Edit: my answers are now up on his site: link
Here you go guys. Hank from GoMightyCard. Check for my answers to this questions on his site. They’re not up yet, but check back in a bit. He apologized for the slow response. IMO it doesn’t do much good to get these out on a Friday with only one day of discussion. Next year we’ll have to work on it sooner. Anyway, here are the answers to questions you guys asked.
Why such a drop off with their QB from last year to this year?
This is the question that everyone’s asking, but I don’t think there’s any one answer, just lots of different factors. First and foremost, the top three receivers from last year are gone. That would normally call for some adjustments, but the Stanford passing offense has been predicated on precision on both ends. Last year it never seemed like the receivers were wide open, but they were always exactly where they were expected to be, and Costello always put the ball exactly where they expected it. Costello relied not just on the superior strength and ability of J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, for example, but on the chemistry the two of them shared. Costello and his receivers were always on the same page, and the result was one of the best years a Stanford quarterback has ever had. So there was always going to be an adjustment period as those receivers were replaced, but Costello wasn’t healthy during the spring or much of the summer, so wasn’t able to work with his new targets to build that confidence and chemistry that’s so necessary in this offense, and that shows. And then there have been more injuries. Costello was injured on the last play of the first half in week one and then missed game two. He seemed to be healthy for week three, but on the first series last week his passing hand came down on a defender’s helmet, and it clearly bothered him the rest of the way. He didn’t throw much in practice this week, and we haven’t even heard the official word from David Shaw about his playing status on Saturday. An announcement is expected later today.
Who is the backup QB, and will he get into this game if Costello struggles?
The backup quarterback is Davis Mills. He was the top rated pro-style quarterback in the recruiting class of 2017, and several scouts even compared him to Andrew Luck, but injuries have curtailed his development. There was a knee injury midway through his senior season of high school, another injury soon after arriving at Stanford, and yet another one last year. He’s finally healthy, and at media day Costello said he was looking better than he has in three years. He played well enough in his relief stint during week one, but struggled along with the rest of the offense against USC in week two. He showed the things you usually see from backup quarterbacks — some bad reads, a lack of touch when touch was required, and an incomplete grasp of the playbook. I’ll definitely be surprised if Costello doesn’t get the start, but given all the intrigue, I suppose it won’t be a surprise if Mills plays at least a little bit.
Do fans still think Shaw is there for life?
The short answer to the question the way you pose it is yes. Nothing short of a scandal would cause the administration to fire David Shaw, and the only reason Shaw would choose to leave would be for the NFL, something that isn’t talked about as much anymore. So even though the Cardinal fortunes have slipped recently, Shaw sits comfortably in a rocking chair, not a hot seat. All of that being said, there is plenty of grumbling in the fan base. Personally, I’m a huge Shaw supporter, and there’s no one in America that I’d rather have as coach of my team, but people get spoiled quickly. All of that success we enjoyed just a few years ago, going to three Rose Bowls in four years, makes eight-win seasons feel like failures. As a result, there is lots of frustration with the offense, with recruiting, and with the current lack of identity. The most belligerent voices even blame the coaching staff for the recent string of injuries that have decimated the offensive line. So in a nutshell, lots of fans are dissatisfied, but Shaw isn’t going anywhere. It will be interesting, however, to see if there’s turnover on his staff during this off season.
Anything about the loss to Oregon which makes you believe the chemistry is improving between Costello and his receivers? Do you expect improvements to the passing game this week?
Unfortunately, no. Last week’s game offered almost no optimism for the Stanford offense. I think the offensive line played better at times, and the running game didn’t look quite as anemic as it had earlier in the season, but overall it was one of the worst offensive performances in recent memory. As outlined above, there doesn’t seem to have been much work between Costello and his receivers during practice this week, so I worry that things might look the same this Saturday as last.
You’ve written of Shaw, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so frustrated and angry, and I think that’s a good thing.” Do you expect changes to the coaching approach or the preparations this week? Changes to both?
I’m certain that his attitude on Saturday night served as some type of catalyst for the coaches and players as they worked this week. Even on Tuesday during his weekly presser he was still on edge and clearly still angry about the Oregon game. I don’t naive enough to think that that means they’ll all just flick a switch and return to being a dominant team, but I think it guarantees the team won’t be looking past this game. When a team is 1-3 and has struggled as much as this group, it can’t look past anyone. This has become the most important game of the season. Not only do they need to fix what’s going on, there is the looming reality that this team could miss out on a bowl bid for the first time in a decade. At this point they need every win they can get.
