I’m watching a little SJSU @ oregon. Honestly, this oregon offense does not look impressive. Oregon State looks more coordinated on offense. They don’t seem to know what they want to do, but occasionally pop a big play because they’re playing quite possibly the worst G5 team in the country. They do have some athletes on defense who should keep them in games.
14-3 Oregon in the 2nd(the 3 could easily be 7 for SJSU, but Pac12 refs wont call the blatant redzone PI call in the redzone)
Here I was thinking all day this game would be at 5:00pst, but it’s actually at 4:00pst. Hopefully the rest of you paid more attention than I did. Almost game time!
In fairness, Blount was mostly throwing to open guys. Whiffed on the fade route in the end zone. But agree he definitely looks much better than what we’ve seen in a while.
This is looking like it will be a shootout. Need our defense to wake up here on the second drive and also our Oline to get some blocks to open up our run game.
Is Tibesar in over his head or do we just have really shitty players on that side of the ball? So far this defense isn’t any improvement over last years shit show.
Not to go full excuse mode, but our already bad DLine lost it’s best DLineman, plus has a severely overweight Elu Aydun.
Add the losses of Morris, Irvine, Ah-Hoy, Dunn, Katoa and transfer of Xavier Crawford, and I don’t think we could expect an improvement. Of course the bar was pretty low though….so it’s still disappointing so far.
Losing Crawford was huge. Outside of Nall/Pierce I think he was the most talented player on the roster last year.
We also lost Ugwoebo, Nall, and Tyner (inadvisable early NFL declaration = loss). Luckily we seem to have reloaded at RB in a big way, but our LB core could certainly use U.
What did I write the other day? Ball control offense, keep their offense (and our horrible defense) off the field. Not that hard to figure out this is the only way they are going to stay in games.
This is the first full game I’ve had a chance to watch due to family being in town, etc.
From bits I saw of the other games, agree, we looked like a better coached team than last year. This is a huge disappointment. Need to get that elusive road win as a step toward changing the program, and instead of that we’re getting blownout by a Mountain West team. Guess we should have all seen this coming given we have no depth, a walk-on playing QB, and no game changers on D.
Yeah, great job by Smith egging these bozos on. People said it didn’t matter. Clearly they’re fired up and killing us, intent on showing us they are Ohio State.
Is it unreasonable to think kicking tee technology should have advanced to the point where a little wind won’t knock the ball down?
How many years have the tee makers had to work on this?
I was going to turn down the sound but this announcing crew is so bad I am actually finding myself wanting to see what ridiculous comment they will make next.
Throw aside the absurdity of comparing a college QB with the GOAT, with the way college football is now I’d be surprised if we ever see a QB that reminds us of Brady’s style.
As bad as it has looked at times, Beavs are in position to make this a game in the 2nd half(thanks Luton? Or thanks Nevada?).
Too bad we had to give up a TD on the offensive fumble earlier.
I wasn’t gonna ask, but now it seems like a good idea; can you post the stream again? It seems to be missing (or I just can’t find it) on the previous thread here. Tnx
I think the first drive of the second half is going to be key. OL has been disappointing so far, I would like to see them blow some holes open for Jefferson, he’s did a lot on his own in the first half. I don’t know if Luton is better, but he knows how to step up in the pocket. Nevada’s -3-3-5 had Blount freaking out.
Luton hasn’t looked great, but Blount is the reason we’re in this hole. His two turnovers directly led to TDs. His mobility is nice but he gets squirrely under pressure.
Blount’s first drive was nice, but again he was throwing to wide-open receivers. The only throw which wasn’t easy was badly overthrown (fade route to Hodgins). Since that first drive he’s pretty much been a liability.
Our WRs are good, and Luton has the ability to get it to them further downfield than Blount when he’s hot, but he’s a turnover machine if you give him enough of a sample size.
I don’t think they trust his ball security. Had a wide open pass into his hands earlier that he dropped. I want the guy to be successful, but he has to show something positive
Both dropped major gainers with potential for more for no other reason than their hands didn’t work. It had nothing to do with the spin on the ball. It had to do with players missing plays.
Yeah, give him enough and he’ll show what he is. He’s fine as a jump start. Smith should have went back to Blount once he got the good sample from Luton that got them back in the game.
Win or lose yes this team lacks talent at QB and D but they fight hard and the coaching staff seems to be very good at in game adjustments. After watching 3 games I think we have the right guy running the program. I thought the same thing after we won the civil war 2 seasons ago so who knows.
Special teams coaches don’t coach kicking fundamentals. Name one kicker or punter who ever became a special teams coach? Kickers have private coaches similar to swing coaches in golf. Choukair missed that kick, not Cookus.
The play that stood out to me was the recovery of the onside kick attempt by Nevada. It was at an unexpected moment when things were falling apart for Oregon State. I think it was Bodden that recovered it.
Loss not on Choukair. Smith should know what he has (and doesn’t have) in him by now. Can’t play for the FG there. Season trajectory changing loss. Ugh.
