Thread going up a day early and can act as a general thread as well.

Seems like a lot of fans have bailed on this team (understandable, it’s painful baseball), but it’s still possible they get into the post-season despite how bad they are, and anything can happen then.

Game times are 7, 1, and 12.

  1. OT but Carlos Johnson just committed to UW over the Beavs. Tinkle struggling to close with coveted players not related to the coaching staff…Year of The Beaver continues to fade to just another year

    • I didn’t know Jaquori McLaughlin and Ben Kone were sons of Tinkle/the assistant coaches.

I mean, it’s a bummer Johnson didn’t commit, but let’s be real here.

      • I’m afraid you need to get real. Kone was not coveted he’s a consensus 3-star with a major knee injury and McLoughlin wanted to come to OSU since he was 14 he just needed to be reassured that Tinkle wasn’t a complete joke. Seriously read about the kid, him and his family are die-hard beaver fans

        • You said Tinkle couldn’t close with players that weren’t related to the coaching staff. Jaquori McLaughlin wasn’t a relative of any coaching staff members. Merely being a fan of the university doesn’t make you a family member of the coaching staff. But go ahead and keep moving the goalposts if you need something to complain about.

          • Ok well if you’d like to be pedantic you go right ahead and pat yourself on the back. In the exact literal sense, yes obviously he can recruit players not related to coaches. The point I was making (the one you know I was making) is that with guys like Boucher, Rawson and Johnson were attainable guys but he lost out to conference foes every time. If you want to pretend like he out-recruited everyone for mcglaughlin then go for it. But it’s well documented that the kid was ready to lace up the orange and black shoes from a very early age. Is my time a bit pessimistic? Sure, but this is an angry beaver fan blog after all

          • Ok well if you’d like to be pedantic you go right ahead and pat yourself on the back. In the exact literal sense….

            um… PURPLE!!!!!!

          • What?

That just makes too much darn sense.

Please come to the west coast to play a better brand of ball and to get paid… by someone… since everyoe does it.

I am an Oregon State alum if any of you are interested. And it really disturbs me that you are not interested.

Because I believe you are stupid.

I believe you have no voice in your life.

I believe you don’t even care about your family.

You have shown none of these things for 30 years. Forgive me for thinking you did not evolve… as you never did before.

You suck. You lead from behind. Your ideas are not your ideas.

            That was obvious.

I don’t know where to go from here. There is no here.

        • You are very incorrect about young Mr. Kone’s now and future. I don’t know what to tell you about the kid that would makeyou believe me. He was sold early on Tinks, and I ammore than happy all that shit happened.

          He is not a wun’n’dunner.

          Yay?

He will be good enough by the end of his junior year to be pushing early second round talk. And that would be before the dance, which, admittedly, would raise or lower that stock.

The current injury does not diminish that future under Rupp and Tinks. Kone is strong strong strong. And they know it. So often in the Monty years at SU, I wondered how the hell he got the bigs I would school in HS to get tough. I found out through the years it was because Monty saw incomers as transitional people, not just players.

I like that attitude. And Kone will be as celebrated as AC if he stays for four. Hell, he has the ethic and ability to be more celebrated if he only stays three. I don’t think you know how special young Mr. Ben Kone will for this program… if he’s ambidextrous down low… hint… hint… hint.

          • Oh for sure I like Kone a lot too assuming he heals properly and stays healthy. He’s exactly the brute this team needs in the post and on the boards. I was just saying that he wasn’t very highly recruited. I believe he chose us over San Jose St?

  2. OT: I finally got around to watching the spring football game. That Garretson fade toss to Villamin’s outside shoulder is going to be huge in the fall. Just having that makes their O twice a good.

  3. “Over? Did you say Over? Nothing is over until we say it’s over! Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?” “Who’s with me?…..Go Beavs” Never give up!! JB

  4. I don’t know if it’s that anyone here has given up n the team so much as the team has given up on itself. They’re better offensively than most teams they will face. Yes we’re down on pitching, but that doesn’t mean that’s the end all. Give at least 90% of your ability, and you will more than likely start winning again.

They’re not watering the bamboo, and it shows.

    • Right (again) Jack. The talent is there, it’s all 90% mental….or something.
But, for a fan, what does it mean to “give up” on this team? I didn’t ever expect them to host this season, does that constitute giving up early? OTOH, I still look forward to each game, so don’t feel I’ve given up.

Watching Ice, especially on D; hoping KJ continues moving out of his slump; expecting Kwan/CJ/Morrison to get on base more, all of these cause me to remain interested in the upcoming games. The potential of Larnach and Gretler. And that is without considering the chances of a successful two out bunt or the possibility that Big John Pomeroy will have a lights-out performance! It could happen.
      GO BEAVS!

      • What I meant is that fans aren’t talking about the team. Game threads are dead, etc.
It’s a flawed, boring team so people are bailing on watching.

        • I understand what you say, and it makes sense.
Do those who bail on watching fit the definition of being “bandwagon fans”?

Seems to me it is more a matter of degree and balance; with the bandwagon fan being over the top focused on a team when it is winning and ignoring it when losses come.

A fan who has balance in their life can step back from steady watching/commenting while still paying attention to results and trends and not be said to have fallen off the wagon, right? Maybe they never were “on” the bandwagon?