Will Shaw or Pritchard call the O? Or a combo? What difference will it make?
This is another source of contention among fans. Tavita Pritchard is the offensive coordinator, but Shaw is the primary play caller. Shaw doesn’t like to delineate their relationship in clear terms, but he has always made it clear that Shaw’s the one calling the plays in the red zone. The rest of the time, the feeling — and again, this has never been completely confirmed — is that Pritchard suggests plays and sometimes Shaw listens. This summer when I asked Shaw about play-calling logistics, his answer seemed to support that. It seems like during the game he gets lots of input from Pritchard, and even some of the other coaches, about what looks to be working, and then he calls the plays based on all that. He also scripts plays for the opening drives of each half, and I’d expect those scripts are influenced by Pritchard as well. Naturally, all of this leads to criticism from fans, especially now as the offense has been struggling. The general feeling, I think, is that people would prefer if Shaw hired a more experienced offensive coordinator and gave him full play-calling responsibility. I could see him hiring someone new, but it’s hard for me to imagine him giving up the offense entirely.
Has recruiting fallen off or is this just a down year in a long term uptick cycle?
This is another mystery. If you look at the offense, there are still lotsof four-star out there. Lots of them. But two years ago they weren’t able to sign their usual complement of offensive linemen, so the recent spate of injuries has left that group incredibly thin. Three different true freshmen have started on the offensive line, and the two players who were supposed to anchor what should’ve been the best line in the country — Walker Little and Foster Sarell, arguably the two top overall recruits in 2017 — have battled injuries. Little, a consensus pre-season All-America, suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first game, and Sarell has been in and out of the lineup with nagging injuries. Health will always be the most important variable in a football team’s success, and when Stanford was at its best the team was healthier than it had a right to be. The last three seasons have made up for that, with the Cardinal absorbing more than its share of injuries. That combined with the earlier dip in recruiting has produced what we’re looking at now.
How do they and other outsiders view Luton?
I have to admit that I don’t have any thoughts on Luton.
Your prediction?
If there was any optimism after last week’s game it came from the defense. They were able to hold an explosive Oregon team to just 21 points, and there were long stretches of the game when the Ducks couldn’t move the ball. After three straight games against the high-paced offenses of UCF, USC, and Oregon, it seemed like the defense finally came together. There were some mental breakdowns that allowed two of those touchdowns, but in general they looked much better, especially in the front seven. It’s hard for me to believe that I’m saying this, but at this point it looks like the Cardinal’s going to have to rely on the defense to win games. With that in mind, I’m looking for a low-scoring game and a 20-13 Stanford win.
First. Eat my dust.
The answer about Luton is hilarious.
In honor of Jack I will post fifty unanswered replies to my self. #birchers
Yeah but at least have a take one way or the other. But in his defense maybe he missed the Facebook live stream from Hawaii.
see you tomorrow, hopefully.
Pick up game with a Nerf and plastic chainsaw for 3rd downs??
nope: just beer, cornhole, friendship and OSU sports conversation
BG: I hope to be set up at the Forestry Lot by 1 p.m., but traffic can always upset schedules. Stop by if you can.
WB, I will try to. I will be out at the fairgrounds with infrequent poster Jason the Beaver. Are you across from the tennis courts? The shuttle bus drops off right there. What time do you shut down beforehand?
yes, the Forestry Lot is west of the tennis courts and 30th Street. Corner of 30th and Washington, and I do believe the shuttle drops off on the north east side of that intersection; Truax is at the south east side; Forestry southwest side. We’ll probably start shutting down around 3:30; maybe a tad later.
We need an angrybeav flag to fly at games.
His comments on Pritchard are interesting. That sounds like a shit storm. Also interesting how many injuries and freshman they have to play…looks like “Luck o’ da Beavs” hits all teams.
After reading about Costello and their backup I’m starting to think that backup comes in and puts up 60 on us. History suggests that’s likely.
Their backup is very talented, so that is a definite possibility. I expect them try to get back to their identity and bludgeon us with the run game.
