Must see NCAA baseball. Should be a great series. The Beavs enter with a 12 game winning streak, and an undefeated home record. Beavs are ranked #1, Arizona #9. Beavs, with that #1 ranking, now have a target on their back and will get the best of every squad they face. Beavs are 32-36 all-time vs AZ. It would be nice to overtake them this year.

The series will come down to pitching. Beavs lead the NCAA in pitching with a near 1 ERA. Heimlich has become the beast I knew he was. I haven’t heard the rotation yet, but if Thompson is going in game 3 I’ll marking that as a loss. So, I’m going with a 2-1 outcome. If Thompson isn’t pitching still likely 2 out of 3, but at least they should have a shot in the final game.

Go Beavs

    • Yes, and he’s earned it.

“Beavs are 32-36 all-time vs AZ. It would be nice to overtake them this year.” That’s impossible to do this year unless they meet multiple times in the post season.

      • Yeah I’m not sure what I was talking about. Wrote the post quickly yesterday while half asleep. I should have said close the gap, catch them next year.

    • Yes, believe he’s the 3, but Casey has mixed and matched in the past, even with starters.

About a 5% chance to win the 3rd game with him pitching vs a good team. If he wins that game with a sub 3.5ERA I’ll buy in that something has clicked, but until then, no faith at all in him.

  1. Lineup is posted. Adley in the 9 hole, first time this season? KJ is the DH. Zak at 1b, Nick back to SS where D1 has him rated as the best in the land.

EDIT: Per Casey on pregame, KJ is DH today due to bumping thumb on a helmet last week and difficulty throwing the ball.

  2. This is great baseball. Perfect sacrifice bunt, followed by perfect fielding to get the out. Beavs threatening to tie.

Edit: Beavs tie it 1-1 on a sac fly.

  3. So I get why we’ve got a bunch of right handed hitters against a lefty pitcher, but to bat Donahue who is a lefty batting 275 when you’ve got three rightys behind him hitting 300 plus is beyond me.

    • Sorry, thumbed you down instead of up. One too many.
      Great throw.
Is he a freshman? Wasn’t sure how that worked with the football thing.

  4. Beavs escape the brutal error.
I really would like to be a talent scout. Spotted Luke (and many others) as beasts/busts very early on. How does one go about changing careers to become a talent scout? haha.

  5. Team has been looking for a righty out of the pen, Hickey was the more likely guy but Gambrell is well thought of by the staff. Rough time to come in.

  6. Now we know why Donahue was in the game? Pretty shallow SAC fly but it worked. Beavs (and the weather) working over the closer for AZ.
Jockitch was right, I was wrong; the starter couldn’t make it through 8. Glad to tip the cap to jockitch!

  7. Go Beavs! Geez, what is up the Arizona batting averages? Have they been playing in a Seniors slowpitch league? Beav pitching kept them in check just enough to get the win.

  8. An explanation for some of the AZ batting: Mike Parker said pre-game that AZ scored 63 runs in a 3 game series against a dreadful non conference opponent. Easy to spike everyone’s avg with that kind of weekend.
Go Beavs, win the series tommorow.

    • Yup, not saying that Arizona is not a good team but playing Hartford, McNeese St. and Eastern Kentucky padded Arizona’s batting averages considerably. I remember the Beavs played Hartford a few years back and it was the same thing. All Hartford’s pitchers could do were throw 83 mile fastballs down the middle of the plate and the Beavs teed off against them.

  9. So Beavs take advantage of an error and passed ball to get the win. Nice to see the pitching reduce the damage from the errors — the difference in the game. Beav hitting and patience at the plate needs a lot of work. Would like to see Donahue moved to 7th in the lineup. Solid win, like some indicated above, better to be lucky than good.

    • You beat me to it, nice to see KJ’s interview right here on AB!! All this and angry gets a few bucks, what’s not to like?
Maybe I will go buy some tires!

  10. Is Rutchman non-scholarship in both sports? Pretty sure he was for football, so he must be for baseball. Maybe that was the plan, to allow him to try both sports for a year, and then if he wants to continue both, he can take a football scholarship spot.

  11. I don’t know what Scott Rueck has in mind for the next few years, but I fear the
Beavs wbb will not be winning many (any?) games vs. the ucks.

  12. Crap, my theoretical “perfect sports Saturday” of all Beav teams winning and Duck teams losing is already blowing up before it is even starting. Lady Canards are dominating Maryland so far, 12 point led going into the 4th quarter.