Fuck that, that’s a penalty and has to be called. Not making that call is malpractice as a ref. Bullshit to claim otherwise, that’s the textbook definition of Dunn into the kicker
They should have called it. They didn’t. News flash: refs are inconsistent and change calling based on situation. Sucks but that’s how it is. Just make the kick.
Go fuck yourself, calling out refs for missing an obvious call should happen; that has no bearing on anything beyond that but the refs fucked up there, claiming otherwise is bullshit. That was a penalty
Terrible coaching decision. The best players on the team are #22 and #17. At least try to get them the ball then if you have no choice you put it in choke boy’s hands.
Wondering when we can start the new coaching search. I haven’t been a Smith fan from the start. I believe that you can’t teach judgement. Bringing Riley in was a major misstep. Now he pissed away the game. It’s premature to think about letting him go but the writing is on the all to me, not going to work.
It has no bearing on rather he should be kicker or not but it absolutely has a fucking bearing on rather they win or not and that’s what I’m talking about
ANOTHER amazing post! I never stated he shouldn’t be the kicker. Not once. Keep trying though. It’s really cute. Jack’s 100% correct in his post below. If you’re relying on the refs to win, you’re going to lose.
The refs screwed us is your opinion. That’s a loser mentality. You must be a beaver fan. YOU are part of the reason this football program sucks.
Did I write something else where what you wrote makes sense… and then you hacked me and changed my words to say something completely different and weirdly not having anything to do with how you responded?
Everyone remembers Serna at LSU, but this??
How this program has fallen, at least LSU was, what #3 in the nation, and now we’re disappointed by a gut punch loss to Nevada?
Choker’s not some Serna, 3 for 7 on the season.
I’m other words, run into the line twice for no gain since our run game was so dominant tonight. Or the other option, Blount for the sack or tipped ball INT. You guys always call this a terrible team now all of a sudden they’re expected to every single thing wonderfully. Half the starters are freshman.
Half the starters are freshman? Well, Blount isn’t. Nor is Hernandez. Pretty sure that no one on the O line is either. Who are the 6 freshman starters? Please, enlighten us.
I thought maybe just this once we would win a goddamn game! Nevada would lose to every other team in the Pac-12 except for us. We are going to get blasted this year by everybody! Every goddamn year it’s wait until next year, just once I want it to be the year that we’re doing all this waiting for!
We always think we’re getting better but everybody else is too and keeps us stuck at the Bottom Rung of the god damn Pac-12 ladder like we’ve been for a damn decade!
Good points about the D, add to that the Offensive play calling.
Gotta wonder if the ground game will be more like the first two games than today’s “play from behind” show.
We should have run the ball much more than we did. The rotations were willy-nilly at best. Every time I watched Jefferson run off the field, I thought he was primed for a game-breaker.
Well… not every time. It happened enough that a pattern developed.
There were a couple times on 3rd and 5 that a draw (or even the threat of one) would have opened up the field.
Arizona is most definitely not getting better. That’s a decent chance for a win. The flying Herberts from methville have looked vanilla all year so there’s a chance there too.
Every other team is a curb stomping in the making.
Really strange coaching decision/management. You’ve got all the leverage, can control the clock with two timeouts to their none, and you throw all that away and take it backwards and let it all ride on your kicker that just shanked one?
To me it was sort of a NFL type decision by JS but WITHOUT a NFL kicker. 3-7, miss a possible streak ending kick, you need to ride the pines. Next kicker up.
We put our Oline on their heels too much in this game. They overcame late, but they should have been answering Norvel’s punches by tiring their D instead of the poor showing by Blount.
I think it’s safe to point at one of our QBs and say he might be a turnover machine. And he’s exactly who you all say he is.
Screw facts!
I know it’s smart to save Jefferson for the conference schedule. But his rotations were just wrong. He has better legs than everyone out there. Run student body left and right. Take four with the possibility of more.
I refuse to believe the kicker behind Choukair is worse. If by some mystery of the universe he is, just go for it on 4th down instead of attempting field goals.
I’ve never been more convinced that this blog is really about hating Oregon State than I am tonight
It’s possible to believe that the kicker sucks and the refs missed an obvious call and only this blog would decide the refs are fine and all the blame goes to Smith and the kicker.
This blog isn’t about critical dissent; it’s about hating everything OSU does.
Quit whining about the refs and sleep it off dude. They missed the call. They probably missed a bunch of calls. What do you want us to do, write our congressmen? Which was the real issue: one missed call at the end (which still doesn’t mean we win were it made) or the fifty times we shot ourselves in the foot with dropped passes, missed interceptions, and crappy first half defense?
You’re the o e that wants OSU to lose due to obvious incompetence by the officials, not me. I’m always good. Maybe you need to look in the mirror and realize the reality that you really hate OSU and want them to lose.
I don’t blame the refs for the first half when my dead grandma in a wheelchair could’ve ran for 200 yards against the defense. I don’t blame the refs for the piss poor throw that was intercepted in the red zone in the 4th quarter. I don’t blame the refs for Smith not utilizing his final two timeouts and trying to position the Beavs closer for an easier FG for a kicker that obviously has issues between the ears.