Sounds like they have a bunch of freshman on the OLine and that area is an issue, too…
Stanford has installed the spread option and the Freshman back-up will run for 100 yards. Banker will be doing the hand-jive in absentia. Luck O’ the Beavs.
VB team knocks off #24 Quacks.
Beaver history dictates this will be the week everything comes together for Stanford. Davis Mills will emerge as the next great Stanford QB and (Oregon native) Cameron Scarlett will be P12 POW.
count on it.
Their defense actually played pretty well against oregon. Herbert still completed passes, but was under pressure throughout the game. Luton better put on his back brace for this one. I worry for the guy
Oregon has pretty terrible WRs, though, which might explain why they’re committing violations to poach ours.
our offense is better than this guy knows
Agree. It might be better than Oregon’s offense.
Gives me more hope than I had since he seems pretty bearish. We just have to slow their run game. Maybe bring up a safety and take your chances with Costello beating us.
That has to be it. 8-9 guys in the box every play. Make them win it thru the air.
Who were we playing years ago when Banker refused to do this, and the announcers were bashing us all game long about stacking the box… I believe the opposing coach even said something like “I can’t believe they didn’t put more guys in the box” in his post game presser.
Who were we playing? Lol. It happened way more than one time…
It was Utah. They were down to their 4th or 5th string QB. Everyone in the PAC knew all they could do was run. And we still played them straight up.
Whittingham even called it out on the on field interview after the game. Something along the lines of “I can’t believe they didn’t stack the box, but I’m glad our guys competed their way to the victory.”
Better than quack offense? We only scored 28 against mighty Hawaii…
most points scored vs Oklahoma State this year:
Texas and OSU tied at 36
Tulsa 21
McNeese 14
our offense ain’t so bad
Agreed…the RB stable is poorly known and still under-appreciated give the Beavers record and recent history, and the likes of Hodgins as well. Get Musgrave some damn reps at TE, a sneaky, unknown pass catcher…
Second question for AngryTree: Will he be posting the beaver preview article before the game, or after?
Yeah next year I’m not doing this unless we get the articles out sooner. It leaves no time for discussion. I told him that.
I got him my answers Wednesday no reason they’re not up still. Time to ball bust.
https://twitter.com/angrybeavs/status/1177636403108204544
Maybe something in Real Life came up and he’s busy *shrug*
I’m ball busting him.
But I did get him my answers Wednesday morning, and which time I also sent my questions. So he had time to answer all the questions I sent (takes 10 to 20 minutes), but didn’t have time to post my pre-answered questions (about 30 seconds to post). Use logic, Scotty!
If I used logic all the time, I wouldn’t be a beaver fan!
Costello out for Saturday. Beavs chances of winning just decreased. Insert all-world backup.
Yep. He will come in and throw for 400, and run for 150.
For whatever it’s worth (nothing, really) SI has us as their best bet for this week.
Gotta give Smith credit for turning this game into a pretty big showcase game for his program. They’re banking on good attendance and a good showing by his team. Tons of alumni and some actually pretty big name visitors, especially from the 2021 class. Plus one uncommittee 2020 recruit with an offer will be there, Silas Bolden(Victor’s brother, could potentially commit)
If they pull a Lucy Van Pelton and play a stinker, it could set the program back even further(is that possible?) but if they make a good, entertaining showing, it could really boost the programs profile.
No pressure
going to be interesting to see if the coaching staff and team can keep their composure and win a winnable home game.
Stanford is NOT going to want to lose 4 straight, especially with the 4th to one of the PACs weakest programs this last several years.
And an inexperienced back up QB starting, highly ranked coming out of HS….that’s usually disaster for the Beavs.
As mentioned the other day, Stanford has a tradition of winning and our Beavs still haven’t learned how to win. This is a great opportunity to begin that learning process but will require a fast start and no let up…….the crowd should help.
Canzano just talked with the writer of a campus paper at Stanford, he says their backup QB has had more than one ACL injury and hasn’t looked comfortable so far. This guy said he has not been an accurate passer, again, so far.
Look for Shaw to try to grind it out on the ground, even with a young and banged up OL.
no let up
This deserves an entire post.
First thing my lady said when I asked her prediction is that they’d start strong then fade…
She barely watches them.