Update- it’s blown up. Ducks dominate Maryland. P-12 must be a tough league, but I still don’t think they stand a chance against UConn

    • I had mine last evening with the last second dagger in OT to kill the Badgers run, followed by the baseball comeback. Personal nightmare of both arch rivals in the Final Four avoided.

  13. Keys for WBB? I look for the opponent to again focus on Weise and trying to take her contributions away? I’d like to see the FR McWilliams get the green light to shoot, also encourage players to take the open mid-range shots. OSU’s inside game and rebounding advantage should be fine.

    • Pivek replaced her in the starting lineup. An Olive commenter said Katie had a 3-point shot like a “frozen rope.” Her 3s haven’t been falling. If the frozen rope description is accurate let’s hope she’s worked on giving it more of an arc.

  14. I’ve been waiting for an article about OSU vs FSU on ESPN……nothing. in fact almost no beaver press on the WBB home page. 7 of the 8 games have breakdown and/or postgame articles. Nothing for the beavs.

  15. FSU has a girl who can dunk and she’s only 5’11”.

Keys for the Beavs – it’s the usual game plan. Lock down on defense and make enough shots on the offensive end to pull it out. If FSU has trouble making 3’s, then its going to be a long game for them.

Pivec is the key player for the Beavs. She’s stepped up her game since the postseason started. She can do more offensively to take pressure off of Wiese. Shooting over 50% since the pac 12 tournament.

  16. Fehmel is going to have to really spot his fastball today. I didn’t realize until last week when the radar gun was on at ASU, that he threw only in the mid 80s. A team like UA will tee that up more.

Offense will really need to help out today. I think it’ll take around 8 or 9 runs to win today.

  17. Beavs take a one run lead on the strength of Donahue’s pinch hit performance (sarc) and #8 hole hitter Zak Taylor’s 2RBI double.
On to the t7 Fehmel at 88 pitches.

      • God, I hope so. KU picked a nice time to play their crappiest game of the season. Ducks play Gonzaga, right? They could easily beat the Zags. It’s going to be an annoying couple of weeks around here and insufferable if they win the championship.

        • That’s right, I just checked the bracket. Hopefully, UNC or UK ends this nonsense, but South Carolina is playing some suffocating defense be interesting if they can get by Florida.

    • I said it way back in the fall. That team would win the Pac-12 and make it to the final four. But I didn’t think they could do it after Boucher went down. You gotta give credit when it’s due. They man handled the chicken hawks. Jordan Bell was a beast in the paint for them against KYU and like it or not Dana Altman IS the best coach in the Pac-12. Maybe even on the west coast. Whiskey even said to his old man last night, it’s really funny how they lucked into Altman because everyone else turned them down.

Despite the wimmins team bowing out in the sweet 16, the baseball team won the series against the mild kittens today and will go for the sweep tomorrow. Although Angry’s man crush Jake Thompson is on the bump tomorrow and he stinks so they’ll probably lose.

    • To make matters worse, The Oregonian gave Canzano a front page article to fawn over Altman. Canzano glosses over the fact that he called for his resignation during “transfer-gate”. We can also order a 152 page commemorative book on the historic final four appearance. Gross, indeed!

  18. The Beavs may actually get the game in today, latest weather forecast is 35%-70% for showers/rain.

D1 Baseball has a writer at the series, his latest piece is behind a paywall but in the free teaser he says, “Arizona has come out on the wrong end of these two classic games and may view things differently, but the fact is that we’ve seen two well-oiled, potentially Omaha bound teams squaring off at the top of their games.”

So, my question to you degenerates is, do you agree that AZ is “potentially Omaha bound”? Maybe some well heeled person here has access to the whole story. I don’t see the ‘cats making it to Omaha with their porous D. It’s early, even the Beavs could fail this year, but I seriously doubt it.

Now, lets see what Jake can do. GO BEAVS!

    • Not with that bullpen they won’t. Don’t get me wrong, those guys CAN mash but the only way they make it to Omaha is if their offense carries them there. Match them up against a great pitching opponent and their D and bullpen costs them big time. See yesterday and Friday. Bullpen and errors led to both losses. They could just as easily won this series already.

    • Either both teams are Omaha bound, or both are regional bracket busters. These teams are equal in different ways, so you can’t say one is bound and the other is not. If they don’t make Omaha, they will upset some teams in the tourney. It is still early in the season and the PAC12 champion could come down to the final weeks like it did last year. Ducks are looking good all of a sudden too….they are a legit contender if they sweep the Huskies.