If that’s a difficult concept for you to understand, then keep up the loser mentality. This game against a weak sauce Nevada team was easily winnable and should NEVER have come down to relying on one unreliable guy at the end to make or miss.
But you blame the refs for one bad call? and are convinced he’d make it from 5 yards closer? You are a beaver fan. And your left of middle is still a loser mentality.
I am pissed off. I am pissed off that an Oregon St football program gave up 77 points to Ohio St. I am pissed off that an Oregon St football program lost to a team they never should have lost. I am pissed off that OSU fans still support a loser like Mike Riley and welcome him back with open arms. I am pissed off that Oregon St does not take winning in football seriously. I am pissed off that there’s an aging fanbase that accepts it.
Stop being a loser and speak up. You want to see what winners look like that don’t accept losing or mediocrity? See Pat Casey and Scott Rueck.
Oregon St football could be so much more than it is. But we have an administration with a hope and pray attitude and a fan base that accept losing.
People that are perpetually beat down (in anything) either give up and accept it, find a way out of it or develop a victim mentality.
I am not convinced he would have made the kick, I am convinced it should have been called. Accepting the no call indicates to me that you actually prefer being a critic and want the Beavs to fail. Congrats to you for that.
It’s an hour after a tough loss. I don’t like everything on here either but at least this site allows free speech without banning people for not following group think.
They really were the better team out there tonight. And that is a lot different than would have been the case last year. Hindsight is always 20/20. I agree probably should have tried running it a few more times. But if we would have fumbled it or thrown a pick, everyone would have been calling for smiths head for not just kicking. And people keep claiming this kick was “not playing to win”. If he makes it you win. Sure sounds like playing to win to me.
AGREE, running down the clock and going for a FG was playing to win.
DISAGREE, not everyone would have called for Smith’s head if he used his TO’s and downs before kicking; many already (justifiably) had absolutely no confidence in Choker.
I think JS has to have the mindset that Choukair is not reliable, I don’t think he had that in this game. Maybe next week against Arizona? I mean in this day and age going 3-7 through the first three games is youth football numbers!
Exactly. This is something between a 1 win and a 4 win team. This loss didn’t cost us a bowl berth. We have a half finished stadium with an administration and fan base that are halfway invested in the program. Unfortunately, I don’t Canzano’s number or I’d be sending him drunk texts complaining about the situation at OSU just like Gary did.
I’m not down. Team should have won a road game against Nevada and nearly did. It’s about where we expect them to be right now. Pierce and Bradford being out makes the offense much different, considering they were our 2 main weapons up to this point.
Would have liked to see 1 or 2 endzone shots in the last 30 seconds to Hodgins, who didn’t seem capable of dropping a catch, so that was a blown oppotunity, but I dont think the team gets worse as a result of this loss and they will bounce back next week.
Not to mention that in a 2 minute scenario Luton would have been the preferred option over Blount. Pierce, Bradford and a healthy Luton would have made a difference in the game management that last 3 minutes.
Enjoy focusing on one thing contributing to the loss that was out of the team’s control and practically ignoring the dozens of others that were in their control. When things suck, blame someone else!
First
Eat my dust and……Go Beavs!

Second!
Rough few months for Arkansas.
https://twitter.com/bubbaprog/status/1041062691182395392
Same with Nebraska. Jesus is 0-2….
This fake punt by North Texas against Arkansas was kinda funny:
https://thesportsdaily.com/2018/09/15/watch-north-texas-punt-returner-fools-everyone-on-fake-fair-catch-for-td/
Slick Willie falls again. Canzano thought that guy was the answer. Lol
Man, I was really looking forward to that being Oregon.
I’m watching a little SJSU @ oregon. Honestly, this oregon offense does not look impressive. Oregon State looks more coordinated on offense. They don’t seem to know what they want to do, but occasionally pop a big play because they’re playing quite possibly the worst G5 team in the country. 14-3 Oregon in the 2nd(the 3 could easily be 7 for SJSU, but Pac12 refs wont call the blatant redzone PI call in the redzone)
SJSU’s quarterback is atrocious.
But he is changing the culture….
Glad The Beavs don’t schedule North Texas any longer. They are beating Arkansas 34-10 at halftime and it could be worse.
Sitake gets a signature win, BYU beat Wisky at Camp Randall.
Good for the mushroom. Seems like a funguy, glad he didn’t go down with Anderpants.
Crowd in Minnesota chanting BYU as they showed our hated rival lose on the Jumbotron!
Who has the best stream?
Mine’s good when I’m hydrated…but best? I dunno….
Why? Seems like an odd question…
FWIW, the stream I linked in the prior thread is working fine, just use caution to avoid downloading anything funky and close any popups.
Here I was thinking all day this game would be at 5:00pst, but it’s actually at 4:00pst. Hopefully the rest of you paid more attention than I did. Almost game time!
Bradford out today per nick daschel
Looks like low 70s for kickoff. We got lucky there.