What does no let up look like? Some think playcalling to grind out 4 to 5.5yd rushes is playing not to lose, that close to 50% passing and several long balls is trying to score and thereby not letting up. This week, against this opponent, I’d submit that burning clock with the run game is the best form of NoLetUp.
Gotta get up by two scores first.
Oh, and there is NoLetUp on the defensive side too. That’s where the improved ability to get into the backfield can play a big part.
OSU has a tendency to think the game is in hand if they’re up double digits. Then they’re proven wrong, things spiral out of control, and they have no idea how to stabilize the game. It’s been like this forever and they never seem to grasp you can never stop playing.
Angry, what are your sources saying on Devon Williams?
Sorry for the delay, everyone. I usually aim for Friday mornings for my preview posts, and I wasn’t aware that you guys like to have them earlier in the week. Hopefully angry will still have me back next year and I can post it earlier. Anyway, the post is up. It’s always fun to do these, especially with this site. If only other schools were as active…
Thanks Hank! I hope we kick your ass this weekend!

PS: FTD
No hard feelings here; sounds like you and angry didn’t have a common understanding in advance of this week.
Always look forward to your take and appreciate your campaign to get books for your students.
Agree 100% on wishing more teams had bloggers like you and angry.
Max Meyer recommends bettin’ on the Beavs:
“Stanford at Oregon State: Oregon State +4.5 (-110) at William Hill
It’s not always the best move to fade a team that is at its lowest point, but Stanford is just in a really poor spot this week. The Cardinal have been traveling quite a lot recently, going from a road game in Los Angeles to a cross-country trip to Orlando to a flight back home to Palo Alto to a trip up north to Corvallis. That is a draining schedule for college kids. Meanwhile, Oregon State is coming off a bye and the Beavers won a 45-7 home affair vs. Cal Poly the week before.
Oregon State knows it doesn’t have many opportunities to pick up a Pac-12 win this season, but it’ll be amped to take on a stumbling Stanford team. The Cardinal offense was abysmal last week against Oregon, mustering only 3.7 yards per play and 4.0 yards per attempt through the air. Stanford QB K.J. Costello injured his hand early on, and it clearly seemed to impact him throughout the game. Costello is questionable to play this weekend, and his backup Davis Mills has been uninspiring in game action against Northwestern and USC this season. Whichever quarterback plays has to deal with a makeshift offensive line hit hard by injuries (NOTE: Costello was ruled out, so Mills is starting).
Now, at first glance, this seems like an excellent get-right spot for the Stanford offense. Oregon State’s defense last year was historically bad. This season, the Beavers have actually been manufacturing much more negative plays. Oregon State ranked 122nd in 2018 in tackles for loss per game (4.42). It has jumped up all the way to 20th (8.0 TFLs per game) this season, including notching nine against Oklahoma State’s explosive offense. Stanford is already a team that struggles getting first downs, putting the Cardinal in second- and third-and-long situations will make it even tougher.
Stanford has actually been an ever bigger disappointment on the defensive side of the ball, particularly through the air. The Cardinal have allowed a whopping 17 pass plays of at least 20 yards, which is tied for 109th in college football. Stanford has been much better defending the run (47th in YPC allowed), but the best rushing offense in terms of yards per carry it has faced is UCF at 38th (5.15 YPC). Northwestern, USC and Oregon all rank in the bottom half of the country in YPC. Oregon State ranks 11th, led by the tandem of Jermar Jefferson and Artavis Pierce. Jefferson sat out last game vs. Cal Poly due to injury, but he’s ready to go for this weekend.
While Oregon State prefers to run the ball, the Beavers also have a competent passing game. Jake Luton has thrown for eight touchdowns without an interception this season, and wideout Isaiah Hodgins is an NFL talent. The Beavers also have one of the better offensive lines in the conference, as Football Outsiders ranks them 12th in line yards (tops in Pac-12) and 12th in sack rate (also the best mark in the Pac-12).
I get that backing Oregon State is scary, but hey, we’ve won with the Beavers this season when we took them as a touchdown underdog at Hawaii (they lost 31-28). This is a team hungry for a conference win, and the Cardinal are limping into Corvallis.”