          • I’m not sure. If something is interesting I watch, and if it isn’t, I spend my limited time on this planet doing something productive. If that makes me bandwagon then sweet, I’m bandwagon, and bandwagon makes a lot of sense. I find it sad watching say, a Raiders game, and a guy shows up with his face painted to “support” a 1-10 team that has nothing to do with his life. Think of how good he could have been at an instrument or improving in his career if he spent that valuable 5hrs doing something productive. It’s really pathetic. Everyone should be bandwagon so they can become good at things in life. Only watch when it’s worth the valuable time.

          • “Seems to me it is more a matter of degree and balance; with the bandwagon fan being over the top focused on a team when it is winning and ignoring it when losses come.”

Therein lies the rub. This team is better than the 11-13 conference record they currently sit at. But most of the time don’t play like it. Injuries aside, the talent is there. Some of the blame is on the players, some on the coaching staff for not developing some of the said talent. The continuing lack of reliable bullpen arms (notice I stated reliable, not quality) has been something that’s been an issue for a few years now.

          • Bend, are you talking to me or oldbeav?

It’s hard to argue against “if they enjoy it let them be.”
Thing is, I do let them be, and I only roll my mind’s eye wondering what they could have done with that block of time. I don’t judge them per se. I’ve just become really into maximizing time over the last decade of life, and I see how much is wasted, and it makes me wonder how strong society could be without wasted time. Maybe “pathetic” was a strong word. It’s more just sad. I really don’t want to be judgmental about it, though, because live and let live. I wish people could dedicate that type of time and energy to things they do rather than vicariously that something someone else does. This is the basis for my BIRGING/CORFING posts et al. Maybe I should write a post about the wisdom and efficiency of being a “bandwagon” fan. I consider myself a time management fan, not a bandwagon fan, fwiw.

  5. Full quote:

As Of Now My family And Myself Have decided that I will Be taking my talents to Oregon State University. As I am Fully Committed

    • Well, yes, some may have been set on getting rid of Riley. Most, however, wanted to get rid of the attitudes and repeated on-field judgement failures which he exhibited.

      • Gosh darn it guys, its not about who got rid of who but rather enjoying the journey and where we are in the present; Presently my recruiting class is ranked #16 in the nation and the Beavers…. well… are flipping walk-on QBs. Good luck!

  6. Okay…

T7… Larnach pegs a hanging… outside fastball?… I think he’s lost his slider… not that he had much.

Morrison bunts him over… totally agree with that play.

Grenier shows bunt on 0-1 and gets a bullshit high and way outside called a strike. And then he takes two balls and fouls off 8… then a close lay-off on ball 3… then another foul off… and another high and outside bullshit call looking.

That was a great at bat. That was some Brett Butler stuff.

      • He should never have shown bunt on 0-1… especially after a sacrifice. The infield was still aware.

I think the ump called a really bad strike just because he couldn’t believe he saw what he saw.

Not that I haven’t seen it all before.

  7. Donahue pops up on 1-1.

Good inning despite no runs. USC P will be driven from the game next inning if coach ain’t smart enough to go to the pen.

  8. New P (Flores?) has some down and away action v lefties… not so much in control…

fouls the 2-2 off… watches s3 that does not get called… then ump makes it up by calling the next way outside P s3. It’s okay… should have been out on the previous P.

Gretler pokes at a head high lazy FB and knocks it back to P… corners stranded.

Showing bunt would have been better.

  9. Sick of Casey not tacking on insurance runs when they ate there. Seem him strand a guy on 3rd with 1 out in almost half the games I’ve watched. When it takes you from 75% chance to win to 93%, you’ve got to bunt that run in.

    • Well… you might be right.

King did no justice to that AB. He watched a tough circle change come across the plate and didn’t swing at it. It was so pretty the ump didn’t even call it. But he called the next one that was about nine inches outside.

      Ump knew he fucked up.

  10. One pitch 5-3 out…

leaves a 1-1 curve hanging and gets it ripped a foot foul down the 3b line…

… leaves another hanging and gets lucky on a drive to the LF track…

  11. drives the next batter to 0-2 and throws one straight down the pike with malice… and it’s ignored by the ump?

    Wtf?

One ball and one nasty funky cirvle looking thing later… we’re going to 9.

  12. Nobach drives an 0-1 fatty to the 6…

Morrison two hops it to 6 and just barely loses the race to first…

Grenier is in the P’s head…

and a slow roller for a 6-3 out.

    • I was wobbling there. You could tel by the look on Casey’s face he was doing the same.

Travis earned the close and did it right.

      • But it must be said there was a much better D effort out there tonight as well.

It’s amazing how much better our P looks when the immense fielding talent we have accumulated decides to play a simple game.

I’m actually very happy with this win. BIRG me up baby!!!!

  13. Gotta say leave Travis in.

His one bad AB was against the conference leading batter… that went 3-0… the only time all night anyone got 3 balls on him…

Grenier fills the deep hole at 2b and puts down one…

Eckert now down 3-0 and Ice coming out to talk… good move.

  14. Oooooh!

Eckert just threw three great sliders… two for strikes… his FB is staying low…

    Gretler can’t find a pop-up around the turf/dirt transition…

    Travis starting to fade outside…

    … over-corrects inside… again with a foul tip…

Now at 15 P and a full count.

    This is the game.

    4-6-3 DP!!!

    Good game!

  15. 111 pitches… 72 strikes.

But the strikes came early in the count except for two ABs. And the ball stayed low and squirrely late.