Defense already sucks
They’ve sucked for 3 years. Can’t stop anyone
Man, this is hard to watch….I think the only play in the drive where they didn’t pick up 8+ was where their receiver dropped a pass
We win the toss and defer on the road. Why?
Smith overthinking things…
Statistics show it’s better to defer. Kicking with the wind in the 2nd half is the only actual advantage to the coin flip.
Not a good sign when an “air raid” offense runs it down your throat on the first drive
they wildcated their way down the field
Nice drive by the offense.
Can’t believe they were considering Luton. Blount is obviously better.
lol
Blount is so good.
Then the Beavers Dink their way down the field
Well our offense already looks good
In fairness, Blount was mostly throwing to open guys. Whiffed on the fade route in the end zone. But agree he definitely looks much better than what we’ve seen in a while.
This OSU defense has got be the worst in school history!! WOW
This is looking like it will be a shootout. Need our defense to wake up here on the second drive and also our Oline to get some blocks to open up our run game.
Would you settle for the 3rd drive?
If nothing else Blount can actually hit guys who are open
Omg a tfl
We hired Tim Tibanker
Wilson getting beat like he owes them money.
does a field goal count as a stop?
Today it does!
No. The stop was because they hiked the ball past the q b.
Not when a bad snap and an unnecessary penalty is what stalled the drive. I’d say Nevada stopped themselves.
Man, just wait till we play a real air raid, haha. WSU is going to set records on us
When you give up 77 points, can’t stop Nevada or Southern Utah (at times) it doesn’t bode well for conference play. These guys are trend setters
Is Tibesar in over his head or do we just have really shitty players on that side of the ball? So far this defense isn’t any improvement over last years shit show.
Main issue is zero D1-caliber Dlinemen on the roster. And poor depth on top of that.
I think it’s mostly lack of talent. Talent wasn’t great last year, and injuries and transfers were brutal.
The D is awful because they lack talent/players.
Those transfers will help, but we need even more work there. Offense is okay but also needs work.
Uh oh. Blount showing why he’s a walk on with that throw.
Nevada scores, D looks worn out.
Game over?
Should have thrown to the further guy. He was wide open.
Terrible decision.
Sounds like we have Tracy Morgan in the press box tonight
I don’t think Tracy Morgan knows Sammie Sideline.
I’ve seen enough pygmy Flemings.
Yikes. We’re going to get blowout by Nevada.
I take back that 4 win possible talk.
Going to dinner before I get a sour stomach. Unbelievable. We aren’t even at Mountain West caliber.
The first 2 games we looked like a well coach, well prepared team that was just lacking talent on D. So far today is a major step backwards.
Most reversion to 2017 habits we’ve seen this season, gotta love the floppy beaver-tail arm tackle technique.
Falling apart in every phase.
That was a stupid bounce.
The Return (of last year’s crappy football)
we’re better than this. We haven’t shown up today
If we don’t show up, we’re not better.
We have the worst defense in NCAA history
Yikes
Wow…lol
Over/Under on Nevada points @ 77.. What are you are you taking?
Our O-line is getting smoked
Well, Nevada isn’t Ohio State. Even Ohio State wasn’t pummeling us this bad.
Yeah, great job by Smith egging these bozos on. People said it didn’t matter. Clearly they’re fired up and killing us, intent on showing us they are Ohio State.
My gosh, we are NOT good today.
Gonna be a brutal season if we do this all year…
Wow and here we go with qb shitshow round 2
Blount is so good. I don’t know how they didn’t see he was so much better than Luton.
Ugh. Luton in. Ugh…immediately offense looks out of sync. Jake throwing 100mph off WRs’ hands. Awesome arm, though! And he’s tall.
Can Gebbia get the same transfer waiver Kipper got? Today?
Luton is a better punter than QB
We found our new punter!
If Nevada drives 97 yards to score here we’re a one win team this season
We have the worst defense in NCAA history
We might by season’s end. What’s the record for yardage/points by a D1 team?
Huge stop! Two wins still in play
#90 looking like Khalil Mack against our team.
Well we got a defensive stop finally
When I learned Gebbia was transferring I was happier and more excited for next year than I have been for any moment about this year.
This year is going to be one to throw down the memory hole. A complete waste.
Just what I was afraid of, but not too surprised.
The only hope for this game is Smith finally gets over his Luton boner.
LOL beavers you guys f’ing suck! Hoooolly shit!!!!!!
No shit, Sherlock.
WTF was that Luton QB dive play
Luton takes the snap, immediately falls to the ground.
Announcer “It looked like a play action”…
In what universe does that look like play action?
Good to see Kolby Taylor not only get into the game, but immediately make a great play. With Bradford out he has a great opportunity
Well, I’ve been pretty excited to see AP and JJ as well as Bradford do well. But that’s about it.
I want to know how the announcer knows that Luton “meant” to underthrow that ball.. Maybe it was just wildly inaccurate but it worked out?!
They also knew Luton falling to the ground was play action.
That new kickoff/fair catch rule sucks. NFL and NCAA looking more and more like Arena League every year.