Devon Williams just announced via his twitter he is a duck. Can’t wait to hear what happened.
https://twitter.com/2eraa?lang=en&lang=en
If OSU jumped the gun on announcing this, someone should be fired. 2 significant recruiting embarrassments in 2 years is enough.
And williams is a duck…
https://twitter.com/2eraa/status/1177673811090526208?s=19
Yikes. Has to be a recruiting violation.
You better hope so or you and NB will have a lot of tweets to delete.
Why would we delete any Tweets?
Does anyone care if I ban this guy? It’s to the point he’s beyond annoying. Speak up if you think he adds anything.
You’re asking me why you’d delete tweets when you have a history of doing it with this story and also Pat Casey coming back?
Okay, goodbye.
He’s gone. If anyone has a good argument why he should be reinstated let me know. The guy is super dense/annoying. I don’t have time to explain nuance or every little detail to people like that. I’m going to be less judicious with the bans since my time has more demands on it, and I can’t bother with these egghead types.
Reverend sent to purgatory? Being a Beav fan is hell.
Yeah. But he can be resurrected if you guys give me good reason.
I can’t stand petty personalities that can’t figure out nuance and it seems his obsession lately. Definitely not what Jesus would do.
Wait, you banned him for pointing out you delete tweets when they make you look bad? Huh, sounds very petty.
No, for being super annoying and wasting my time. I didn’t delete the tweet and retweeted it even.
Does anyone gain value from this guy? As I said, if you can point out how I can reinstate him.
Wow. What a kick in the balls. He would most likely have a better career at OSU.
My bad. Said the other day chances were (only) in the 80% range that he was a head case.
I bet Williams self-identifies as “they.” TBD (Trojan/Beaver/Duck).
What a head case. Must be hell for him to dress himself in the morning and make a few decisions.
Canzano podcast the other was just berating Ducks for being sore losers, “you get all the recruits, have 4 and 5 stars, OSU got one, get over it…”
Time to move on.
Don’t know if this is behind a pay wall…but the comment from the Max Meier prediction cracked me up: “That is a draining schedule for college kids.”
Here’s how training camp went…
https://theathletic.com/1235083/2019/09/25/stanford-training-camp-meals-chef-joseph-guinto/
We might of dodged a bullet with Williams. From what I am reading this guy sounds like he is a lesser version of Antonio Brown. Clay Helton was fed up with him apparently. We don’t need players like that. I’m betting he doesn’t contribute much for the Ducks, but I could be wrong and maybe he has finally found his place.
I think we did dodge a bullet. I’m more upset about the likely recruiting violations and how it went down than losing the player. Oregon gained a WR who can’t catch. I only liked him as a S for the Beavs, and I’m not sure he’d convert.
The only reason I’m upset losing the player is he’d pad recruiting stats and maybe make other higher profile guys look at OSU. Between this and USC there’s clearly smoke/fire with this guy.
Wow. WTF happened. We got Beav on our face.
I wish.
We got Jacquizzed on.
Let me get my beaverjuice towel.
Somehow, I get the feeling the whole Williams saga is going to kick-off a comedy of errors for the beavs this weekend. Between this, and Costello (potentially) being out for Saturday, things are not lining up nicely. Luck o da Beavs?
I like the idea of Smith being able to sell a high level recruit on his team over Cristobull and the Quacks, but let’s face it, Williams caught five passes in two seasons at USC and by the time he sees the field Herbert will be long gone. His high rating is for being an athlete, in other words a player without a position.
It seems like most of us like Williams for the wrong reasons. Not his ability/talent but that he symbolized sticking it to the Ducks, or he could lure other 4-stars, boost our ratings, or could be good at some other position….
I mean does anyone care we lost him as a talent? I don’t. But I do care for the other reasons. Maybe that makes me horrible.
My issue with this is why did this happen? Does Smith not understand recruiting rules? Between this and Hawaii that’s two embarrassments. It seems to me like Williams exploited a loophole where a player can enroll at any number of schools and decide later (probably waited for a Duck scholarship to open). It might not be a Duck violation after all, which makes this even worse for the Beavs. It’s a terrible look. But I don’t really care about Williams as a talent. I thought he’d make a pretty good S but we can replace that.