Eckert looked top notch tonight. 111 P in a complete game shows great efficiency.

Grain of salt… 19 P in the 9th. But the gut said let him play even though the last AB was 12 of those 19 P.

    • Go ahead and erase all duplicates wasting this space.

Two of them occurred after I closed the browser and cut and pasted text to clear that buffer. It also duplicated a different link on another blog but wouldn’t carry over to this one when attempted again.

      • To further confound me, the last one occurred after a closed browser, a cut and paste of non-link text to clear the buffer and a hand-typed link. I thought I knew what was up, but I’m not sure why it kept plugging that same link.

  16. They don’t know they have the bats and gloves to go far. Maybe that’s our fault for not giving them that vibe.

    *giggle*

Maybe shaking the fucking ju ju tree means you shouldn’t act like an entitled child expecting a trophy.

It’s easy to say. It’s even easier to do… if you choose.

I have questions about this game, but on

  17. I would link People are People if I didn’t think the samething would happen. And that would be me being nice. I know it’s your bots.

    I hate bots.

  18. Beav’s with Beav’s with bats lose first game in NCAA’s.
They have a player whose last name is Arriola LOL. That ain’t good.

      • Wait… there are still climate change deniers? I thought they had all moved to a more nuanced position of, “Well, there’s no evidence it’s anthropogenic,” before moving on to a more reasonable, “Well, there’s no evidence it’s more than 60/70% anthropogenic.”

I think only Lindzen remains as a somewhat credible voice advocating the middle argument. But it turns out he’s being paid to be there by some very wealthy corporations and has done so by corrupting and ignoring data while making such actions the bulk of his dissent. He has apologised for all of it but remains a highly sourced lone voice in the wilderness while refusing to retract his now obsolete (and incorrect) cloud feedback argument.

I think the death knell was when Muller did an about face on the anthropogenic question after completing his own study of the data he said was insufficiently understood.

        • And the biggest problem is that people on the right side of science still don’t address the largest anthropogenic root. Does anyone even know who the five largest polluters (by far) are?

          • Exactly!

Try the one that absolutely nobody talks about, the military apparatus and its support structure. Certainly we are one of the largest polluters on earth. But the military’s numbers are never counted in the final data, which makes it not final IMO.

And just because we’re the biggest doesn’t mean all militaries in aggregate aren’t much worse in terms of net effects. But barely anyone talks about them either… unless oil wells are lit on fire or some equal slash and burn tactic grabs the news cycle for a day or two.

      • Nope. For the last fucking time. I am not liberal or conservative and cannot stand either. What I do rail against is the literal brain washing of people who are not capable of seeing both sides, researching and forming their own opinion instead of listening to everything fox or cnn spews out. By removing a side of a debate is brainwashing by silencing those that disagree with a certain point of view. That is not education or learning anything. You should try reading or listening more often instead of making ASSumptions

        • Ummm… side of a debate? There is no debate occurring that has two sides in what you are calling brainwashing. I don’t understand why you’re conflating what you incorrectly think is a “side of a debate” with science. Only one of them belongs in a science book.

          • Climate change is scientific fact. That it is something new or the assertion that it is 100% caused by man is pure horseshit. The weather, temperature and O2/CO2 levels of this planet have been in flux literally since it was formed.

Just like every polarizing issue in this country it all comes down to money. One side wants to do whatever the fuck they want whether it poisons the planet or not. The other side wants to raise a scare so they can sell useless products and rake in fat stacks of taxpayer cash for their wind farms and solar plants. None of them actually give a fuck about you or me or the environment. They want money.

          • WFO… close.

Nobody has said that climate change is 100% anthropogenic. I have seen some studies that claim it’s as high as 90%. But those studies are also the biased data reports the cynical paid shills point to for absolute vindication of their arguments.

Yeah… the absence of proper study in a fringe extreme is not evidence for a negative. It’s just a negative. That’s like creationists wanting ID to be conflated with science. I’m sorry, but “But… the eye… how do you explain the eye?” is not science, let alone a hard question for anyone who was paying attention in high school. Neither does absence of proof positive prove a negative.

But you would have me believe that?

            Why?

I see no problem funding solar and wind. I have a friend who can tell you all about new tech in hydro power facilities and structures around the world… but not here… because climate change is stupid… mean old climate change!

          • I’m fine with funding alternate power programs too, as long as they’re actually viable and not just huge money pits for friends of politicians to get rich and walk away.

How bout that ocean surf power? That’s more like it.

          • Btw… I wholly agree with you about “their” solar and wind projects getting subsidized if you’re talking about the current structure that was written into law by the energy lobby. Like any other sector in this oligarchy, red tape regulations which large corporations can eat because they are fractional compared to their overall costs were written by those corporations… literally. But for small businesses and start-ups, those costs are real.

            Duh?

Am I to understand that corporations are intentionally disenfranchising small businesses for more of a share of the market? That’s just conspiracy talk!

Oh… just looked up the definition of conspiracy. It doesn’t say anything about how corporate lobbyists gain influence with “campaign” contributions the literally write laws which hinder competition. It just says, “A secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.”

I suppose since it actually is law that it must not be harmful.

Anyway… solar and wind subsidies highly favor the very corporations who have greater profit margins in fossil fuels. That’s not a mistake. And I also do not wish to mitigate your disgust at the process that allows this. But I want you to know that disgust is aimed inappropriately.