First 5,000 fans at Reser next week forced to drink five Bud Lights.
Pettibone bobble head night.
More apt to say Avezzano. He bought me more than one on many occasions.
Is it unreasonable to think kicking tee technology should have advanced to the point where a little wind won’t knock the ball down?
How many years have the tee makers had to work on this?
Put a Beaver on it.
And another long ball overthrow by Luton. Shocker.
Regardless Hernandez should have had that.
another overthrow, much arm such gun
Beavs greasing up the gloves with Vaseline? Beaver juice?
Luton is playing better than Blount … IDK what you guys are talking about.
He has huge flaws and I assume Gebbia will easily be better, but not worse than Blount. That’s just the narrative here.
They both suck, so one sucky guy will look better than the other sucky guy at times.
Did this announcer just say Luton is Tom Brady-like?
HAHAHAHAHA
I was going to turn down the sound but this announcing crew is so bad I am actually finding myself wanting to see what ridiculous comment they will make next.
Throw aside the absurdity of comparing a college QB with the GOAT, with the way college football is now I’d be surprised if we ever see a QB that reminds us of Brady’s style.
His balls are deflated…
Wow, generous spot. They have to review this
The first 20 minutes were looking pretty bad, but the last 10 we’ve clearly been the better team. If that keeps up, we’ll win this game.
…In spite of Luton and his “Arm” lol
Luton is playing excellent
Luton looks decent (today). Not buying it long term, but I’ll take it.
We are IN THIS!
We have been far superior in the last 10 minutes. If we play anywhere near this level in the 2nd half we’re gonna win!!!
Props to the offensive line for giving Luton some time, and thank god Luton only overthrew like 1 receiver on that drive.
ok feed me some crow that was not a bad throw
As bad as it has looked at times, Beavs are in position to make this a game in the 2nd half(thanks Luton? Or thanks Nevada?).
Too bad we had to give up a TD on the offensive fumble earlier.
I wasn’t gonna ask, but now it seems like a good idea; can you post the stream again? It seems to be missing (or I just can’t find it) on the previous thread here. Tnx
We have more yards than Nevada.
Announcers just called Hodgins, a 4-star recruit with a huge offer sheet, a “diamond in the rough.”
This crew is comedy gold.
Fair to say the 2017 Beaver football team could be considered “the rough.”
Wow, I did not expect us to make this a ball game. Team has huge flaws but I’m pretty happy with this coming from the GA era
Nevada D shot their wad early; we’ll see how long their refractory period is.
Winning post of the day!
Since that first drive he’s pretty much been a liability.
pick yes, fumble no….offensive line….
Our WRs are good, and Luton has the ability to get it to them further downfield than Blount when he’s hot, but he’s a turnover machine if you give him enough of a sample size.
Penalties: OSU 1:5, Nevada 4:55
Followed immediately by 3 consecutive offensive Beaver penalties
Bad drops, but I wouldent want to be tasked with bringing in some of Lutons knuckleballs.
All day to throw…takes sack.
TV just caught a throwback Riley gum chompin money shot.
It would be nice to see Irish more aggressive on the punt returns. He has game changing speed.
Wallace is fast. Get him more touches.
I don’t think they trust his ball security. Had a wide open pass into his hands earlier that he dropped. I want the guy to be successful, but he has to show something positive
that was kolby Taylor.
… also.
Both dropped major gainers with potential for more for no other reason than their hands didn’t work. It had nothing to do with the spin on the ball. It had to do with players missing plays.
A nice throw, followed by the massive sack. Great work, line!
Why can’t we run to the outside? We have guys with somewhat elite speed and I haven’t seen them test the outside?
Think Luton used up his good sample size.
Might be time to change back to Blount.
So many penalties and unforced errors. Haven’t coached that out of them.
Those were the halftime adjustments
Can’t imagine Aydon fallling on me.
Did they have to peel that qb off the turf?
Looking at stat play-by/play, D playing better now, O in neutral(?) .i
Allowed only 3 first downs (+1 by penalty) since giving up 9 in first qtr
WTF is all the shit blowing though the stadium? Is it next to a landfill?
well, reno…
Haha
It was confetti that they blasted all over the stadium whenever the pack did something good. Most places of the country they just call it a litter.
What happened to Blount?
benched after strip sack returned for TD and INT
Thx.
Tossed an int and fumbled.
So basically benched for being Luton
Luton is delivering those timing, midrange passes pretty well.
Unfortunately, those deep passes where his arm strength would matter are all off.
I swear, we can’t help but kill our own momentum
Turnover ChainSaw. How did we not see that one coming?
Too funny. Wish they had encrusted it with gold and jewels
Luton pulls a Luton
What was I saying about Luton and sample size?
Yeah, give him enough and he’ll show what he is. He’s fine as a jump start. Smith should have went back to Blount once he got the good sample from Luton that got them back in the game.
almost impossible to win if you’re -3 in turnover margin
We’ve dropped so many picks today…
…I jinxed him, my bad.
