This guy spewed populist rhetoric for a half hour. His words all fell flat. He talked about energy and gave a fake smile, but didn’t really seem to have said energy. He sounded nervous, rambled, and was reading off a script.
Zero fear of this guy as a Beaver.
Oregon hired him, reportedly, to get away from “flash” and style over substance, yet they opened the presser with a flashy video. Oregon is the only program in America that could hire Abe Lincoln, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson to their staff and still have zero substance. They just know no other way.
Edit: Link to press conference.
I think Taggart is a good hire. Hard to say what his ceiling is but he has turned around 2 programs fairly quickly. He’s not going to lead them to the bottom is what I figure.
He adjusted his style at USF. Initially came in using the Stanford way but had to change it to fit the players. I think he’ll do the same at Oregon. They won’t be Stanford or Oregon of the past, they’ll be something in the middle. The players and fans and marketing team will have to adjust to a culture change.
When GA came on, the marketing team tried what they thought would work and GA nixed it right away. Taggart will likely do the same.
Read somewhere(canzano?) that the budget theyre working with to hire support staff is more than double what OSU spends. Gotta think they’ll throw an offer to Telly.
Throwing money at the problem is their solution to everything.
The main reason I’m not too concerned with Taggart’s hiring, is if he finds immediate success, he’ll get hired away by the next highest bidder. He’s climbing the ladder quickly and Oregon isn’t the top rung on that ladder. If he isn’t successful, yay for us and the rest of the Pac.
He seemed awful during that press conference. Not sure how he’s had any success…maybe he’s pulling a B. Baldwin and recruiting the leftovers from the bigger programs then bullying people. That won’t work in the PAC. Could also explain why he doesn’t have D ever because it’s harder to find D leftovers.
If he has half a brain he’ll hire a DC that runs a 3-4 since that’s what the team has been recruiting for before Hoke came in.
I wonder if promoting Pellum to DC was Helfrich’s decision or the AD’s decision or some of both. That’s what cost the guy his job. Hoke was brought in to stop the bleeding and just made it worse.
Who gives a shit who they hired. #GoBeavs
Big talk there, but you’d care if they hired someone good.
Anyway, I gave my impressions of their coach — never mentioned caring who it was.
Did Oregon already fire all of Helfrich’s staff also? I mean, if Brady Hoke is still on the staff officially, then it seems a bit inappropriate for the UO president to say Taggart’s first job is to go out and hire a good Defensive Coordinator. Even if Hoke isn’t on the staff anymore, that still sounds like big public F-you to Hoke.
“inappropriate”?…………..not surprising given the way the canning of Helf was handled.
From my perspective, it’s hard to be too concerned about this hire. Compared to the rest of the coaches in this conference, I can’t say that he is a better coach than any of them. Had the Ducks actually hired a proven winner from a power 5 conference (e.g., James Franklin, Chipper, Wittingham) i’d have a different feeling. Maybe he’ll be good, maybe he won’t. It’s definitely not a slam dunk hire.
If you guys haven’t watched the press conference try to find it. So awkward.
I turned it on when you posted it. Who was the Nerdy looked dude with glasses and the shitty green tie? Their president? That guy was so awkward it was hard to watch.
It is very awkward. It’s extremely amateur level. And Taggart reading from a pre-written speech came across as insincere. He probably feels a bit overwhelmed right now, like he just got the keys to his Dad’s Porsche and he doesn’t even know how to start it.
You start it by pretending to start it.
Another interview with him. Canzano still talking about uniforms and video games. Taggart sounds so boring and just saying what people want to hear. Canzano is clueless thinking this guy has an infectious personality.
https://soundcloud.com/kxtg-the-bald-faced-truth/bft-interview-willie-taggart
Just updated the end of the main post. It now carries the link to his press conference for those who want to see for themselves. Let me know your thoughts after watching that. I thought he was bad, and I’m not necessarily a Duck hater (e.g. I thought Chip was great).
Thanks for the link.
It’s a mistake to underestimate a foe but this guy has a long way to go to show he is to be feared by our side.
One overall vibe I got from the presser was a contrast between Taggart and Andersen; Taggart seems more about “me” and “my” accomplishments while GA puts more emphasis on the team. I could be wrong, but that’s my first general reaction.
I got that impression as well. He refers to himself in the 3rd person a lot, too. Weird.
Similar to the vibes I got from Seth Collins (talked about me, talked about himself in the 3rd person…)
That was an amateur hour press conference. Taggart’s record suggests he can coach, but he’s not an innovator and other coaches have had success at South Florida. Ducks nation will be in a “delusional phase” for awhile just like Nebraska fans with thinking the teams ceiling is the playoffs when it’s probably 8 or 9 wins. If they can accept that, Taggart will be fine, if not he’s in for a tough ride.
He reminds me of Ty Willingham and I expect similar results.
Great day to be a Beaver with this guy captaining that ship.
This was South Florida’s first 10 win season, but they have had a lot of 8/9 win seasons and been to many minor bowl games since starting up D-1 football in 2000. The media makes it sound like he resurrected a dead program. He led a nice turnaround against a pretty weak schedule this season and he was in a recruiting hot bed with lots of players available.
Exactly how I see it. He also lost to the good teams he played (FL St and Temple).
