clear his name. Nobody has the right or the privilege of telling Luke what he should or shouldn’t do unless it’s his attorney and family.

IMO, he has every right to play for OSU, get drafted, but most of all, people need to just let this go…The State of Washington Judicial System certainly has because Luke has successfully completed all of his legal obligations.

The only people who won’t are the ones that demand revenge based on emotions and not facts. Those are the same ones that probably have many, many skeletons in their own individual closets who protest with the greatest amount of indignation….John Canzano is one of the first that comes to mind that hypocritical piece of garbage. Maybe he can see Stormy Daniels live at Starz this May in Beaverton. At a minimum, maybe he can ask her to sponsor his radio show on 750 The Game…I mean why not? He had no problems with sponsorship from the DolphinII Strip Club for all of their years of paying sponsorship….BOOM!.

        • Yeah… I don’t get why it has to be about the reporters when he probably loves his family and wants to protect them any way he can… and probably has directions from both parents and counsel.

I do find it funny that real sports guys go to draft status as motive for not sating their curiosities. It puts Dolphin Boy’s look-at-me-and-my-hypocritical/fake-outrage in perspective.

        • Agreed. Another possibility that people don’t seem to consider is maybe it’s a stipulation in his plea agreement that he can’t claim innocence publicly. But these sports writers are just saying he needs to speak up because they want the story to continue. If he is guilty, then the story is done. We know he was adjudicated, we know he was rehabilitated, and we know there is no legal or policy reason he shouldn’t be at OSU and playing baseball. End of story.

          • Good point. You know as I’ve thought about the possibilities of what really could have happened given that Luke’s continued insistence that he did not molest his niece….I don’t know the timing of his brother’s and sis-in-law divorce, but if it coincided with the alleged incidents….and there was a custody battle over the little girl….I just wonder if her mother might have suggested something like, “they’re going to take you away from me and you’ll never get to see me again unless….” I know it sounds crazy and far-fetched, but some in custody battles will resort to all sorts of things in order to maintain control of an out of control situation. I just don’t know at this point, but there’s a lot that happened behind the scenes with that situation that we’ll never know and we don’t really need to know.

      • The answer to Kendall Rogers’ question as to why LH doesn’t say more in his own defense may be simply laid out:

First: the primary burden for the defense of Luke’s right to play rests, not on his shoulders, but on Ed Ray.

Second: the media has already proven that they are not inclined to treat him fairly. Indeed the opposite (Eggers excluded) is the case.

Third: why try this case in public when it has already been adjudicated officially by the state of Washington? To do so means talking about family dynamics and even further delaying the healing process which, it is worth pointing out, was SHREDDED by the press last spring.

          • It occurred to me that might be the case. Any restrictions on the ex-sister-in-law. Per reports, she has spoken with Moran, but can she make a public, official statement?

          • It’s extremely unlikely that LH is muting himself because of some facet of a judicial proceeding. Those conditions normally apply to civil proceedings wherein parties to a settlement agree not to publicly discuss terms.
Instead, in this case, LH is either getting advice from OSU or Casey or his parents or a (competent) attorney to simply keep his head down and play baseball and let the media chips fall where they may.

          • I think the confusing part for anyone who thinks beyond an impulse level is that he can say and do anything he wants within the context of the case itself when he’s speaking to the court. For those who haven’t made it there yet, he needs to be able to talk to the press as freely as he does to the court when discussing a minor. And they don’t understand why a judge in a minor court is any better than them, the bastions of free speech and saviors of America, when it comes to openly talking about this subject.

If any of them care, there’s a clock on it. They can go bother the girl when she turns 18. I’m sure Dolphin Boy has an interview set up for 2024, because he cares that much for victims of sexually violent felonious criminalatings.

And now, a word from his sponsors.

    • Funny thing about alot of these reporters is they’re trying to force Luke and Oregon State into doing something they don’t necessarily want or need to do.

Canzano started out last year with:

But I do know what Heimlich should do today.
      Recuse himself.
      Sit down.
Don’t throw a single postseason pitch tonight against Vanderbilt.