          • Yes… I like the harmonics field. I won’t link it, because I found a lot of joy first discovering then reading u on this idea. Go look up bladeless wind turbine vortex.

Honestly, old seems to be new now. Tesla is proving to be not crazy… as Edison would not say.

          • I’m pretty sure we were always on the same side of this coin. Your sentiments imply the intuitive arguments. I can break this down on land management as well. Pick a sector.

Who is still making money after all these laws are passed? In fact, who is making even larger profits despite their politics of division? If people started asking second level questions and started ignoring the Lee Atwater v. Dick Morris distractions, Murika might once again be spelled correctly.

          • In other news, Portland School Board bans mentions of geology in math texts… except when counting geologies… and logarithmic scales. ;)

          • Oh shit! Sorry Jack, I forgot. You’re an expert on EVERYTHING. Forgive me for even trying to measure up to a fucking know-it-all. In the meantime you wouldn’t know what brainwashing was if it bit you in the ass because you’ve already been brainwashed and don’t even know it.

          • Thanks whiskey spelled incorrectly. This know nothing just got a boost because he pointed out something that was obvious to anyone with half an infinitesimal brain cell would have known but was shouted down with… what was that… what would you call it… it’s not drunk rage… that would make some kind of sense… what the fuck is that?

Okay… I find no solace in your rage against the reality.

I don’t get it, except I do get it. Gay Muslim terrorists (from Mexico?) flying planes into expecting mothers, forcing them to have abortions… them’s what we need to be afeared of.

          • fucking blows my mind every time

How? How are we even pretending to validate, let alone discuss such arcane ideas in this millennium? What the fuck is so wrong, specifically in this country, that boneheaded political talking points (extruded in various forms and flavors) even pretend to be passed off as science?

          • Since you obviously didn’t even bother to read said linked article………………….

In testimony to the board, Bill Bigelow, a former Portland teacher, told district officials that “we don’t want kids in Portland learning material courtesy of the fossil fuel industry.”

Bigelow said that material that treats climate change as anything other than fact is published by companies making concessions for fossil fuel companies. He pointed to words such as “might,” “may” and “could” in educational materials.

Never once have I denied climate change existed. You squarely came to that conclusion about me on your own. That’s a you problem. But the reasoning behind this decision by the Portland school district is 100% wrong. That quote is textbook brainwashing. I suggest you look up the definition. I’ll attach it for you to attempt to comprehend

“make (someone) adopt radically different beliefs by using systematic and often forcible pressure.”

            Key word there being systematic

There’s plenty of junk science out there as much as there is believable science

          • You just wrote that it is okay to allow science material designed by someone that has no fucking clue what they’re talking about because it’s not anywhere near their field of study… in a science book. And that’s the best case scenario. The worst case scenario, and much more likely, is that they know they’re wrong but have convinced a large swath of people that wrong might or may be right because “But… the eye… how do you explain the eye?”

And they do it because the politics of division allow them to continue to make higher profits for at least another financial reporting period, if not beyond.

I have a feeling you were wanting this to be something akin to some of the poor or extreme versions of anti-bias curriculum. It isn’t. We’re not talking about a multiparadigm discipline here. So the vague (and obvious) language of relativism coloring reality is the brainwashing you should be railing against… like the Portland Public Schools board is doing.

Btw… the linked article is simply an article about another article. Now that I look at it, it also devolves into commentary by Glenn Beck and a commenter on USN&WR… undoubtedly sharing a brain. And it finishes with a comedian picking the very low hanging fruit of… well… dontcha know the golden waves… or amber waves… of people… because and therefore forest fires… god bless Murika.

So yes, I ignored the lazy newspaper’s “report” and went straight to the source of the news, one that managed to stay on topic. You might get more traction when you start asking the money questions as well. Does anyone stand to gain from banning stupidity in science texts? There could be possible conflicts of interest going on… or not. But we don’t even get to that discussion because you think vague stupidity should be allowed as a valid and critical method of discovery.

          • And this one blew right by me:

There’s plenty of junk science out there as much as there is believable science

You’re decrying hypothetical junk science by calling the removal of actual junk science from a science book the equivalent to brainwashing?

Talk about a dog that doesn’t hunt.

          • So tell how this differs from any of the other “climate changes” of the last 1.5 billion years. and while you’re at it expound on the magnetic pole switches over the same time frame(s).

Should everything be banned just because someone disagrees with it?

Portland schools, imho, are showing just how liberal they really are. Get on the bandwagon folks and please don’t use your own brain…

          • “Should everything be banned because someone disagrees with it”

Exactly CJ. Silencing those that do not conform to your ideations or beliefs is 100% wrong. That is not educating children in public schools and as I stated is brainwashing. This would be the exact same as some large city in the south saying we are going to teach the bible in school because we don’t want our kids hearing it or learning from an entity that doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ. And just as many people would lose their shit over that. Instead of having an open discussion or debate about what is or isn’t education to our own children it just leads to name calling (ok, guilty as charged) and gets all of us nowhere. I have no problem with global warming being discussed with children as part of science curriculum. What I do have an issue with is part of it being omitted because it doesn’t conform to a certain groups opinion. Or some junk science being taken as fact. Have the discussion, but have all of it and don’t leave anything out. That’s education.