This hire his hilarious. I view Oregon as “Those poor bastards II” because they’re all delusional and saying he has energy and enthusiasm. I see none of that. They’re acting like this guy is Mike Tomlin. He is more like Ty Willingham. People are suckers for smiling. Yeah, he smiled a lot…but so what? I think it’s backlash against Helf just like Riley seemed great to those poor bastards in Nebraska when compared to Bo. Yeah, this guy has more personality than Helf. That’s why they like it. But I see right through him and the personality is all fake. Used car salesman vibe with some politician type stuff (smiling, populist rhetoric about the DC hire, etc). I’d never play for a coach like that. It’s hard to imagine smart, tough players doing so.
I think that Jim Leavitt (sp?) did a much more impressive job at USF and if I remember correctly beat quite a few Top 25 teams (Auburn, West Virginia) during his tenure. He would probably still be there if he had not bitched whipped one of his players in public view! Isn’t he the D-Coordinator at Colorado now or am I thinking of someone else?
Angry is right……..he comes off as a huckster. “Enthusiasm unknown to mankind”? Really? Is he now going to blame the refs for his shortfalls like Harbaugh? I would be more scared if they would of picked up Harsin or Beau Baldwin.
Indeed, Beau Baldwin has won a championship, and unlike the quacks, he can beat Washington State. More potential upside.
Don’t worry, he wouldn’t have you playing for him in the 1st place. So you’re off the hook.
USF’s current roster is 99% Florida guys. Taggart didn’t have to work at recruiting at all. He’s in for a bit of a challenge now.
It’ll bear watching how he balances his stated emphasis on academics with the need to use the glitz of swooshville to attract players who are nationally rated and have more choices than those he has dealt with in the past.
Think it was fine, though I can’t believe the UO prez threw Hoke under the bus. The introduction was definitely not the sensation that reporters and Ducks fans made it out to be. However, given the last two UO coaches, I can imagine it being a breath of fresh air for them.
Taggart sounds like he will be a good motivator and recruiter, which are two of Oregon’s biggest needs. Guessing he is a decent coach scheme-wise. Will really depend on his coordinators for success on those fronts.
Overall, I think the rivalry between the Oregon schools will be really fun and intense over the next few seasons. Both Andersen and Taggart seem passionate and motivated, and able to instill that in their players.
Just watched the first minute. You’re right, i bet Hoke was in the back of the room with both middle fingers up. That was a pretty classless move by their president
You did catch the presidents name, right? How ironic, president “schill”, going through the motions at the direction of (as angry has anointed him) old shrivel dick.
I’d put President Ray up against this pansy any day!
He better bring his A-game, or I’ll kick his ass!
He looks like he got a lot of wedgies in high school.
Not seeing it reported anywhere, but i’ve heard from someone with knowledge of such things, that Hodgins is already signed. Early enrollee guy.
I think this just means that early financial aid agreement has been signed because i’m pretty sure non-juco gyys cant sign an NLI till Feb signing day.
Also, this coach tweeted something which helps confirm it
https://twitter.com/CoachTTMP/status/807025735642685440
Any kid can sign a grant-in-aid with as many schools as they want. Once that happens, they go from being a PSA to someone the school(s) can talk to freely and speak about openly without any more restrictions.
I wonder why more coaches don’t take advantage of them.
Well, Taggart apparently wants OSU commit David Morris, so we’ll see if he’s an effective recruiter:
http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2016/12/david_morris_beavers_prized_in.html#incart_river_index
Nah. Morris is in line to be a stud player at Oregon State. I expect once he becomes a starter he will be admired similarly to Nall. Home state grown and ready to be a fan favorite of Beaver Nation.
This is exactly what I’m thinking
I think this as well, but apparently he wants to hear Oregon’s pitch, which is never good.
Any recruiting guru know why USC seems to be losing commitments in droves? What’s going on down there?
LA International Airport now viewed as insufficient.
Plus, you know how LONG it takes to get from LAX to the Coliseum?!?
USC’s pushing out “lower” commits for upgrades.
WTF? NFL football via Twitter? How often has this type of broadcast occurred?
http://www.si.com/nfl
All season, select games. I think mostly Thursday games.
I saw that today also. What’s next? Watching the game through virtual reality goggles?
Yes. Here, put these on and you too can get punched in an elevator by Ray Rice
The real nfl experience, getting punched in the face by your favorite player.
What part of the body do you mean by “elevator”?
Per an article from the Portland shit rag, Ben Kone has been medically cleared to play.
Please just redshirt the kid and focus on keeping him healthy for next year
Re: the actual topic. The guy may have just traveled recently, been tired, etc. and they may explain the poor presser performance. I’m not defending him, just suggesting it might be a factor in his presentation. How he performs in front of the press has nothing to do how he coaches.
Overall, threat level is not unmanageable. If Knight actually threw out $10M and landed Kelly, Saban, Meyer, a few others, or even Wittingham (whom I think Andersen isn’t ready to beat) then I think OSU would have to be concerned.
OSU has the D and the players to defeat the Ducks. The tackling by OSU in the recent CW was SO refreshing after Banker. I’m not worried, particularly when OSU was down to 5th string LBs. OSU’s young D has learned a lot this year, and they’ll benefit from it. And if healthy, they’ll surprise a lot of pundits who look at OSU’s 2016 record but don’t get into the depth and context. This D is going to be fun to watch. And D doesn’t appear to be Taggart’s strength.