I don’t think it’s a wrong reason. I think perception becomes reality with recruiting. Look at the attention the program received for the 4 Star Nebraska and Oklahoma recruits. LIke I said earlier, it must not be a violation, not even Mario could be that blatant and stupid. I do think it’s another Beaver misstep and we need to know why, but I don’t think we will get an answer and Smith will downplay it.
If you think Smith will downplay it you are probably right; one thing I’d bet on is that Barnes won’t play it at all. That overpaid dude SHOULD bear responsibility and get to the bottom of what happened.
As the (I guess) departed Rev said, IF there were screw ups someone should be fired, 2 embarrassments in the recruiting area; not acceptable. That is, IF there were screwups at OSU.
Not holdin’ my breath!
I don’t know anything about transfer recruiting. Maybe what Williams did was totally fine and he’s just a flake. I guess we will see what Smith says. Like you said Barnes won’t have anything to say about it.
Sounds like he’s a dick
A duck
You say potatoe, I say…
I really don’t blame Williams here. He took full advantage of the transfer system. Leveraged OSU to get the scholarship he wanted. Didn’t get locked into to OSU by signing a financial agreement instead of a scholarship. Definitely won’t be the last to do this.
I’d also advise, don’t read college athlete twitters, they will give you brain damage.
I agree…begrudgingly.
This is embarrassing. I couldn’t care less if he came or not. But the optics look terrible on this, do we have an NCAA compliance person on staff or are they just guessing at this point.
Fucking stupid mistake
The optics look so fucking bad.
My 0regon hatred is at about 200% right now.
No shit, if he goes anywhere else I’m fine. But of all the places. God damn eugene. What makes it worse is all the “we didn’t want him anyway” shit they talked and that kid still goes there. I dont know whether to laugh at the impending train wreck that’s about to happen in eugene or cry at the ineptitude of our coaching staff/athletic dept. All they had to do was wait and it would be no big deal.
Angrys comment below nails it. Amateurs describes this whole load of bullshit.
I’m actually not sorry we didn’t get Williams — my impression is that he is the kind of kid who belongs with the duckies. I think we can get by quite nicely with the receivers we’ve got. Now, how our administrators handled the situation, well, perhaps we could lose a few of them as well.
Yep.
Yup, a bad look for a department headed by the second highest paid AD in the conference whose pay and PERS will not be affected at all!
Nemec has new commentary up. Beavers were sloppy with this in his opinion. A program shouldn’t announce until a recruit has started classes or football activities. Here’s the link if you’re so inclined.
https://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/2019/09/youre-right-oregon-state-something-went-wrong-in-devon-williams-saga-commentary.html
‘Sloppy Beavers,’ why am I not surprised?
Seems like someone in the AD may need remedial classes in how to AD.
Yea the only issue with this is we should have got out in front of his announcement in a classy way without dragging his name. JS could have reinforced the low ego high output mantra he has been touting in a tweet and left it at that. Ultimately the kid didn’t want to be here and this is not a big loss, not a huge position of need.
Maybe this motivates and angers some of the guys on the team for this weekend and beyond too? It just feels disrespectful. I’m interested to see how we respond.
I let the reverend back in. Lord save us.
He was acting like an infant so he needed a timeout.
He needs to say two Hail Marys. The prayer, not the play. He shall then be absolved of his sin.
His sin is being so goddamn annoying.
Hip hip….
Looks like Cal QB broke his collarbone
the weather report for tomorrow:
“Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. South wind 6 to 8 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. ”
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=44.565&lon=-123.2635
On the Williams issue, it will be on Smith to ensure the staff and team aren’t distracted by this Williams melodrama. The kid sounds like a head case, or someone who strategically played the system, and as many here have said, not a loss. If Smith is of the Chris Peterson coaching tree and the “Our kind of guys” mindset, Williams sounds not at all like a kid for the Beavers’ program.
Thunderstorms? Lightning in the valley = pants shitting.
Saw that Damir Collins play for Jefferson tonight. Left at halftime as Jefferson led 52-0. Kid is pretty damn fast and runs with power. Multiple long runs through traffic and every Madison player was left flailing.
Also, there’s no way the Beavs will land him so no need to get your hopes up.
Angry, I used the soap, it’s awesome. I love the scent, it’s about perfect. What other scents do you make? My wife is interested in some possibly.
