this is going to be unpleasant to watch regardless of outcome. could be a W though with moreland back and a chance to get a litte run started with the washington schools at home next weekend. from what i’ve seen, they both pretty much suck. i worry though about that 7 footer dedmon blocking like ten joe burton hook shots. go beavs though woot woot.
USC misses their shot with about 1.5 remaining, then Burton fails to box out his man and he dunks it back in.
Classic Joe.
at some point in the near future I am going to create a fire craig robinson page on facebook. I will link it here when its completed.
as long as CR’s bro in law doesn’t take my guns!!!! I gotta have some way to off myself after another year of no tournament
These guys are playing like a bunch of sour pusses. What a pathetic mopey way to go into an Inauguration. The players have had horrible dejected energy the whole game, like no matter whatever shots they may make they still completely expect to lose. That’s horrible leadership by Robinson to let these players have shrugged shoulders like this so far in each and every one of their conference losses. Robinson probably will aschew the vibrant orange and black colored scarf for Monday’s big event. He looks like a joke right now clinging to some nice coattails and the easiest contract extensions west of the Mississippi. Can’t believe that this piss poor quality is all that Robinson’s connections can get OSU.
Not only do we suck but we’re boring as hell. Our offense is pass around the perimeter for 25 seconds then throw the ball at the rim or commit a turnover. It’s time to make this shit interesting. Give everyone the greenlight from everywhere. I want a run and gun, 7 seconds or less, 3 pt barrage, zero defense mentality. We’re already halfway there so why not complete the deal. Who gives a fuck when we lose 150-65 if we’re jacking up 80 3-pointers a game. Maybe Joe Burton could make a cameo at the end and throw some lob passes over the backboard. Craig can still continue his substitution pattern of taking a guy out every 10 seconds so everyone stays fresh in this fast paced offense. Hell, we could even leave a guy standing under the opponents basket waiting for a hail mary pass after every possession. Anything is better then this pick-up game crap that’s going on right now.
Wow. This is a bad team. Gophs beat these guys by 14 on a one day fly out game earlier this year.
Jays John’s perfect season may be in jeopardy.
has Collier EVER passed it when he gets it in the lane? ever? even if double/triple teamed he still shoots.
You simply can’t have Joe Burton inbounding the ball protecting a one point lead. That’s a big mistake on Robinson’s part. He makes horrible decisions and everyone knew what was going to happen. Moreland on final defensive possession should have been contesting, instead tried to take a charge and gave up an uncontested layup. Great. OSU just finds ways to lose games.
WOW! Brilliant play call and execution for the last shot!!!
Why do I even give half a shit about this team. Who the fuck are we going to beat this year? Utah? I’m sure that will be an amazing game.
I decided to turn it on when the beavs cut the lead to 6 in the 2nd half and was rewarded by seeing them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. This team just finds ways to lose. Awesome job guys, so proud of you. Played with my emotions and tortured again. Like a junky in need of a fix I just can’t stay away.
What are you talking about? OSU swept Oregon in baseball last season, unless you mean two years ago. I think Angry should start putting the heat on Robinson like he did with Riley about his playcalling/recruiting. Riley is still a work in progress, but he’s improving, despite keeping Lamesdork on staff, while Robinson seems to have declined.
Face it folks, OSU can’t afford to pay Robinson off, so he’s here to stay. As for the assistants, that’s another story.
Women’s team not looking all that great – ok but nothing special. It’s a BDC curse (or an OSU curse, depending on your viewpoint) – everyone gets excited about a team, BDC extends the coach’s contract and . . . fizzle . . . and, as for that dumb OSU game blurb.
Rueck had some hard luck early in the year losing Sage Indendi, but they’ve come along and are improving. He is a good X’s and O’s guy that emphasizes defense. Nice man too.
Mike Riley is a nice man, Craig Robinson is a nice man (Ernie Kent said so), Scott Rueck is a nice man; for all I know every person in the OSU Athletics department is nice – not knocking niceness and not to say that being a good coach cannot incorporate niceness but could we have someone who’s not-so-nice shake things up a little?
Just got back from the coast with a haul of Dungeness that I’m going to have to give away about half within the next two months… unless I eat them like I have the last two days.
Ugh! I can feel my arteries turning into cholesterol.
I’ve only seen a couple replays from yesterday’s game, and I have to wonder why Moreland was in the game at the end. Yes, he was the fifth option on an inbounds, and he ran it to perfection… except he didn’t catch the ball. I know, it hit him in a tough spot… the hands.
But what’s going to happen when USC fouls him to stop the clock?
Moreland shooting FT’s with a one point lead?