FTD.
Sound, fundamental football even if vanilla, is as exciting to watch as flash in the pan. Though their record doesnt reflect it, this team demonstrated grit. You could see in how they responded to changes in each game, the qualities that we sometimes accused Coach Andersen of repeating too often last season in post game press conferences.
USF had eight football players arrested under Taggert 2013-2015. Will fit right in at Oregon.
http://arrestnation.com/teamsschools/university-of-south-florida/
#thuglife #keepin’itrealz #playingwithyourwillieout
That site is misleading. It counts tickets and citations. A speeding ticket will get you on that list.
Speeders are murderers.
I hope Andersen runs and maintains a clean program. I’d really like to see OSU win 10 games before a bowl, have a clean program, and not need to hide any player’s activities. And graduate them!
Those poor basterds(Nebraska) hired a new defensive back coach, Donte Williams.Hopefully Banker will teach him the hand jive! From what I saw on Twitter he has really bought in to what Riley is selling. Said it was a lifetime commitment, does he not know Riley will be gone sooner rather than later. He might be a good coach, if so he can just use Riley and Banker as stepping stones
The handjive playbook takes at least two full years to master. Hope he can stick it out
Two years to master the handjive playbook pales in comparison to how long it will take to begin to teach avoiding PI calls by actually looking for the ball!
Does anybody have a gif or a good link to a video of the banker jive? I could use a good laugh
Always wanted to build that. Show Luke Falk, a FRESHMAN, walking up to the line, Banker’s D isn’t prepared, Falk goes hurry up, throws a 40 yard-or-something TD pass…Banker was frantic. Got schooled by a freshman. Pathetic.

I’ll just leave this here………
http://i.imgur.com/2bgX3CW.png
So complex entire recruiting classes apparently couldn’t master it…
Every once in a while it worked great against a pro style offense, particularly if they put the ball on the ground.
He comes from Arizona right?
Yes, it’s so hard to keep up with the coaching carousel every Nov/Dec
I didn’t think their DBs were very good. Interesting…..maybe he was the only guy who didn’t burst out laughing when Riley called.
He’s mostly there for recruiting I think.
well, first it must be noted that I fell asleep before the Taggert press conference ended and woke up with a start when he yelled “have a nice day if you want to,” which is kinduva weird sentiment in itself. From when I when I was awake it struck me that he’s a personable guy, would relate well to players, but I had no sense of what kind of personality he team would take on; unlike Chip, for example, or Gary Andersen for that matter, who you could tell from the get go would bring a seriousness of purpose to the task. I had the feeling his prepared remarks were scripted by someone in the UO athletic department. The giveaway was the reference to the UO “brand.” I don’t think most coaches think about brand; that’s Nike-speak all the way. I also noted the two digs at Hoke, which is all the more strange because Taggert wanted to talk to the “existing staff.” Exactly who has been held over, and who hasn’t. He has more personality that “paint dry Ty” and Helfrich for that matter, and Canzano put his finger on a lot of what bothered the folks in Eugene, after Rich Brooks, Bellotti and especially Chip, Helfrich looked like uptight or a sour-puss; not much of a personality to engage with. Taggert will be popular with the sports press and general media in Oregon; probably more so than Anderson quite honestly, but bottom line: unless he’s a fabulous recruiter I don’t see him as the existential threat that Chip was.
by the way, isn’t it curious that the only coach Riley left behind in Corvallis is also the only one to have the prospect of becoming a head coach?
Valid point. It should be noted, however, that some of TPB’s are expecting Langsdork to take over as HC when Riley heads south permanently.
Did we forget about Sitake literally just last year?
You misread the post, but you bring up a good point. This is the second assistant hired away from GA to be a head coach in as many years.
And we only get better in the meantime.
The only one GA kept. Seumalo got to pack his bags. Did Brennan do the leaving?
Banker has had “prospects.” U Hawaii for example….
They also turned him down. He wanted that job badly.
I remember how much we wanted him to get that job.
It’s great! I think GA wants all his assistants to know how to run a program, so they all understand each other and what their part is in it. I think losing coaches to head coach jobs might be something we’re going to have to deal with if he does stick around long term.
I almost think Brennan suspected he might get this job some day and wanted to stay on the west coast to maximize his chances. Just a guess.
Is trajon cotton a strong possibility? Ive seen a lot of talk about him on the Twitter feed.
A few months ago, I would have figured he was nebraska all the way, but now it’s seeming like a possibility.
Go tweet that #TrajonToCorvallis hashtag if youre on twitter. Hodgins started it, and sounds like he’s trying to encourage his 7on7 teammate, Cotton, to come to Corvallis.
Cotton also has a DE teammate who we’ve been recruiting, Victor Jones. Would be a nice get if we could land those Inderkum high guys.
Thx man for always answering questions and keeping the Twitter up. Im not on Twitter maybe its time to get with the times lol. I bet that would help encourage him if that really got going big.
All you guys who got the spam block should be through now. Sorry about that.
Forget to check the filter daily.
