If Adams wouldn’t have sat out most of the 3Q this game wouldn’t have been close. I think the only time the D stopped EWU was when they had their second string qb in and I think it only happened once.
Season is not over. We lost to a very good Eastern Washington team with a miracle performance by their QB. Only things that matters is Pac-12 play, there was no shot at the NC anyway.
I dont care if it is the best FCS team ever. An FBS shouldn’t lose to an FCS team. Acting like PAC 12 will be magically better is a laugh. If you cant beat the FCS, how will you beat the better teams.

Thanks for the grammar lesson. My attitude is that I demand that the team and university push to be the best they can be. I wouldn’t allow my troops to settle for being 18th ranked, why should I settle for my alma mater. While we haven’t been better then 18th for years, it shouldn’t stop us for efforting to the top 10 and beyond. Houston, Wake Forest, and Boise State were some of the past 18th ranked teams and I do not give my money to them. At this rate, I can’t see myself giving my money to our program either. This is especially true when we just give contract extensions to min performing coaches, and less performing DCs.
It is a hard cycle to break. The program needs a pretty sizable influx of cash to turn things around IMHO. We need the money to hire better coaches, improve facilities, and our image in order to be able to compete at the top 10 level every year. It is just highly unlikely to happen. I don’t like it any more than you do, but it is the facts in college football today. Taking money away won’t help.
Such a cop out. No we don’t need more money. The head coach is supposed to realize he needs a better brand of defense. If he doesn’t make appropriate changes then the AD needs to step up and surround his head coach with coaches that actively contrast his weeknesses. If the athletic director fails to set his head coach up for success, then the school president needs to replace the athletic director because football money helps fund the school, a sad but true fact. It’s my suggestion that we fans slap “FIRE BANKER” bumper stickers on this week.
This one is on Banker and his woefully under prepared, under coached, flat footed, uninspired defense. This one was lost during practice. One shitty ankle tackle, flailing arm after another. I did not see one, NOT ONE, straight up hard hit by this defense all game long. This does not bode well for the season. Good bye top 25 for the year.

I get the impression that Riley didn’t watch enough film to prepare himself or his team. Then during the game he was so enamored with the athletic ability of their QB that he decided to watch how well the guy played instead of actually coach the game.
That Riley was somehow still unaware of the guy’s talent. Riley probably needs to spend a little less time doing all the neat things that he does and a little more time in the film room.

I’ve been watching college football for a decade or so and I can’t remember a team letting another team score to get the ball back with enough time on the clock to manufacture a game winning drive. However, looking at the clock today at the end of the fourth it was obvious to me, and everyone on here that you concede the touchdown. I imagine there would be times that you could look back with 20/20 and say you should have done it, but this is the first time in a game that it seemed obvious. Even MORE obvious after the pass interference call. We would have had a good shot at a W if we would have used that strategy.

I know It is minor consolation, but a shitload of FBS teams got their asses kicked by FCS schools this weekend….Kansas St., Iowa St., South Florida, UConn and future opponent San Diego St to name five (I may be missing a couple more). Some crappy motivation and prepping going on, nice to see Oregon St. part of that for the second time in three years.
What are those other FCS schools ranked and how far did they make the FCS playoffs/championship game last year? Pretty sure we played a tough team, they brought their A game and their coaches had an excellent game plan, and our defense didn’t show up today. was not at all impressed with the defense from start to finish. Glad we played an FCS team and lost close rather than getting blown out by an FBS team…which would have happened. Room for growth here and a learning experience….guess that scrimmage could have helped the defense more than the offense.
Well I just got home from the game and I am now very disappointed that I renewed my season tickets. I have been a season ticket holder for many years and this will be my last year unless Riley is fired. I know he is a nice guy and now EWU knows he is a nice guy as well. I have felt for many years that Banker should be canned but now feel that Riley should go as well. This team today was not prepared, that’s on Riley. I was embarrased by our defensive effort and the score of the game was closer than it really was, they owned us on our home field. This is my last year of spending my money on this product and I’m not blaming the players at all they were not properly prepared or coached.
I blame the players, too. Their effort stunk. Even if you’re ill prepared, you can still move around and try to wrap your arms around a guy a foot away from you instead of just standing there.
Bankers Brand of D debilitates his players. They are not athletically able to keep up with the mental capacity and experience required to compete in that scheme. Especially when playing these types offenses.