She did question me about why some guy on the internet was sending me free soap for my beard. “I dont know, I just sent him a shirtless photo of myself and he sent it to me”.
Great to hear! And thanks for that photo. It’s my background picture.
I make lavender, lemongrass, geranium, citrus…many others (I have almost any essential oil you can think of), but those are some popular ones. The pine tar has no essential oil or colorant. The other bars have EO and natural colorants (root powder). They’re difficult to make with natural materials and don’t look as bright or fancy as synthetic soaps your probably used to, but I can make them look good/rustic. If you or her are interested just email me. They make good Christmas gifts so things get busy around late October.
Oh man, lavender is my wife’s favorite. Let me know when you start making it. I’d like to get a few bars and definitely another pine tar.
Okay.
I make them to order all the time so if you want something just email me with what you want, and I can quote you a total. I have some excellent pine tar in stock right now, but no lavender. Could make some. It’s probably my most popular bar so even if you want just a few I could sell the rest easily.
Do you have a website for your soap? I am interested
Hey Tex, I do it all word of mouth, no website, since it’s a hobby operation… but if you email me I can send photos or any info you need about it. I took photos of almost every style I’ve made.
Andrew Nemec is going to masturbate to his Devon Williams reporting at least a dozen times this weekend.
His last write up is probably the most enjoyable thing he has ever written.
Guaranteed he’s on at least his 3rd round, just today. Gonna rub himself raw over this one
What a fu…………g disappointment. We celebrate initially that not only we finally get a huge commit, not only that, but we beat the Ducks for him, and then f…….k, there is a doubt, and then all of a sudden f…..k, he goes to the Ducks. It just shows how low we have sunk. How far behind them we are. Major bummer. I hope John Smith can move us forward somehow.
You talking in front of the mirror again?
Big takeaway from this Williams situation is it confirms the Hawaii thing in that Smith & Co. are amateurs and don’t fully understand recruiting. We might not be able to confirm any player until they’re on the field given the track record of this staff. It’s concerning. They’re showing their lack of experience big time. They come off as boys in men’s clothing.
(Unless Mario committed a violation, but that’s looking less likely and most likely is OSU messed up again).
I personally don’t care about losing Williams, but I do care about the above.
I agree. Fans can try to spin this any which way, but the bottom line is that this is fucking amateur hour shit.
If Smith truly got worked by this kid he should just come out and hit the lying little fucker with both barrels. Call him out for being a lying two faced little scumbag. Of course that would also be admitting that you got outsmarted and played by a fucking teenager when you’re getting paid millions to do this shit for a living.
Pretty pathetic all around.
^^^^^^^
It isn’t a huge deal. No one outside of Oregon and mid-day week noticed. Easy to get played when you have to blow teenagers constantly. The kid played them. They announced it because we need the energy. There will be a new trump conspiracy Monday.
Edgy take.
It’s on espn.com.
Find reality and stop being edgy. I don’t agree with you guys. Big deal I am 1 in a 100 here. Carry on with each other. I’m sure we will never recover and move to MW next year. I appreciate the site greatLy. Best one out here. On this I just don’t care after 4pm as the game today is far more important.

What’s so bad?
Inquiry: does anyone read these Stanford blogger posts?
Seems 90+ percent of the discussion is about Williams. More curious than anything as his site has zero responses.
Not a lot of traffic over there from the looks of his last few posts. At least not compared to here.
He needs his own version of Jack to pad his comment numbers.
I appreciated the stanford insight. It was bad timing with the williams thing. I will read blogger posts from opponents in the future.
I read about half. Picked out the questions I was interested in.
Don’t think it really looks worse for Oregon state than if they hadn’t announced. I mean, like he said he was committed, and you have to try and grab whatever momentum you can. Sounds like he was going to flip anyway. So end result is same. Much ado about nothing, plus seems like he may cause more problems than solve them. Move along.
Call it sloppy or whatever. A friend of mine within the coaching staff told me the way this kid handled the whole thing is really disgusting. They’re embarrassed and pissed off and really wanted Williams because they feel he’s a huge difference maker. He’ll end up being great for Ducks if he can get his head right. That said, there was some concerns with how he would fit in with team and in Corvallis. Obviously it wasn’t meant to be and the kid really lacked any sort of integrity through the process. Biggest concern at this point is how this has distracted the staff from game prep for Stanford. No doubt it has been at least minor distraction
That’s my biggest concern too. The impact the distraction had on prepping for Stanford, which is such an important game for the program.