  19. Off topic for this thread, but Ethan Thompson, Stephens younger brother, won the Cali open championship last night. Had 26 points. I’ve heard from multiple people they think he will go pro. Should help our back court out a lot next season.

  20. Jake pitching better of late. He seems to be an all or nothing pitcher. 5 strike outs. throws six straight balls before getting a double play ball.

    • True, but he did compound it by missing his spot on the base hit and then whatever the hell that was that hit the Wildcat batter. Cost him a chance for a win.

    • It’s too bad…that’s his identity 4-5 solid shutdown innings then meltdown mode. I’m good with that as long as the coaches give him a good middle reliever. Elsert doing a good job so far.

    • I predict Dillon Brooks will finally start getting called for his multiple pivot feet in the next game, because there is no East Coast Bias. And I’ll have to listen to Duck fan talk about how it wasn’t walking all year… so why now? That coupled with Dorsey finally not being able to call it over the Empire State Building, through the window, off the wall, two bounces and through the hoop will make that game not fun to watch.

And Zags will rely on the refs to call it impartially. South Carolina made it this far in part because they are small enough that their bouncing off other bodies seems like their not really fouling anyone. Zags is strong enough to put them on their butts if they try that, and we’ll have to see if the refs let it go or call the foul on Zags just because.

I would figure Zags over UNC in the final because UNC has a tendency in this tourney to be weak on the back end of each weekend. They were just lucky they weren’t playing teams that could close late multiple possession leads… like they almost lost yesterday.

  21. Most important games the rest of the way are the mid week games. Losses there hurt twice as much as a weekend loss.

Should have enough pitching to handle the mid weeks. Tweedt will likely get the ball with all of the bullpen available.

I wonder what the issue is with martinek, hickey and Donovan. Supposed to be contributors this year and only hickey has had an appearance.

    • Christian Martinek is enduring the tragic passing of his older brother. I don’t know how much that is playing a role, but it has to matter.

  22. I was with angry when he said of the series vs the Cats that, “The series will come down to pitching.”

Seems Casey had another take, as reported by Eggers:

Said the OSU coach: “I told the guys, ‘(The Wildcats) are coming in as the No. 1 hitting team in the nation, but we’re going to be a better offensive club than they are for the weekend. I’m putting my money on you.’ And they came through.”

Oregon State secured a series sweep with an 11-7 victory on a dreary Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium. While OSU’s considerable pitching prowess proved effective, it was the Beavers’ bats that made the difference, especially in the finale.

The Beavers out-hit the Wildcats 31-19 in the three games, and more important, outscored them 20-14.

    No matter, Beavs sweep…….sweet!

    http://www.pamplinmedia.com/pt/12-sports/351704-229334-beavers-live-up-to-billing

    • Interesting response from Jay Johnson……………

“That’s a great team over there,” said Arizona coach Jay Johnson, who took the Wildcats to the College World Series championship game last June in his first season at the helm. “That’s a national championship-caliber team.

“They’ve had a couple of them (2006 and ’07), and I’m sure Coach Casey would tell you this team is right in there with those two clubs. A very complete team.”

  23. Sounds like Casey was using a little reverse psychology because the media theme was pitching vs.hitting. I know Arizona had gaudy hitting stats, but I don’t think enough was made of the padding that happened against weak non-conference competition. Like you said, it was a sweet sweep however you choose to analyze it.

  24. Anyone interested in joining a fantasy baseball keeper league? It’s full now, but we need reserves because some of the owners are flaky.

    • Neither will hire an agent, so both can come back if they don’t like their draft grade.

Frankly, there’s no way in hell a team drafts Thompson Jr at this point, there are way too many intriguing prospects out there in this draft. Eubanks may be a late 2nd round pick, but I think he could drastically improve his stock with another year.

When they go to the May draft combine, NBA scouts will tell them what they need to work on to be an NBA caliber player and both will come back to Oregon State because neither are ready yet.

      • I could see Eubanks opening a few eyes in a combine setting, but I don’t think his combination sub 7 foot height and lack of outside shot will get him drafted. If he performs well in the physical measurables (jumping and agility tests) it will probably make him a guy to watch for several teams as we go into the 2018 draft. This is probably more about putting himself on the radar for the draft next year, so he knows which areas he needs to focus on inproving.