EWU and OSU had similar offensive production…we knew that this team was a spread offense. Riley and Banker can’t stop the spread offense or should I say, a dual threat QB. I watched today’s game and thought that EWU and OSU defenses switched places. Their defense outplayed our defense. we held them to 1 3 and out while they held us to more than a couple and held us to a field goal. We know Riley can’t win games with field goals.
On another note, I feel that our offense picked apart their pass defense, but the protection did break down a bit near the end of the game. If our defense, especially the pass defense, doesn’t show up next week, expect another L and close barn burner of a game for the Beavs. If we don’t find our ability to stop a dual threat QB nor the pass, then we’re in for another long season. Lack of DT’s showed today. Riley did change up looks all game long with 4-3, 3-4, 5-2(goalline), nickel, dime, they blitzed when they passed and held back when they ran. Riley and Co. were guessing 90% of the game. #3(starter) QB for EWU is the real deal. he could have played at UO in my opinion because he made plays with his feet and outplayed our defense.
I don’t think Riley should be fired, I think Banker should be on the hot seat because Riley is the offensive guy and Banker is the defensive mindset. We’ll see after the hawaii game. we lose the hawaii game close or win close…it’s gonna be a long season.
EWU was/is a good team with superior coaching. The also have better uniforms. The result was pretty much what I expected, except that I expected Division 1 level kicking by the Beavers. In this era, it is not acceptable at the jc level to kick off to the 10 yard line. And how in the world did a guy who was average at Humboldt State, get a scholarship and start at OS? I guess that Nielsen could have used that scholarship since he was and is superior to Enger. Banker, yikes. Riley, a disengaged CEO only able to communicate thru deputies.

Season is not over. We lost to a very good Eastern Washington team with a miracle performance by their QB. Only things that matters is Pac-12 play, there was no shot at the NC anyway.

Thanks for the grammar lesson. My attitude is that I demand that the team and university push to be the best they can be. I wouldn’t allow my troops to settle for being 18th ranked, why should I settle for my alma mater. While we haven’t been better then 18th for years, it shouldn’t stop us for efforting to the top 10 and beyond. Houston, Wake Forest, and Boise State were some of the past 18th ranked teams and I do not give my money to them. At this rate, I can’t see myself giving my money to our program either. This is especially true when we just give contract extensions to min performing coaches, and less performing DCs.
It is a hard cycle to break. The program needs a pretty sizable influx of cash to turn things around IMHO. We need the money to hire better coaches, improve facilities, and our image in order to be able to compete at the top 10 level every year. It is just highly unlikely to happen. I don’t like it any more than you do, but it is the facts in college football today. Taking money away won’t help.

If he doesn’t make appropriate changes then the AD needs to step up and surround his head coach with coaches that actively contrast his weeknesses. If the athletic director fails to set his head coach up for success, then the school president needs to replace the athletic director because football money helps fund the school, a sad but true fact. I’ve been watching college football for a decade or so and I can’t remember a team letting another team score to get the ball back with enough time on the clock to manufacture a game winning drive. However, looking at the clock today at the end of the fourth it was obvious to me, and everyone on here that you concede the touchdown. I imagine there would be times that you could look back with 20/20 and say you should have done it, but this is the first time in a game that it seemed obvious. Even MORE obvious after the pass interference call. We would have had a good shot at a W if we would have used that strategy.

Every time I saw a receiver catch a ball longer than 10 yards, I saw #6 chasing them five yards behind… on a good play.
The entire secondary looked horrible no one turned to look for the ball.
Martin isn’t a PAC 12 corner, we’ve known this forever. I’d rather have Nelson in there making an occasional error than watching Martin flailing to recover. Pitiful prep and no intensity – too many Popsicles and slip slidin away… Even if we somehow win 7-8 games I’ll always remember how we started the season, on our ass. Riley’s gotta go.
I will single out the same guy over and over and over again. Banker Banker Banker. His brand of defense does not work at this level. Not the proper talent and not the proper opponents for his brand of defense, just doesn’t work over and over and over again.