But hey, if you want to bury your head in the sand and do not see this as part of something bigger that is being taken from all of us a little bit more at a time, or you are like craigbeav and are happier than a pig in shit because “your side is winning and you THINK that’s best for all of us” go right ahead. I can’t help you. All I can say is stop listening to Fox and CNN news. Research on your own, sift through the bullshit and come to your own conclusions. Now excuse me while I go make me a new tinfoil hat.

Oh and nicebeaver I ALWAYS go full retard

          • Should everything be banned just because someone disagrees with it?

ENOUGH! This is not a fucking disagreement. It’s not even a discussion. It is the removal of language derived from nothing even resembling science from a science book.

Unless you think 2+2=1,387.284, then there is no disagreement to be had concerning climate change… or that it’s anthropogenic.

This would be the exact same as some large city in the south saying we are going to teach the bible in school because we don’t want our kids hearing it or learning from an entity that doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ.

No. 100% incorrect. Not even close.

This would be the same as telling those Southerners that it’s fine that they teach the bible in school, but it would have to be edited so that Jesus stood up in the manger, declared there was no god and fell over dead. The end. I suppose if they stood up and said they wanted the real text taught, we would just be in disagreement?

What I do have an issue with is part of it being omitted because it doesn’t conform to a certain groups opinion.

NOTHING THAT IS A PART OF SCIENCE IS BEING OMITTED FROM THE GOD DAMNED SCIENCE CURRICULUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT”S FUCKING SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT”S NOT OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT”S JUST FUCKING SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh… I get it now. You were trolling me by pretending to be that dense. You knew it would annoy the hell out of me to even imagine the idea that anyone who went to OSU would be so fucking stupid that they would think the energy lobby’s focus group talking points actually made any sense.

            Well played sir.

            Well played.

        • “No. 100% incorrect. Not even close.”

“Oh… I get it now. You were trolling me by pretending to be that dense. You knew it would annoy the hell out of me to even imagine the idea that anyone who went to OSU would be so fucking stupid that they would think the energy lobby’s focus group talking points actually made any sense.

          Well played sir.

          Well played.”

You’re awesome Jack. Keep being awesome. That was not a compliment

          • Tut tut tut…

That’s just your opinion that you didn’t mean it as a compliment.

Tell both sides of the story. It may be because you are also deeply in love with me.

This is precisely the logic you just got done defending?

          • Look whiskey, I don’t know what to tell you. Climate change is real and anthropogenic. It’s also past the point where we can control equilibrium even if we stopped all carbon emissions on the planet at once.

So thanks to Big Oil for distracting the stupids long enough to rape us all. We told you so is little consolation when we’re all going to be fighting for limited resources in the next couple decades.

And the thing that makes “NUH-UH… PURPLE!!!” the stupidest “side of a disagreement” ever is that their distraction has kept you from knowing that their whole industry is about to fail.

Yes, maybe as soon as this summer the Big Oil bubble will burst, and at least two-thirds of the industry will ask you for a bail-out. And you can thank yourself for being a part of the problem even while you think you’re protesting bail-outs and such.

          • And I’m sorry for getting so upset.

I thought more highly of you, and I was very disappointed with myself for how wrong I was in my original judgment.

          • And I’m sorry for even that snarky apology.

But it was all so amazingly and stupendously moronic that I went into a rage. You are not allowed to be that stupid. No. That would not be unintelligent. That would be stupid.

It actually hurt my sense of faith in humankind.

          • No, I’m sorry Jack. Sorry I didn’t respond sooner……………But I have this thing called a job that requires me to commute 5 days a week at least to a city I don’t live in………………….But much like you, I am gonna go off the rails here……….

“Yes, maybe as soon as this summer the Big Oil bubble will burst, and at least two-thirds of the industry will ask you for a bail-out. And you can thank yourself for being a part of the problem even while you think you’re protesting bail-outs and such.”

I never protested anything. Because protesting is a waste of time and stupid as shit. Want to shut something or someone down in this day and age??? The answer is plain and simple. Stop giving them your money (as WFO stated above).

However it is not that easy. Honestly I don’t have a choice. Unless I want to ride a bike or walk 80 miles a day. I went back to school 2003-05 to better my education for myself and provide for my family. In the last 5 years jobs here in the mid-valley have been eliminated. Cost of living has gone up and my wages have gone down by 1/3. And this is a profession in the engineering field. Welcome to my world. Oh, and then there’s that affordable healthcare POS act passed by our current CIF that requires me to pay $400 a month for “affordable” and “awesome” health care insurance that only covers 70% of the cost. I am responsible for the other 30% for whatever the provider doesn’t write off. You can rip on “idiot boy” George W. Bush all you want. I won’t disagree. But Obama is an even bigger piece of shit who has made things even worse for many of us. I used to not live paycheck to paycheck. But now I have no choice to keep a roof over my and my sons heads. So excuse the fuck out of me for having no choice but to give money to “big oil” to put gas in my car, to drive 80 miles at least 5 days a week, for a job I am overqualified but underpaid for, to put food on the table, keep a roof over our heads, make my house payment, etc etc etc. I have no loan payments either. The extravagant lifestyle is out of my league.

But those of you self employed or own your own business? More power to ya. But if you follow a party line because you think “your side is winning” or because it “betters your cause”. Fuck off. YOU are part of the problem. Not the solution. And this little piddly ass horseshit about what is or isn’t put in a book because YOU disagree with science that directly supports a cause? I could post a thousands links that support both sides of climate change. But most of them are horseshit. Does burning gasoline/fuel harm mother nature? Yes. I don’t disagree with that. Did CFC’s cause the hole in the ozone layer? That is now non-existent? Or much smaller? OR was science WRONG???? Here’s what I am saying. Research. Research some more. Come to your own conclusions. But listening to something that one side says without listening to the other is well…………brainwashing. If that is 100% wrong? I can’t help you.