I think what I find most comical is they’re going to have to pay Helf and Hoke 12 million to go away (not sure what Hoke’s buyout is but he does have one). Plus 1.7 to USF for Taggart’s buyout. So in reality they are going to pay over 13 million for Willie Taggart to be their head coach?????
No P5 coach worth two shits wanted the job.
That’s really gotta hurt to find out that their cute little glitz and glamour program isn’t as “elite” as they think it is. Chew on that duckers.
I can hear you guys whistling past the graveyard from a mile away.
And that’s another thing. Who the hell puts a graveyard on a college campus?
Always been very creepy and it even comes complete with scary bums! Though so does the rest of Eugene…
Get real.
If you believe those bums are scary, I have some swamp in Washington DG I’d like to sell you.
Who actually pays that and how? Where does the money come from?
That’s pretty obscene. Yet you won’t see the Oregonian calling that out….they’re too in love with UO and trying to spin this as a good hire.
Canzano: Taggert won the first news conference. “I didn’t want it to stop. Bet you didn’t either.”
Wow.
http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/john_canzano/index.ssf/2016/12/canzano_oregon_ducks_coach_wil.html#incart_river_index
and even more funny is duck fan thinks they have a chance to get Todd Orlando as DC???
ROFLOLOLOLOL
Haha yeah the best they could do last year was Brady Hoke, and that was one year after a NC game. Has Justin Wilcox come up yet?
how’d that beer taste?
Someone needs to start this twitter account back up. Or start a new one
https://twitter.com/oregontears
OT: Check out the name of one of the VB recruits LOL. Did a double take.
Oregon State Signs Four For 2017
The Beavers welcome Lindsay Schell, Grace Massey, Maddie Goings and Kylee McLaughlin to Beaver Nation
Taggart’s trying to hire charlie strong as his DC
Racist.
False start… you’re disqualified.
I would bet he takes the year off. Doubt he takes a step back after being HC at two programs. Cincy job is still open.
Will be fun to see how many times they try to swing for the fences at each coaching position, before settling on a blooper single.
Still worried about Lockette though. Hope part of this recruiting road trio GA and Telly are on involves salary re-negotiation
Strong is going to go to USF to replace Taggart. He could do really well there.
It’s clear now that Strong is just meant to be a non power 5 head coach.
Wait… he was serious about Strong being offered the DC job at Nikegon?
Nope. The Texas thing is really f ‘d up. Like Rich Rod at Michigan, just a poor fit. He cleaned house and set the foundation. New guy will get to put up the pretty house.
Major Applewhite hired at Houston. Interim HC Todd Orlando will be DC though the bowl game.
Major Major to Cincinnati, Colonel Corn to Indiana.
How do you go from Joseph Heller to Freddie Fisher?
Colonel Mustard in the library.
Colonel Sanders to Kentucky
I didn’t know Orlando threw his name into the mix at Houston. Sounds like he wants a head coaching job, wonder if he stays or goes elsewhere.
I thought he was headed to Austin.
Is that the rumor…….that would make the most sense.
Does Dawn go with him, oh, wait that’s Tony….
David Morris looks solid:
https://twitter.com/David_Morris24/status/807035380239245313
I am amused by the twitversation over there:
…ucks have no “D”
…dux have a little “d”
…ducks pronounced with a soft “d”.
Will be funny to see oregon get used once again as charlie strong takes a better deal to hc at USF.
Anybody want to take bets on who Oregon strikes out on next?
Duck Delusion is in full swing today. Now Taggert is going to Hawaii to try to flip the #1 QB in the country and Alabama recruit. Naturally, Duck fans are already convinced he’s theirs and are talking about him breaking every record in football history
It will be interesting to see how this ducks recruiting class turns out. Ol’ Willie is trying make a big splash right off the bat, but he may end up empty-handed by spending all his time going after unrealistic recruits. Then again, if he’s able pull them in then all this talk about his recruiting skills may not be hot air. We’ll see.
I’d be afraid…….didn’t you hear, chips coming back anyday now……
The QB, Tagovailoa, was already planning to visit them prior to Helf’s firing. He’s the Hawaiian kid that they were dubbing Mariota 2.0 a couple years back.
Did Andersen ever recruit him? May not have bee fruitful if the kids wants to follow Mariota’s footsteps, but if he’s smart, has an arm, and is mobile….
We were one of his first offers back in summer 2015.
Who do y’all think is gonna start at Qb next year? My gut says McMaryion.
I’d say it’s McM’s job to lose. It’ll be interesting to see how Luton’s JC experience translates to P5.
We had an entire thread dedicated to this not long ago.
Probably all of them at some point. The QBs have a track record of not staying healthy.
McGiven played how many qb’a in 2014, four?
http://highschoolsports.oregonlive.com/news/article/-5357817445412191885/fans-interacting-with-football-recruits-on-twitter-is-fun-annoying-sometimes-creepy-and-an-ncaa-violation/
They should talk about Mamma Machado pilfering off of them. It’s more creepy than anything.
I’m a donor and the athletic department in the past, has given a list of things not to do. Can’t recall if they did this year.
It’s true that it gets out of hand sometimes, but media outlets like the oregonian need to look at themselves in the mirror. They often post tweets directly from recruit’s accounts, and they even have posted tweets saying “hey Oregon/Oregon State fanbase…..JoeBlow recruit wants more followers, go give him/her your support”
Rivals and Scout accounts have done the same. I guess that’s ok when you’re the media?