It’s plainfully obvious we don’t have a Pac-12 QB on this roster. If we did we win by 2 TDs.
And if there was a Pac12 quality safety or Dback they’d have 4 picks.
Checkmate
Nice to see Taylor with a mini break out. Been high on him
Kid’s a stud. He just needs some play time to get his feet under him.
Announcer says “Freshman hit a wall this time of year”
The middle of game 3 they hit a wall? Really…
I think the announcer hit a wall…………multiple times with his head.
Remember, Eggers called for a Beavs win on a last second FG.
I’d rather hang my hat on Luton then Choker.
Lol, even spell check knows who I’m talking about.
Lucky for you you’re not going to have to deal with either.
So predictable. D starts giving up gash plays once the O gets it close
Looked like the opening drive script. And the defense looked just as lost.
What a catch
Told Smith he should put Blount back in. Throws a better deep ball, ironically.
Overthrown; just an amazing catch.
The kicker is a weapon……….for the other team.
Choker sucks so bad. Are there any other options?
Lane Kiffin thinks that was a ridiculous field goal attempt
Choukair is an automatic miss beyond 40 yds
Anyone who has been watching the Choker agrees.
If the goalposts were twenty yards wider he would have nailed that.
https://youtu.be/oPwrodxghrw
And Choker misses the FG, as we all knew he would.
I would have left Luton in though, he has earned it.
Choker strikes again!
Choukair sucks. Next
#4 thinks this is touch football
Who else on this roster can kick?
Put Riley out there and make him earn his check.
Finally the int I called for!!
GREAT BLITZ!!!
And we finally got a TO back.
Who the fuck is John McCartan?
He’s done good stuff before this, a gamer.
One of Jonathan’s recruits. True freshman. Blocked an extra point last week
IIRC he recovered a fumble too, didn’t he?
He’s also been one of the few guys helping us generate a pass rush. My dad and I both noticed him at the Southern Utah game last week.
A back-pack wearin’ Throne sittin’ TO machine!
Had a good play last week too…don’t judge
The new Inspector Clouseau.
Luton is injured, Blount needs to step up here
Blitz!
Notice zero comments about play calling?
Nice to have a competent OC/HC combo on that front.
Beaver ball security still doing me proud. It’s like I’m still there!
LOL Was that old man in the stands having a seizure?
D is tired, gotta step up…..give Elu some oxygen!
OSU has 490 yds
Nevada has 351 yds
Great tackle by wilson
Houston still not reliable
I didn’t realize Reno was 4.5k feet.
Win or lose yes this team lacks talent at QB and D but they fight hard and the coaching staff seems to be very good at in game adjustments. After watching 3 games I think we have the right guy running the program. I thought the same thing after we won the civil war 2 seasons ago so who knows.
Please throw to a tightend
Wow Nev D sucks
Blount is my boy.
Love this play calling, too.
Need a TD. Can’t leave it up to Choukair.
These fucker have heart. Haven’t seen this in years. Just imagine riley in this situation.
Do not trust the kicker. Try to score a TD!
Who actually thinks he will make this?
Bueller…Bueller…
“Gut punch for all of Beaver nation”, Big Jim
I didn’t. I was 100% positive he’d miss and kick beaver nation in the balls
Eggers?
Eggers!
Ohhhhhh shit.
Nooooooooo go for the TD
Dislike this move. Should have run it twice.
Hope it works, though.
no running into the kicker call there I guess?
Unbelievable
Actually very believable
Fuck me
Knew it.
You don’t play to not lose like that and let one of your worst players (the kicker) decide the outcome unless you absolutely have to.
Smith is a dipshit. Could have run two more plays.
HORRIBLE COACHING DECISION! EVERYONE IN BEAVER NATION KNEW HE WAS GOING TO MISS THAT!
Bad clock management
Dumb, dumb, dumb. Take your ~3 shots at the end zone and kick a FG only if you have to. I can’t believe that call. Just so brutal.
Choker needs to be replaced. I don’t care if it’s with a walk on, a player from the soccer team, whatever. Dude has got to fucking go.
Female soccer player.
Tall mountain.
Colorado did something like that. Went well from what I heard : x
Turns out she wasn’t a team player
Yeah… something about yo mama… blah blah.
I coulda made that fuckin kick
We inexplicably played it like it was a 25 hard FG w one timeout left instead of closer to 35 w TWO timeouts left. I mean WHY?????
I’m so happy we have a dedicated ST coach.
Maybe we should think about paying him north of $300k.
Special teams coaches don’t coach kicking fundamentals. Name one kicker or punter who ever became a special teams coach? Kickers have private coaches similar to swing coaches in golf. Choukair missed that kick, not Cookus.
Choke Air
Name more than one ST play for our side in this game.
*pooch punt doesn’t count
The play that stood out to me was the recovery of the onside kick attempt by Nevada. It was at an unexpected moment when things were falling apart for Oregon State. I think it was Bodden that recovered it.
they said Bodden on TV but it was Kee Whetzel who grabbed the ball
Eggers ALMOST called it….