Hung out at Three Rivers last night, and someone told me UCLA shot the ball against the Ducks in the second half like they were the Beavs. That was nice. I was also told by Duck fan that the Beavs were jobbed by the refs all game until about 8 minutes left.
I don’t think I want to see the replay. Maybe I’ll save it for a bad day so I won’t make a good day worse.
Are you talking about the guy from Stanford. He took the Colts’ OC job. Chance to work with Andrew Luck, NFL, no probation. Think he made a smart move there! I think it was cut and dry that Helfrich was going to get the job.
BDC HAS GOT TO GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST IN THE BUSINESS and OSU will continue to be almost completely irrelevant every second this toad stays at Oregon State. HE HAS ABSOLUTELY GOT TO GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soemeone pleare start a FIRE BDC sebsite or campaign. It’s OSU’s only chance to get out if this pile of **** he has us in. Gill is getting emptier and emptier because BDC hasn’t got a clue about what the younger generations want. He is a dinosaur who should have been let go 4 or 5 years ago. Why the hell do we still have this guy?
I’ve been following this guy for awhile, but if CR were to leave on his own or other, here is a guy that OSU might want to ask. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Cluess
I’ll run down a list I always keep in the back of my mind whenever anyone is doing a search… like USC is now, I guess.
High majors:
Jamie Dixon, Jay Wright, Buzz Williams
Mid-majors:
Larry Eustachy, Gregg Marshall, Tommy Amaker, Randy Rahe, Shaka Smart
Up and coming or assistants or miscellaneous:
Chris Collins, Michael White
You have to really open the checkbook to get most of these guys though.
Wichita St is a good program too, but need to look all over. I’m sticking with CR for one more year, but if things are this bad next year, I know I’m going to have to move on.
Probably the same here. I’m giving a pass for this year because of circumstance. But coaches are victim to circumstance because it’s their program. If the depth isn’t in place, it’s still on the coach. Same logic that applies to Riley applies to CR.
As much as CR has brought a lot of alums back into the fold and convinced them to force OSU to make investments in hoops once again, that success may be his downfall. They are promised a product to match their investments. And while they appreciate the effort and laying of a foundation for success, i think a lot of them are looking at next year as the bellwether of CR’s future.
I’m really glad Angry started the petition to fire BDC as I think his dismissal would be beneficial for all the coaches. I knew this guy was an idiot from the time he stated at a public gathering that he wanted a $3 million dollar boat house for the crew team.
I like CR and I think this job is more valuable now than what it was when he took over from Jay “Dumb-ass” John, but I think people underestimate Angus’s ability and the value he gave to this team. He was really coming along and then when he went down, so did the season. I don’t miss Cunningham as much, but losing Angus hurt.
If CR could scrap the Princeton and run a motion, since he wants to play up-tempo, he should go for it. There are so many variations of motion and with a talented staff that has experience and expertise in the motion offense, he would do well. The defense needs to improve greatly as well, as I have stated before. I do believe staff changes will happen this spring though and that will be interesting.
I do have a question about one of the recruits, Hallice Cooke. He’s a Bob Hurley product, ala Devon Collier at St. Anthony’s, but is he a shooting guard/pt guard? I think Hurley is the best high school coach in America, so I value his opinion more than others. I don’t know if CR has the guts to do it, but I would like to see Starks get pushed for playing time next year. Is Cooke capable of doing this?
Hurley said before the season that Cooke would be playing PG out of necessity since Anderson moved on to UCLA. But he also said Hallice has the tools and smarts to do so. And he’s pretty done so this year.
Cooke is a dead-eye, a sharp shooter. As a SG, he could take over a game with one of those patented second half trey barrages we’ve seen other teams do to the Beavs too often. But he can also get to the rim and finish when his team really needs a bucket. If I had to compare him to just one player, I would say he’s a tall Steve Kerr (yes, he shoots that well).
I see we don’t like rowing? I guess it’s good that the crew alums fund their own sport and replaced a structure that was not only poor in function but was bordering on dangerous. But at least we have one sport at OSU that sends athletes to the Olympics.
I think if crew has the ability to raise it, then go ahead, but BDC thinks he could get it done with his talents, but based on his efforts in the past I doubt it.
BDC doesn’t do the heavy lifting. He makes checklists for the coaches who want something, and when they reach those marks he makes the finances work. These aren’t his visions. But he can still like/support his coaches’ visions.
I think he’s fine for what he does. I also think we pay too much for what he does. And APR and GSR should also be highlighted as areas that he doesn’t really do as well as his pay suggests.
Bobby D is simply a really good bean counter.