Did anyone notice Jovan Stevenson give up on his punt return when he had, what looked to be, a wide open sideline to gain at least another 10+ yards?
It looked like he saw the the open field and then stopped to turn around to talk to the other team.

I know It is minor consolation, but a shitload of FBS teams got their asses kicked by FCS schools this weekend….Kansas St., Iowa St., South Florida, UConn and future opponent San Diego St to name five (I may be missing a couple more). Some crappy motivation and prepping going on, nice to see Oregon St. part of that for the second time in three years.
What are those other FCS schools ranked and how far did they make the FCS playoffs/championship game last year? Pretty sure we played a tough team, they brought their A game and their coaches had an excellent game plan, and our defense didn’t show up today. was not at all impressed with the defense from start to finish. Glad we played an FCS team and lost close rather than getting blown out by an FBS team…which would have happened. Room for growth here and a learning experience….guess that scrimmage could have helped the defense more than the offense.
Well I just got home from the game and I am now very disappointed that I renewed my season tickets. I have been a season ticket holder for many years and this will be my last year unless Riley is fired. I know he is a nice guy and now EWU knows he is a nice guy as well. I have felt for many years that Banker should be canned but now feel that Riley should go as well. This team today was not prepared, that’s on Riley. I was embarrased by our defensive effort and the score of the game was closer than it really was, they owned us on our home field. This is my last year of spending my money on this product and I’m not blaming the players at all they were not properly prepared or coached.
I blame the players, too. Their effort stunk. Even if you’re ill prepared, you can still move around and try to wrap your arms around a guy a foot away from you instead of just standing there.
Bankers Brand of D debilitates his players. They are not athletically able to keep up with the mental capacity and experience required to compete in that scheme. Especially when playing these types offenses.
exactly. And OSU does not and will continue to not have the athletes capable of playing the caliber of defense required. You have to put your players in position to be successful. That is great coaching.

EWU and OSU had similar offensive production…we knew that this team was a spread offense. Riley and Banker can’t stop the spread offense or should I say, a dual threat QB. I watched today’s game and thought that EWU and OSU defenses switched places. Their defense outplayed our defense. we held them to 1 3 and out while they held us to more than a couple and held us to a field goal. We know Riley can’t win games with field goals.
On another note, I feel that our offense picked apart their pass defense, but the protection did break down a bit near the end of the game. If our defense, especially the pass defense, doesn’t show up next week, expect another L and close barn burner of a game for the Beavs. If we don’t find our ability to stop a dual threat QB nor the pass, then we’re in for another long season. Lack of DT’s showed today. Riley did change up looks all game long with 4-3, 3-4, 5-2(goalline), nickel, dime, they blitzed when they passed and held back when they ran. Riley and Co. were guessing 90% of the game. #3(starter) QB for EWU is the real deal. he could have played at UO in my opinion because he made plays with his feet and outplayed our defense.
I don’t think Riley should be fired, I think Banker should be on the hot seat because Riley is the offensive guy and Banker is the defensive mindset. We’ll see after the hawaii game. we lose the hawaii game close or win close…it’s gonna be a long season.
EWU was/is a good team with superior coaching. The also have better uniforms. The result was pretty much what I expected, except that I expected Division 1 level kicking by the Beavers. In this era, it is not acceptable at the jc level to kick off to the 10 yard line. And how in the world did a guy who was average at Humboldt State, get a scholarship and start at OS? I guess that Nielsen could have used that scholarship since he was and is superior to Enger. Banker, yikes. Riley, a disengaged CEO only able to communicate thru deputies.

Sure glad I drove 8 hours for that. Don’t know if you guys could see this on TV, but on one of the EW touchdowns, both safeties and Reynolds were yelling at each other and didn’t realize the ball was even snapped till the receiver was hauling in the TD.