    • The way the new early entry rules are set up, it’s become a smart decision for anyone who plays at the high D-1 level really. They get to work out and stay in shape while judging their own skills against other high major basketball players. Then they come back after they find out that teams don’t even know what team they play for let alone where they might draft them

If they decide to stay in the draft then it’s time for some head scratching

      • Agree, it’s just a good way to get feedback from the next level. What they need to improve on if they want to play in the NBA. There’s no penalty for declaring.

  25. Has the NCAA told CBS not to mention the little academic scandal put on the deep back burner involving their blue blood name brand Tarheels?

  26. The D1 writer who was in Corvallis for the series last weekend has a piece up which echo’s some of Eggers thoughts about the strength of the Beavs bats. The story is behind a paywall, but the teaser says,

All we heard about coming into the weekend was how outstanding the Oregon State pitching staff was, and how that and their defense would continue to carry them. It certainly still holds true that those are the strengths of this Beaver team, but I came away from Corvallis just as impressed with the polish of their lineup. Nick Madrigal was relatively quiet over the first two games, before breaking out in game three, and yet this lineup still showed plenty of length and production. They can get offense from the bottom of their lineup and got key hits from under the radar contributors like Jack Anderson this weekend. The Beavers very quietly have seven players hitting over .300 this season, ten over .280, and four players with .400 or better on-base percentages. Rave about their pitching all you want – they deserve it. But, make no mistake, the Beavers were extremely impressive with the bats too.

QUESTION: Have we seen enough to say that the bats are “extremely impressive”? I do agree with the observation that the bottom of the lineup has more than held up their end; still, seems we need another series or two to get really excited about offense. Adley could certainly be a big factor there when he catches fire.

Anyone with an opinion on the strength of Stanford’s arms?
EDIT/ADD: On paper furd’s arms look like a middle of the road test for the Beavs: 167 innings pitched, 60 BB, 148 K’s, .211 BA against.
    For comparison, Beavs stats: ip 189, 51BB, 181 K, BA against=.172.

First pitch today 3pm, St Mary’s is supposed to have a live stream of their own.
This link may be worth a try:
    http://www.smcgaels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=101607&SPID=12533&DB_LANG=C&&DB_OEM_ID=21400&ATCLID=209894092

    • I got the impression the writer was specifically talking about last weekend. I would agree that we need more evidence to call their bats extremely impressive in the big picture sense.

  27. Stanford Preview –

    Took 2 of 3 from Utah last week. 13 -6 Overall. 10 – 2 at home.

Pitching – Likely the second best pitching team behind OSU. Team ERA of 2.80.

Offense -Ranks last in PAC12 in slugging, OBP, runs, hits, RBIs, triples, HRs, total bases, and walks.

They are relying on their pitching to hold the line and scratch out enough runs to win. In their 6 losses, they were shutout 4 times.

On paper, this looks like a bad matchup for Stanford. A poor hitting team vs the best pitching team. Lucky for Stanford, it’s at home. They’ll need to knock out the starters early to have a chance. Stanford has played some good teams so they won’t be intimidated.

2 of 3 is a very realistic goal for the Beavs.

    • Yup…2/3 should be expected. Stanford is no walk in the park (PUN intended), their pitchers are disciplined and wont be giving many free passes to the bases.

Expect another fun series, Beavs need to get to 3-4 runs per game, and should keep Stanford under 3 runs for the first two games. Game 3 should be another big coin flip regarding pitching, not sure what to expect there. Stanford does have the home field, so hopefully our veterans can provide their experiences from previous contests.

  28. It was Tweetd 3.2 Innings with 3 Runs and 7 hits 2 K’s

    Then Eisert for 1 Inning 0 hits 0 runs 1 K

    Now Britton 0.1 innings 1 hit 0 runs 1 intentional walk 0 K’s

  29. Beavs win 4-3. The Gaels pitchers had not issued a walk all game until the 9th inning. Feels like the Beavs stole this one as they were certainly out played.

    • Only caught bits of the last few innings but sure seems like the Beavs did steal this one.

How about that Mulholland? 5 K’s in the last two single inning appearances!

EDIT: BTW, did anyone have success with the stream link I posted above?

      • Yes. Thanks. Team stole a victory, but did they get a gem in Mulholland. He is one cool customer.
        Comes in and throws strikes.

  30. Ok, I see why St Mary’s is on the schedule. Madrigals twin plays for them. Nick doing him dirty by getting a hit off him and then driving in the game winning run in the 9th.

