I’m sharing this email verbatim, per the request of the author.
I would be grateful if you will post the following info, and you are free to use my name.
This month a new damaging falsehood is flooding the media, sports blogs, and reader comments: Luke Heimlich’s 7-page handwritten confession.
The disgusting media are too lazy to do a simple Google search before they commit libel. Kindly provide your readers with the following link to the standard guilty plea forms for Washington State Courts.
Washington State Courts – Court Forms – Guilty Plea
See Form JuCR 7.7 Statement on Plea of Guilty. That’s the form used in Juvenile Court. You can download it by clicking on the Microsoft Word symbol in that row.
The BLANK FORM is 7 pages long, people! Item 16 on page 6 is where the accused writes an admission of guilt when the judge demands it.
Now go back and check the original Oregonian story from June 2017: “The guilty plea eliminated any need for ‘further interviews of the victim or her testimony at trial,’ prosecutors wrote. Heimlich acknowledged guilt in his own handwriting. ‘I admit that I had sexual contact’ with the girl, Heimlich wrote.”
His whole (coerced) confession was only SEVEN WORDS long. In fact, it was so short, the Oregonian felt compelled to sneakily lengthen it to ten words.
The beginning of the end for the televised Army-McCarthy hearings came on June 9, 1954, when the Army lawyer reached the end of his rope and said this to McCarthy:
“Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator. You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”
In 1954, there were enough decent people in government and media to finally bring McCarthy’s inquisition to an end. From Wikipedia: “On December 2, 1954, the Senate voted 67-22 to censure McCarthy, effectively eradicating his influence…”
Tragically, Luke’s case has demonstrated that the media today have no sense of decency.
First.
When did Luke become a communist?
*Communist
There’s a huge difference.
I wonder if anything could be gained by the author sending an op-ed piece to The Oregonian? No guarantee they would publish it, but maybe worth a try? Unfortunately, I feel like the damage was done and Heimlich’s future was sealed last year. I don’t think any possible wrongs are going to be righted unless the ex-wife comes out and says it was a fabrication.
The general public doesn’t want to think about the nuances of juvenile crime and rehabilitation. They want it simple and sensationalized. “Star baseball player is a sick pervert” or “Bitter ex-wife made up a sex abuse story that has caused a star baseball player millions”. Right now the first attention grabber is winning.
Someone on the Facebook pure-orange group posted this bleacher report article on Luke today in regards to fan feedback. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2781313
The one quote where the mother feels, “I want his baseball career to end so this can be done with.” Is very telling two fold. 1) she should have thought of that before wanting this story run by the Oregonian in the first place. 2) she wanted Luke’s baseball career to just end in college. She didn’t want him to play pro ball and New the media would make sure to not let him be a major league ball player.
She wants him out of baseball because if he becomes a millionaire she’ll never get custody. The fact she moved so far away from her daughter and the court didn’t grant her custody says everything I need to know about her. And yes, if she truly wanted it over with for the sake of her kid she wouldn’t bring it up in the media. I see clearly what is going on here, and it stinks.
The mother’s quote makes no sense at all; any more than ” she doesn’t remember. ” Any more than Moran’s investigative journalism. Why is Goe in Omaha? It occurs to me he’ll take cheap shots – some subtle, some not so much.
The author did send a piece to the Oregonian.
Regarding mckalk’s comment, you can tell him I did send an op-ed piece to the Oregonian. I wrote 500 words per their guidelines and emailed it to commentary@oregonian.com. When they didn’t publish it, I sent it to angrybeavs. That was the first installment you posted for me: What I See in the Luke Heimlich Story.
So there you go. They ignored this side of the story.
I’m not surprised. Interesting that they published the lawyer who called out Canzano’s naive interpretation of MLB’s shun of Heimlich.
Kudos to her for sending it to them! Cowards!
This might be my favorite Tweet of all time.

God I love that movie…
I posted this in the Part 2 Heimlich story, but feel more will read it here:
I should mention that I went to the autograph session for the Beavs this morning, and I missed the cutoff by 1 minute of wait time, but as I was walking along the signing table, a dad with two girls about 10 or so, stopped in front of Luke Heimlich and the girls turned to their dad and the dad snapped a photo with luke and his girls. This just shows that there is support for Luke out there. It sent a powerful message to me with having a little girl of my own. Luke just smiled and was polite as could be. I also gave him a, “Good Luck tomorrow Luke!” as there was a lull in the signings. It was more of a, good luck in the game, and with the fans.
Trump does it again?! WOW perfect timing!
Go Beavs!
Can’t seem to get Brenda Tracy out of the middle of all this….
http://www.espn.com/college-sports/baseball/story/_/id/23803028/oregon-state-pitcher-luke-heimlich-not-worried-fans-college-world-series
Luke seems to have handled it well. Unless I missed it I didn’t see any mention of his record being sealed.
Is there some Brenda Tracy robot out there who the media call on for her one size fits all comments?
She was never a student at OSU, and her plea is ancillary.
I am happy that Riley is back and Trump is President. God is Great.
Good one! You were kidding, right?
I didn’t know you were Muslim.
Good to know.
I hope the Oregonian along with all the other clickbait fake news newspapers who spread false information about Luke get their asses sued. So many people have fell to their bait.
And the local media continues…
http://www.omaha.com/sports/cws/shatel-innocence-of-cws-tested-when-oregon-state-s-luke/article_815cefcc-9b43-585e-b338-fad68ae54ba1.html
I don’t think “the victim” (and I’m assuming Shatel means the young girl) has ever said anything public, correct? In fact, I think the mother was quoted saying the girl does not remember it or much of it.
“The victim and her family maintain that it did happen”.
Wouldn’t it be more accurate to say, the non-custodial ex-wife of Heimlich’s older brother was interviewed by The Oregonian and said it happened.
And the “innocence of the CWS”…..give me a freaking break. One would think Shatel was talking about the LLWS. I guess it’s been a 100% parade of saints playing and coaching since 1950!
More sensationalized crap to get clicks or sell papers.
“Nebraska Nice”.
OT. Saw this on Yahoo! And thought it was funny
Jordan Bell certainly had fun at the Warriors’ championship parade on Tuesday.
In fact, he may have even been the MVP.
On Thursday night, Andre Iguodala offered his thoughts on Bell’s performance.
“I told him to stop doing that stupid stuff, but he’s a rookie,” the 2015 Finals MVP said on KNBR 680. “He enjoyed himself. It was his first time.”
Iguodala then took a shot at that college in Eugene.
“And obviously at Oregon, they don’t teach guys certain things. The Oregon guys aren’t used to being professional basketball players.
“Arizona, we just have a plethora of alumni who played professional basketball. We know how to enjoy success. You gotta give Jordan a pass.”
What did he do?
Sounds like temps in the upper 90’s & 20+ mph winds throughout today’s game. Could make for some unpredictable fly balls. Wind appears to be blowing out towards left field
Game day… finally. Sick of all the LH talk… stopped reading it weeks ago. Get it done between the lines, enjoy the experience. JB