Then after Heimlich sits out the postseason it turned into:

      Implement new policy.
Perform routine background checks on all current and incoming athletes.
      Do better.

Ed Ray announces new policy and Canzano counters with:

It’s their front porch. They need to act like they own it.

I’m sure this will continue on indefinitely as long as people read Canzano’s columns.

Then you have guys like Rogers saying Heimlich needs to give an interview and :

he should explain the why and more. He needs to clear his name, and hiding behind it all is NOT the way to do that.

For all of these guys, it’s turned into pressuring Luke and the school into doing things they’re not comfortable with or ready to do. Like they get some sort of badge of honor for forcing action from OSU and Luke

    • Kendall Rogers says, “He needs to clear his name”

Seems to me the state of Washington has already done that, both by sealing his record and through the judge in the case who said,
“I want to tell you how proud I am of you for completing the program so fast, and it’s very impressive that you’re ready to go to college. … it sounds like things are going well for you, and we expect great things. … congratulations. You deserve a big round of applause.” In the courtroom Luke got one.

The last several paragraphs of Eggers article tell us a lot about the family dynamics involved here, it is time to let this go and allow healing to proceed; regardless of Rogers desire for more!

Link to Eggers piece, published nearly three weeks ago:

  20. “Ban the Oregonian”

I appreciate when you all post links to good articles. Helps fill in the narrative.

May I suggest having a box below the Twitter feed with links to trending stories. A links feed if you will.

    • So,” a former Louisville director of basketball operations acted unethically when he committed serious violations by arranging striptease dances and sex acts for prospects,…”

But, the schools position seems to be that he apparently did it on the cheap? “student-athletes … received negligible benefits as a result”

    • Everyone talks about the cord cutters and politics when they talk about the demise of Disney/ESPN but so many of their wounds are self inflicted. Just a poorly run company on so many levels.

        • I don’t get it.

Most other companies do this kind of thing, but Disney is one of the worst?

          Sure.

Start with any corporation or entity who has contracted with ALEC.
          https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/ALEC_Corporations

Go after the bad ones first, then maybe companies like Disney. Or go after them for having Weinstein on the payroll and probably knowing what he was all about. But picking on them for something most companies would do?

          • I have issues with them regarding ESPN, certain narratives, and the destruction of NCAA sports.

Not sure most companies would do this. Haven’t heard of any others doing it thus far.

          • Nike/Adidas/UA
            Fox
            CBS/Turner

And those are just sports. We can get into a whole discussion about sponsored research.

If you can’t handle ESPN selling the sports/conferences with whom they’ve contracted over other conferences, then you just don’t like the free market.

If you don’t like this recent myth of them taking part in some culture war, you’re trying way too hard to pay attention to that which you say you dislike. I can’t even tell you what they do or say other than when I turn on a game and watch it. That’s what they’re good at. Those are my expectations of them. The less games they show, the less I watch them. That’s how much I think/care about them.

          • We could probably have a decent discussion about how corporations distort the meaning of sports in individual schools or within regions, treating them like incubators and marketing tools.

KFCYum and Papa John’s sort of helped to distort reality at Louisville. We can probably name several more like “partnerships,” if we’re to call it by their terms.

  21. From the “You Cannot Make This Up” file:

In a stunning display of misplaced priorities, K. Rogers tweets:
“Please do not include me on this conversation. Thank you.”

This, in response to a twitter person who asked for background on the firing of Andy Cannizaro, the now former HC of MSU baseball. An ADULT who this week lost his job because of a personal sexual failure (though not likely breaking any law) involving another ADULT!

    • It looks like he wanted to be removed from a specific thread where somebody tagged he and the female who apparently had relations with the coach.
Dont think it was a sign of Rogers dodging the topic. Just not wanting to be tagged on tweets with the accused.

What is sexual failure? Meaning both parties weren’t satisfied? You can be fired for that?
      I wouldn’t know…..asking for a friend…

    • And this is from the same idiot who wants Heimlich to “come clean”? These guys shoot themselves in the foot over and over. Is this case that hard to understand? The legalities seemed to have been explained clearly from several parties. What the fuck do they want?