He would’ve been 100% correct had he called for the Beavs to lose on a missed FG instead of win. What a “weapon”, huh?
Wasn’t he a 4 star? Guess st players don’t matter. Especially when it comes to st only players
well now he’s a 2 star kicker
Beaver bump.
I wouldn’t trot that useless fuck back on to the field once the rest of the season.
Go for two after any touchdown and never kick another field goal.
Fucking useless choking piece of garbage.
Bad kicker but not a fan of over the top personal attacks. Sure he’s doing the best he can. He’s just not good.
Cool story.
He can fuck off and be a useless choking bitch somewhere else.
We had a game several years back where our kicker missed like 2 FGs and 2 extra points, and I was more angry at him than I’ve ever been at any player.
That game was against LSU. And that kicker became the greatest kicker in the history of OSU.
Loss not on Choukair. Smith should know what he has (and doesn’t have) in him by now. Can’t play for the FG there. Season trajectory changing loss. Ugh.
I agree but that wasn’t a difficult kick
That was textbook running into the kicker, bullshit no call. Unacceptable
Have to make that kick
It was a weak enough “running into him” no way they’re making that call in that situation. Just make the freaking kick.
Fuck that, that’s a penalty and has to be called. Not making that call is malpractice as a ref. Bullshit to claim otherwise, that’s the textbook definition of Dunn into the kicker
That’s what losers do. Blame the refs for losing
While I respect your advocacy for masturbation, the refs are not the reason the Beavers lost.
So, running into the kicker isn’t a penalty? Cool
Refs were actually really good all night.
If you honestly believe the refs were “good” on the last play you’re either a Nevada fan in denial or literally hate OSU.
Neither would surprise me given this blogs history
Terrible coaching decision. The best players on the team are #22 and #17. At least try to get them the ball then if you have no choice you put it in choke boy’s hands.
Wondering when we can start the new coaching search. I haven’t been a Smith fan from the start. I believe that you can’t teach judgement. Bringing Riley in was a major misstep. Now he pissed away the game. It’s premature to think about letting him go but the writing is on the all to me, not going to work.
Smith derped it at the end, but I’m not off the wagon yet. This team would have folded in the second half under Anderpants. Only three games so far.
They would have folded on Friday walk thru under anderson.
Who the fuck is still all wet for GA?
Oh yeah….
News flash:
He gone.
Did you all seriously think we were going to win?
Same old Beavers. Get your hopes up then it all comes crashing down.
That’s what a program with a losing mentality looks like. Losing a heartbreaker to a fucking Nevada team that will win 5 games at best.
Give him another kick. We win and he should have gotten another kick
He got two chances in this game Mr Brilliance. How’d those turn out?
Your BS argument had no bearing on either.
Shit and, oh yeah, shit.
It’s not a BS argument, that was running into the kicker and had to be called
It is a BS argument. Whether it was or wasn’t running into the kicker had ZERO bearing on that miss or the previous.
And if you think he was going to make it from 5 yards closer after shanking those previous two? You’re an even bigger idiot than previously thought.
I’m not relying on refs, I admitted he should have made the kick
It’s possible for BOTH THINGS TO BE TRUE
its possible to believe he should have made the kick and to expect competent officials to make an obvious call, BOTH CAN BE TRUE
When you rely on the refs for the win, you’re going to lose.
Fine…Refs still shouldn’t be excused to miss clear penalties
Is that what I wrote?
It doesn’t look like that’s what I wrote.
Did I write something else where what you wrote makes sense… and then you hacked me and changed my words to say something completely different and weirdly not having anything to do with how you responded?
LSU baseball disagrees
So this blog was wrong for calling out the bad calls? Is that what you are saying?
Everyone remembers Serna at LSU, but this??
How this program has fallen, at least LSU was, what #3 in the nation, and now we’re disappointed by a gut punch loss to Nevada?
Choker’s not some Serna, 3 for 7 on the season.
That was just a weird series of events on O.
I have no clue what they were doing. Give the ball to your playmakers. Score a TD. Sock it away.
Instead we lose yardage while moving the ball from the left hash to the middle?
With how many time-outs left?
Just poor management.
Wtf just happened?
They put a Beaver on it.
you guys are hilarious, the guy missed an easy kick, you can’t risk a turnover in that situation.
Yeah you should just tuck your pecker between your legs and lose like a fucking pussy.
so much anger at the angry house tonight have a great night guys. And remember stay angry my friends.
Dude was 50% on FGs. He barely makes extra points. Run the ball at least once.
Risk a turnover?
We just turned it over on 2nd down because of the kick attempt… after we wasted several plays-worth of time running backwards and wasting clock.
Have a great night.
The run game was fine. It was just under-utilized or.and the play calling sucked.
That was just a lousy game offensively. We should have put 50+ on that D.
“We are going to get blasted this year by everybody”
Probably. I will be shocked if the Beavs win another game.
Why?
The D looks like they finally woke up. I think the more Elu gets in shape, the better we are.
Plus, Reichner and Morris will be major pluses in the near future.