      • Doesn’t seem like such a dumb move to me, they are in the neighborhood of our upcoming weekend series, won their conference last year, currently lead it (over Portland, Gonzaga, BYU, Loyola M. and others), and made it into the post season last year…..and, they darn near upset the Beavs today.

  31. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2017/03/28/oregon-wanted-mark-few-got-dana-altman-everyone-happy-and-final-four/99740336/

Article about the Ducks going after Few. Shows Kilkenny is a slimy person. He is who we thought he was.

But the gem in the article is this quote “Kilkenny met one Power Five coach — name withheld to protect the oblivious — sometime after midnight after flying into a city. The meeting didn’t last long. The coach wanted to talk money first — and he thought the University of Oregon was located in Corvallis, Ore.”

i’d like to know which coach that was.

    • So many dumb sportwriters…. Can we get one that does his or her homework, if not one who knows hoops?

Even if one wants to conflate the 1939 NABC Championship Tournament with an NCAA championship, the only team eligible for the 10 points for not being to the Final Four since the first Final Four at the beginning of this season was Santa Clara. The first Final Four took place in 1952… at Hec Ed Pavilion.

Therefore, Nikegon deserves another five points since this is their first Final Four ever. That puts their tally at -28.

    • At least this Yahoo writer referenced Altman almost losing his job over his bizarre “plausible denial” during transfer gate. Everything else has been a glowing portrait of the moral Midwesterner. It was starting to remind me of the media’s false narrative with Smilin’ Mike!

Let the down votes begin, you stalking Quack Bastards!

  32. OT, but there’s been some posting here in the past about internet privacy and related issues.

“On Tuesday afternoon, while most people were focused on the latest news from the House Intelligence Committee, the House quietly voted to undo rules that keep internet service providers — the companies like Comcast, Verizon and Charter that you pay for online access — from selling your personal information.

The Senate already approved the bill, on a party-line vote, last week, which means that in the coming days President Trump will be able to sign legislation that will strike a significant blow against online privacy protection.

The bill not only gives cable companies and wireless providers free rein to do what they like with your browsing history, shopping habits, your location and other information gleaned from your online activity, but it would also prevent the Federal Communications Commission from ever again establishing similar consumer privacy protections.

The bill is an effort by the F.C.C.’s new Republican majority and congressional Republicans to overturn a simple but vitally important concept — namely that the information that goes over a network belongs to you as the consumer, not to the network hired to carry it.”

Important to try and watch the whole field of the (any) administration, not just the headlines.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/29/opinion/how-the-republicans-sold-your-privacy-to-internet-providers.html?action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=opinion-c-col-right-region&region=opinion-c-col-right-region&WT.nav=opinion-c-col-right-region&_r=0

      • Yep, but they can’t be trusted, either. Many sell your data or log, despite saying they don’t. The best thing to do is setup a VPN server in your own home. Tor is a cheap, albeit, slow solution.

It was a matter of time before big cable ruined the internet. Soon they will require social security numbers that are linked to an IP in order to log in.

        • It’s what people voted for. They won, as they are wont to say when asked why they do as they do. This is what deregulation looks like… always has, always will. Look at who Trump placed at the FCC. What did you think would happen?

The US people elected a crony government. Get used to it.

          • OTOH:

…in his final days in office, Obama created the largest ever expansion of access to non-minimized NSA intercepts, creating a path for all U.S. intelligence to gain access to unmasked reports by changes encoded in a Reagan-era Executive Order 12333.

The ACLU, an ally of Obama on many issues, issued a statement a few months ago warning that the president’s loosened procedures governing who could request or see unmasked American intercepts by the NSA were “grossly inadequate” and lacked “appropriate safeguards.”

Seems to me both sides of the political aisle have moved things in a questionable direction.

            http://circa.com/politics/barack-obama-changed-how-nsa-intercepts-of-americans-like-donald-trump-could-be-shared

          • Crony Lite doesn’t excuse Crony Orange Vanilla Oatmeal Stout.

And the irony of the whole stupid Russia thing is that they were caught up in eavesdropping brought about by the original PATRIOT Act.

            How dumb is this country?

Also don’t forget Obama was targeting assassinations with specialized munitions and catching flack because he bombed the occasional wedding or something. Now we’re just telling citizens to shelter in place then dropping heavy munitions on their houses to take out the one ISIS sniper on their roofs.