NCAA doesn’t have any way to monitor this stuff. If they did sanction teams for fans tweeting at recruits, I could imagine every Oregon State fan would suddenly become a faux Oregon fan and tweet away, and vice verse. Good luck policing that.
Not sure why you’re linking a three-year old article about a rule that was impossible to enforce and, therefore, is not a rule anymore… making your intended argument obsolete.
The way I see it is regular fans like us that isn’t attached to the school by ways of high $ donor/booster that can be confirmed by the University or publicly known to be such, then there is no violation. Am I reading that incorrectly? If so, then #TrajonToCorvallis should go away, but it won’t because its fun.
It was never enforced because it’s impossible to enforce. There were never any specific NCAA rules regarding social media, so it was never even technically a violation. And they opened up social media to unlimited contact for all because of the former, so it’s specifically allowed and has been for a while now.
Thanks for playing.
I doubt much has changed since the article was published, but note that it is nearly three years old.
Much has changed. The NCAA finally addressed social media contact, and their solution was to allow it–coaches, boosters, fans and all.
It was never really a violation because the NCAA had never really addressed social media before. They had rules for phone calls, in-person contact and emails, but not much else. This is why Tosh Lupoi playing on his XBox was never a violation.
We have moderators now?
Fucking brutal.
testing
The final figures are in
Helf buyout – 11.6 million
Hoke buyout – 1.8 million
Taggart USF buyout – 1.7 million
Taggart may do well there. Time will tell. But over 15 million to get a non P5 head coach to come to your school? Pathetic. I’m sure PK (ol shrivel dick as angry calls him) can dig that out from between the leather couch cushions of his private jet though.
He who writes the checks calls the shots. Good luck Willie. Don’t go 4-8 next year if you want to keep your job
Not a big fan of Jon Wilner, but his comments regarding Brennan are somewhat related to what we’ve discussed here; the value of seeing asst. coaches move up and the possibility of Baldwin following Brennan south.
http://www.mercurynews.com/2016/12/08/san-jose-state-hires-brent-brennan-the-spartans-got-it-right/
Heh, heh, Wilner also refers to MR in his piece, “Mike Riley, who knows a thing or two about squeezing water from stone.”
Watery diarrhea maybe.
Damn, the “Riley-force” (ie. false narrative) is a strong one. It stretches from coast to coast covering even obscure corners of the national media.
I also like how there is no mention of GA in the article as a possible influence on Brennan.
Wilner is a true Riley apologist. He is in the same camp with Schnell, Jaynes, and others that said we’d regret losing him and no hope with him gone.
Swaggart interview- I would expect someone who has reached this point in his career to be a lot more polished speaker. He must be a better coach than speaker. He looked nervous and awkward in gesture and choice of words. Could he be a good fit at UO where flash over substance is the norm? He pitched himself as a student of Harbough. People like Goh like him. cant really put my finger on this introduction. Not ready for prime time? Out of his element? Show and no go? Disappointing. Expect more from Nike. ?????
Is this thread seized up or are you guys just boring?
Wow.
Total moderation and fucked-uppedness.
Such a wasted day.
Wtf man?
In all fairness, I battled on another website with a well known champion of “conservative” ideals for about four hours before I came back here and just wanted to decompress with dumb ideas about sports and maybe sports.
It turns out I’m the conservative, and the one previously believed to be enlightened is not so much so.
Never forget that words have meaning.
And never ever forget that you can always express your words and feelings in this country… always.
But never think that the freedom to do so comes with a freedom from anyone else responding with their own take.
That would be playing checkers in a chess world… for lack of a better metaphor.

Sure, you can.
Gaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!
Don’t talk with your mouth…..or whatever full.
Mmmm… snapper!
tOSU Co- DC Luke Fickell to Cincy as HC. That has been a great stepping stone job.
Go Navy…..beat Army.
Army’s unis are possibly the worst I’ve ever seen. Navy’s unis aren’t good, but I don’t think anyone will ever notice with those things across the LOS.
WTF?
The flags on their right shoulders are backward. The company who designed these unis have no respect for Army or our flag.
The way they’re playing (or how really poorly Navy is playing), maybe they should be made to deliberately break the flag statute more often.
Wow!
I’ve never heard the A-N game sound like an angry mob before.
That’s new.
Trump is there.
Yeah, but I would expect that crowd to at least respect the POTUS-elect’s position, not give him his due respect as a pretend man.
For those of you so dense that you don’t understand the actual words being used, I’ll spell it out so you can defy definitions and reality in general.
The Donald is a Jersey Shore caricature of a human who got everything from his rich daddy… everything. A trust fund baby who has an Ivy League education because daddy bought it… and everyone in his admin is the worst criminal who can be judged on a scale of good to bad… except for Mattis…who isn’t technically eligible.
That fucking buffoon of a man is a moron giving the keys of the kingdom to the thieves. He is viable proof of devolution.
And you know it.
This is where I support my argument with many paragraphs of evidence in order to prove my hypothesis. But I don’t need to do that with the Donald. It is widely known that he is a moron who constantly lies.
Is it Kremlin West or is it Washington, District of Goldman?