With that said, goodnight and don’t bother responding Jack. Some of us not as smart as you or educated, allegedly (I have an AAS degree. Does that count???) have to get up in the morning and go to a job on a holiday weekend to make ends meet.

So kindly go fuck yourself (I write that with a smile since someone obviously more educated told me I need to lighten the fuck up and quit posting political shit on a sports blog).

  19. Fuck! Humiliating!

Maybe I should have known better than to have high expectations for our baseball or any other team. Hell, there HAS to be a team, any team, on campus that can compete for SOMETHING in 2016 besides WBB, right? RIGHT??!!

  20. Keep yelling obscenities at everyone whiskey, I think you’re starting to get through. FUCK! Brainwashing! Pussies!

      • Hmmm let me see if I can find it…oh ya about 5 comments up you literally called Jack a “fucking know-it-all” because he broke down how flawed your argument is/was. Seriously man you just make yourself sound stupid with how much you go out of the way to be offensive and rude. It hurts your arguments in the same way that Jack’s self obsessive rambling hurts his. So some people disagreed with a controversial comment that you yourself posted. So what? I guess I’m just asking you to lighten up a little, buddy :)

Also, stop fucking starting political arguments on a sports blog for fucks sake

        • Thanks for that life changing advice Dad. I’ll file it with the rest of Jack’s opinions

“Also, stop fucking starting political arguments on a sports blog for fucks sake”

I’m guessing you missed previous threads started by the owner of this blog. It also states general discussion thread above. Take it up with the owner of said blog if you have an issue

          • The Tampa/Pittsburgh NHL game was better entertainment. Want to see a team without it’s best player and starting goaltender out, with a never say die attitude? Watch the Tampa Bay Lightning. They came back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to win on the road in OT in a pivotal game 5 of a 2-2 series. Pittsburgh was 46-0-0 this season leading after 2 periods. No more and they’re heading home with a chance to close out the ECF and advance to their 2nd straight Stanley Cup final. Tampa is a team that plays as a team should

          • Try as I may, and I have tried, I cannot support a game which supports fighting, two red lines and auto icing… on a small sheet.

Any one of those adds up to bad stick.

  21. Do “Casey’s Clusterfucks” need to win their last four games to make it to the tourney? Never seen such bad P-12 baseball overall. Utah Utes are the feel good story and they’ve lost three or four times to Utah Valley this year.

  22. OT: I was reading an article on O-LIve about the commitment of Quantino Allen (I think he’s a good get, BTW). Anyway, there were about 150 comments; the majority from duck trolls. So, I wrote some code to count the number posts by each participant, posted the counts and declared some dude named ‘BadLittleDoggy’ as the winner with 40 posts.

    I got censored.

    Here are the rules: http://www.oregonlive.com/forums/index.ssf?rules.html

Does anyone know what rules they actually go by as I can’t see anything I said to break any of the ones listed?

    • What’s the deal with the new commit Connor Blount? I’m seeing that name on a uni. Wisconsin commit also as a preferred walk on.

      • Blount was going to walk on at Wisconsin but was persuaded to come to OSU. Maybe out lack of depth was more attractive?
Now we have Garretson, McMaryion, Moran, Prieto and Blount as our QB’s on the roster, and I’m assuming Moran will redshirt if possible.

      • I was struck by Fehmel’s response to the error by Grenier when compared to the way Jake fell apart in a recent similar situation.
Will only ONE victory next weekend get the Beavs to the tourney?

        • I stated in a previous thread that Fehmel was a pleasant surprise out of the bullpen and he has started some midweek games already. I’m curious as to why it took PC so long to ditch Jake Thompson and promote Fehmel to the Sunday starter. Nice to bounce back after that butt reaming yesterday and win a series on the road. Need to at least take 2 of 3 from UCLA next weekend. I think they’ll be in should they do that.

Anyone else seen any news about the Portland game at Goss from April that was postponed? Has it been cancelled?

          • Yeah, I think two wins v UCLA puts them in, seriously doubt only one would do it.
As for Jake, he illustrates the importance of mental focus/toughness, Casey has always said he had the arm. He is an example (although not a frosh) of the players Casey says he has been forced to play rather than develop due to injuries.

  23. Noticed Chuckie Keeton’s latest follows on twitter were a bunch of Oregon State athletics team accounts and Richard Mullaney?

Makes me wonder if a graduate transfer is in the works? Doesn’t make a ton of sense for him, but maybe he’s angling for a career on our staff after college?

  24. OT: As a Blazer fan I was thinking I would be rooting for the Warriors for a couple reasons a) for a stupid reason I get a little bit of solace if the team who beat the team I like wins the championship b) there could be a better chance of coaxing the Durantula away if they lose another playoff series c) Steph and Clay are just plain fun to watch.

But I must say, it is fun seeing punk asses Draymond Green and Andrew Bogut getting their shit ran off the court. After the Portland Series I think I dislike Green more then anyone else currently in the NBA. He gets away with murder, bitches about every single call or no call, constantly shows up the refs and gets in opposing players faces without getting a tech for some stupid reason, then talks shit in the media after the game… Having a hard time recalling the last all star caliber player who was as classless as he. Fun guys to root against.