So much for the war weary candidate who was elected… suckers.

        • So what is going to be the best solution? Physical mail is subject to theft…but this kind of news makes me feel like getting off-line until privacy protection is restored.

I don’t understand how it is possible to “prevent the Federal Communications Commission from ever again establishing similar consumer privacy protections.” Couldn’t future new law(s) reestablish and/or improve consumer privacy protections?

          • Those regulations are onerous, impede the market and will never lead to cartelization… ever.

Now, if you would like to give us all your personal information, we’ll give you a discount on your food.

    • None of this really matters. Even if your junk was protected from the US government, it isn’t protected from the Chinese or the Russians. Hell, those guys are probably getting paid by those Identity Theft companies to scare people into buying their services. This will be the least of our worries when robots get tired of us telling them what to do. Might as well go dig a bunker and hunker down until after the Nuclear holocaust, then you can start over.

  33. OT: Rodent Bowl Corvegas look ahead. Golden Rodents have five, yes five O linemen available for spring ball. Five others had surgery after the season and two others are being held out rehabbing injuries. Beavs not alone in having O line issues.

  34. Wow, I actually think drew eubanks might be dumb enough to go pro. Even though he doesn’t sniff tops in the PAC 12 conference, let alone the country. Good luck with that!

  35. Apparently Eubanks is planning to get drafted this year, or at least that is his goal, according to O-live.
Now he’s on a twitter rant telling his critics to pound sand. Nit sure who he’s so mad at.
Also, his girlfriend is hot. Being a near 7 foot athlete has it’s perks.

    • Dudes a head case haha. Might want to take a Chinese class this upcoming term because that’s where his career is headed.

      • IMO if they leave now they’ll be like Eric Moreland…never heard from again. He was recommended to spend another year in Corvallis…

        • Moreland did alright, made over a million and was developed under the wings of a NBA team for 2 years. Don’t think an extra year at OSU would have helped him. Of course he had NBA length to go with athleticism. Eubanks size is not great.

    • I dont think it will be brick. They oainted everything white and I think that’s how it will stay. The front side of the building still has a long way to go before it’s finished. Maybe after that they’ll revisit the color scheme. Hope that if they decide to go brick, they use the real stuff and dont go with that pre-fab faux brick i see going up all around portland
      Could be wrong

  36. If I were Drew my decision would be based on how much I believe in myself. If he thinks he can develop a better feel for the game, make defensive rotations quicker, add some strength and develop a jumper he should stick around for another year and try to get in the first round. If he thinks he will stagnate next year and not really grow his game then he should go pro. As it is now he is still a project and a bit of an unknown. Teams sometimes take risks on guys that are raw but have NBA athleticism. I mean Cunningham timed his exist perfectly and made over $3 million in the process.

  37. We got the worst of all worlds. High star recruits who were two and done yet made no impact on the program. Actually made us worse because now that they’re leaving MBB will be in shambles.

  38. This comment in the O-live article sounds plausible. Who knows though.

“All is not rosey within the program… Jaquori is currently considering to transfer. Parents are encouraging him to but he’s got others in his ear encouraging him to stay. I won’t be surprised if we hear he’s leaving in the weeks ahead. Also heard half the team is 420 lazy and the other half is extremely committed to basketball and school. Unfortunately, the lazy half is messing up the culture and things are unraveling… thus ST and Drew exploring their options in NBA. If I had to bet, ST is coming back, Drew is gone, and Jaquori transfers.”

  39. Jaquori transfers after basically being given the keys to a PAC 12 team at point guard? Doesn’t make much sense to me at all.

    • yeah probably not, it was just some random commenter on O-live so take it for what it is worth. The part about half the team being bums sounds about right though.

      • My take on it is tinkle completely wiffed on juco recruits and then injuries did the rest this season. Whether they’re lazy or not next year will be a complete 180 with tres and Stephen fully healthy and this incoming recruiting class. The lazy ones will be weeded out if they haven’t already.

        • That’s ideal, but is it realistic? Little Tink Tink has glass bones, the recruits who aren’t related to staff have generally underperformed, we really don’t have any seniority/leadership on the team.

  40. I commented earlier that it seemed odd that STj and Eubanks would declare and I kind of got shot down by some that it was for “the experience”. I think there is something off with the program right now. Especially with WT and Eubanks not being on the same page with Eubank’s Dad’s comment today about making it into the NBA in 2017. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out, I don’t have a good feeling about it.