Good points about the D, add to that the Offensive play calling.
Gotta wonder if the ground game will be more like the first two games than today’s “play from behind” show.
I’m really skeptical about the O play calling.
But no….
Arizona is most definitely not getting better. That’s a decent chance for a win. The flying Herberts from methville have looked vanilla all year so there’s a chance there too.
Every other team is a curb stomping in the making.
Nevada would have beaten Cal, Zony, UCLA, Wazzu and Nikegon today.
Let’s not get too overexcited about the Pac.
maybe not wazzu… but you never know with that loosey-goosey team.
Really strange coaching decision/management. You’ve got all the leverage, can control the clock with two timeouts to their none, and you throw all that away and take it backwards and let it all ride on your kicker that just shanked one?
^this
Who had already missed one and was only successful on 50% before that kick.
They converted two 4th downs on that drive. Just to let it ride on one play. And kick us in the balls. It’s what losers do.
“Choukair said his biggest improvement from last season to this is with the mental aspect of the game.
‘Mentally I think I’m way stronger than I was last year and I think that’s the biggest thing, especially as a kicker,’ he said.”
Wrong
Once he realizes he has “big fucking claws” he’s going to be dangerous
I’m confused guys, Do the extra timeout savings go to Riley’s or Smith’s account here?
Riley’s 401K
PERS Tier 1
Riley is PERS II.
You would not want to talk to me if he were PERS I.
Even Riley scratched his head with that sequence.
I doubt it. The game ended and the Beavs still had a timeout instead of 3
To me it was sort of a NFL type decision by JS but WITHOUT a NFL kicker. 3-7, miss a possible streak ending kick, you need to ride the pines. Next kicker up.
“We should have run the ball more.”
With that awesome 2 yard average today? seems legit.
I was giving the Riley post game response…..Trying to help out JS.
Truer words were never spoken.
Is the baseball team too busy to share their All-American catcher?
I’ve never been more convinced that this blog is really about hating Oregon State than I am tonight
It’s possible to believe that the kicker sucks and the refs missed an obvious call and only this blog would decide the refs are fine and all the blame goes to Smith and the kicker.
This blog isn’t about critical dissent; it’s about hating everything OSU does.
Well you did leave once. And didn’t stay gone. Too bad.
I’m sure your butt buddies over at Benny’s house can hold you and justify losing to Nevada.
It’s what losers do. Victim mentality. They focus on the one thing instead of the bazillion other things that led up to the one thing.
I want you to be mad when officials miss a game winning call like a normal fan base
And as for benny’shouse. I got banned there for being too pessimistic
I’m literally the middle
GRRRR SCOTTY MAD!! SCOTTY SMASH!!! FUCK THE REFS!!!
(Feel better now?)
You’re right. You’ve convinced me. You’re a crybaby bitch with a victim mentality
I don’t blame the refs for Blount fumbling for another opposition score or throwing an INT in an equally bad area which gave them another TD.
I don’t blame them at all.
I agree 100% that the refs should have thrown the flag. He should have had another shot at it.
None of that changes the fact that he never should have been kicking that FG in the first place, and Jonathan Smith is a 2 ball bitch.
It’s an hour after a tough loss. I don’t like everything on here either but at least this site allows free speech without banning people for not following group think.
If you’ve ever played or coached a sport, the one thing you know is that you can’t change a ref’s mind.
I think the PI on an uncatchable pass was more egregious.
But what am I going to do about it?
Whine louder?
It just shouldn’t have come to the point where the refs even made a difference in the game.
It’s going to be tough to make the CFB playoffs with two losses.
“But if we would have fumbled it or thrown a pick, everyone would have been calling for smiths head for not just kicking.”
Disagree. Multiple people were saying you CAN’T leave it to the kicker.
Tough loss.
Maybe this will light a fire in the team? I know if school was in session they’d be lighting a fire in Chokers car right now.
And for the “They miss calls all game” crowd.
You’re right
The difference
Missing a holding call in the 2nd quarter is legitimately missing a call, missing an obvious penalty on the last play is deciding not to call it.
That is different. It just is.
https://media.giphy.com/media/RL0xU1daTlMoE/giphy.gif
Neat meme, enjoy hating OSU. You’re good at it.
Enjoy focusing on one thing contributing to the loss that was out of the team’s control and practically ignoring the dozens of others that were in their control. When things suck, blame someone else!
FYI, Just because you claim I am ignoring things doesn’t make it true
But whatever, honestly don’t give two shits what wills that hate OSU think. Enjoy
Waaaaah! It’s not fair!
That is literally how you’ve come off tonight here. Crying like a bitch.
Victim mentality
There’s going to a hundred dudes in front of VFC Monday morning kicking field goals in the parking lot.
Let hope.
Look on the bright side. If Smith won a bunch of games this year, we’d have to worry about losing him to USC when they fire Helton.
Seriously. Who gets whipped by Texas?
MR…Alamo Bowl?
McM is carving up UCLA right now. Oh, what could have been. At least we are in good company.. Wiskys kicker screwed the pooch too.