  22. This article is about Montana State, but applies to other land grant universities.

Hilleman’s college in Bozeman, Montana State University, turns 125 this month. It is one of the government-supported land-grant colleges established by the Morrill Act, which Abraham Lincoln signed into law in 1862 to educate the children of farm and factory workers, “the sons of toil.” A statue of Lincoln sculpted by the alumnus Jim Dolan is to be unveiled on campus on Friday for the anniversary.

The entire article is here: https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/02/15/opinion/sunday/university-montana-anniversary-tax.html?smid=fb-share&referer=http%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook.com n case anyone is interested.

  23. Way, way, way OT (but I had to share).

True story from my neighborhood. Last night a guy got the wheels stolen off his truck. He called the cops to report it. A few hours later the cops showed up, but not in response to the theft. Apparently they’d been contacted by the neighborhood HOA to inform him that having a visible vehicle without wheels was not allowed.

    Can’t make this up.

    • “Nutria are destructive, wasteful feeders that destroy up to 10 times the vegetation they consume,”

I like that people call another species destructive and wasteful

  24. OT but the Beavs have had the player of the week in conference for WBB (Gulich), MBB(Tinkle) and now Baseball(Larnach) all in the past 2 weeks.
    Go Beavs right?

BTW I love the phrase for Rueck above: “You can T me up, but you won’t shut me up” I think Rueck may win a national title withinthe next few years, he is a difference making coach and all beaver fans should be glad he is here.

    • Agree. What’s he had? 3-4 T’s and a Reprimand lately?
Nobody’s pushin’ the little guy around!

Quick Hitters from the WBB site:

      – Oregon State is 111-21 since the start of the 2014-15 season, the sixth-best record in the nation over that span, trailing only UConn, Notre Dame, Baylor, Maryland and South Carolina.
      – OSU has 73 Pac-12 wins over the last four seasons, joining Stanford as the only teams in conference history to accomplish that feat.

      http://osubeavers.com/news/2018/2/20/womens-basketball-beavers-head-to-desert-for-matchup-with-arizona.aspx?path=wbball

        • If beavs and Bruins finish tied for third and split season series, does anyone happen to know tiebreaker for seeding in Pac12 tourney? Is it ranking vs in the polls, rpi, or something else?

          • In the Pac it’s usually records against like opponents starting with the highest seeded, other than the tied teams. So they, being the 3/4 seeds, will be compared to the 1 seed first, 2 next, 5 after that, and so on. Since we have these staggered schedules with 12 teams, like opponents for teams that played both home and away series would only consider the weekend that correlates with the schedule for the team that only played a home or away series against the like opponent. So one team doesn’t get screwed because it went 1-1 in a series where both home teams won, and the other was simply 1-0 with only a home series.

          • Based on that explanation, the Beavs went 1-1 against the Ducks and UCLA went 0-2, therefore, TB would go to Beavs. UCLA playing at home vs. CO and UT while Beavs on the road AZ ASU so got to win out or it’s a moot point. I don’t think UCLA loses at home this weekend. ASU will be tough on the road and AZ could surprise if Beavs aren’t ready to play. Go Beavs

          • I heard somewhere – radio, tv? – that Beavs have the tie-breaker because of beating the quacks earlier in the year. Everything else must be even for that to hold true.

    • It is OSU’s good fortune that he is a graduate, a loyal alum, and apparently (I don’t read the #s) has a decent contract. I admire most that, although most of the people who surround him, (6’5″ women, for instance) have more height, he seems, genuinely, not bothered in the least and behaves accordingly.

  25. Fascinating thread on twitter that I got tagged in regarding Tim Euhas sticking up for Riley. Not sure how to link to all of them b/c twitter sucks like that.

  26. Anyone listening to the radio 1240AM, announcer says the umpire is squeezing Heimlich bad on his strike zone.

Biased umpire? Angry called this weeks ago…

  27. New thread up for the weekend series and general/off topic. I’ll be traveling/moving all weekend starting early tomorrow. Admis have permission to do what they wish in terms of threads, etc. See you dudes on the other side.