    • I never knew how big of a bitch Green was before the Blazers series, and he’s doing nothing now to change that narrative.

    • You dislike DG for kicking Steven Adams in the pussy? You must have missed Lebronda flopping his way all over Canada after being hit by his own teammate. Poetic justice would be a Thunder/Craptors finals but that isn’t going to happen.

You can forget about Durant winding up in Portland if that was your thought

      • Dont really care that DG kicked Adams Per Se… Seeing him in prime time with a little extra spotlight with Steph injured showed just how big of a tool he is.

Forgot you had a personal connection to Durant, should have asked you first. Blazers have something like 48 million in cap space for next year so you really can’t count any UFA’s out.

        • Oh to be a Blazer fan. 1. Until they actually get a big name player to come to Portland as a free agent I don’t think you can count anyone in and 2. Just about every team in the league will have enough cap space to sign Durant and none can offer more than OKC can. You should start talking yourself into Dwight Howard cuz that’s about as good as Portlands gonna get this offseason. Draymond is definitely a big piece of shit though that is for sure. It’s interesting to watch the Warriors and their fans starting to turn into the basketball version of the Seahawks. They’re really starting to alienate a lot of people. ESPN helps a lot with that too

        • 48 million in cap space? Cool. There’s other teams out there that have more. And more to offer than Portland can. Just keep that in mind.

With that said, the Blazers were the youngest team in the league. Terry Stotts did an amazing job guiding them to the playoffs, 5 seed no less. IN A STACKED western conference. He deserved coach of the year honors over Steve Kerr imo. However you are delusional if you think Portland beats the Clippers in a 7 game series after Chris Paul AND what’s his overrated name went down.

    • I’m open to it. I wonder if having Nike’s flagship school 40 miles south would net us a large $$$ deal. I’d imagine outfitting us with all the bells and whistles while next to your biggest apparel competitor would be enticing. I’m more of a UA fan than Adidas, personally. Although their Maryland uniforms are bit, uhh, yeah.

Our Nike contract expires in June 2019 and is worth roughly $17.4 million.

      • Other companies would be more interested in OSU if they were more of a national team. The teams getting the big deals are well known nationally. Maryland was chosen because UA is based in Maryland and the founder played football there.

OSU would probably get the same $ with Adidas or Under Armour as they would with Nike.

        • There are a couple of reasons I would like to see OSU try out Under Armor. Nike has never given us great product anyway, and we’ll always be receiving lesser quality product than UofO because of the obvious ties to the school. Under Armor has also recently tried muscling into Nike’s backyard by setting up offices in Portland. They recently donated money to a local city park which wasn’t well received by Nike. Obviously they are getting into a bit of a turf war with Nike. Competition is good, and you’d think UA would want to increase their presence in Nike’s home state. Think of all the free publicity they would get with Civil War matchups. UA is being aggressive, which I’d rather be a part of than get another round of sports bra unis to laugh about for decades. Stick with Nike and there is no competition.

Also, UA has increased it’s visibility by signing some of the premier athletes in all sports. Sure, they’re a much smaller company, but they’re also growing.

          • There are very few, if any, circumstances I would be willing to subjugate my beliefs so as to accept plastic shit made in China by slave labor.

Sorry… you suck if you disagree… no matter how much you think design drives demand… because it never fucking did so… but now we’re in a nuanced world of did and didn’t.

    • These deals will never see their finality. They are sickening at best. You can imagine anything worse than sickening.

There will be a time when all this will be hindsight, like many other things ignored by the right wing avaritia machine. They will be judged by the entertainment value of their death throes.

  25. Anyone get a feel for the assistants level of charisma out in the recruiting trail? I think Lockette and Brennan are probably good but are kids and their respective families impressed with Clune et al? I know Andersen can probably talk a good game but I get a strange vibe many of the coaches aren’t too impressive on relating to these young kids. Perhaps it’s just the newness of it all that doesn’t allow me to get a pulse on this staff. Already feels like a really long offseason. It is nice that BeavRecruiting is doing a good job retweeting these early offers but the reality is we’ll see very few of these kids at OSU.

    • I think Hall was a good addition for recruiting purposes, and Odum was one of our top recruiters this last cycle. Have no feel for Klune yet.

Crazy how many offers we’ve seen so far. I’ve stopped keeping track because there have been so many and like you said, most we’ll never see again.

  26. Andrew Moore promoted to AA yesterday.

The Mariners have an abundance of former OSU players in their minor league system right now.

    AA – Moore, Sam Gaviglio
AAA – Stefen Romero, Kraig Sitton, Dan Robertson, Tyler Smith,

    • Hahaha, does this suprise anybody? It’s a race to see who can out shyster the other shyster. Next will be team advisor jobs with payed housing and a stipend for 5* players parents/coaches/family members.

      • Whatshisname at UW is just dirty as hell and always has been. I would say he only cares about winning, but he truly sucks at that too.

It is a misgiving that young people don’t understand how damaging Romar is. It is sad to me on any given day. It sucks that not one of his commits sees how UW hoopsters devolve under him always.

I don’t get it. You get three years of guaranteed money, but you’re still a stupid fuck?

        That is the UW way.

    • Well it’s not like OSU can point any fingers. Hired a coach with a 5 star kid, new coach hired an assistant coach with two top recruits as sons.

