Site Problems – angry, come home!

It seems something is amiss with the site, there appears to be no way to post comments or to reply to previous comments. I swear, I’ve not been fooling around with the admin tools and have no idea what the problem may be. Hopefully angry returns soon to resolve the problem.
Meanwhile, the chat area seems OK, if you can tolerate the free dating spam,  you can leave feedback or suggestions there.

  1. Now, in response to beavergopher’s question in the last thread, I don’t recall any specific reports on the nature of Kearsly’s injury. It was widely reported that he had to sit out ’15 due to transfer rules and missed part of Spring due to “injury”.
At any rate, resolving the question of who will be starting at C seems pretty important. Demo is on top now, we’ll see what the first couple weeks of August brings.

  2. Ok, the apocalypse is past, zombies all killed … Damn, I missed the whole thing.

Can someone summarize how much of the team is not A’s guys, including holdovers who stepped up, and how many are still Biley leftovers?

    • Not an in depth analysis but something along the lines of: 85 scholarships, 2 recruiting cycles (one shortened) ~25 recruited in 2016, ~20 in 2015, maybe 10 left team. My rough approximation would be about 30 Riley recruits left.

      • I did a quick count and came up with 38 left. Also, I counted 7 Riley recruits that were kept after Andersen was hired. So you could say the number is 45.

        • Seems like those 7 should count as Andersen recruits, since he encouraged the guys he didnt want to go look elsewhere(like Pensyl)
I’d be curious if the quality of the GA guys starts to appear noticeably better than Riley guys this year, or if theyre still pretty much the same caliber of player. Guys like Nall amd Villamin are our most productive offensive players, and they were both Riley guys.

          • The other day I did a quick check on recruiting class comparisons on 247sports. Riley usually had 2-3 recruits per class rated in the high 0.7000s range in recruiting. So far the most Andersen has had is per class is 1. Without running the numbers Riley’s average recruiting class rating looked to be about 0.8200- 0.8300 and Andersen about 0.8400-0.8500. This could be wrong, did not have time to do the numbers right. Also, this years class looks under the 0.8400-0.8500 average for Andersen, but the recruits have not yet received their final ranking.

  3. RE: the other thread getting locked.

In your WordPress admin panel, if you go to Settings>Discussion, under ‘other comments settings’ there’s an option to automatically close threads older than XX days. 14 is the default, I’m guessing that box got checked.

    • Thanks, Cake. Sounds reasonable but I don’t find the option you mentioned. At any rate, I plan to let angry take care of this.

    • Apparently lots of other people like him too. 247 shows 25 offers and I think that’s a conservative number since I dont see OSU or SMU listed, yet they both have offered.

  4. Hard Knocks on HBO this year is following the Rams. I imagine they will focus quite a bit on the QB situation, so we’ll likely have a bit of coverage on Mannion. Curious to see how he is developing. Rams seem intent on throwing Goff in there right away – they’re going to struggle.

    Debuts August 9th.

  5. Has anyone ever pulled a travel trailer or RV to the football games before? I know there’s an RV lot but not sure if it’s a 1st come – 1st served arrangement and can you come in Friday – leave Sunday? There’s also an RV park not far away.

    • You may want to call the ticket office, they probably have all the information that you’d like. Or at least point you in the right direction.

      • yup. and there’s even a shuttle to and from the fairgrounds to Reser.

There’s also a KOA off highway 34 on Oakville road about 5 miles east of Corvallis but I would imagine those RV sites go fast on gameday weekends

  6. Thanks for holding down the fort. I’ll be back Monday. Comments sometimes lock, its some glitch with the settings. Check that comments aren’t disabled. You’re best to just delete the thread and repost it.

  7. Whwn further realignment occurs I don’t have a great feeling about the Pac-12. From all information I can tell and what I have garnered the presidents are out to lunch and asleep at the wheel. They would rather hold onto a statement and position from 4 years ago then admit things ate soon changing and options could be limited forever afterwards.

Praying that by dumb luck we get 4 Big 12 schools after 2024 when contract ends. That is our only shot. New Big 12 schools soon to be added would then make up and keep going that conferenxe which wouls still get good general payout but not be the same quality as the P4 conferences.

Explain Colorado leaving the Big-12 for the Pac then.

Options will never be limited. See Colorado and Texas A&M

It’s all about money. If a school thinks it can generate more revenue with plan B, plan B it will be.
The Big-12 won’t be plucking any schools from P5 conferences to join them. BYU is finding they aren’t Notre Dame and the independent route is less profitable for that reason. I know it’s not a popular opinion but I’d be open to inviting BYU and Boise St to join the Pac. Academically BYU would be a fit with the Pac but Boise would not. UNLV is another option that I don’t hear anyone talking about. Who wouldn’t love to have the Vegas market in their conference? Conference title game in Vegas in early December. There’s possibilities out there.

  9. Way OT.
Considering retrofitting an Apple Car Play compatible head unit into our old Yukon. Anybody have some real world experience with ACP? Looking at a Pioneer set up.

  10. Has it been discussed yet that Luke Del Rio, whom GA never gave much of a chance at QB when he showed up, is the odds on favorite to start this year at Florida?

    • As I recall, Andersen had Del Rio in the top 3, but he decided to leave just after the spring game. So, he was given a chance. It’s too bad he left, he’d have been the starter for most of last year, even if he isn’t that mobile.

      • I thought the general sentiment around here was that GA had pretty much decided Seth Collins was his choice regardless of what happened. This seemed to be what irked Angry the most all Spring. Could be wrong though.

  11. Gina is up with another in her “position battle” series; defensive backs.

Is it just me, or does it seem every group she’s discussed was missing several players last spring due to injuries? I’ve got high hopes for guys like Ovgard and Decoud and didn’t realize both had missed time in the spring.

Expect the current depth chart to see some significant changes before the Rodent Bowl.