Well… he deserves less than that… but CINC deserves something.
What that is is yet to be determined.
Arex and gardner have been uprgaded to 3 stars on 247 and also rivals for arex.
Will that male their play for us better?
Also one thing to watch now with taggart is competing for Florida talent with the ducks which i thought was one of the our new staffs advantage over helfrich.
FWIW – Brent Brennan SJS Presser
http://www.sjsuspartans.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/120816aac.html
A very amateurish job of editing the video (nothing happens for the first 15 minutes or so). Brennan begins talking at about the 23 minute mark
At the end of the conference the AD refers to SJS as the Broncos instead of the Spartans. LOLOLOL
Like I said, FWIW
Oh, that’s why……..
Bleymaier came to San José State with an impressive array of personal and professional accomplishments from 30 years as Boise State University’s athletics director.
http://www.sjsuspartans.com/genrel/gene_bleymaier_846911.html
Well there goes that streak.
All kinds of streaks broken this year. Thank goodness.
Good for army…..the least worst team won. I think this means that Air force wins the Academy Cup right?
Army’s winning drive was good football. They just wanted it more.
And you have to let them win once every 15 years or so.
I remember someone talking about Alex Forsyth decommiting. Yesterday I saw him decked out in hole gear so at this point I doubt a flip.
That was me, I heard a third hand rumor and floated it here to see if someone else had heard it. He reaffirmed his commitment after helf was canned to Nemic anyway.
You can’t just go doing that kind of stuff. That’s like our POTUS floating a reality where Russia isn’t the greatest existential and realistic threat to our democracy.
Wouldn’t that just be the dumbest thing you could even imagine?
Who?
Is he an O-line dude?
#Bigwhoop
Is that close enough to “we didn’t want him anyway”?
Trib story:
Andersen, Beavers hot on the trail for recruits
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/335917-215901-andersen-beavers-hot-on-the-trail-for-recruits
With his focus on recruiting, Andersen says he will “take my time” hiring a replacement for Brennan, who had Los Angeles as his principal recruiting area.
“I have a bunch of names on my list,” Andersen said. “I’m going to go through it the right way. I’d like to get it done in time for that coach to be in place Jan. 5 or 6 at the latest. It could be done much sooner, or right up to that day.”
=========
Oregon State has 20 verbal commitments and will still take as many as seven or eight more. Andersen can’t comment on players, but he is willing to offer observations on how the Beavers have advanced to having a potential top-25 recruiting class as he looks toward his third season in Corvallis.
==========
Andersen doesn’t know Oregon’s new coach, Willie Taggart, very well. Andersen and Taggart have faced each other once as head coaches — in 2014, when Andersen was at Wisconsin and Taggart was at South Florida. The Badgers prevailed 27-10 at Camp Randall Stadium. Andersen’s running backs coach, Telly Lockette, coached three seasons at South Florida, the last two handling the running backs for Taggart.
“Telly likes him, says he’s a good guy,” Andersen says. “Now he’s our rival. It will be interesting.”
GA can comment on one kid. And he should do so modestly.
Andersen said because OSU lost three starters on the offensive line, that’s been a priority for immediate help from the JC ranks. OSU coaches also have looked for receivers and help in the secondary.
“We’re in big-boy fights with the SEC and Big Ten as well as other Pac-12 schools,” Andersen said. “That’s the way it should be. We’re going after the cream of the crop.”
What I’ve been saying for years, that recruiting is just a mindset where if you want to do it you get results. Riley just didn’t want to do it. Had nothing to do with Corvallis or airports. Dumb Lindsey et al took his bait.
I think “big-boy” is the “neat deal” of Gary Anderson.
Eggers knocks it out of the park with this one. Nice list of JC names there. I hadnt heard anything about Short for quite awhile. So that name is a little surprising.
I’m pretty sure Sattelmier can’t sign early, but hopefully that has changed. The more early enrollees we can get helps in two ways. Can move some to the 2016 class and make more room for 2017, plus, once theyre committed, you can pull focus from the early guys and concentrate on closing out the rest of your 2017 class that signs in feb.
I read an article on Sattelmeier recently where he said that after meeting with coaches he would enroll spring term. I do not know what that does to which class he will be designated under.
Hes 2017.
4-2-4 guy
I take it this means Nixon is out of the picture?
Good question.
With information this specific, you have to think Eggers is getting his info directly from the source. So the names being given by Eggers.
So either this is the actual list of names still in the running that the staff hopes/expects to land, or this is the list the staff wants the public to hear about, and maybe there are some names not included for a reason. Stratejerie?
Or, maybe Eggers just doesn’t have every name. Hard to tell at this point. I dont think Nixon has made up his mind yet, but we’ll find out between now and the 17th where he’s going.
They are “resigned” about Nixon.
His final two are Tennessee and South Carolina per a link in the twitter feed at the top of the page
In this article I reposted below, but based on new coach hire timeline, Jonathan smith for OC!
Strike 1 for Big Willie. Strong to SFU.
*USF
I’ll put up a new thread soon.
Topic suggestions welcome, or I’ll just do general.
General or mid year signing day which is coming up this week.
This has a good chance of being a top 25 recruiting class when all is said and done.