But yeah, those are the rumors that Ionescu is a package deal with her coach. Rare for women’s bball but its happened many times before in other sports. Football being the obvious one.

      • I don’t entirely agree with your statement. OSU coaches were not specifically hired with the intent to bring on a 5* player or any player for that matter. Plus, if true, this HS coach is more window dressing than anything. OSU needed a HEAD coach and assistants, not some graduate assistant or tertiary coach. Now we know why Rueck called off the dogs on this one (assuming it’s true, of course).

        • Do who say what and what? HS coaches? Rueck?

I’m not sure they’re in it to save themselves if the whole point is an OSU purge of past mentalities.

Mr. Ay Dee is doing right so far.

      • I think most people thought of Wayne Tinkle and Stevie Thompson as good hires prior to knowing anything about potential family recruits. Wayne Tinkle was an up and coming coach at Montana. Stevie Thompson was considered a quality assistant coach with college head coaching experience. I for one do not see any correlation. By the way I never found anything that rated Tres Tinkle or Steven Thompson above 4 stars.

        • Agree on Tinkle but you’re just kidding yourself if you think the Thompson brothers were not the only reason Thompson Sr. was hired

          • Highly disagree.

Stevie Thompson was the lead man on probably the best high school team ever.

            EVER!

He then went on to learn from some scrub. And he almost led his team to a title on the next level. He wasn’t NBA material in the end. But he was great fun to watch and enjoy when he was a kid playing ball.

I’m not saying there were no politics. But his hire stands on its own merits. ST’s connections in LA go back to him being a legend.

  27. 2017 commit Xavier Davis was supposedly arrested. I can’t find anything about it except Angie posted about it on Blitz (I don’t subscribe any longer, so can’t read it). Anyone know the details?

  28. Alex Forsyth set his decision date. See him all the time wearing Oregon state gear. According to Andrew it is down to us, the dicks, and Ucla

    • Average to below average arm strength which is why he didn’t get any major offers. Nice touch but he’s not going to be throwing into tight windows or downfield. Defenders will be able to close on his ball much faster. He’d even have trouble making quick screen passes because he lacks zip on his ball.

Fine with him being a walk on but I don’t see him winning the job or even rising above 3rd string on his own.

      • Surprised he and his family would choose to pay out of state tuition over in state. Maybe he likes his chances of earning a scholarship at OSU?

    • 56.8 completion percentage says it all. No good.

Edit: somewhat kidding. I didn’t watch the film, but in general that’s true.

    • He only had one interception his senior year however so those could be throw aways. At least he. Wants to compete could be a good game manager.

        • Seriously, I want to think you are saying that he tosses a lot of inconsequential, yet smart, incompletions.

The first reading had me thinking you said all numbers don’t matter, and the one outstanding stat he has doesn’t matter either.

          • Sorry i was writing on my phone at work so i had to stop and then start again. I guess i forgot where i was in the sentence. My main point was one interception is good no matter how u slice it.

          • Also, consider receivers’ performance. Consider throwaway plus potentially drops, maybe that number improves…

I hope we’re not seeing a cohort of Nick Mitchells coming in… (no offense Nick and best of luck).

    • Crazy and pretty disgusting story. I know this is a beav blog and we’re all a bit biased but it’s hard not to see a lot of parallels to UO. The whole “got too big too fast and being a safe school took a backseat to being a winner” dynamic. My guess and hope is that the many other schools that this is happening at start to get outed as well. UO basketball comes to mind…..

        • He’ll probably be the Dick Cheney of coaches and pull the strings in the background while some saint is named the official coach.

          • Hey!

His daddy beat up on Noriega to protect what he thought would be an honorable legacy.

How did that one work out?

idiot boy was still idiot boy.

          • I could go on and on… because George W. Bush was oe of the worst presidents in the history of bad presidents. I seriously doubt he was as sober as Andrew Jackson.

Stop that drinking now, I mean it.

            Anybody choking on a peanut?

            Yeah… never seen it before.

          • And yes…

this means I believe he was a liar then and probably still is. It was proven then, when he was a fucking president. Nothing was done about it. My friends and family died. My friends and family got treated like complete shit once we came back from not dying.

Fuck idiot boy and anything remotely resembling him and his way of life.

  29. OT… I’ve seen enough of the distraction that Green is for you non-GSW fans who also do not pay attention to the league. Dude is actually pretty good for a Michigan State… um… not alum… attendee?

Do we not recall Zach Randolph?

    I mean… seriously?

  30. BASEBALL…….Leg humpers best Utah in the first of three this weekend; if those two end the season tied for first in the PAC, does Utah get automatic bid??

      • Nicebeaver, what’s the outlook on the 3 local kids, I think Sherwood, Sheldon and Westlinn, committing to the beavs?

        • I have no read on Morris or Forsythe. Someone on here has said on multiple occasions they’ve spotted forsythe out and about wearing Beaver gear, so hopefully that’s a positive. Shear wanted an OSU offer since last year but they kindof strung him out and waited till well after Arizona offered. I don’t think that strategy helped them much. I still think he could initially pick OSU, but i suspect if UofO offers him later, he’d switch in a heartbeat. He’s from Eugene, which would make playing in his hometown pretty hard to pass up.

Either way, I put little stock in these early commitments. I think players want to see improvement from OSU over last year before they sign up to play for us. Seems reasonable too.