Well that and how the hell did we not understand the rules around announcing a player in a news release? Or did we follow the rules and still somehow get screwed over by the player. I could see a scenario where the kid flipped and said he didn’t think his commitment was binding and the team not wanting to hold him hostage.
But regardless, they better be focused on Stanford before 1 L turns into 2 Ls this weekend.
I heard a recruiting guy say there’s no limit to how many schools a guy can enroll.
At least I think that’s what he said caught the tail end. I’ll try to find the interview. Might have been biggens
Sounds like a lack of integrity on the kids part. In retrospect, given what we now know (regarding his character, not his athletic ability) the beavers are probably better off without him. Last thing we need right now is a cancer in the locker room.
Somebody needs to post Dave from Tumwater’s interaction with Mike Parker on this subject.
He da man.
That guy needs a life. He calls like everyday and they’re all buddy buddy and don’t talk football half the time.
He’s awesome. He has to be an angrybeav.
Game thread set to go up around 3:30.
I’m going to be out at a conference on how to raise bees. Haha. I love bees. Little known fact about AB. Considering doing it.
Angrybees.com?
That usually doesn’t end well.
Waxing poetically.
BumbleBeavs.com
Pretty fitting given our team, actually.
Very cool. Have been thinking about this myself for awhile. Bee boxes in the back of our property. Keep us posted on this when you get a chance. Thanks.
It was very interesting.
It’s much more complex than I would have thought. I might start with chickens….see how that goes. Than graduate to bees.
There is a lot of buzz about that conference.
Abandoning us for a bee conference? That stings.
That comment is a keeper.
BumblingBeavs might be better, Scotty.
And BeavGopher I get it…”keeper”…good stuff in this string.
What’s funny to me is how people were putting so much stock in the fact that Williams used #FTD in his Twitter. I don’t think kids know what most of those hashtags mean, they just see other people using them and follow.
Twelve year old kid in Philomath, promising athlete, football, basketball and left handed pitcher. Told his friends in the sixth grade that he wants to be a Beaver. Should Smith, Tinkle and Canham announce him or wait a few years?
Average Stanford team limps into Corvallis today and does just enough to break hearts. Watch this one on tv it’s not going to be pretty.
If it’s not going to be “pretty” as you suggest, then why would you want to watch it anyway?
Anyone watching Wisconsin-NW? Wisconsin has red tops and tan pants…they look like Winnie the Pooh.
Lol
Barely started week 5 and already every Pac12 team has a loss on the schedule.
Every other power5 conference has more than 1 undefeated team.
Scheduling cupcakes is the way to go.
I know we should schedule cupcakes, but we can only play ourselves in the spring game!
Realized I’ve been using this site for YEARS(god how long as this been running) and never donated, so there you go.
Not sure the rain helps us; assuming we have the better passing game and higher-octane offense, we don’t want inclement weather degrading our air attack. Rain on turf is worse for passing than running.
Angry made fun of me for saying Baylor had “Nifty” moves two weeks ago, and now he’s said it twice since then :) It’s an accurate description!
It sounds like everything is going wrong for Stanford right now, and even though our defense sucks, our offense is pretty good. And their injuries are stacking up. As long as their backup QB isn’t Andrew Luck 2.0(possible though) I think we win a close game. Our biggest weaknesses have been pass D and running QBs, which are not Stanford’s strengths. And if UO dropped 21 on them, Angry’s right, 30 sounds reasonable from us.Can Stanford score 30 on anybody, even us?
No I didn’t make fun of you for saying nifty. I was just amazed b/c we both posted a comment right after his run and we both used the word “nifty”…go look back at it.
Also, thanks for the donation. Very much appreciated.

You think the team would take down the tweet welcoming D.Williams. yet, it still exists.
Where is ReverendBeav when you need him?
Might be left up for a reason. Pretty nice welcome.
Reminds everyone what a d*ck he is (insert your own vowel)
I just got a photo of the tailgating at Reser and it looks like a ghost town.
Is that accurate or did the guy just shoot a dead area?
I got some pics from friends. Looks busy
Game thread up.