What’s wrong with the men’s basketball team? Can it be fixed? Talent is one thing but you can always coach effort which doesn’t appear to be present with this team.
Any rumors about the AD?
Had my first in person experiences last evening with UCLA fans. Are they all arrogant dicks or was this a special crew?
a sub-textual item in Canzano’s column on Thursday hasn’t gotten enough play on this site; namely, how OSU wants to shed the “Giant Killers” identity once and for all, wherein it’s a surprise when OSU does well. Ed Ray wants the new AD to lead the charge on a new OSU identity: we expect to be good; no excuses.
I like the sound of that.
Need a new Beaver logo for that…the Nutria isn’t getting it done!
Mammoths. Beaver riding on a mammoth. Think of the movie Ice Age.
Idiot announcer on Fox says Seumalo a graduate of “Oregon.”
We get no respect. When Beavs won their second national title in baseball, an Augusta GA newspaper wrote the “Ducks defend their title” in the headliner on the front page of the sports section, even though in the body of the article it mentioned “Beavers” by name. Obvious mixup to us, but out East they think anything “Oregon ” is the Ducks.
Matt Moore getting a shot in Miami and delivers a win.
Injury to starter, or were they just making a change?
Injury
Starter suffered a knee injury, Moore came in and did what it took to get the w. It wasn’t pretty but style points don’t show up in the win/loss total.Miami is lurking in the playoff picture. It would be nice to see them make the playoffs with Moore playing. I’ve always rooted for Miami and they are long overdue for a big boy playoff run. I miss the Marino years.
Getting my first eyeball test of the mens hoops team and I’m afraid all of you are right. Total hot fucking garbage. It’s like they’ve completely forgotten how to play defense and Eubanks is fucking softer than downy fresh clean laundry. They look Sloooooooooow. Losing to Savannah St at home? A team the ducks blew out by almost 70 in Eugene 8 days ago. It’s challenging to wrap my head around how this team is so awful. I understand there are injuries but If they play like this, 0-18 in conference play is just a formality
Stinky hot trash beavs :-3
It’s absurd how bad this team is.. I know we have all been praising WT, but I will say that GP-2 was a Robinson recruit. Maybe Tinkle developed him into a player that CR never would have, but it looks like GP-2 was all that was holding this team together. WT is accountable for the huge JC misses, neither look anywhere near being Power 5 players. Oregon St. is one of two P-5 teams with a losing record (the other was Iowa, last I heard). I’m not confident they will be competitive when Tres is back, but that’s all I can point towards.
>Eubanks is fucking softer than downy fresh clean laundry.
23 pts, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. He’s not the problem.
Lets watch those numbers dwindle against Pac-12 competition. Again.
Against a shit team like that that shoots mostly 3 point jumpers? He should have had 40 pts and 25 boards.
SOOOOOOOFFFFFFT
Russel Wilson in the Christmas spirit early, 5 INTs with a few minutes left?!? Wow.
Oakland/KC/NE v. Dallas in the SB?
This Packer owner approves.
Looks like we’re headed to overtime against Savannah State. Yikes.
Lost! Where’s GP3 when you need him? This is some putrid basketball!
This team sucks.
I thought the Gopher team was bad last year. This team is way worse. Beavs suck. No effort on D and nice O……pass around the edge and jack up a three. They do excel at dribbing and passing into double teams, so something to build on.
LO mutha F’ing L. Maybe this basketball team can beat Corvallis high school but maybe not? OMG LMFAO
Houston Beavis 2: Electric Boogaloo
Nice sarcasm here:
http://www.buildingthedam.com/2016/12/11/13880118/beavers-lose-in-ot-to-perennial-basketball-powerhouse-savannah-state
“Beavers lose in OT to Perennial Basketball Powerhouse Savannah State
Oregon State lost a heart-breaker to the ever-fearsome and mighty Savannah State Tigers in overtime, 93-90.”
“Poor man’s Duke”
The Beavs Bball team is a huge steamy Duke.
Went to the game today…The Beavs weren’t nearly as bad as that ancient blown speaker in the rafters they call a sound system. If anyone in the athletic department actually reads this blog, put that at the top of the list fpr most painful ear-splitting gameday experiences.
The team is struggling but that 1960s era sound equipment is just as embarassing.
Note to GA and staff:
Do not bring any recruits into Gill until the sound is upgraded.(or at,least stop trying to play guitar solo music at airplane level, decibels.) No wonder the older donors are no-shows as much as they are.
Hope GA can close strong and also flip some 4stars to OSU.
Exactly right. Can’t hear or understand the intro video, then everything else is loud screechy and overblown. The only audio I like and appreciate in Gill is our pep band, they’re great. Also, we got it half right by moving the TV cameras facing the student section, now we need to move the benches to the other side so we can see the coaches and bench activity on TV.
Based on this article at the end talking about the new coach, hire no later than Jan. 5th or 6th. By this timeline tells me he’s after a coach on a playoffs team. My guess is Jonathan smith to OC.
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/335917-215901-andersen-beavers-hot-on-the-trail-for-recruits
Forgot the link
For receiver’s coach?
That’s a big step backwards for him
No, for OC. the reason is that it’s his alma Mater at OSU and he’s bound to be a head coach someday. So why not?!
Why would Smith make a lateral move from UW?
