Ranking the 2018 class (Late Signees)
The early signees are here: http://angrybeavs.com/rankings/13575
I’m seeing some boom and bust with these late guys. Top heavy, and then a bunch of speculative prospects.
Matthew Tago **** – Only 4-star talent I see in this class. Really good size and athleticism. Speed isn’t great, but he’s no Pankey in that department, either, and should be fine.
Jermer Jefferson *** – Solid all around back, though nothing special stands out on film. He lacks breakaway speed and doesn’t have great cutting ability, but he’s highly productive playing strong competition.
Ronald Audette ** – This guy’s strength stands out. Yeah, you could say he’s playing vs small guys, but it’s still hard to toss one like a rag doll. Fun highlight film where his helmet is flying off in the snow and he’s blowing dudes up. Rough looking prospect in terms of his body type, but his strength stands out.
Joshua Gray ** – He has a solid offer sheet, but upon watching his film nothing stands out, and he looks a bit maladroit. I feel I’m missing something since he has so many good offers…?
Jaden Robinson ** – Plays the ball well, finishes the interceptions, and shows good hands (no surprise since he’s also a WR). Lacks elite speed and agility you want in a CB, but looks like a decent player. Very bad offer sheet doesn’t make me feel better about what I’m seeing. He’ll have to outwork guys to be successful.
Jack Colletto ** – This guy has a rag arm and throws pumpkins, but he can run a bit and seems to have good accuracy. Also comes from a winning program and is intelligent. As I mentioned in a prior thread, I’m hoping Colletto is the under-recruited guy we always see on other teams and wonder why we didn’t recruit him (e.g. Luke Falk, Kellen Moore, et al). I can see him being productive even though he’s unorthodox. I can also see him getting completely annihilated by P-12 competition. Speculative QB get where you’re hoping, and as I like to say “hope is not a strategy.” I do like what I see better than Luton.