It wouldn’t be lateral and it would PAY less than what he’s making now. Troll job that falls flat on it’s face
How do you know it would pay less? We can and have paid coordinators more than Smith is currently making at UW. Not to say we’d want to offer him more than he currently makes (I’m not sold on him), or that UW would or would not try to match such an offer, but to make an assumption that his pay at OSU would be less is…wrong.
The new deal Smith signed is for one year with a base salary of $440,000, the same salary he earned in 2015.
http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/uw-husky-football/contract-extensions-announced-for-huskies-assistant-coaches/
Brennan was making 180K. OSU isn’t going to pay more than 440K for a fucking receivers coach. Use your head.
the fact that you got that out of an article that has zero mention of a replacement for Brennan only shows how clueless and delusional you are.
Kevin Clune wasn’t named D coordinator last year until January 6th despite USU playing their bowl game BEFORE Christmas.
Anderson is looking for a receiver coach. Not an OC. Good try though
Man Craig Robinson has got to go
Based on past hirings, my guess is Jovon Bouknight from Utah St will be the new WR coach.
Of course it will be someone from Utah State.
My guess is Donny Osmond.
If he’s going to coach at Oregon State, he’d better bring his Big Boy Teeth.
At least Baldwin won’t have to worry about ONE coach raiding his Diet Coke supply….
He’s lucky he doesn’t drink Mountain Dew.
Get your Utah geography straight. The Osmonds are Provo/Orem people…ie BYU
Does anyone have any insight into when the hoops team will start giving a shit?
¯\_(?)_/¯
Emoji fail… I guess this site doesn’t give a shit about UTF-8 either
Excellent question.
Attended last night’s b-ball game vs Savannah State. I spent a lot of my time watching Ben Kone, both when he was on the court (about 10 minutes of PT) and off the court (on the bench, or on a warmup bike about 10 feet from where I was sitting).
On the court, Kone looked like what he probably is: a physically gifted athlete coming back from a serious knee injury. Unsurprisingly, Kone didn’t show much vertical leaping ability in his first game back from ACL surgery (and his first college game). He made some attempts initially to box out people underneath, but didn’t stick with it, or show a lot of ferocity in general on the boards or on defense (where he was often out of position). He also had problems staying in front of his man on defense (but here again I’m assuming his lateral motion was impeded by his recovering knee, and/or the heavy brace on that knee, as well as his lack of experience defending players at this level).
Hard to assess Kone’s skill level based on last night’s game. He didn’t panic when inbounding or handling the ball against the Savannah State press. I don’t recall him taking any jump shots, but he made both of his foul shots and looked okay doing so. On offense, he properly focused on moving in and out of the key area (rather than hanging out on the perimeter), setting (mostly ineffective) picks, and trying to get inside post position (again, not very effectively). He didn’t impact the game much (positively or negatively) last night, and didn’t get much opportunity to show off his skills. Hoping to see more next time out.
Meanwhile, there may be some minor basis for concern about Kone’s attitude. While on the court, I saw Kone deliver a couple of unnecessary pushes and elbows away from the action — what could be characterized as punkish behavior. While he was on the bench, Kone didn’t seem super engaged in the game, often looking down or away from the action. And while he was on the exercise bike (during the last part of the game, including OT), I saw him muttering to himself and shaking his head more than a few times. Maybe none of this means much, but it appeared to me that Kone may not have a very positive attitude at the moment. That being said, of course, there was not a lot for anyone on the Beaver side to be positive about at Gill last night…..
I have a gut feeling jaylon lane is going to decommit.
Almost 100% positive he’s gonna go to Texas Tech
Yup..
Why do you think that?
All if his recent tweets have been “gotta do whats right for me and my family” or Dont judge me types of messages. Why would he bother saying that after already verbal committing to Oregon State a couple if weeks back?
Plus he’s from Texas, so Ttech is much closer to home/family.
I’d be surprised if he sticks to his OSU verbal pledge
Could it be because he wants to go here instead of a texas school and is getting shit for it? Just a thought.
Prob a combination of pressure from family and friends. I gotta remember these are still kids. Lol. Easily swayed by attention.
Congrats to Xavier Crawford, USA Today Freshmen All-American!
Hope this helps with CB recruiting.
Can’t wait to watch this D the next two years.
Issah Miller flips to mizzou. I don’t remember seeing any film on him. Is this a big loss?
Considering we have Nall, Art Pierce, and the stud RB (Tj Green) committed from AZ, I think this isn’t a huge loss. We also have Paul Lucas as a change up if we need.
I just watched his senior highlights. I’d watched his junior highlights when he committed and I don’t remember being particularly impressed. His senior tape is okay, I’m sure he’s pretty good, but his speed is nothing special, he’s not incredibly elusive. I think he’s solid.
I watched TJ Green’s tape again, he’s absolutely electric by comparison. Also I rewatched Artavis Pierce’s tape again, it’s criminal that kid didn’t have more offers, really dynamic playmaker, way more elusive than Miller, way faster too.
I get the feeling Miller was told to shop around, I think that’s probably a decent problem to have.
Green’s tape looks great, but part of me thinks it’s just because of his raw athletic ability. He reminds me of a slightly more powerful Paul Lucas, who also looked electric in HS film.
